Sukihana Clarifies What She Meant When She Said She “Sold Her Soul”

Sukihana is an artist who has exploded in popularity over the last couple of years. Overall, she has blown up thanks to the recent wave of raunchy rap that is extremely sexual in nature. Her and Sexyy Red are at the top of this lane right now, and fans have grown acustom to their outlandish lyrics. Sure, she might be polarizing, but if you want to be successful in 2024, that’s kind of the cheat code. Having said that, it hasn’t always been easy for Suki.

In a video posted to her social media in 2019, the artist was ready to quit music altogether. In fact, she came out and said that she had signed a horrible record deal and that she had ultimately sold her soul. Selling ones soul is a concept that has existed forever, and there is debate around what it actually means. Well, in an interview with Math Hoffa on My Expert Opinion, Suki got to clarify her statement. Essentially, she just meant that she was in a bad deal that didn’t give her ownership over her own work.

Sukihana Speaks To Math Hoffa

“I was in a street, hood contract,” she explained. “I was in a bad contract. That’s what I meant, but people take it out of proportion. I feel like if you do sign a contract and you don’t own a lot of your stuff, I feel like that’s selling out, that’s selling your sold.” Suki then went on to say that she is no longer in this deal. Instead, she is doing well for herself, and is excited to move forward with her current career. It’s always good to see an artist win, and we hope Suki is able to have continued success.

Sexyy Red Clarifies She’s Not Endorsing Donald Trump After MAGA Hat Backlash: “I’m My Own Candidate”

Sexyy Red says she isn’t interested in endorsing any candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election after facing backlash for reworking Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. During recent sets at the Roots Picnic music festival as well as the Dreamville music festival, she performed with a massive MAGA hat on stage, while swapping the word “great” out for “sexyy.” After fans began to interpret it as support for the former president, Sexyy clarified her stance on X (formerly Twitter).

“It’s Sexyy Red 4 President 🇺🇸 I’m my own candidate I’m not endorsing anybody period,” Sexyy wrote. Fans praised her for the move. “Thank you for standing ten toes and not changing for these people,” one user replied. Another wrote: “Thank you for clearing the air.”

While she’s not taking a stance currently, Sexyy did endorse Trump during an interview with Theo Von on the This Past Weekend podcast, last October. “I like Trump,” Sexyy said at the time. “They support him in the hood. At first, I don’t think people was f**king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little s**t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Awe, baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office.” Check out her latest stance on Trump below.

Sexyy Red Speaks On The 2024 Presidential Election

Sexyy’s post comes after Trump became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes. Last week, he was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York in an attempt to illegally influence the 2016 election. He still plans to run against Joe Biden in the upcoming election. Be on the lookout for further updates on Sexyy Red on HotNewHipHop.

Over the course of about 16 years, hundreds upon hundreds of stars and legends have brought some of their best stuff to the platform. Cam’ron Trolled Anthony Edwards In A Freestyle After Being Shaded In His Adidas Commercial

Cam’ron and Mase’s It Is What It Is podcast has taken its fair share of shots at various athletes over the years, particularly NBA players like Jordan Poole and now, Anthony Edwards. Cam’ron targeted the latter with a few lines in a freestyle over the beat from Black Rob’s hit single “Whoa!” to open the latest episode.

Decked out in a Dallas Mavericks jersey (heh), Cam goes in on the 22-year-old NBA star, rapping, “Go ‘head and grandstand, no style can cramp Cam’s / P**** on a handstand, but f*ck wrong with Ant Man? / Gave him his props, homie got love from me / New commercial, y’all ain’t got love for me? / He shot a jump shot and said, ‘f*ck buddy’ / The receipt reader lookin’ like your f*ck buddy.”

So, what’s got Cam’s knickers in a twist? It seems Ant’s Adidas ad rubbed him the wrong way with its use of one of Cam’s tweets to make a point about Ant proving his haters wrong. The ad includes a printer for Edwards’ “receipts,” which spits out tweets from various celebrities questioning whether the young Minnesota Timberwolves guard is ready to be “the face of the league.”

The tweets are read to Ant by a friend as he takes practice shots, and when he hears that Cam’ron says he’s “an All-Star, but not a superstar yet,” Ant indeed gives a dismissive response and chucks another jumper. The ad’s being celebrated for its simplicity and directness, but clearly, not everybody appreciates Ant’s unfiltered demeanor.

Anyone who’s spent any time around hoopers knows that many of them — especially the best — are crazy petty and take anything less than unadulterated adulation as the saltiest criticism, so his response isn’t exactly surprising. But for the past 25 years, Cam’ron has been an equally petty performer in his own industry, so his response shouldn’t surprise anyone either.

But before anyone goes taking this super serious and demanding guns drawn at dawn, try to remember: it’s all in good fun. Talking sh*t is part of these guys’ livelihoods, so they both know there’s no ill intent. And if/when they see each other at the next All-Star Game, it’ll probably be all love.

You can watch Cam’s freestyle (and his explanation for the clap back) at the top of the episode above.

Kelis Blasts Nas Over His Alleged Debt To Her, Isn’t Interested In Reconciliation

Kelis is apparently not very forgiving of Nas despite their romantic history, and maybe she shouldn’t be if he really does owe her money as she claims. Moreover, she responded to some Instagram comments involving the New York rapper, making it clear that she’s not interested in burying the hatchet. “NAS & Kelis y’all need to double back, give love another chance. Blessings,” one fan wrote. “Stop, it was 15 years ago. Do you want your ex from almost 2 decades ago?” the singer-songwriter and chef clapped back. Then, in another comment, she made the specific claim about Esco owing her money.

“Give Nas his bread back,” another user commented to Kelis. “Lol he owes me actually, get outa her [sic] only a loser is worried about somebody else’s money lol please,” she retorted in her reply. Of course, the Manhattan native has a lot of other things to worry about apart from the money that Nas allegedly owes her. For example, she also got into it with the Beyhive back in 2022 due to Beyoncé sampling her on the RENAISSANCE cut “ENERGY,” which opened up the can of worms around her publishing rights once more.

Kelis Claims Nas Owes Her Money & Dismisses The Idea Of A Reconciliation

As for the Nas situation, it’s unclear whether Kelis is referring to some music industry-related dealings or the couple’s previous custody battle over their son. That was a pretty nasty back-and-forth in court, albeit one that seems mostly resolved at this point since not much else has come out about it. Hopefully things are at least clear and amicable behind the scenes and in the family dynamic even if some bad blood remains. If nothing else, it seems like she has more to say about what went down here, but chose not to get into it.

Meanwhile, their relationship ended on a serious and damning note as Kelis accused Nas of abuse, which he denied. This all went down years ago, and there’s no telling whether these Instagram comments will reopen parts of that conversation. However, it doesn’t seem like something they couldn’t resolve privately, so here’s hoping that goes well. After all, the Kaleidoscope artist faced a lot of hardships and injustices already in the game.

Eminem’s Daughter Alaina Hilariously Claps Back At “Houdini” Diss

Eminem’s new single “Houdini” is a career-spanning affair. The song samples some of his earlier work and promised a return to his Slim Shady days. He delivered on that promise transporting fans back to the early 2000s with both the song itself and the accompanying music video. The track features numerous references to former collaborators and people who appeared in Em’s songs over the years. The music video is a feature-packed affair with appearances from Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and comedian Pete Davidson.

Another group that pops up in the music video are Em’s three children. During one particular lyric on the song where he calls them brats, the trio make a guest appearance proving that they aren’t too bothered by the line. That context helps inform a comment Em’s 31-year-old adopted daughter Alaina left on his Instagram post announcing the single. She dropped four middle finger emojis, which would normally seem pretty hostile but is hilarious given the context. The comment serves as yet another hilarious piece to the song and video that had rap fans talking all weekend. Check out the post where she left the comment below.

He’s gearing up to drop his first new album since 2020, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace) later this year. The album doesn’t have an official release date confirmed yet.

Sean Kingston Arrives In Broward County Jail After Extradition To Florida

Sean Kingston’s legal trouble over alleged fraud continues to develop, as authorities recently extradited him to his home state of Florida after his California arrest. Moreover, a Broward County jail booked him on $1 million fraud and theft charges following a raid on his Florida home that also saw an arrest for his mother, Janice Turner. According to NBC 6 South Florida, the singer will face a judge on Monday (June 3). It’s unclear whether or not he has already formally denied these accusations for the court process, although we know that he already addressed the situation on social media upon the raid of his house.

Furthermore, Sean Kingston faces an uphill battle right now in the legal sense, but that doesn’t mean that his career is slowing down suddenly. In fact, amid all this controversy and allegations that a court of law still hasn’t ruled on, we even got some new music to boot. He and NBA YoungBoy recently released their collaboration “Why Oh Why” despite both of them facing some serious struggles in their careers and personal lives. Hopefully they are both at least able to handle it transparently and with justice despite the verdict, as many innocents and guilty perpetrators alike can’t even get this luxury.

Sean Kingston Extradited To Broward County Jail

As far as the specific allegations themselves, Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner received eight serious charges of fraud and theft. Prosecuting authorities accused them of running a fraudulent scheme to take advantage of several entities and individuals, including a car dealership and a jeweler. However, Kingston also received two additional charges involving alleged bad checks and defrauding a bank. The amount of allegedly stolen money and goods totals over a million dollars.

Meanwhile, Janice Turner already posted a $160,000 bail while Sean Kingston is still in custody due to the recency of his extradition. It’s unclear whether he will be able to post bail as well or if he will have to stay behind bars. Either way, this looks like a very complicated situation for them that could even rope in others, depending on how big this supposed scheme is. We’ll see what else develops in court and whether this will be a footnote or a whole chapter in 2024’s musical history.

Method Man Criticizes The Crowd At Summer Jam, Claims He’s Never Coming Back

Over the weekend Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam took place. The festival looked to combine rap stars both new and old with an impressive roster of performers. Doja Cat, Ty Dolla $ign, Sexyy Red, Fivio Foreign, French Montana and many more served as the contemporary stars of the festival. While Method Man & Redman, Eric B & Rakim, EPMD, and Jadakiss delivered old school flavors. But the crowd was apparently much more in tune with some of the newer artists around, which didn’t sit well with one particular performer.

Method Man took to Instagram following his performance to criticize the less than stellar reception he felt from the crowd. In a comment he claimed that the festival was “not our crowd.” After thanking the city of New York and some of the other performers he doubled down on his sentiments. “Never again.. at this point the generation gap is just too wide for me.. #nevercomingback” his comment concludes. In the comments, many fans come to the defense of the two rap legends. Some blame the fans themselves for their underwhelming reception. Others blame Summer Jam for placing the pair alongside a roster of artists they don’t necessarily go with. Check out the post and some fan reactions to it below.

Method Man Calls Out Summer Jam Crowd

This isn’t even the first controversy to spark from this year’s edition of Summer Jam. The original line-up poster included Offset as one of the headliners. But in a later announcement expanding the lineup of the festival he was unceremoniously swept off the list, with no explanation for his disappearance given. That was in addition to fans initial underwhelmed reaction from the original lineup announcement.

What do you think of Method Man’s post about the crowd at Summer Jam not being as into his performance as he had hoped? Do you think the festival did him wrong by placing him alongside artists that likely have very different fanbases than him? Let us know in the comment section below.
