Young Thug has been sorely missed by the entire rap community ever since he was arrested back in May 2022. He was brought in on a 56-count indictment that allegedly saw him head an Atlanta street gang that committed multiple serious crimes. Fans and peers alike are constantly wondering when he will be free, or what his fate will ultimately be. It seems we are far away from any decision as of now. Yak Gotti’s attorney filed a motion recently to shorten the prosecution’s witness list. Currently, the list is at a reported 400. One of those 400 could be DJ Akademiks, as his name was dropped in a recent YSL RICO trial.

There is no confirmation if he is even a suspected witness. But with names like LeBron James and Serena Williams being tossed around, DJ Akademiks has a good chance of being called in. The social media pundit has talked about this lengthy case extensively, so it was not too much of shocker to hear his name talked about. However, Akademiks was sure as hell confused as to why he was mentioned.

At one point the judge questioned if “he or she” is coming to testify and according to the clip, he is not. Fans in the comments were having a field day with that. The judge also asked how the videos of DJ’s commentary on Thug would be brought up. However, the clip ended just before that explanation.

Knowing the allegations following the Trinidadian’s husband, Kenneth Petty, for years now, hip-hop heads immediately saw this line as taking shots at the couple, and Minaj has hardly stopped talking about it since.

Of course, the “Barbie Dreams” artist isn’t the only person Thee Stallion seemingly threw shade at on “HISS,” but she’s certainly the most upset. Elsewhere, others who came up in the black-haired beauty’s bars are happy to have their name mentioned in her music. Earlier this week, Kris Jenner posted the song on her Instagram Story, playing the part where Megan hints at a management contract coming to fruition in the future.

Drake’s Scary Hours 3 makes it clear that he’s got no shortage of rap beefs, but still, this weekend’s new release isn’t all negative. Currently, the internet is discussing the Canadian’s bars aimed at the likes of Joe Budden, Kanye West, and Pusha T. Drizzy and the podcaster have been trading shots since the latter had a negative reaction to October’s For All The Dogs, while the Yeezy founder’s inconsistent energy seems to be a source of contention for his “Forever” collaborator. As for Pusha, that feud goes way back to the birth of Drake’s son, Adonis, which was exposed by Push through a scorching diss track.

On a more positive note, Taylor Swift is one recording artist who got plenty of love from the 37-year-old. “Taylor Swift the only ni**a that I ever rated,” Drake raps on “Red Button.” He continues, “Only one could make me drop the album just a little later / Rest of y’all, I treat you like you never made it.” As Variety notes, this seems to reference the previously delayed debut of Her Loss, which came after the sweeping success of the country-turned-pop star’s Midnights LP.

Champagne Papi and 21 Sav’s collaborative effort was initially due out on October 28, though they held off until November 4. Unfortunately for them, “Anti-Hero” by Swift help onto the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 that week, though they ultimately claimed the top billing on the album chart.

You can’t tell if they’re really them in the video, but the song definitely sounds like the Toronto MC’s voice and style. What’s more is that, at the start of the clip below, you can hear a bar that shouts out none other than A$AP Rocky.

“I ain’t pretty Flacko b***h, this s**t get really Rocky,” Drake raps in the alleged snippet of his rumored upcoming Yachty collab. Maybe this doesn’t end up panning out, but it’s still a wild encounter to witness. While Drizzy and ASAP Rocky have always shown each other love, it’s actually been a while since they last teamed up on wax. Drake & Kevin Gates Are Latest Rappers To Be Name-Dropped In YNW Melly Double Murder Trial

Today (June 27), marks Jamell Demons’ ninth day in court amid his double murder trial. At this time, it remains unclear which way the death-qualified jury will lean in the nail-biting case. It could result in the rapper receiving a fatal sentence with a minimum 8-4 vote thanks to new state laws. Demons – better known as YNW Melly – seems calm, confident, and even playful amid proceedings which have been live-streamed by Law & Crime throughout the month.

Much of the focus remains on the 23-year-old and his alleged victims, YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a true hip-hop trial if other artists weren’t also brought into the conversation. Boosie Badazz is the only public figure to set foot in Melly’s courtroom so far (though he was arrested on federal charges of his own shortly after). This week, we’ve been hearing several names referenced during the testimony of undercover Detective Danny Polo. On Monday, he suggested that Juelz Santana is a member of the Bloods while also noting that he’s unsure if French Montana is gang-affiliated or not.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Trial Continues to Reference Hip-Hop

The next day, Polo answered questions from YNW Melly’s attorney, David A. Howard, regarding two other famous lyricists. The first was Drake, who the gang expert confirmed has made references to violence throughout his songs. Elsewhere the lawyer brought up Kevin Gates’ “4:30 AM,” on which he raps, “No regrets for the shit I did.” As per journalist Bryson “Boom” Paul, Howard replayed a video the prosecution presented of his client reciting the same lyrics.

Being dragged into yet another trial likely isn’t how Drake wants to spend his summer. Dua Lipa & Jack Harlow Dating After Rapper Name-Dropped Her On Last Album

Most people typically try to secure their cuffing season arrangements long before December. However, this year we have several late entries sparking romance rumours ahead of the holidays. Most recently, Dua Lipa and Jack Harlow have been causing a stir by spending some time together.

According to a Page Six report, the two have been dating after meeting at the Variety Hitmaker’s Brunch. The event took place last month in Los Angeles. Sources say that the Future Nostalgia starlet has become “quite smitten” with her new beau. They’ve been in “constant communication” since their first run-in, which cameras were quick to photograph.

Harlow, of course, hasn’t kept quiet about his strong feelings of attraction for the English artist. Earlier this year, he even released, “Dua Lipa.“ The single appears on his sophomore effort, Come Home The Kids Miss You.

“Dua Lipa, I’m tryna do more with her than do a feature / I checked the web, they out here chewin’ me up, f*ck it,” he raps within the first few bars of the popular song.

Many would love to have the Kentucky native pen a track about them. Still, Harlow made sure to get his new girl’s blessing before unleashing his work on the world. “I didn’t want her to be blindsided by that or feel creeped out or anything,” he previously said when telling the story of her reaction in May.

“I suppose it’s OK,” is what Lipa initially told him over FaceTime. However, it seems the tribute has grown on her. At least enough for the performer to want to get to know the “First Class” hitmaker on a more intimate level.

A source told Page Six of Harlow, “he was very interested in [Dua], and was going to strongly pursue [the romance].” Additionally, insiders have spilled that he flew to New York City this past weekend to see her following an appearance at the Z100 Jingle Ball.

The next day, sleuths saw them arriving separately at a restaurant for a lunch date. Apparently, they were attempting to move inconspicuously as they came in through a private entrance and left at different times.

“He is going to do his best, as he has always been a fan of her,” someone close to Harlow has confirmed to the outlet.
