Danileigh Shows Her Emotions Discussing Why Her Music Isn’t Catching On

In a new video making the rounds online, Danileigh gets emotional discussing her music. The singer has been dropping singles and albums for a few years now. But it doesn’t appear to have caught on in the way she hoped. In the clip she discusses her controversial past and how it may have an impact on people streaming and promoting the music she releases today. The video wasn’t meant to be viewed by the public, so after it got out she took to Instagram to comment on the situation.

“I def take accountability for all of my past. I’m human and I’m growing. Won’t speak on it all because of legal reasons. But kno that I am sorry. Hope everyone has a good day. Not gonna read these comments cause ima be a big baby,” her comment reads. Her reaction to the situation did evoke some empathy from fans in the comments. “The way the internet cancelled Dani but uplifted Chrisean for actually doing what Dani was accused of is extremely weird” one reply reads. “The way yall have managed to successfully cancel her and her BD as a unit should be studied” another comment observes. Check out the entire interaction below.

DaniLeigh’s brother is currently in the thick of a long legal battle with DaBaby. It spawned from an alleged physical altercation. But it’s been caught up in the courts so much because he can’t find the rapper to serve him his papers. He reportedly even hired a private detective to try and find DaBaby, but he couldn’t. That led Dani’s brother to ask the judge if he can serve the rapper his papers via an ad in a local newspaper.

What do you think of Danileigh’s comments on her music not being pushed because of her controversial past? Do you believe her when she accepts responsibility for all the things she’s done in her past? Let us know in the comment section below.

DJ Vlad Reveals He’s Working On A Response To Yung Bleu’s Diss

DJ Vlad says he’s in the studio working on a response to Yung Bleu after the rapper dissed both him and Boosie Badazz in his new song, “Reading The Room.” On the track, Bleu implies Vlad is the feds, rapping: “These n****s ain’t talking to me they talking to Vlad (Ooh) / Before you do another sit down, show ’em your badge.” Vlad responded to the diss on Twitter.

“Yung Bleu calls me the police and criticizes Boosie for doing interviews with me in his new song,” Vlad captioned a clip of the song’s music video. When one fan joked that he’s got one week to respond with a diss track of his own, Vlad remarked: “I’m in the studio right now!” A few days later, he brought up the video again. “Damn, @_YungBleu filmed a whole music video in Dubai dissing me and @BOOSIEOFFICIAL. Rented a Ferrari and everything. And only to get 136k views after 5 days. That’s like $500 in YouTube revenue,” he wrote. “That doesn’t even cover the price of the Ferrari rental. He got more views in a single VladTV interview clip.”

One popular response reads: “Vlad is very much apart of THEM coming into our space thinking they know shit. LOTS of ppl telling on themselves. Whether u physically working for the feds or not, u dishing out info they want that nobody else asking these ppl when they sit for interviews. How convenient!” Another wrote: “He didn’t lie. The Game Isn’t Sure Whether Rappers Or Fans Are Softer Amid Kendrick Lamar-Drake Feud

The Game shared some commentary on the rap game on his Instagram Story, on Tuesday night, admitting he’s unsure whether the artists or the fans are softer. “Idk who softer these days,” Game wrote over a black screen. “These rap n****s or the rap fans.” The comments arrive following Kendrick Lamar’s new diss track aimed at Drake, “Euphoria.”

When DJ Akademiks shared the post on Instagram, fans continued to debate the feud in the comments section. “I speak for everyone in the culture when i say we stand with Drake. Drake won, anyone who disagrees doesn’t know hip hop,” one user wrote. Another observed: “I’m starting to notice drake fans are similar to trump fans.”

Lamar dropped “Euphoria” earlier in the day, taking aim at Drake by implying he’s a bad father, discussing his race, bringing up his prior feud with Pusha T, and more. Many Drake fans took issue with some of the bars on the song and debate ensued on social media afterward. At one point, Lamar rhymes: “Yeah, my first one like my last one, it’s a classic, you don’t have one / Let your core audience stomach that, then tell them where you get your abs from.” Check out The Game’s comments on the state of hip-hop below.

In the comments, some fellow artists chime in. Rappers like Rob 49 and Blac Youngsta pop up, leading fans to believe that they could be making guest appearances on the album. That’s also the case with country music megastar Morgan Wallen who also pops up in the comments. Wallen has crossed over into hip-hop before with a pair of collaborations with Lil Durk under his belt. He also made an Instagram post earlier this year that led many fans to believe he was working on new music with Post Malone.

Moneybagg Yo just made a pretty memorable appearance on the new GloRilla mixtape. Kendrick Lamar Rakes In Impressive Number Of Plays On “Euphoria” Just 24 Hours Later

The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has seemingly closed its first chapter after the Compton superstar dropped “euphoria” out of nowhere. It caught the entire hip-hop community off guard, and it left everyone scrambling to react and break down the bars. Both Dot and Drizzy’s stans alike have been staunchly supporting their guys over who is on top, and it has been great to see the competitive fervor once again. Currently, the response to “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle is only on YouTube right now. Still, even with the minimal release and promotion, “euphoria” has racked up a ton streams for Kendrick Lamar.

In a recent Instagram post from thehiphopwolf, the account revealed that the track had brought in around 7.7 million plays in just 24 hours. In fact, that number has increased by about 300,000 at the time of writing, bringing the new total to 8.1 million. For comparison, Drake’s “Push Ups” has over 6.4 million views, and that hit YouTube officially almost two weeks ago. However, it still sits number eight on trending for music.

But “euphoria” has Kendrick at number one on trending overall, so in that aspect, he is winning. Then, on the other hand, Drake does have the streaming advantage by default. It has over 40 million plays on Spotify and debuted at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. So, the question is, does Lamar drop “euphoria” on streaming platforms now, especially with the numbers it is seeing?

What are your thoughts on Kendrick Lamar bringing in over eight million streams on YouTube for “euphoria” in just one day? Does this prove that Lamar is winning right now, why or why not? What bar stands out to you the most so far? Do you think he should drop the song on streaming now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and “euphoria.” Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Wack 100 Reveals The Winner Of The Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef

Wack 100 is known for commenting on all things hip-hop. Although there are some people who couldn’t care less about his opinion, there are others who are always intrigued by what he has to say. Overall, Wack is someone who operates out on the West Coast. Having said that, it should come as no surprise that he would be a fan of Kendrick Lamar. Moreover, he has a lot of expectations for Lamar as it pertains to being a representative for Los Angeles. This is especially true now that he is going against Canada, in Drake.

After Kendrick dropped off “Euphoria,” DJ Akademiks went live on Rumble, Twitch, and YouTube. During this stream, he called up Wack 100 who wanted to deliver his take on what went down. Interestingly enough, Wack was not all that impressed with the Kendrick record. He was hoping for something that was more “West Coast” in terms of its presentation. Additionally, he felt like a lot of the things Kendrick said had already been stated by the likes of Pusha T.

Wack 100 Weighs In

DJ Akademiks was very quick to agree with Wack 100. Of course, Ak has been on Drake’s side since the very beginning of the feud, so this should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. For now, it does seem like fans are split on this. Although both rappers have huge fanbases, and regardless of who says what, it feels like many have already chosen their side. In fact, this beef is very much like politics in that aspect.

Let us know what you think of this hot take from Wack 100, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that he is correct in his assessment that Drake is currently winning? Lil Tjay Reportedly Arrested In Miami: Details

Lil Tjay was supposed to have himself a good Tuesday, as it was his 23rd birthday. Overall, the artist was in Miami and was going to be hopping on a flight out of the city to go celebrate somewhere with his friends. Unfortunately, his celebration was cut short as the young artist was intercepted by Federal agents. According to The Shade Room, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers approached Tjay as he was boarding a flight at the Miami-Opa Locka airport.

Tjay was subsequently put in a nearby vehicle and driven away by authorities. As it stands, it would appear as though the artist is still in custody. For now, however, there are very little details pertaining to the arrest, and what is going to happen next. The Shade Room did publish a mugshot, but that is all we really have to go on right now. It was also noted that it seems like a warrant is what ultimately sparked the arrest.

The Best Hip-Hop Albums Of April 2024

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

For the second monthly installment of The Best Hip-Hop Albums, we had to dig a little deeper than we did in March, thanks in part to fewer releases overall. However, while there were fewer albums from established, well-known acts, plenty of up-and-coming artists took the opportunity to stake their claims on gaining a foothold in the public consciousness.

Thanks to Drake and Kendrick Lamar, it was an uphill battle. While Kendrick’s contribution to their ongoing feud didn’t arrive until the end of the month, Drake’s antics were more than enough to keep us all at our favorite digital water coolers, discussing his distasteful use of AI, and whether he still has the juice to survive another confrontation with a lyrical heavyweight with a longer history of critical support.

But even with those two sucking up all the oxygen, there were still plenty of new releases worth checking out if beef wasn’t your thing. Here are the best hip-hop albums of April 2024.

Anycia — Princess Pop That

Anycia

The Atlanta newcomer got plenty of attention thanks to Latto’s verse on “Back Outside,” but Anycia’s first-ever mixtape bears more than enough proof that she’s bigger than beef. Her herky-jerky flow, smoky vocal timbre, and unabashed bluntness are versatile enough to tackle both boisterous boasts and unfiltered heartbreak, while the choice of production keeps the energy level high through all 14 tracks.

Future & Metro Boomin — We Still Don’t Trust You

future x metro boomin we still don't trust you cover
Future / Metro Boomin

The second half of Future & Metro’s double disc project focuses more on the singing than the rapping, so there was a strong argument that this leaves it in Wongo’s territory, but we did include it in the Best New Hip-Hop of the week, so it qualifies for the month. Besides, thanks to contributions from ASAP Rocky, J. Cole, and Lil Baby, it still has more than enough bars for anyone who wants them.

GloRilla — EhhThang EhhThang

glorilla ehhthang ehhthang
GloRilla

Hip-hop can be a lot of things: Angry, menacing, political, and thoughtful. But I think at its core, what people want most from rap music is for it to be fun. GloRilla understands this and aims to feed this impulse directly on her first mixtape since 2020’s independent P Status. The project allays concerns that she might have been just a one-hit wonder with song of the summer potentiates “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and “Yeah Glo!” while providing introspection on “Aite” and “High AF.” Will you find dizzying feats of virtuoso lyrical gamesmanship here? No. But hip-hop has always been way more than just rappity-rap wordplay and “fight the power” ethos. Sometimes, you just want to turn up. That’s when you turn on GloRilla.

J. Cole — Might Delete Later

j cole might delete later
J. Cole

I also debated not including this one, solely based on Cole’s decision to pull “7 Minute Drill” from DSPs as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Fortunately for him, there are still 11 other solid tracks, including the nostalgic Dipset callback “Ready ’24” and “H.Y.B” with Bas and Central Cee. Intricate wordplay may not be your thing, but Cole’s latest scratches that very specific itch, despite distracting him from following through on his promise to bring The Fall-Off to fruition.

Skilla Baby — The Coldest

Skilla Baby

The Michigan rapper follows up his 2023 collaborative project Controversy with Tee Grizzley with a solid solo effort. The Coldest finds him using his choppy flow to detail his misadventures in the streets with a cool-headed charisma that makes what should be worn-out material sound fresher than ever. A slew of guest stars, from Flo Milli to Rob49, join him on trunk-rattling production, but he never lets anyone steal the spotlight, proving that he’s a star in the making.

Benzino Says R Kelly Deserves A Second Chance, He Shouldn’t “Rot In Jail”

Benzino discussed R Kelly during a recent appearance on the We In Miami Podcast and argued that the disgraced singer deserves a second chance at freedom. Kelly is currently serving 31 years in prison after being convicted of multiple charges of federal racketeering and sex trafficking involving sexual abuse of minors.

“Everyone deserves a second chance. I know that [Elvis Presley], a lot of motherf—-s was f—g with young girls,” Benzino said, as caught by Hollywood Unlocked. From there, he clarified: “I’m not into that. Again. The legal age is 16. So does that make it right if a n—a does it?” When the room responded “no,” he added: “But it’s legal in America. So why is R. Kelly doing all this time? Because you know why? They’re 13, 14, two years younger.” Once again, he reiterated: “I’m not condoning n—s f——g little girls. It’s sick. But I don’t think R Kelly should rot in jail for 30 years either.”

When the We In Miami Podcast shared the clip on Instagram, fans had mixed responses in the comments section. Many disagreed with Benzino with one remarking: “He met Aaliyah when she was just 12 and married her at 14, nah keep him in there.” Others took his side in the argument. “He’s got a point, why didn’t Elvis get in trouble for moving in that 14 yr old and then marrying her at 16? Nobody cared, but when a black man does it he gets life?” one user asked.
