He hasn’t been entirely absent from music in the meantime. But fans have still been holding out hope of another project for years. Last month, a story about Ginuwine appeared in Britney Spears memoir. In the story she explained that her boyfriend at the time Justin Timberlake, would change his accent around certain people. One specific example she used is when he met Ginuwine. What do you think of Ginuwine’s impressive gym progress after just two weeks? Let us know in the comment section below.

Big Gipp Comes To Andre 3000’s Defense Over Criticism Of His Experimental New Album

Earlier this month, Andre 3000 dropped his long-awaited debut solo album. It’s the first full-length project he’s released since the final Outkast album more than 15 years ago. While fans have been excited for a new album from Andre for years, it didn’t exactly arrive in the way they were expecting. In his announcement Andre clarified that the album had “no bars” and he followed up on that promise. The resulting album New Blue Sun is a 90-minute ambient jazz album with no vocals of any kind.

As you’d expect, it divided people. Some gave Andre credit for following his artistic whims and praised the experimental elements of the album. Others didn’t care for it nearly as much and thought that he should stick to rap. Some got into trouble online for their controversial opinions on the project like Dj Vlad. He compared Spotify streaming numbers between the project and Outkast’s biggest hits to determine which is better. Fans came after him online for seemingly not understanding experimental music or how streaming numbers work. Now, Goodie Mob’s Big Gipp is also coming to Andre’s defense.

Big Gipp Talks New Andre 3000 Album

“André 3000 just opened a new genre for Hip Hop producers and Hip Hop people who play instruments. Remember, Miles Davis never said nothing to you. Kenny G don’t say nothing to you. It’s so many examples of just musicians who had a great amount of success that said nothing to you and played an instrument,” Big Gipp’s response begins.

“I feel like, again, this is never about us competing with nobody. This is only about us competing with ourself and making sure we push this place and push this genre so far that it opens up another room for aspiring artists and aspiring musicians. That’s what I think. To show you to break the rules and show you that you can,” Gipp elaborated. What do you think of Big Gipp’s take on Andre 3000’s experimental new album? let us know in the comment section below.

7 Rappers Who Joined The Military

We’ll admit a rapper in uniform is not something most expect ever to see. Surprisingly though, several rappers were once in the military. Whether before or after embarking on their musical journey, these MCs have served at some point in their lives. Not many artists have navigated the challenging terrains of the music industry and military service. After all, either of the two options is tough enough on its own, so why move from one to the other?

Well, most of these rappers only had brief stints with the military and joined because they had to. Only a handful actually joined because they wanted to, for whatever reason. Nevertheless, they all count. Out of an ever-growing crop of rappers, here are seven who have served in the military before.

No Malice

NEW YORK – JULY 30: Rapper Malice of Clipse performs on stage at the Diesel U Music 2009 NYC Tour at Webster Hall on July 30, 2009 in New York City. (Photo by Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images)

One half of the Hip Hop duo Clipse, No Malice first joined the military before becoming a renowned MC. After finishing high school, the rapper was uncertain about his future, and how to take control of it. Especially considering that he had a child on the way, No Malice had to do something for money. Also, it had to be something good enough to help him take care of his growing family.

In a 2015 interview with MTV News, the rapper disclosed, “I was looking for stability. I needed it, something that was honest money and something you could count on, benefits and things of that nature. It also [allowed] me to go to school and learn a trade.” Subsequently, he became a member of the United States Army and served a two-and-a-half-year term. Although he did not re-enlist, his time there makes him one of the few rappers who were in the military. After leaving, he went on to form Clipse in 1992 with his brother, Pusha T

Freddie Gibbs

In his younger years, the talented rapper Freddie Gibbs got into trouble often. Although he got into university on an athletic scholarship, the rapper was unfortunately expelled before he finished. Subsequently, at the age of 19, he was placed on trial for theft and gun charges. Even being the rebel that he was, Gibbs had to follow orders if he wanted to get himself out of that mess. As such, to avoid jail time, he was enlisted into a pre-trial program run by the US Army. However, eight months in, Gibbs was dishonorably discharged for being caught smoking marijuana.

Canibus

The tale of Canibus’ entry into the military is unusual because it happened after he had become a rapper. Following the release of his solo debut album, he began making waves in the industry in the late ‘90s. He continued to do so until 2002, when he unexpectedly joined the US Army. In a 2021 interview on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, Canibus explained that he had been blackballed by some publications prior to his enlistment.

As a result, he felt like he needed to take some time off. It was due to the disdain he was beginning to feel towards the music industry. Canibus shared on the podcast, “The way I felt at that juncture was like, ‘You know what, rap ain’t it, I’m still young enough to go out and make a difference.” Afterward, he joined the Army, serving for two years before being discharged for smoking marijuana, like Freddie Gibbs.

Shaggy

Before turning 20 in 1988, Shaggy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. The Jamaican-American rapper had arrived in the States a year before and immediately tried pushing his musical career. However, despite enjoying moderate success, he could barely find any work. Subsequently, he decided to do something more productive and joined the Marine Corps. He served there during the Gulf War and rose in ranks to become a lance corporal. After leaving the Marines, he released one of his biggest hits, “Oh Carolina,” in 1993.

Nate Dogg

The late King of Hooks, Nate Dogg is on the short list of rappers who have served in the military. He did so at 17 when he dropped out of high school. Subsequently, he left his hometown and enlisted in the Marine Corps. Eventually, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he served for four years. Although the reason remains unknown, Nate Dogg was dishonorably discharged in his fourth year of service.

MC Hammer

MC Hammer is one of the most famous rappers who was once in the military. He joined the US Navy and became a veteran. While he later moved on to achieve worldwide fame with his music, MC Hammer made a fine Naval officer. He diligently served in the Navy for three years, reaching the rank of petty officer third class. Afterward, he was honorably discharged and has focused on music since.

Ice-T

Hip Hop veteran Ice-T served in the US Army for four years before moving on to achieve fame with his music. Following the birth of his daughter, the rapper enlisted in the Army in 1977, joining for financial benefits. Subsequently, he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division for the following four years. While in the Army, he rose to Private First Class.

Foxy Brown Is Planning A Major Comeback

Earlier this week, Foxy Brown took to social media to share a message with her followers. She provided fans with a vague update on her Instagram Story, hinting at some new music arriving in the future. While she failed to specify exactly what she plans on releasing and when, she’s set the bar high. According to the rapper, she’s planning on making a splash with her return, but she needs some space to do so.

“QUIETLY RAISING MY BEAUTIFUL GIRL, PREPARING FOR THE GREATEST COMEBACK IN MUSIC!” she told followers. “HOP OFF MY D*CK!” Listeners haven’t heard a full-length project from the NYC native since her 2008 mixtape, Brooklyn’s Don Diva. While details of what they can expect remain unclear, it’s safe to say that fans can’t wait for the big comeback.

Foxy Brown Teases Her Return

Elsewhere in her message, Foxy took the opportunity to clear up some gossip. Namely, a rumor that’s been floating around for some time concerning her relationship with Jay-Z. It’s been speculated that the two of them were romantically involved at some point in the 90s, as they were collaborators as well as close friends. She’s denied this previously, but nonetheless, the rumors continue. “FAKE FAIRYTALE NEWS!” she insisted. “I UNDERSTAND THE VOID I’VE LEFT IN MY ABSENCE. BUT THE FOX & HOV LIES ARE PATHETIC AT THIS POINT!”

Foxy Brown clearly has some exciting things to look forward to, but things haven’t been a breeze for her as of late. Amid the various lawsuits that Diddy’s been hit with in recent weeks, she seemingly came to his defense, claiming that working with him was a pleasure. She received backlash for her comments, with many users calling them insensitive. What do you think of Foxy Brown revealing that she plans to make a huge comeback? Are you looking forward to whatever she has in store for fans? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

HoneyKomb Brazy Issues An Apology To J. Prince Jr.

HoneyKomb Brazy recently called out J. Prince Jr. over some label issues with Rap-A-Lot, as well as making claims that he got slapped. It’s a bit of an unclear feud, as social media spats tend to be, but it seems to have ended before things really even started. Moreover, he took to his Instagram this week to issue an apology to the rap mogul’s son for his actions. Not only that, but the rapper fully admitted that he’s in the wrong here, and hopes that they can talk face-to-face soon. Despite Brazy’s other beefs, it’s heartening to see him want to make things right, if only for the inspiration it can give us to do the same in our lives.

“I just talk to big home @jprincerespect for like 4 hours straight on FaceTime,” HoneyKomb Brazy’s message began. “He really solid af n always wanted wats best for me n he was always there for me my whole bid. I really love the OG n he stood on business n standing on business righteous heart felt type s**t. Uk we rocking like cut off stockings [two 100 emojis].

HoneyKomb Brazy’s Apology To J. Prince Jr.: Read

“I just be in brazy mode sometimes but I apologize to u fr,” HoneyKomb Brazy went on. “N we ain’t going to never do that no more cause that’s was really some b**ch s**t on my end. I admit that now. @jprincejr need to catch that flight so we can talk face to face.” Furthermore, this is especially heartening because the MC’s faced a lot of violence and tragic ends to conflicts throughout his life, ones that are nice to see him avoid. For example, his grandparents tragically died in a house fire over a Facebook post relating to his relations with OMB Peezy.

Meanwhile, J. Prince Jr. is still involved with some feuds with other rappers, although this is more tangential than legitimate. He, like many others, trolled Gunna online, with him specifically naming a mouse he found after him on Instagram. For now, though, it’s good to hear that this didn’t go any further. For more news and the latest updates on HoneyKomb Brazy and the Prince family, keep checking in with HNHH.

The Weekend Tops 12 Billion Streams On Spotify In 2023

Spotify Wrapped season has already given fans a peak at some of the biggest artists in the world and how they performed on Spotify this year. Superstars like Drake and Bad Bunny have shared their extremely impressive streaming numbers already. Spotify itself announced with a series of Billboards all over the world that Taylor Swift was the most-streamed artist on the entire platform this year. Unsurprisingly, the artist who spent much of the first half of the year as the most listened to also has some incredibly impressive numbers.

The Weeknd raked in 12.8 billion streams on Spotify in 2023. Those impressive totals came from 285.2 million different users and added up to 721.7 million hours of listening. Even among impressive numbers from other artists, those are staggering totals. What makes the accomplishment even crazier is that he didn’t even release a new album this year. Compared to all three of his biggest contemporaries Drake, Bad Bunny, and Taylor Swift who did drop new projects. Check out the full report on The Weeknd’s streaming numbers below.

The Weeknd’s Incredible Streaming Totals

Earlier this month, it was officially announced that The Weeknd broke an impressive touring record. Across 30 shows he sold 1.639 million tickets which amounted to a staggering total of $158.1 million. Consequently, that’s the highest total ever achieved by a black artist for a European tour.

Fans expecting to catch the tour at stops in Australia and New Zealand may have to wait longer than anticipated. He was originally scheduled to play 11 shows across the two countries in late November and into December. But in a statement shared recently he explained that due to unforeseen circumstances, the tour dates had to be delayed. The dates haven’t been canceled entirely, just rescheduled into next year, though specific dates are yet to be announced. What do you think of The Weeknd reaching such impressive streaming totals despite not dropping a new album this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Thug & YSL RICO Trial: State Slammed For Making False Gang Sign Claims

Young Thug and YSL’s trial on RICO charges began this week, and we’re finally seeing how both the prosecution and defense are handling their arguments. Moreover, a recent court development called into question the veracity of a state’s witness, who claimed that one of the codefendants “threw gang signs” at them. A defense attorney pushed back on this assumption during questioning, and got the witness to admit that they have no idea what gang sign they reportedly saw. As such, it seems like the attorney wanted to make the point that this lack of knowledge or context makes this tale irrelevant to the collective’s innocence, and especially to its alleged guilt.

Furthermore, debates between both sides of the court aren’t the only obstacle in Young Thug and YSL’s trial’s path. In fact, some worrisome leaks and the spreading of private information could warrant a major overhaul in the case. For those unaware, a security breach leaked the identity of four jurors in this court proceeding, which is a dangerous prospect. Without the shield of anonymity, it will be harder for the judge in this case to stand by impartiality, especially when it comes to the fervent and wild public interest in this trial.

YSL Defense Attorney Questions State Witness In Young Thug Trial: Watch

What’s more is that Judge Ural Glanville is reportedly very displeased with Young Thug and YSL’s RICO trial. This leak clearly contributed to that, as well as issues stemming from attorneys on both sides of the aisle. As such, rumors of a mistrial sprouted quickly, although it’s very hard to say whether this will actually end up being a reality. However, we know that a mistrial does not close the door on this no matter what “side” you’re on, so it would only be a big, additional headache to reckon with.

Meanwhile, other aspects of this case suggest that a mistrial isn’t very likely. One development that pointed to this was Glanville’s denial of motions for a mistrial on behalf of the defense. At the very least, he seems to want to sink his teeth into this a little more, and believes that there’s still more information for a proper assessment. Perhaps instances like these concerning witness testimonies and seeing the full plan from lawyers will inform this decision. Regardless, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on the Young Thug and YSL RICO trial.
