Miguel held a private listening party at Sony Studios in Los Angeles where the R&B singer shocked attendees. The 4-song set was set to promote his upcoming album VISCERA. It was also told beforehand that the show would be a “boundary-pushing” show. What’s Done In The Dark… On Friday, August 25th, Miguel sat as three […]
It has nearly been six years since the release of Miguel’s last album War & Leisure. So many great cuts are on this project and it left fans on a huge cliffhanger for countless months. But, Miguel is finally returning to album form. With the release of two singles this year “Give It To Me” and “Number 9” featuring Lil Yachty, a new full-length is on the horizon. We even have a title for it! Viscera is the name and we cannot wait for it to release.
Both songs possess extremely lush and colorful production, and of course, terrific singing from Miguel. In fact, the R&B sensation recently performed “Number 9” at his “Viscera Experience” as well as three other tracks. The unreleased cut “Rope” was the song he fittingly chose to perform as he was suspended in midair. A hook-like contraption, eerily similar to something you would see in a Saw movie, was attached to his back. Miguel hung up there for around four minutes, showing his commitment to the fans to put on a one-of-a-kind performance.
Of course, after pulling off a stunt like that, Miguel was obligated to share the damage after the show. He posted a picture to his Instagram with his torn-up back. The caption reads, “VISCERA What is your relationship to pain ? What is your relationship to change ?” Ironically, fans in the comments do not seem to be keen on Miguel’s changes, saying things like “You and Doja about to piss me off.” Or, “Please, don’t start w your weird s***. U been doing fineee sir keep it that way…smh.” It is unfortunate to see people reacting like this. However, Miguel’s new album should be what he described his experience as, “boundary-pushing.”
What are your thoughts on this picture from Miguel after his “Viscera Experience?” How far deep do you think those hooks were in his back? Are you excited about his upcoming project Viscera? We want to hear what you have to say, so leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Miguel is currently gearing up to drop his fifth studio album. It’s been almost six years since he dropped a full-length project, however, upon the release of his latest single, a collaboration with Lil Yachty called “Number 9,” Miguel has confirmed that he plans to release a new album this fall.
Last night (August 25), Miguel performed four songs from his upcoming album, which TMZ reports is called Viscera, at a listening event at Sony Studios.
During a performance of a song reportedly titled “Rope,” Miguel appears to get two piercings in the skin of his back. Assistants then put hooks into his back. They then attached literal ropes to the hooks, lifting Miguel as he performed the song. He performed in the air for approximately four minutes, before he was descended to the ground to cheers from the audience.

While its been some time since Miguel released a full-length album, his songs have proven to stand the test of time. Nearly 13 years after its release, his breakthrough single, “Sure Thing,” has had a resurgence on TikTok over the course of the past year.
As of now, there is no reported release date for Viscera.
Miguel’s childhood was a creative crucible, far from typical. Raised in the vibrant San Pedro, Los Angeles neighborhood, the young artist was nurtured by a family that encouraged his artistic leanings. Miguel’s father, a musician, and his mother, an educator, fostered a home filled with various musical genres, from classic rock to traditional Mexican music.
School performances and local talent shows marked the first stage of Miguel’s journey into the music industry. By age 15, he had already signed a production deal, but the path to success was not immediate. Years of struggle and perseverance preceded his breakthrough. His debut album, All I Want Is You, arrived in 2010 after a delayed release, introducing audiences to his innovative sound. With a net worth of $12 million in 2023, according to CelebrityNetWorth, his achievements are a melody that continues to inspire and resonate with a generation eager for authenticity and emotional depth.
Setting The Stage On Fire
The sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, marked Miguel’s transition from a promising talent to a force in R&B. The album, a blend of various musical influences, was lauded by critics and won a Grammy for “Adorn.” Collaborations with big names like Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys brought further recognition. Later, his subsequent albums, Wildheart and War & Leisure, continued to push musical boundaries, exploring themes of love, desire, politics, and personal identity. Tours with top artists, festival performances, and his continuous evolution as an artist have cemented Miguel’s position in the contemporary music scene.
The Rhythm Of Life: Personal Life & Highlights
Miguel’s life off the stage is equally engaging. His marriage to model Nazanin Mandi reflects a deeply rooted love story that began when they were teenagers. Beyond the romance, Miguel’s passion for social justice has led him to become an advocate for several causes, including mental health awareness and immigration rights. Further, his style is also worth noting, with fashion choices often creating as much buzz as his music. Miguel’s unique aesthetic adds another layer to his persona, whether at awards shows or casual outings.
Building An Empire: Business Ventures & Philanthropy
A multifaceted talent, Miguel’s ventures extend into the business world. His explorations into fashion design, producing, and podcast hosting demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit. Moreover, his philanthropy is closely aligned with his activism, focusing on educational initiatives, social justice, and support for the arts within marginalized communities.
Conclusion
Miguel’s artistry extends beyond the recording studio. His story is one that encapsulates ambition and creativity. It is not just a tale of musical success. It’s an illustration of a life lived with passion and commitment to both art and activism.
Miguel and Jessie Reyez are both talented R&B vocalists in their own right, but now that they’ve come together on “JEANS,” we’re craving a collab EP from the pair. The new single landed on Friday (August 18), following the “Criminal” hitmaker’s joint effort with Lil Yachty, “Number 9,” the weekend before. This release is equally as buzz-worthy, and extremely sensual in nature. It finds two lovers going back and forth with bedroom innuendos, seemingly talking each other through an orgasm with their verses.
“‘Cause I might let you do it, I might let you shoot it / ‘Cause she need some milk / She need somethin’ real, real bad,” the Canadian croons on the first verse after carrying us through the chorus. “The atoms between us have melted away, and we’re one tonight / When I see the way of your eyes, I know I, I’m doin’ it right,” Miguel later responds.
Jessie Reyez and Miguel Turn Up the Heat on “JEANS”
In the accompanying music video, Reyez is arrested while robbing a small convenience store, and she certainly gives the officer processing her a hard time with her bratty antics. When she’s finally made it to her cell, she and Miguel get as close as they can with the bars separating them. Though there’s only so much they can do physically, their lust for each other is obvious, and expressed through song rather than touch.
Check out the sultry visual for Jessie Reyez’s “JEANS” single with Miguel above. If you’re feeling the collab like we are, be sure to add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. For more HNHH release recommendations, check back in later this weekend.
The atoms between us have melted away, and we’re one tonight When I see the way of your eyes, I know I, I’m doin’ it right I love how you coach me when I’m close to the peak And I feel you growin’, my love, how you hold back for me
Jessie Reyez and Miguel are turning up the heat. Tonight (August 18), the two have dropped “Jeans,” a spicy, x-rated new collaboration.
The two have been teasing the collab via social media over the course of the past few days, and as always, Reyez’s pen proves to have made the song worth the wait.
“You fit / Better than a pair of jeans, baby / Fill me up better than a feast, baby /Don’t think I could ever let you leave, baby…Stroke makin’ me forget to breathe, baby / That face lookin’ like a seat, baby,” sings Reyes on the song’s chorus.
Miguel then chimes in with erotic, poetic wordplay of his own.
“And I see the way of your eyes / I know / I’m doin’ it right I love how you coach me when I’m close to the peak,” sings Miguel.
Both acts are having an exciting summer. Miguel is currently enjoying a viral resurgence of his 2011 breakthrough single, “Sure Thing,” while gearing up for a comeback of his own, beginning with his Lil Yachty-assisted single, “Number 9.”
Meanwhile, Reyez is currently on tour with Sam Smith, and is set to release her first poetry book, Words Of A Goat Princess this fall.
A collaboration that maybe most might have not seen coming, Miguel and Lil Yachty. They have just dropped a brand new single called “Number 9.” This is the R&B star’s second single of 2023 and his first collaboration with Lil Boat. With the Georgia native exploring more left-field sounds with his latest release, Let’s Start Here., Yachty has proven to be one of the best artists this year. Now, the colorful rapper teams up with a top-tier singer for an angelic cut, “Number 9.”
The Californian’s last song “Give It To Me” was well-received with tremendous production that includes drums, guitars, and oh, of course, Miguel’s heavenly voice. The vibe on that track is similar to what we are getting here with this latest effort. “Number 9” possesses more of an R&B vibe than “Give It To Me,” but honestly it does not make the track any worse. The beat is more simple, however, still feels like there are layers upon layers to peel back which makes for a terrific listen.
If you want to be transported to another world then we implore you to give the track a spin. Lil Yachty and Miguel work so well together and the sound choice just works here. It runs just over 3 minutes so it does not overstay its welcome. There is an accompanying visualizer and they are just as trippy as the song itself. The catchy hook and euphoric feel are sure to stimulate all the right senses.
What are your first impressions of “Number 9” by Miguel and Lil Yachty? Is this a summer song of the year contender? Should these two collaborate more often or was this a miss for you? We want to hear all of your thoughts and opinions, so put them in the comments section below. Quotable Lyrics:
On my tongue, a lap On my lap, a gun In the gun, a kiss Let it blow your mind
At long last, we finally have new music from Miguel. After giving us the first taste of his upcoming album back in April with “Give It To Me,” Miguel has followed it with a trippy new track, “Number 9.”
Over a trippy, psychedelic beat, Miguel embraces change within himself, as he embarks on a journey of rebirth.
“Brake lights off / In the distance don’t follow me / And thе sky / Came crawling out beneath thе waves / Crashing into the sun ain’t no stopping me / And when the checkered flags are waved / There’ll be no one else / And nothing left of me,” sings Miguel on the song’s opening verse.
Joining him on the song is hip-hop artist Lil Yachty, who, this past January, released a psychedelic-inspired project of his own called Let’s Start Here.
On his verse, Yachty encourages the listener to “Feel your deep-rooted emotions / Fulfill the devotions
Don’t you get away, I’ll be on your skin like lotion / Living inside your brain.”
According to a statement from Miguel, “Number 9” is “about end[ing] the old, starting new, and the cylindrical nature of change.”
Fans can also expect a new album from Miguel this coming fall.
In the meantime, you can listen to “Number 9” above.
