Heading into this week’s new releases, anticipation was sky-high for the Future and Metro Boomin joint album, We Don’t Trust You. Now that it’s out, one track in particular is getting a lot of attention: “Like That,” which features a surprise cameo from none other than Kendrick Lamar. Over interpolations of Rodney O & Joe Cooley’s and Eazy-E’s “Eazy-Duz-It” (a clever callback to Kendrick’s Compton roots), the track finds Future and Kendrick exchanging aggressive verses, but Kendrick’s has flabbergasted fans wondering if he’s taking shots at the two other members of the so-called “Big Three,” Drake and J. Cole.
Did Kendrick Lamar Diss Drake And J. Cole On Future & Metro Boomin’s New Album?
In his verse, Kendrick raps two lines that lend themselves to this view. At about the midway point of the verse, he says, “F*ck sneak dissin’, first-person shooter, I hope they came with three switches.” This appears to be a reference to Drake and J. Cole’s No. 1 single “First Person Shooter,” which appeared on Drake’s album For All The Dogs just ahead of the duo announcing a joint tour.
In the second apparent reference to his seeming rivals, Kendrick punctuates his verse with an even more obvious reference: “Motherf*ck the big three,” he exclaims. “It’s just big me.” He also references Drake’s recent album, which contains a boasting comparison of the Canadian MC to King of Pop Michael Jackson, sneering, “Prince outlive Mike Jack’ / ‘fore all your dawgs gettin’ buried / That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.”
Final verdict: Yes, it would seem that Kendrick Lamar is indeed going at the heads of his fellow chart-toppers, in a much less ambiguous showing than Big Sean’s reference to the Big Three earlier this week. It looks like the discourse about just who’s the best has started up all over again. May God help us all.

Both Metro and Future have been teasing the album over the course of the past year, and the first of two announced projects has proven worth the wait. When Future and Metro get together, the end result is always a banger, and a Travis Scott feature adds a bit of razzle dazzle. On We Don’t Trust You, the three hip-hop powerhouses join forces for “Cinderella,” a long-awaited collaboration, which Metro and Future have been teasing at sets recently.
On “Cinderella,” Future and Travis reach braggadocious and stylish new heights, as they rap about their drip over a glimmer beat produced by Metro.
“Racks up, racks stuck together / Sip red, talk to the devil / Rosetta stones forever / High yellow, canary yellow / Hot chocolate, Cinderella,” says Future
On Scott’s verse, the Houston native sticks to his guns, rapping, “You know it’s always levels / Two Ms, that’s on a pedal / This b*tch made that b*tch jealous / This cup ain’t never fail us.”

It’s been just about two years since Future last released an album, that being his Grammy-nominated I Never Liked You. The project was also home to the Grammy-winning “Wait For U” which also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Fast-forward to today and Future’s upcoming project will reunite with longtime producer Metro Boomin. For several months now, Future has been teasing a collaborative project with Metro Boomin, and earlier this month we learned why the process has been a long one. The duo is releasing not one, but two projects over the next month. The first is titled We Don’t Trust You and it arrives on March 22. Ahead of its release, Future and Metro debuted its tracklist.
The tracklist for We Don’t Trust You features 17 songs, though collaborations have not been revealed.
We Don’t Trust You joins the long list of collaborative projects that Future has released in his career. They include projects with Super Slimey with Young Thug, WRLD On Drugs with the late Juice WRLD, and Pluto X Baby Plutowith Lil Uzi Vert (one can hope that we’ll still get that super collab project Super Slimey 2 with Gunna, Young Thug, and Lil Baby.)
Future and Metro Boomin aren’t done though as their second project, which remains untitled at the moment, will arrive on April 12.

Future and Metro Boomin are releasing the first of their two collaboration albums in just a few hours. We Don’t Trust You was first teased back in January 2023 on social media, so the anticipation for it has been building for quite a while.
Although the album’s tracklist has yet to be released, there have been a couple of teasers, including Metro Boomin saying that Playboi Carti would appear on “Type Sh*t.” The duo also performed unreleased songs during their set at Rolling Loud California, with Travis Scott appearing on two of them. It’s unclear if these will make the record, but fans will have to wait and see when it drops tonight.

The top-tier hip-hop duo debuted “Type Sh*t” during their Rolling Loud California 2024 headlining set, as circulated by fan accounts on X (formerly Twitter). Metro Boomin and Playboi Carti had previously teased the song, leaving people to wonder about the featured artists on Future and Metro Boomin’s forthcoming two joint albums, We Don’t Trust You.

The first We Don’t Trust You release date is Friday, March 22, which means the album should be available to stream on Spotify at 9 p.m. PST and midnight EST. The second release date is set for Friday, April 12.
Metro Boomin and Future announced We Don’t Trust You with a cinematic trailer on March 8. But Metro teased it several times last year. In September, Metro posted an Instagram carousel full of photos from the studio with Future with the caption, “AOTY loading… [three battery emojis].”
The following month, Metro Boomin told Complex‘s Jessica McKinney, “My blinders on tunnel vision. All I can see right now is me and Future’s album. Nothing else until that’s out.”

The Title References Metro’s Most Iconic Producer Tag
Like many prominent hip-hop producers, Metro Boomin utilizes several different signature producer tags in his beats. While many of his tags are highly regarded by his fans, the Future-sung refrain “if young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon’ shoot you” is widely recognized as his best. The vocal passage was first recorded during a studio session with Future, Metro Boomin, and Uncle Murda, for the 2015 track “Right Now.”
The tag has since been utilized in iconic Metro Boomin-produced outings for artists such as Drake, Kanye West, and others. In the official “Right Now” Genius lyric annotations from Uncle Murda, the Brooklyn rapper stated “I’m not gonna lie, I definitely didn’t know this line was going to be as big as it is right now. Young Metro did an interview and let people know that the origins of this line was from ‘Right Now.’ Now it’s on Kanye’s TLOP record and on all these memes, it’s dope.”
4. The Pair Previewed Tracks At Rolling Loud
Future and Metro Boomin previewed a few unreleased tracks from We Don’t Trust You during their March 17 headlining performance at Rolling Loud in Los Angeles, California. Although the tracklist for the new album hasn’t been unveiled to the public yet, the duo treated fans to live renditions of tracks titled “Cinderella,” “Type Sh*t,” and “Like That.” This exciting performance marks the most substantial behind-the-scenes glimpse audiences have received for the album to date, prompting fans to flock to the official Rolling Loud YouTube channel to relive the experience repeatedly.
Future and Metro Boomin have not yet announced a tour for their new material, though it is assumed that the duo will launch a nationwide concert experience after both halves of We Don’t Trust You release. If their nearly 90-minute Rolling Loud performance is any indication of what fans can expect from the duo, the concert is sure to sell out in record time.
Despite previous claims from Metro Boomin that We Don’t Trust You will tout no features, the new tracks played at Rolling Loud tell a different story. Of the three new songs previewed during the live performance, all three tout guest verses from Travis Scott, while one track, “Type Sh*t” has another feature from Playboi Carti. The announcement trailer for We Don’t Trust You was first released on March 8, and shows Future and Metro Boomin racing across the desert to meet with a suitcase. The slowly building momentum of orchestral chords utilized in the trailer builds a great deal of anticipation, as an audio track of deceased Mobb Deep legend Prodigy expresses disdain for the musical landscape. Roc Marciano previously used this audio bit for the intro “Select Few” from his 2019 album Marcielago.
The trailer offers a great deal of cinematic value, hinting that a full-length music video from this location is still forthcoming. As Future and Metro Boomin demonstrated with their recent Rolling Loud set, the visual aesthetic of We Don’t Trust You commands a great deal of attention. With so much time and care put into each small glimpse of the upcoming double album, it seems clear to fans around the world that we may have a classic on our hands.

Every year, some of the biggest stars in rap and R&B gather in one place. Over the weekend that place was Los Angeles for the 2024 Rolling Loud LA Festival. With four big-name headliners and dozens of beloved supporting acts, everybody got a taste of something they love during the festival. While everyone goes to music festivals for different artists and different reasons, these were some of the best sets of the weekend that brought both energy and theatricality to the festival stage.
For a lot of artists, the spectacle is as much a part of the show as anything else. That was definitely the case right out of the gate for Summer’s Saturday Night performance at the GoPuff stage. With an impressive live band and array of backup dancers she made her presence known instantly upon arrival. But unlike some of the weekend’s other most theatrical performances, there was actually substance underneath the flash.
Throughout her set, Walker brushed through numerous fan favorites as well as some of her newest material. Throughout, Walker’s vocals were stunning, consistently soaring above the live instrumentation. Her performance was strong enough to reach the dramatic peaks of some of her most dramatic sonic moments and it made the set an absolute delight.
Rolling Loud has a reputation for virality. That often comes from huge moments where the biggest names in hip-hop take an absolutely massive stage to show off their sheer force of star power. The only set of the entire weekend that lived up to that level of grandiosity was the Sunday night headlining slot of Future and Metro Boomin. The two superstars closed out the entire festival with a career-spanning performance that lived up to the promise of Rolling Loud.
Just a few weeks ago the pair confirmed that they have two new albums on the way very soon. Throughout the set, they continually promised that it was going to be some of the best music of the year. From what they performed live, many fans agreed, In particular, when the duo had fellow stars Travis Scott and Playboi Carti join them on stage it made for one of the best and most talked about moments of the entire weekend.
Saturday night, Flo Milli hit the GoPuff stage in the wake of a major couple of weeks for her. She’s scored one of her biggest hits to date with the single “Never Lose Me,” which just got a new remix featuring SZA and Cardi B. She also just released her new album Fine Ho, Stay her first new project since 2022. All of that gave her plenty of reason to celebrate and flex, which is exactly what she did throughout her set.
She delivered one fan-favorite cut after another spanning her entire career during the 30-minute set. Much like her albums, it was an absolute banger fest. For one song after another Flo Milli routinely got the chance to spit confident bars and hard-hitting catchy refrains. With an audience clearly packed full of die-hard fans the intensity and attitude of the performance was unrivaled for the entire weekend.
It’s only fitting that two of California’s finest would deliver one of the best performances of Rolling Loud Los Angeles. YG first appeared on Thursday night alongside Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, and a myriad of other guests for the VULTURES listening party. But that was nothing compared to the energy he would bring to his own set on Friday. He’s celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album My Krazy Life and kicked off the set with fiery performances of some of the album’s classics.
But the highlight of the show came once the pair went back to back in the second half. They did an impromptu live Verzuz on stage that reminded fans they both have hit after hit. That even included a surprise appearance from Saweetie alongside YG where they tantalized the crowd by flirting on stage. The celebration of two of the West Coast’s finest felt like one of those Rolling Loud moments that fans will talk about for years to come.
One of the most signature elements of Rolling Loud is the raucous crowds. Nearly every year videos of massive mosh pits breaking out with fans going absolutely wild hit the internet and go viral. It’s arguably the hallmark of the entire festival. Yet the only crowd of the weekend that really felt like it lived up to that high bar of intensity was Ski Mask The Slump God. He’s no Rolling Loud novice and you could tell as he seemingly knew exactly what songs to deliver to get the crowd hype.
During the second half of the set, he paid tribute to both XXXTENTACION and Juice Wrld and the crowd chanted along with nearly every word of every song. From the more intimate moments where cell phone lights swayed back and forth to the throttling intensity of songs like “Rip Roach,” Ski Mask’s set was the weekend’s lone moment that felt like it was destined to be the next viral Rolling Loud crowd hype video. Nobody all weekend was in command of the stage and the crowd more than Ski Mask The Slump God.
Chicago’s iconic music festival, Lollapalooza, is back with a stellar lineup for 2024. Headliners include SZA, Tyler, The Creator, blink-182, The Killers, Future X Metro Boomin, Hozier, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez, and Skrillex. The four-day extravaganza, set to take place from August 1-4 at Grant Park, promises over 170 bands across eight stages.

It’s finally time; one of the most-anticipated hip-hop albums of 2024 (and technically, of 2023) is finally set to arrive. Well, half of it, anyway. Future and Metro Boomin first teased their joint project, We Don’t Trust You, back in January 2023, calling it the “album of the year” despite not yet even having a release date. Metro continued teasing the project that summer but still had no idea when it would come out by October.
Metro called the album his “top focus” in October, but it still missed the window for being the best album of 2023 — so it looks like they’ll just have to settle for having the best album of 2024. Except that earlier this month, when they finally revealed its release date, it turned out that they’d wound up making two albums. The first of which will be We Don’t Trust You, a reference to Metro’s producer tag (one of them, anyway) in which Future declares, “If young Metro don’t trust you, we gon’ shoot you.”

No tour has been announced as of press time (Monday, March 18 10:00am PT) but it seems likely that either or both will tour for the album — most likely, an announcement would come after the second album releases on April 12.
To close out Rolling Loud in Inglewood, California this past weekend, Future and Metro Boomindid the honors of being the headlining acts. It seems like it was a huge success for this iconic trap rap hitmaking duo. Some of their standout performances included Quavo joining them to play “Turn Yo Clic Up,” as well as “Mask Off.” However, another one of their surprise guests helped make this segment of their time on stage the talk of the evening. Travis Scott joined Future and Metro Boomin for a live taste of their upcoming collaboration “Type S***.”
This has been the only track that Metro and Future have really promoted ahead of their forthcoming LP We Don’t Trust You. The duo announced the record, along with a second about a week and a half ago. It is scheduled to drop on March 22, with the unnamed follow-up supposedly coming on April 12. This is now the third time this song has been played. Playboi Carti, who can be heard the most in the performance below, previewed the snippet as well.
However, with Metro saying there will be no features on the record, fans are still left hanging on the edge of their seats. This is especially true because there are just four days remaining before we get something from the Georgia icons. There are also some theories floating around that this will be a Carti track for Music. Him and Metro have been reportedly cooking up stuff as of late, so there is that. Wherever it winds up, the song looks to be a hit.
