Patti LaBelle Wants To Collaborate With Cardi B On Her New Album

Patti LaBelle is not letting age slow her down. The legendary soul singer turned 80 on May 24, and she has plans to celebrate the milestone birthday with a new album. LaBelle went on Entertainment Tonight to discuss the upcoming release, and she made it clear that one person towers above all the rest when it comes to her dream collaborator list. She wants to get in the studio with Cardi B, of all people, and churn out a hit with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper as soon as possible.

“She’s like one of my new best friends,” LaBelle told the outlet. “To know that [Cardi] was into Patti LaBelle. She’s like my new buddy.” The icon also announced the title and tenative release date for her upcoming, hopefully Cardi-featuring album. “It should be out at the end of this year and it’s called 8065,” she explained. “I’m 80 years young and 65 years in show business.” The notion of Patti LaBelle and Cardi B linking up may seem bizarre at first glance, but the two have actually been friendly in the past.

Patti LaBelle Considers Cardi B A Close Friend

LaBelle praised the rapper during a Tamron Hall appearance in 2023. “I’ve always wanted to meet [Cardi],” she admitted. “And when I met her she said, ‘I’m just so excited to meet you.’ She’s not a diva. She’s a beautiful spirit.” The singer went as far as to refer to Cardi as “baby Patti” after they collaborated on a Good Life/Whipshots marketing partnership. The admiration is mutual. When Cardi was asked about the aforementioned partnership, she admitted to being starstruck. “I feel like I’m not worthy, I just feel so shook,” she told People. “I got to take [inspiration] from [her].”

The irony of a potential Patti LaBelle and Cardi B song is that it would appear on an album by the former instead of the latter. LaBelle has dozens of albums to her name, dating back to the 1960s, but Cardi only has one. The rapper has kept fans waiting for the follow up to her acclaimed debut, Invasion of Privacy. She recently announced that it would not be coming in 2024. “Anyway NO album this year,” she tweeted in May. “I don’t care I’m relaxing this year. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.” Hopefully LaBelle is one of these alleged features.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Version Of Kanye West’s “Fade” Surfaces Online

Lil Uzi Vert has had such an artistic rebrand in recent years that it’s easy to forget how long they’ve been popular. They have dominated the charts for a decade, and collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the world. One of these artists is Kanye West. Uzi Vert and West appeared on the Travis Scott single “Watches” in 2018, but they were actually supposed to link up two years prior on West’s album The Life of Pablo. Lil Uzi Vert laid down vocals for the song “Fade,” but they were scrapped from the final version. Whatever they would have sounded like on the song was left to the imagination.

Until today. The alternate version of “Fade” was leaked online on May 29, complete with a verse from Uzi. The rest of the song is similar, with backing vocals from Ty Dolla Sign and Post Malone, but their singular style completely changes the feel of the song. Lil Uzi Vert is actually the first person to get a verse before West, and they make the most of it. They ride the bouncy house instrumental with ease, and opt for a low key, cool approach. This stands in direct contrast to the wild inflections of say, Uzi’s guest verse on “Bad and Boujee.” It’s understandable why West scrapped it for something with more energy, but it’s still very interesting to hear.

Lil Uzi Vert Laid Down A Guest Verse Back In 2016

Lil Uzi Vert has been vocal about the unreleased music they have with Kanye West. During the 2018 Grammy Awards, the rapper told Complex Magazine that they and West literally hundreds of songs that have yet to see the light of day. “Me and Kanye been working ever since Lil Uzi ever existed in his music career,” they explained. “I always knew ‘Ye. We have like hundreds of stuff, but trying to get it together. Stuff means it rounds about to anything you can think of.”

West has been one of Lil Uzi Vert’s most vocal champions. He regularly praises Uzi’s albums, and during a 2022 episode of Drink Champs, cited the rapper of one of two artists who represent the future of hip-hop. “It’s always two,” he noted. “Always two at a time. It’s really [Playboi] Carti and Uzi.” West also went as far as to compare Lil Uzi Vert to Steve Jobs in a 2020 tweet. When rumors surfaced that he was no longer a fan of the rapper, West set the record straight. “I love Uzi,” he wrote. “I be saying the same thing about Steve Jobs I be feeling just like Uzi.”

Joe Budden Reveals Why He’s Unimpressed With Apple Music’s Top 100 Albums List

Earlier this month, Apple Music unveiled its list of the 100 best albums of all time, unsurprisingly sparking a major debate. Lauryn Hill’s 1998 LP The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill came out on top, followed by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, The Beatles’ Abbey Road, and Prince and the Revolution’s Purple Rain. They put Frank Ocean’s Blonde in fifth place, one of the more controversial choices of the entire list.

Now, as reactions to the list continue to roll in, Joe Budden has shared his take on his podcast. According to him, he agrees with some of the rankings, such as Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city making the top 10. Budden says, however, that Apple Music did R&B as a whole dirty. He noted how some of the most iconic albums of the genre are far too low on the list or omitted altogether.

Joe Budden Thinks Apple Music Disrespected R&B

“Just talking about solely R&B, what they did with [Sade‘s] Love Deluxe, [Usher‘s] Confessions, [SZA‘s] Ctrl, Prince and [Michael Jackson] is egregious,” he explained. “This list is disrespectful to a lot of R&B actually. There’s a lot of phenomenal R&B albums [missing]. [Marvin Gaye‘s What’s Going On not making the Top 10] tells you that they disrespected the rest of R&B.”

Budden isn’t the only one who feels like Apple Music’s R&B rankings were out of whack, however. Last week, Jermaine Dupri took to Twitter/X to share his take on the now-infamous list, similarly stating that R&B was overlooked and disrespected. “Looking at this @AppleMusic top 100 albums list is sad, the disrespect to R&B is CR*ZY!!!!! It’s giving not worthy,” he wrote. What do you think of Joe Budden’s take on Apple Music’s Top 100 Albums list? Do you agree that the list is disrespectful to R&B or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Frank Ocean’s “Blonde” Cracks The Top 40 For The First Time Since 2016

8 years ago Frank Ocean released his new album Blonde at the end of a truly strange series of events. He had gone a full 4 years of mostly silence following his Grammy-winning debut studio album Channel Orange. That’s when a mysterious website a livestream popped up online showing periodic clips of Frank assembling a staircase with teases of new music. The album went on to be massively acclaimed and viewed by many as one of the best albums of 2016 and by some even one of the best albums of the entire 2010s. Clearly, love for the record hasn’t died down in the years since it was released. Just this week the project climbed back up to the highest spot its hit on the Billboard 200 since its original run on the chart in 2016. This week it lands at #34 on the albums chart. Vince Staples’ New Album Gets Co-Signed By Rock Legend Flea

Vince Staples has won over the world with his new album, Dark Times. Despite being one of the bleakest and densest releases of his career, the album has received universal praise critics and fans. The L.A. MC has also gotten a co-sign from one of the definitive West Coast bands of the last four decades: Red Hot Chili Peppers. The bassist for the band, Flea, hopped on X (formerly Twitter) on May 26 to praise Dark Times and Staples’ approach to songwriting.

Flea is a man of few words, but a lot of personality. It’s what makes him arguably the most famous bass player of all time. His Dark Times review was predictably brief yet succinct: “New Vince Staples so deep and good,” he wrote. Flea has been an advocate of hip-hop since the 1990s. He told AllHipHop that his favorite producer is J Dilla, whom he was put onto during a jam session with Erykah Badu. “I was doing this thing,” he recalled in 2012. “I was playing with Erykah Badu a while ago, you know, and she really…got me into J Dilla… It was like brought me to tears because of how beautiful it is.”

Flea Has Liked Vince Staples And OF For Years

Flea has also voiced support for Odd Future. “The Odd Future kids,” he singled out in the same interview. “I can [relate] just, in terms, like, it’s like wild, you know.” The similarities between OF and Red Hot Chili Peppers are obvious, especially considering how raucous the latter were in the 1980s. The bassist’s love for Odd Future hasn’t wavered, either. In 2023, Flea welcomed Earl Sweatshirt as a guest for his podcast, This Little Light. He praised the rapper’s dense wordplay and production style.

He also compared the OF crew to prime Wu-Tang Clan (who he is also a fan of). “You know, Wu-tang has been, like, a big thing for me a lot through the years,” he explained. “You know, all the solo records, and I love Ghostface and the Apollo Kids [album] he came out with.” Given Flea’s favorite hip-hop artists, it makes perfect sense that he would love Vince Staples. The rapper was an affiliate of Odd Future during their heyday, and he had arguably the best verse on Earl Sweatshirt’s major label debut, Doris. He knows talent when he hears it.

YG Puts “Scandalous” People On Blast As Fans Try To Uncover Who He’s Talking About

YG is fresh off of a new single where he called out other rappers for being weird. The song is fittingly called “WEIRD” and it’s the third single from his upcoming mixtape Just Re’d Up 3. The mixtape is part of a series as its name would suggest, but newer fans of the “FDT” rapper will be forgiven if they haven’t heard of the trilogy before. The original mixtape dropped all the way back in 2011 and the sequel a few years later in 2013. Both predate his breakthrough project My Krazy Life, which he’s celebrating the 10-year anniversary of this year.

Now YG is continuing his recent trend of calling out his contemporaries with a new series of Instagram story posts. The first post called out “scandalous” people and concluded “when yg start trippin tho they gon say he trippin.” In the second post he calls out one specific individual, though doesn’t mention them by name. He follows that up by saying that he’s “slappin sh*t all summer.” Fans are mixed on what to make of the posts. Some speculate, or rather joke, that he could be talking about his girlfriend Saweetie. Others think it could be some kind of promotion for his new mixtape that drops next week Check out the posts that have fans theorizing below.

YG’s Instagram Story Rant

Some fans suspect that one particular lyric from “Weird” references Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef. Drake mentions YG in one of the bars of his diss track and it may not have gone over particularly well. “When it’s smoke, don’t ever mention my name (mention my name) You gon’ have me jeopardizin’ my fame, jeopardizin’ the gang, jeopardizin’ where you hang, n**ga,” he raps on the song.

What do you think of YG’s new Instagram rant calling out “scandalous” people and claiming he’s going to be “slappin sh*t?” Who do you think he might be talking about in the more specific second post? Let us know in the comment section below.

Diddy-Dirty Money’s Kalenna Harper Defends Diddy From Fellow Bad Boy Artists’ Allegations

Nobody has had a rougher 2024 so far than Diddy. It actually started last year with a lawsuit filed by Cassie that accused him of abusive behavior. Earlier this month, CNN shared a leaked clip of hotel security footage that appeared to be video proof of her accusations. In between the original accusation and the release of the video he faced months of trouble. That included multiple new lawsuits and was highlighted by two of his properties being raided by the feds.

As you’d expect plenty of celebs have spoken out against Diddy and his actions, none more frequently than 50 Cent. 50 has spent months taking aim at the rap mogul on social media near daily. In a recent bombshell Rolling Stone story, numerous former Diddy affiliates opened up on their feelings towards him with nearly all the feedback being negative. But one person, former Diddy-Dirty Money singer Kalenna Harper came to his defense. She described some of the negative feedback the Bad Boy executive received as “disgruntled employee syndrome.” Her testimony left many online confused in the wake of dozens of allegations of bad behavior put on the record. Check out the full story the publication shared below.

One Former Diddy Employee Still Has His Back

One particular revelation in the Rolling Stone story stuck out to fans. They claimed that before his death, The Notorious B.I.G was plotting a way to escape his record contract with Diddy. Biggie is still one of the most commonly associated artists with the label but if not for his untimely death it appears he may have moved on from his affiliation.

What do you think of one of the singers from Diddy-Dirty Money coming to the rap mogul’s defense in the wake of all the allegations against him? Do you think the massive new Rolling Stone investigation is the most damning evidence against the rap mogul yet? Let us know in the comment section below.

Travis Scott & Alexander “AE” Edwards Are “All Good” Following Viral Fight, Latter Confirms

Last week, footage of a brawl unfolding in Cannes took the internet by storm. Initially, it was believed to be Travis Scott and Tyga throwing hands, but it was later reported that Tyga himself wasn’t the one throwing punches. Instead, it was his close friend Alexander “AE” Edwards, as well as Scott and his friend Southside.

Reportedly, a shout-out at Richie Akiva’s party went very wrong, prompting Scott to smash a microphone on the ground and storm off. Edwards tried to get him to calm down, but instead, he went and recruited Southside and they all began to fight. Tyga sat unscathed in a nearby DJ booth.

Alexander “AE” Edwards Addresses Cannes Brawl With Travis Scott & Southside

At the time, it was believed that nobody was seriously injured as a result of the scuffle, which has now been confirmed by Edwards. TMZ recently spotted him at LAX, where they asked him to give fans an update. He wasn’t willing to spill too much, though he did claim that they’re “all good” despite the brawl. Edwards also went on to give Southside a shoutout, making it clear that he understands he was simply trying to defend his friend, and doesn’t hold it against him. “I don’t got no hard feelings. It is what it is, it went how it went, and that’s it,” he explained. “I don’t want to fight, I don’t initiate that sh*t.”

Edwards went on to say that while he doesn’t have any hard feelings, he hasn’t worked things out with Scott personally. When asked if he had a message for the rapper and his crew, he simply said, “They got the message.” What do you think of Alexander “AE” Edwards finally addressing his viral brawl with Travis Scott and Southside?
