Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign recently dropped off their new album Vultures 1. In fact, the album came out over the weekend and fans have been eager to give it more listens. Overall, the release was a bit confusing. It was dropped off on Apple Music and Amazon Music, but not Spotify. Eventually, the album came out on Spotify but there was a period where it had been taken off of Apple Music. This is the norm with a lot of Kanye releases, so fans were not all that surprised by the confusion.
Subsequently, the estate of Donna Summer spoke out about how the song “I Feel Love” was interpolated on “Good (Don’t Die).” As the story goes, Kanye wanted to sample it but was denied permission. Consequently, Ye allegedly took matters into his own hands and used AI to get what he wanted. “Kanye West… asked permission to use Donna Summer’s song I Feel Love, he was denied… he changed the words, had someone re sing it or used AI but it’s I Feel Love… copyright infringement!!!” the estate said.

According to Billboard, the song has been taken off of Vultures 1, although just the Spotify version. Every other streaming platform still has the song, which has brought about some confusion. Whatever the case, it is clear that the Donna Summer complaint has made an impact on the album. Only time will tell whether or not Kanye will be able to put the track back on his project.

Yesterday, Suge found himself going viral for completely different reasons. As many of you already know, yesterday was Valentine’s Day. This can be a difficult holiday for many, especially if you are lovelorn. Well, he was looking to appeal to his women fans as he posted a nude photo of 2Pac in the shower. According to Suge Knight, this was a never-before-seen photo. “Happy Valentines Day to all my female 2pac Fans!!! Never seen before picture of 2pac taking a shower!!!” he wrote.
This was all extremely bizarre, especially as he made sure to tag Jada Pinkett Smith. Subsequently, fans took to the comments and the quotes to question Suge for this post. Some were curious as to why he would even have a picture like that. Furthermore, there were some who began to question Suge and his sexuality. This is a common phenomenon on social media, and the posting of this photo certainly did not help matters in the least bit. Regardless, it is clear that maybe the former rap mogul made a miscalculation with this one.

Sexyy Red was one of the biggest breakout artists of 2023. Overall, she has co-signs from a ton of different artists. However, no co-sign was bigger than the one she ended up getting from none other than Drake. She got to be one of the openers on his tour, and there were times when she got to feature on massive songs. For instance, on For All The Dogs, Sexyy Red got to be on the song “Rich Baby Daddy.” This is a track that also features the likes of SZA, and is considered one of the best on the entire project.
Throughout the last few months, fans have been theorizing about when the music video for this song would end up making its way to YouTube. After all, these are three big artists on one song. Well, on Wednesday, Drizzy finally gave us the music video and it boasted a unique DIY aesthetic. Sexyy Red’s water breaks during the video and we get to see her in the hospital as well. Moreover, there is one scene in which Drake kisses her pregnant belly. This led to a hilarious contemplation from Sexyy on Twitter.
“I’m wrong if I put drake on child support?” Sexxy asked. Her fans thought this was pretty humorous. It also feeds into the rumor that was perpetuated by some who claimed Drake was, in fact, the father of her newborn child. Of course, this is nothing to back up such a rumor. Sexyy Red has a pretty good sense of humor, and she definitely knew what she was doing with this tweet. Now, in 2024, it will be interesting to see how she follows up her success. Kanye West and Taylor Swift have a very long history in the public eye. Of course, Kanye interrupted her speech at the VMAs after winning best music video. Furthermore, he had some not so nice words for her on his song “Famous.” Overall, it is easy to see how Swift might not like Kanye and vice versa. In fact, this makeshift feud led to some interesting rumors after the Super Bowl. For instance, it was said that Swift had him kicked out of the game after he took a seat in front of her sky box.
Additionally, after Kanye posted his music peaking above Taylor Swift on the charts, there was a concerted effort from Swifties to get Ye out of the number one spot. West saw this and immediately took to Instagram where he addressed a whole plethora of headlines. As the video goes on her water breaks and by the time her verse arrives she’s rapping alongside a newborn baby. It’s another stylistically distinct video from this era and perhaps the funniest yet. After pushed-back release dates and cryptic posts, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign released their collab album Vultures 1 on Friday, February 9. Over the past few years, Kanye has been consistent with having unconventional or in some cases, inconvenient releases. For this one, the album was only on Apple Music for hours. It took hours to appear on Spotify, pulled from Apple Music then re-uploaded with a slightly different album cover. The album’s release was preceded by several listening parties that were open to the public. This has been Kanye’s method for the last few years which has gotten mixed reception due to the often chaotic outcome.
This collab album from Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign comes after years of developing their chemistry. The first time they worked together on wax was in 2015. However, the subsequent collaborations honed into various styles so fans went into the album with a rather open mind. These collabs had a variety of production styles and tones so listeners went into the new album with open minds on how it would sound. Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s ability to perform on a variety of prediction styles is a testament to their skill and range as artists. We’re looking at some of their collabs across the years and how they led to their collab album.
One could say that Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have been day one collaborators. They worked together on Ty Dolla $ign’s debut album Free TC which was released in 2015. Their collaborative track “Guard Down” was an emotional effort that paved the way for their collab on Kanye’s The Life Of Pablo on the track “Real Friends.” This TLOP track was even more emotional as Kanye shared glimpses into his personal life on the track. During 2016, Kanye posted several tracklists for The Life of Pablo – originally titled SWISH – and “Real Friends” was there every time.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign also collaborated on another song from The Life of Pablo titled “Fade” which also featured Post Malone. This track found the duo on a house sample, something that audiences did not expect. In an interview with W Magazine, Ty$ spoke on how the song came to be. “We came up with that song in five minutes—the lyrics and the idea. He did the beat on the spot, like from scratch. It was really dope.”
Prior to Pablo, Ty Dolla Sign landed writing credits on two surprise releases from Ye, “FourFiveSeconds” and “Only One.” In an interview with Billboard, Ty$ spoke about the process of creating the tracks with Ye: “[In] like 24 hours, [we recorded] seven songs or nine songs that day…He was open to my input, like, ‘do whatever you want to do. Here’s your mic. Do you need anything?’ I’m like ‘Awesome! Let’s get it!’”
2018: The Wyoming Sessions
Ty Dolla $ign is one of the main people who ventured to Wyoming to record with Kanye for The Wyoming Sessions. Ty Dolla $ign made appearances on two of the five albums from these sessions. He has writing credits and provided vocals for Kanye’s album Ye and did vocals for his collab album with Kid Cudi, KIDS SEE GHOSTS.
In an interview with HipHopDX, he spoke on how the Wyoming sessions went and how he admired Ye’s process during them. “I went up there for two days and did every song that you heard from all those projects…It was a movie out there. He [Kanye] always picks dope locations to record from…It was basically his bedroom where he had the studio set up and it was overlooking this big-ass field and all these mountains. It was beautiful…”
2019-2020: JESUS IS KING & Featuring Ty Dolla $ign
Several of the songs Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign made had some emotional weight to them. Many have likened Ty Dolla $ign’s vocals to a gospel singer’s whenever he links up with Ye. Evidently, their collaborative streak continued once Ty Dolla $ign appeared on Ye’s gospel albumJESUS IS KING. “Everything We Need” went through a variety of changes but Ty$’s vocals stayed on them through the track’s entire transformation process. The original title of the track was “The Storm” and allegedly came from the sessions for the scrapped Kanye album, Yandhi.
Then, Kanye West made two appearances on Ty Dolla $ign’s creatively titled album, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. These came on “Track 6” and “Ego Death.” The latter finds the duo – along with vocals from FKA Twigs and production from Skrillex – rapping and singing on a groovy house-esque beat. Boogzadabeast and Ty Dolla $ign himself also have production credits on the song. Meanwhile, “Track 6,” was another song where different versions with different people contributing to it. One demo version made its rounds online as “Thank You Vol. 2” and actually featured Kid Cudi. Some sources have stated the track was originally created for the KIDS SEE GHOSTS album.
2021: Donda
Donda is another unique release in Kanye’s discography that Ty Dolla $ign appears on. He appears on “Junya pt 2” which is a different version of “Junya.” The only thing different from the original is Ty$’s verse being on it. This track is one of several “pt 2” versions on the deluxe edition of Donda. With Kanye and Ty$’s history at this point, it seemed right to still have him be on the album in some form instead of leaving his verse on the cutting room floor.
2024: Vultures
Often during Kanye West’s outbursts, rants, monologues, etc, he names specific people. When he does this, he’s either condemning them, praising them or comparing himself to them. Ultimately, Ty Dolla $ign has remained in Ye’s good graces throughout it all and vice versa. Despite the controversies, Ty Dolla $ign didn’t stray from Ye’s side, leading to the release of their collaborative album.
While it’s almost guaranteed that working with Kanye would be anything but smooth sailing, Ty Dolla $ign remained committed to the process and provided fans with updates since they told fans Vultures would be “coming soon” in November 2023. Though the album faced a multitude of setbacks, the two came together strong on the first installment in their series of projects. With two more volumes in the trilogy reportedly coming, only time will tell if this remains the case going forward. There’s also allegedly another solo Kanye album coming and listeners are wondering if Ty$ will be on that one too or rather, if any songs from the Vultures sessions will appear on that album.
2024 Summer Olympics special correspondent Snoop Dogg is willing to go to any lengths to raise the bar of his coverage in Paris. According to Entertainment Weekly, that even included a promise to reporters at the winter Television Critics Association press tour to “get underwater” to make sure he’s fully prepared and doesn’t miss a story.
“It’s gonna be me in the field, at events, hosting, getting with the athletes, moving through the city,” he said. “Just doing the things Snoop Dogg does.”
As he put it, “We’re planning on shaking it up and doing something different, and just having fun. It’s the Olympics. We only get it once every four years, so we’re going to make the most of it.” However, he made sure to offer some reassurance to sports fans worried he might not do his due dilligence: “I don’t ever come in cold,” he declared. “I always come in hot. So with that being said, don’t worry about the research. I know everything about everyone. We’re gonna be fine.”
Snoop’s laid-back sports commentary has become something of a running gag over the years, as fans look forward to his unique takes on everything from hockey to boxing and everything in between, as illustrated by Peacock’s 2021 broadcast featuring Snoop and Kevin Hart being wowed by a variety of sports they didn’t quite get. When a microphone gets in front of Killer Mike, the result is either going to be really great (his Grammy Award-winning album >Michael) or make anyone listening want to groan aloud in horror. His latest stint on The Daily Show falls into the latter category — at least, it does for me — and I think we should maybe consider restricting his engagement with live mics to him rapping on them and nothing else.
While Mike reflected on his Grammy wins, host Jordan Klepper asked him a jokey question about another award show fixture, Taylor Swift, wondering if Swift “snubbed Celine [Dion].” The minor controversy found fans nitpicking Swift for not properly acknowledging the Canadian diva, who presented her the award for Album Of The Year (despite her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis). Unfortunately, Mike took it left almost immediately, praising her for winning the award, then jokingly propositioning the “Anti-Hero” singer.
“She won at the Grammys,” he noted. “Her boyfriend won the Chiefs. If she’s into poly, me and my wife need a third. We’re trying to win again.”
Yikes, Mike.
Klepper did his best to mitigate the off-color joke, asking, “You feel like you could pull off polygamy right now?” prompting Mike to reel it in a bit. “I feel I could pull it off,” he said. “Only problem is my wife’s good with a gun. She doesn’t agree. But I’ll keep trying for all the men out there.”
Hey, man. That sounds like a YOU problem. Don’t do anything for all the men. My name’s Bennett and I ain’t in it. I’m sure the Swifties will be nice about this when they find out. It’s not like there isn’t already a wildly problematic history of rappers saying gross things about their leader.
