NBA YoungBoy Slams The Music Industry As “Demonic”

NBA YoungBoy says the music industry is “demonic” and forces within it are using him as an entertainment product. He discussed his place in the industry during an interview with Complex at his home in Utah, where he’s been under house arrest since 2021.

“It’s a demonic industry that I chose to be a part of,” he said in the clip. “So it’s like, I accept it. I run with it. But don’t be a dummy at the same time. You gotta understand, they’re using me as entertainment. And this sh*t becomes self-destruction too, ’cause I ain’t an entertainer. Some sh*t can’t be spoke on. Why? Man, ’cause this sh*t is to be continued.”

YoungBoy has faced numerous legal issues over the years including several cases of federal firearm charges. In 2021, he was released on $1.5 million bail and ordered to live under house arrest while awaiting trial. Amid that ongoing process, YoungBoy has been heavily focused on getting music out to his fans. Just earlier this month, he dropped his fourth new project of 2023, Decided 2. Across the 18-song tracklist, YoungBoy collaborated with just one artist, Rod Wave. It’s the second time they’ve worked together as of late, after previously pairing up on “Home Ain’t Home” off The Last Slimeto in 2022. Earlier this year, YoungBoy dropped I Rest My Case in January, Don’t Try This At Home in April, and Richest Opp in May. Check out YoungBoy’s full interview with Complex below.

“Be lucky I’m humble look at it as your blessing,” he wrote on Instagram. Needless to say, he had a very simple response. It is a vague response and there is no telling if it is actually directed at Ye and Ty. However, the timing of it all certainly lends itself well to the idea that there is a connection. Street Bud (Jeremiah)

Street Bud was the winner of the fourth season of The Rap Game. While this contributed to his fame and shot his rap career forward, the Atlanta-based MC was already famous before winning the show. In 2016, two years before the reality show, he released his debut album, Get Cha Mind Right. After winning The Rap Game in late 2018, Street Bud became even more popular and secured a deal with Atlanta record label Quality Control. That same year, he appeared on the label’s compilation project, Control the Streets Volume 2. This served as the stepping stone for new singles, as well as an album in 2020.

This 2020 album was Street Bud’s second album, and it featured hits like “Open House” ft. Quavo and “What’s The Move.” Since 2020, he has not released another project, but he has multiple singles in his name. Furthermore, he has garnered millions of streams on various platforms. However, his most streamed song on Spotify to date is “Open House” with over four million streams.

Lil Bri (Brianna Burns)

Lil Bri has starred in reality TV shows: The Rap Game and The Four. She starred in the latter in 2018, the same year The Rap Game season 4 ended. Since then, Lil Bri has released multiple singles with thousands of Spotify streams. “I Deserve” and “I Should Have Cheated” are some of her biggest records yet. Since 2021, the Los Angeles-based rapper has not released any music. However, he recently surprised his fans by announcing that he’d be dropping new music soon, alluding to a “body of work” on an Instagram post. So, it’s safe to say Jordan Air Young has a new project in the works.

Rap-Unzel (Brazil Barber)

Rap-Unzel took her time between starring in The Rap Game and releasing music. She released one single every year from 2017 to 2021, with the exception of 2020. In 2021, she finally put out her first EP, titled Pun Intended. In an interview with Forbes, Rap-Unzel explained that this project should have come earlier, but as an independent artist, she had financial limitations. However, she was happy she took her time because those two years she spent working on Pun Intended allowed her to grow and make necessary changes to her craft. Since Pun Intended, Rap-Unzel has only released one single, “F ‘Em.” However, she has been up to other projects. For example, she has been partnering with brands like Hanes. She also makes content on Instagram, where she has over 200k followers.

2Pac Producer Sues Over “Dear Mama” Royalties

Master Tee, one of the producers of 2Pac’s 1995 single “Dear Mama”, has filed a lawsuit over unpaid royalties generated by the song. The suit names fellow producer Tony Pizarro as the primary defendant. However, it also names Disney and the Hughes Brothers for their recent 2Pac docuseries of the same name. Master Tee claims that he did not realize he was owed publishing royalties until the series premiered in April.

“Master Tee was never properly and fully credited with his publishing copyright from the writing and creation of the music of ‘Dear Mama’. Instead, a self-serving group, led by an upstart music producer, Tony D. Pizarro, conspired with executives at Interscope Records and Universal Music Group, misappropriated Master Tee’s publishing copyright and Master Recording Copyright and assumed the identity of writer/publisher of ‘Dear Mama’s’ music,” Tee’s attorneys wrote.

Dear Mama Gets Perfect Score, Award Nods

Dear Mama was a cultural phenomenon when it was released on FX earlier this year. Directed by Allen Hughes, the series explored the separate lives of and deep relationship between Pac and his mother, Afeni. It broke a premiere record when it was first released, with over 300,000 tuning in to watch the first episode. Furthermore, it would go on to achieve a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes. TIME‘s Judy Berman called the series, “One of the most thorough, sensitive portraits I’ve seen of an artist who has by now been eulogized for longer than he was alive. And of the remarkable woman who created him.”

Now, as the musical awards season rolls around, Dear Mama is once again back in the conversation. 2Pac could win his first-ever Grammy nearly 30 years after his death thanks to the documentary. Pac is nominated for the 2024 Grammy for “Best Must Film Category”. He will compete against David Bowie and Little Richard for the award. Pac had been previously nominated six times for various Grammys but has never won.

Adam22 Responds To T-Rell Threatening His 2-Year-Old

T-Rell has had enough of Adam22 and is making it known that it’s on sight every time. The tension between the two is escalating, with T-Rell taking things to a whole new level today by not only threatening physical confrontation but also mentioning Adam22’s daughter. “I want everybody to hate me, for the rest of your life,” T-Rell began. “Tell Parker when she see me … When you see this Parker when you’re older, I’ma kick you in your a**. And f**k yo daddy. F**k yo grandma too. You feel me, but thats where I’m at with it.” T-Rell called out Parker, Adam22’s 2-year-old daughter.

The beef unfolded on social media. This all stemmed from a heated back and forth between the two. Today, Adam22 called out T-Rell and BackOnFig and said the fans are losing interest in the podcast. He says that T-Rell had the biggest opportunity in media to capture people’s attention after leaving No Jumper. Adam then proceeded to break down the Figgmunity World podcasts and analyzed the numbers, calling it a failing platform. “You guys all left full-time, good paying gigs to start this channel,” Adam22 said. He continued, “You have no vision, no ideas besides copying No Jumper. You don’t bring anything new to the table besides what you learned at No Jumper.”

However, now that T-Rell clapped back and brought Adam’s kid into it, fans are not on his side. “Weird behavior. Leave the children out of this!” one person commented about T-Rell’s statement to kick his daughter’s a**. The intensity of the situation reached a new peak when T-Rell mentioned Adam22’s daughter, a move that often takes beefs to a personal level. Adam22 took a second today to also respond to T-Rell’s words. “This is how easy this gonna be?” Adam22 said on an IG story in response to T-Rell.

“I do a 28-minute surgical dismantling of your life, career, and what you’ve accomplished, and then you say you’re gonna kick my daughter in the a**?” Adam22 continued. “Do you think you’re winning anyone over with this sort of outburst? You need to use your words bud. Uh, frankly I’m embarrassed. You coulda did a lot better. You didn’t respond to anything that I said. You’re not good at this. That’s why you’re threatening to kick kids in the a**.” As the online drama continues to unfold, fans are left speculating about whether this beef will fizzle out or escalate into a face-to-face confrontation.

Cardi B Claps Back At Body Shamers, Says Cosmetic Surgery Needs To Be Maintained In The Gym

Cardi B, known for her unfiltered personality and fierce clapbacks, recently found herself responding to a critic who questioned the authenticity of her gym sessions. The Grammy-winning rapper had shared a photo of herself working out in the gym, showcasing her dedication to fitness. However, a fan reposted the image with a comment insinuating that Cardi, like many influencers, might be relying on surgery rather than putting in the effort at the gym. However, Cardi B has been vocal about cosmetic surgery and has made it clear she’s not against it.

In her typical fashion, Cardi B wasted no time in setting the record straight. Addressing the comment head-on, she replied, “How vocal have I been about my procedures??? The thing is I don’t gain weight much, so I’m trying to gain MUSCLE cuz it’s hard for me to maintain fat…also there’s this thing called visceral fat…It’s fat that grows under the muscle, and you can’t lipo it, the only thing you can do is work it out! THAT’S WHY YOU SEE POUCHES ON LIPO GIRLS. YOU HAVE TO MAINTAIN IT!”

Cardi B Claps Back

Moreover, Cardi’s response sheds light on a broader issue in the world of influencers and celebrities, where there is often speculation about the authenticity of their fitness journeys. In an era where image is carefully curated on social media, Cardi B’s transparency about her procedures and the challenges she faces in maintaining her physique stands out. “People be assuming that when you do surgery or something, your insecure about yourself, or you hate yourself,” Cardi said during an interview on the Jason Lee Podcast. “And that’s just not the truth. I just be feeling like, if I want to correct something, I want to do a little something, something, I don’t give a f**k. I’m going to do it.”

This clapback not only defends Cardi B against baseless accusations but also serves as a reminder that everyone’s fitness journey is unique. Cardi’s openness about her procedures and the struggle to maintain a specific physique in the face of societal expectations adds a layer of authenticity to her public persona. It’s a powerful statement against body shaming and a call for understanding the complexities of individual health and fitness goals. Nicki Minaj And Ice Spice Accomplished A Coveted ‘Jeopardy’ Feat, But Still Left One Contestant Stumped

ice spice and nicki 2023
Alex ‘Grizz’ Loucas

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice have maximized the joint slayage this year. Back in April, the two released a remix of Ice’s “Princess Diana” from her debut EP, Like…?. Then in June, the two released “Barbie World,” their collaboration from the Barbie soundtrack.

“Barbie World” has since earned the ladies nominations for “Best Rap Song” and “Best Song Written For Visual Media” at the 2024 Grammys. Still, despite the song and its artists’ prolific presence, there are some people who still don’t know who they are.

Today (November 21), in an episode of Jeopardy, the song was and one of the rappers was used in a prompt on the show.

“Ice Spice and this singer whose fans are called Barbz are fittingly on the Barbie soundtrack with ‘Barbie World,’” read the prompt.

Of course, any Barb would instantly know that the answer is, in fact, Minaj, however, the contestant didn’t seem to be privy in Barb-speak.

The contestant answered, “Who is Aqua?” only to be corrected and told that the answer was Minaj. Though, the contestant wasn’t too far off. The song “Barbie World” features a prominent sample of Aqua’s hit single “Barbie Girl.”

But perhaps a Jeopardy shout-out is another feat the two rappers can add to their resume.

You can see the Jeopardy clip above.

Young Thug Interrogation Audio: Detectives Ask If Lil Wayne, Birdman, And Thugger Are Bloods

We knew Young Thug’s YSL RICO case would be a slow-moving process, but we didn’t think it’d be nearly a year and a half into his arrest before his trial began. After months of searching for the perfect jury candidates and watching the number of co-defendants dwindle, it’s nearly time to begin the next steps in the court process. While we eagerly wait for that, @ThuggerDaily and @HipHopLivesNATL on Twitter shared a newly leaked video from the Atlanta-based artist’s interrogation with police, which is two hours long and includes some seriously laughable moments.

Among clips already going viral is a moment between Jeffrey Williams and a detective asking him about gang violence mentioned throughout his lyrics. “Y’all are bloods, right?” he asks in a casual manner. “Lil Wayne, you, and Birdman?” After a moment of silence, the multi-talent responds in confusion, “A blood???” as if he couldn’t understand the connection between him and the notorious gang. “That’s what you say on the song,” the investigator reminds Thugger.

Young Thug Laughs Off Questions About Being in a Gang

Of course, song lyrics being evidence is one of the most controversial aspects of this trial. After letting out a laugh, Williams told the authorities, “Man, that is entertainment main!” Seeing as we haven’t heard much from the “Oh U Went” artist directly all year, hearing his voice (especially in such good spirits) is refreshing. As the trial finally moves forward it won’t be shocking if more leaks come out. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any that surface.

According to Mariah the Scientist, Young Thug’s got a pretty major incentive waiting on the other side of his time behind bars. The R&B singer says she and her man absolutely love discussing their plans to exchange vows once he (hopefully) beats his YSL RICO charges. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
