Ashanti And Nelly Are Reportedly Already Married And Have Been For Quite Some Time Now

April brought some big news: Ashanti confirmed that after she and Nelly rekindled their relationship, the two were engaged and expecting a child. Well, it looks like the story may actually be deeper than that.

According to a TMZ report today (June 19) that cites “public records,” the two are actually already legally married, and their marriage date is listed as December 27, 2023.

The document apparently doesn’t note the city in which the two got married, but it was supposedly in St. Louis County, which would suggest that the wedding was likely in Nelly’s St. Louis hometown.

The two do not appear to have had a wedding ceremony yet, so if the report is accurate, perhaps they wanted to get the legal aspect of the marriage done and take their time planning a ceremony.

Meanwhile, Ashanti just told Entertainment Tonight about Nelly’s surprise proposal, revealing that it was a “beautiful, intimate moment” at home.

It was a surprise, but she wasn’t caught totally off guard, saying, “I felt like it was gonna come soon. I didn’t know when. And the way that it happened was just so funny.”

As for the wedding date, that’s not currently clear, as Ashanti said, “We’re both extremely busy, obviously with the baby coming, everything else takes the back seat.”

Swizz Beatz And Timbaland Announce The Return Of ‘Verzuz’ Through A Partnership With X/Twitter

A pandemic-era favorite is making a comeback. Today (June 19), super-producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland announced that Verzuz will make a return via a partnership with X (formerly Twitter).

The news arrives months after Tim and Swizz purchased Verzuz from previous partner Triller, now owning 100 percent of the Verzuz platform, while retaining their equity from their time with Triller. As a result, X will now have distribution rights to Verzuz, which will now broadcast on the platform that has over 550 million users.

“We are beyond thrilled to have found the best partner for Verzuz,” said Swizz in a statement. “Not only are we excited to have Verzuz on X, we’re excited to help X build the biggest entertainment company in the world. I would like to thank Elon Musk, Linda Yaccarino, Brett Weitz, Mitchell Smith and the entire X team for believing in the Verzuz vision. We can’t wait to get to work.”

Verzuz has seen several hip-hop and R&B artists — like Brandy and Monica, Nelly and Ludacris, Gucci Mane and Jeezy, and more — duel off, playing hit-for-hit within their discography. Verzuz has produced over 40 episodes, generating 100 million-plus live views and over 70 billion impressions.

At the time of writing, no new Verzuz face-offs have been announced, but we imagine Tim and Swizz have some exciting competitions in the pipeline.

“We are thrilled to partner with X, the most innovative platform globally,” said Timbaland in a statement. “Our goal has always been to bring Verzuz to the world which we can now do bigger than ever.”

For the past decade, rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent has had television in a chokehold — notably with the Power franchise, as well as his series BMF. Given his sucess in the realm of TV, 50 is taking his on-screen endeavors to the next level.

Back in March, 50 launched G-Unit Studios, a 330-acre compound, in Shreveport, Louisiana. While this is an exciting new chapter in 50’s career, some people started comparing his endeavors to those of producer, director, and writer Tyler Perry.

The Root even published an article titled “50 Cent Preparing to Be a Tyler Perry Rival?“, which 50 immediately shut down. 50 took a screenshot of the article and wrote an Instagram post, noting that things are going well on his end, and that he’s not in competition with anyone.

“I’m doing great but you’re getting it fvcked up, if you think me and Tyler will be at odds at any point,” he said in the post’s caption. “He’s helping me, already going out of his way to aid my progress. So in the nicest way cut the sh*t!”

Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest artists in the world, and when he speaks, the fans listen. Overall, many of his supporters have been waiting for some kind of statement ever since his beef against Drake. Although he won the beef in the eyes of the majority, fans have wanted a bit of a debrief. Well, they may just get that tonight as Kendrick is hosting a huge concert at the KIA Forum in Inglewood. The show is called “The Pop Out – Ken & Friends,” which is a promising name for what could be the biggest hip-hop event of the year.

Yesterday, DJ Hed revealed the set times for the event. The first set will take place at 4 PM PST/7 PM EST. This set will consist of DJ Hed and some of his friends. Subsequently, DJ Mustard and friends will take to the stage at 4:45 PM PST/7:45 PM EST. Lastly, Kendrick Lamar will be performing at 5:45 PM PST/8:45 PM EST. This promises to be a massive performance, and with tickets selling out in seconds, you can just feel the hype from hip-hop fans.

Even if you can’t attend the show in person, you can still watch it for free. If you have a subscription to Prime Video, you can watch the event live, as of 4 PM PST/7 PM EST. Roddy Ricch is a Los Angeles artist who has certainly made some West Coast anthems during his young career. Overall, he has also done some incredible work with DJ Mustard. Of course, the song “Ballin’” comes to mind. Having said all of that, there has been a lot of chatter about Roddy and his upcoming project. Moreover, there are rumblings that he could be featured on the new Kendrick Lamar album. Roddy is poised for a comeback, and these rumors have fans incredibly excited.

As it turns out, the Kendrick Lamar and Roddy Ricch rumblings may have just gotten a whole lot more validity. We say this because the artist seemingly confirmed that he would be at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” show today. Roddy posted an image of the concert’s flyer and said “ITS LIKE INCOME TAX DAY IN LA TODAY!” Needless to say, Roddy Ricch was one of the many “Friends” that the concert’s name was alluding to.

Remy Ma’s Son Charged With First-Degree Murder In New York City: Details

Remy Ma’s son, Jayon Scott, has been charged with first-degree murder as well as weapon possession and reckless endangerment stemming from an alleged incident in Queens, New York in June of 2021. Authorities charged him alongside Richard Swygert for the killing of 43-year-old Darius Guillebeaux.

The man was reportedly shot in the head and chest during a shooting at the intersection of 148th Street and Rockaway Boulevard in Springfield Gardens. Police say it’s unclear whether Scott or Swygert knew the victim beforehand. Their arraignment will take place in Queens County court on Wednesday afternoon. No further details are available at this time.

Remy Ma previously spent time behind bars herself following a conviction on multiple charges, including assault and attempted coercion, in 2008. At the time, she served six years of an eight-year sentence in prison before getting out of Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in 2014. During that time, she and her partner, Papoose, remained in a committed relationship. They married in 2016 and share one child together, who they welcomed in 2018. The rough news for Remy and her family comes after she celebrated her 44th birthday with an extravagant Cinderella-themed party, earlier this month. Fat Joe, French Montana, and Maino were all in attendance at the event.

In other legal news, singer Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the state of New York on early Tuesday morning as well. He was reportedly traveling after a dinner in the Hamptons at the American Hotel. He refused to take a breathalyzer test. 50 Cent has some choice words for Southwest T. The BMF (Black Mafia Family) co-founder crossed enemy lines over Father’s Day weekend, as he met up with Kenneth McGriff Jr., who is the son of Kenneth McGriff Sr. (aka Supreme). The former drove “nine hours” to see Southwest T and gift him some apparel. For context, the latter had allegedly try to organize the murder of 50 Cent back in the early 2000s when he got hit nine times. The G-Unit mastermind caught wind of this link-up due to a commenter on Instagram sharing similar disdain for Southwest T’s switch-up.

So, as 50 Cent normally does, he hopped on his keyboard and sent a pretty hilarious but threatening message to T, according to AllHipHop. “Hey I know T feel like he is not making the money @lilmeechbmf is making but I thought they would all be happy for him”, he begins. “It’s not like I didn’t help your family make millions. Cool when STARZ start suggesting the wrong moves, I’m simply going to sit and watch. Don’t worry you will be off the air in no time.”

At the event, they premiered a new unreleased collaboration with John Legend. The move comes as they gear up for the release of a new Clipse album entirely produced by Pharrell.

The two members of Clipse announced the upcoming reunion album during an exclusive interview with Vulture published on Wednesday. Describing the project, Push said: “I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo. I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler. This music is curated. This is a high taste-level piece of work. You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.” As for working with Pharrell, he added: “Pharrell producing everything is also an ode to the type of music and the type of albums we want to make. We still want to make full bodies of work. These are movies, man. These aren’t just songs. This isn’t just a collection of joints we went in and banged out.”

The Game Sparks Heated Debate Online After Posting Photos With His Daughter

Not too long ago, the California rapper is a father of three shared some cute family pics with everyone wearing an all-baby blue color scheme. He captioned the collage, “Being a father is definitely what I’m best at.” The first photo sees the rapper, along with one of his sons and his daughter, California. However, it is the two that follow that are creating chatter. The debate here is that The Game is getting too intimate with his daughter.

As you can see below, California is sitting in his lap, with two different actions. In the first one, The Game lays a smooch on the cheek. The subsequent image shows him resting his forehead on her shoulder. Seeing upset people in the comments section of the 44-year-old’s posts is nothing new. In fact, just about a week ago, the Atlanta Black Star News reported that The Game deleted a ton of photos from his IG, including a touching post showing how proud he was of California for graduating from the 8th grade.

DJ Mustard Reveals How Long It Took Him To Make Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Beat

DJ Mustard may very well be having one of the best years of any producer in the game. Sure, Metro Boomin has two albums out with Future. However, Mustard gave us the beat to “Not Like Us” which is arguably the song of the summer. Overall, it is a song that has served as a major rallying cry for fans, and it also helped Kendrick Lamar win his beef against Drake. Moreover, Mustard will be dropping Faith Of A Mustard Seed on June 28th and the album will feature some huge names.

Recently, Mustard sat down with Billboard where he discussed the new album and his hit song “Not Like Us.” It was here where he revealed five things about the beat that no one knows yet. Firstly, he maintained that he did not sample “Ether.” Secondly, he noted how he only heard the song along with everyone else, and had no idea what Kendrick would do with the beat. From there, he noted that his mindset was to embody how Dr. Dre would move if Lil Jon was in the studio looking to collab on production.

Subsequently, Mustard explained how it only took him a total of 30 minutes to make the beat for the record. Lastly, he was pretty stunned by just how well Kendrick performed on top of it. When you think about the bars and the cadences, it could very well have been the greatest verses ever laid on a Mustard beat. So there you have it. Sometimes, genius doesn’t need to take years to create.
