Ari Lennox Reflects On Rod Wave Tour Treatment: “This Is Not My Crowd”

Ari Lennox recently reflected on her experience opening on the Rod Wave Nostalgia Tour, admitting that she could never find her groove. While discussing the tour on social media, over the weekend, she explained that it was not the right crowd for her. Most notably, an angry fan threw a bottle at Lennox during a concert in Los Angeles in November.

“I was never comfortable,” she began, “I just remember every show, just racing to get off stage, racing to get through my set. I started trying to communicate with the audience and then I realized they were getting angry at me affirming them. You’re getting angry that I’m affirming you? This is not my crowd. And it’ll never be. And that’s alright. It was tough and it was heavy on my soul, especially the day when the bottle happened because that side of the stage, like, I felt the energy … It was just all darkness — that was literally the energy that was coming from the left side.”

Lennox continued: “I was on that stage and would people would have sh*t on their screens saying ‘next,’ and I can’t deal with sh*t like that. I’ll curse you out … What is this aggression? You’re that pissed? It was a lot for two and a half months, like, getting my wardrobe stolen. It was just a very hard two and a half f*cking months. Very lonely too. During the November incident, Lennox went on a fiery rant on stage in response to the bottle thrower. “I will f*ck y’all sh*t all the way the f*ck up! However, if one thing remains true, it is that there is a sour taste left in people’s mouths from what went down in 2019. For those who need a reminder, Tyler brought out Drake during Camp Flog Gnaw. Drizzy was the surprise guest and fans did not like it at all. They booed him incessantly and it was an embarrassing display.

Although Drake tried to play it cool afterward, many noted how rude it was for Tyler’s fans to do that. Even Tyler had some words for his fans back in 2019, saying “I thought bringing one of the biggest artist on the fucking planet to a music festival was fire… all jokes aside sh*t lowkey funny.” Over the weekend, Camp Flog Gnaw made its grand return, and Tyler made sure to make mention of the infamous blunder.

Of course, this elicited a lot of cheers and wildly shocked reactions for the legendary femcee from festival-goers in the moment. However, once it was time for social media to catch up to the occurrence, people were less than enthused or appreciative when it came to this “gift.” Many folks saw this as too nasty, too corny or performative, a straight-up health code violation, or something you could press charges for.

On the other hand, there were also plenty of people who took it as an entertainingly bizarre and fun moment, or defended Lil Kim against the aforementioned critics. “She had on pants,” one fan clarified. “They were over her pants. Y’all too old. This not her first time doing this at her concerts. That’s like y’all saying why the brat pull her pants down on stage. bc that’s wat she does.”

Regardless of this interpretation, it was still a little too much for people to stomach online, for the most part. Sure, they had plenty of hilarious jokes about it, but no one really seemed to see this as anything less than a bit over the top, at best. In addition, a lot of people either used or called out the double standards when it comes to what other female rappers these days can do, and what Lil Kim can’t. Still, we’re sure that no matter what happens during these shows, she will keep doing concerts as she wants. Furthermore, when the beat dropped, the stage lit up behind the pgLang creative, and viewers went wild for it. What’s more is that many of them didn’t stop reciting all the lines back to Kendrick Lamar as he went through the track. Sure, that’s something you see at a lot of rap shows, so the excitement on display is nothing new. Still, few artists can get a stadium or festival crowd screaming and rapping as loudly and passionately as the West Coast legend.

Kai Cenat Giveaway Goes South: Streamer Taken Into Police Custody

A massive crowd came out today for Twitch streamer Kai Cenat’s “huge giveaway.” According to reports, Cenat was planning on giving out different gaming items to fans like PS5s, gift cards, and more. A “couple thousand people” are estimated to have shown up to Union Square for the giveaway, resulting in pandemonium. The crowd ended up blocking off multiple streets, stopping cars and creating quite the disturbance in the area. Fans arrived early, having taken over the neighborhood about an hour before the event was scheduled.

Apparently, things took a turn for the worst when fans began throwing garbage and other items at police, climbing onto vehicles, and even getting aggressive with each other. Clips have now surfaced showing attendees getting into fights, twerking on light poles, walking on top of UPS trucks, and more. Reportedly, Kai Cenat has even now been taken into police custody as a result of the chaos.

It’s unclear whether or not the streamer was arrested or detained. A clip shows him looking pretty upset as he’s plucked out of the crowd by police. He’s then seen being walked by officers over to a police vehicle and getting inside. Him and his personal security also appeared to have somewhat of a heated exchange with law enforcement. “Numerous” people in the crowd were arrested, according to NBC 4. Fans aren’t sure if Cenat remains in police custody, as he’s since posted on his Instagram Story.

Another clip of what appears to be the vehicle Cenat was traveling in shows various fans clinging onto it as it drives off. No serious injuries have been reported at the time of writing. As expected, social media is having a field day with the recent reports. Some Twitter users insist that it’s not the streamer’s fault that the giveaway got out of hand. Others suggest that he knows his reach, and with proper planning, probably could have avoided the fiasco.

Furthermore, Yeat is capitalizing off of the success and cult acclaim behind his latest album, this year’s AftërLyfe. While it’s 22 tracks long, it actually might be one of the best and most boundary-pushing rage projects since Carti’s Whole Lotta Red. Through his performance alone (something that translates into his live shows as well), the Oregon-raised MC showed off a lot of versatility within such a specific niche. Not only that, but sticking true to those limitations while expanding on them outwardly is probably what’s made him such a phenomenon in the first place.

Of course, this is far from the first time that the 23-year-old’s live shows resulted in newsworthy rowdiness. Lizzo Shows Up Hyped For Beyonce Concert

The “About Damn Time” singer was particularly excited to hear Beyonce play “Church Girl.” She sang along to the Renaissance deep cut in a video making the rounds on social media. The video went viral just a few hours after a different video from the show. That clip showed Zendaya and Tom Holland in attendance at the same show.

As many celebrities have shown up to the Renaissance Tour Beyonce has still firmly been the center of the show. Throughout the shows, she’s debuted dozens of new flashy outfits. The performances themselves have been evolving from stop to stop as well. In a recent performance, she was narrowly saved from a wardrobe malfunction. The quick thinking of one of Beyonce’s long-time collaborators saved the superstar from what could have been a painful mishap.

Longtime Lizzo fans won’t be surprised to see her at another Beyonce show. She’s always been a massive fan of Queen B and has consistently spoken highly of the influence she has on her own sound and style. Later on social media, she divulged that she’s seen Beyonce live 10 times. She’s officially made it 11 with this new concert she attended in Warsaw.

Earlier this month Lizzo was confirmed as a headliner for this year’s Made In America Fest. The fest’s other headliner is her good friend and frequent collaborator SZA. The pair have been linked repeatedly this year following SZA’s remix of Lizzo’s song “Special.” SZA also recently came to the defense of her against online bullies in a recent series of tweets. Jack Harlow’s Crowd Doesn’t Know His Own Lyrics

Last night Jack Harlow performed at the Power Our Planet concert put on by Global Citizen. The star-studded event featured performances from Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz, H.E.R, and Jon Batiste among others. Jack Harlow also took the stage and may have expected more from the crowd than they were prepared to give him. He tried to do a classic live performance move and start off his song “First Class” without the instrumental while rapping the lyrics himself. The trouble came when he tried to hand it over to the crowd to finish the lyrics. Despite the song’s massive sales numbers, the crowd in attendance totally left Harlow hanging.

“First Class” run at number one was less than a year ago. But Jack Harlow got a taste of the industry’s short attention span when many at his show had no idea what the words were. Thankfully, he played the incident off well and the crowd seemed to catch up once the beat dropped. 2023 has been particularly unkind to new rap music. The year is almost halfway through and there hasn’t been a number-one rap song or album. Despite being over a year old “First Class” is still the most recent rap song to spend multiple weeks atop the chart. Drake’s “Jimmy Cooks” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” each topped the charts for one week last year.

He released a music video for the song “Gang Gang Gang” last week after teasing it on social media. It’s the second video so far from the surprise-released project.
