Muni Long Delivered A Futuristic Performance Of ‘Time Machine’ On ‘Fallon’
Last night (December 13), Muni Long stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a killer performance of her song, “Time Machine.”
On the Fallon stage, Long arrived dressed in a shimmery, metallic, robot suit, as she sang about regret and still missing her ex.
“Wish I had a time machine / Baby, if I had a time machine / I would hop inside my time machine / And rearrange history / Get rid of some of these memories / Anything that ain’t servin’ me / I wish I had a time machine / Go back to when you lied to me,” Long sings on the song’s chorus.
It’s been a big year for Long, who, after over a decade of working behind the scenes as a songwriter under the moniker Priscilla Renea, had a breakthrough moment after her song “Hrs And Hrs” went viral on TikTok. Long is nominated for three Grammys at next year’s ceremony, including Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for “Hrs And Hrs,” as well as the coveted Best New Artist award.
Long has been nominated in the past as a songwriter, but her current slate of nominations marks the first time she’s been nominated for work that she’s performed herself. In an interview with Billboard, Long revealed how she reacted to the news of her nominations.
“…I definitely cried for a couple of minutes because it was a relief,” Long said. “I feel really good. I feel very grateful. And it’s historic. My age [Long is 34], spending my own money, coming from my background — it was unheard-of stuff. I’m super grateful that the conversation is happening and that people are watching me and then the messages I get about people being inspired and they really do have stars in their eyes watching me, and that feels amazing.”

TikTok’s Emerging Artists Of 2022 Includes Ice Spice And Steve Lacy
Whether or not you’re an active user on the platform, you can not deny the impact of the social media platform TikTok. From legacy acts like Dolly Parton joining the site to funny one-off collaborations, the platform has proven to be a dominant force in today’s music scene.
Many rising acts, including Bronx rapper Ice Spice, have TikTok to thank for their boom in popularity. Like Spotify’s Wrapped list, TikTok has released its data for the year to provide the music power rankings.
In a statement, TikTok’s Chief Operating Officer, Vanessa Pappas, shared her excitement about this year’s list, “We’re honored to celebrate our global community who shaped this year’s trends, shared new ideas, learned from one another, and turned their passions into careers and livelihoods throughout 2022.”
At the top of their emerging artists’ list is the “Munch” rapper, and in the second position is “Bad Habits” singer Steve Lacy.
Budding music star Bailey Zimmerman came in at number three with the help of his single, “Rock and A Hard Place.” Pop singer JVKE’s “Golden Hour” secured him the fourth slot. Finally, former American Idol contestant Benson Boone arrived at the number five position due to his song “Ghost Town.”
Thanks to “F.N.F.,” Memphis rapper GloRilla secured the number six slot, whereas “Big Energy” landed Atlanta’s Latto at seven.
Grammy Award winners Omar Apollo and Muni Long, then Anees close out the last three spots. Apollo’s viral hit was “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All).” Long’s viral hit was “Hrs and Hrs.” Anees’ viral hit was “Sun and Moon.”

“The reason Public Displays of Affection worked is because love was absent in R&B,” Long says of the album.
Since the success of “Hrs And Hrs,” which amassed over 250 million streams, peaked at #1 at Urban & Rhythmic radio, climbed to the Top 5 at Apple Music, and peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, Muni has become the most streamed and talked-about artist in R&B today.

Saweetie And Muni Long Release Video For Their Song “Baby Boo”
Saweetie and Muni Long just released the video to their song “Baby Boo”. The intro of the song takes on a childish tone when it comes to “cuffing” someone you are interested in. It also took inspiration from the film “Love and Basketball.” In the music video, Saweetie is playing basketball with her man. Also, […]

Muni Long And Saweetie Drop A Colorful New Visual For ‘Baby Boo’
Riding the highs of her latest EP, Public Displays Of Affection Too, Muni Long has dropped a flashy new visual. Joined by Saweetie, Muni looks to make a new man her “Baby Boo.”
At the beginning of the video, Muni is seen browsing a dating app called BLK. She is then carried into a colorful dream sequence, in which she latches onto an ice cream truck, driven by her match on the app. Saweetie pops in with a fiery verse, as she hoops it up with a man in a pastel green room.
The song is a fast-paced nod to Muni’s pop roots, with catchy rhythms and an infectious hook, on which she sings, “I love you, I love you / I’m always thinkin’ of you / And no, it’s not a crush / Baby, I wanna lock you down.”
Muni has worked in the industry for over 15 years, putting out EPs and albums under the moniker Priscilla Renea. Until her breakthrough hit “Hrs And Hrs” went viral on TikTok last year, much of her success came from working as a songwriter for the likes of Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and, Kelly Clarkson.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Muni said that as a singer in her own right, she wants to be “a catalyst for little brown girls.”

John Legend And Muni Long’s Suggestive ‘Honey’ Video Oozes Sensuality
John Legend and Muni Long get sticky in the suggestive video for their new collaboration “Honey,” oozing sensuality in every frame. The video opens with John Legend waking up on the floor in an elegantly appointed but utterly wrecked music room amid the remains of the last night’s festivities. As he takes in the devastation, he notices honey dripping from beneath a framed portrait of Muni Long, peeling away the wallpaper to reveal a honeycomb and a hole in the wall, through which he watches the real Muni luxuriate in a bathtub full of, you guessed it, honey.
The song is John Legend’s second single of the year, following the groovy, upbeat “Dope,” which also features a rising artist in Atlanta tongue twister JID. It would seem that both singles are paving the way for Legend to release a follow-up to his 2020 album Bigger Love at some point. Legend recently wrapped up his 2021 tour for that album and as the consummate entertainer, doesn’t seem to be waiting around to unleash a new collection of loverly R&B tunes on the world.
Muni Long, meanwhile, is experiencing quite the breakout herself, garnering plenty of attention for her viral single “Hrs And Hrs” after it jumped from TikTok virality to the Billboard Hot 100. She’s also planning to release a project this year, a sequel to her star-making 2021 release Public Displays Of Affection.
