Fans Get Into Tense Argument Over Ciara Reportedly Clearing A Sample For Megan Thee Stallion And Not Stunna Girl

At the top of 2024, rapper Stunna Girl put out a song with YG called “Stand Up.” The track sampled R&B stalwart Ciara’s iconic hit “Goodies.” However, it didn’t take long for the singer’s team to take action. She was asked to remove the track from YouTube due to copyright infringement. The single does remain on her DSP accounts, but it’s safe to say that Stunna Girl was incredibly frustrated over the whole debacle. “I literally hate when producers use samples. These artists be actin’ like they made the beat it’s so many people that used that beat but @ciara team writing me saying she personally contacted them about me.”

Fans clapped back at her for putting CiCi and her team on blast saying that she doesn’t know the correct protocol for clearing things. After that spat in January, things have remained dormant, at least until this past weekend. Megan Thee Stallion used the exact Ciara sample on the MEGAN: ACT II cut with Flo Milli “Roc Steady.” However, there are reports out there that she cleared “Goodies” for the Houston act and not Stunna Girl.

Fans Have A Few Reasons For Why Ciara Gave The Ok To Megan And Not Stunna Girl

This sparked a pretty intense debate amongst fans of all three artists in The Neighborhood Talk‘s IG comment section. Some are staunchly defending Ciara’s reported decision with them saying she’s allowed to give the OK to whoever she wants. Others feel that it had to do with who was going to bring in the most revenue for CiCi. Given that Megan is globally more popular than Stunna Girl, they feel it was a no-brainer. Furthermore, there’s people theorizing that Ciara likes what Meg represents compared to the Cali talent. Finally, others claimed that Stunna’s track was too horrific for her to use the record.

What are your thoughts on fans arguing over Megan Thee Stallion reportedly getting the OK to use a Ciara sample that Stunna Girl wasn’t allowed to use? Do you think the former handled things the right way with the R&B act’ and her team? Or do you think CiCi is playing favorites? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, and Stunna Girl. Megan Thee Stallion Names The ‘Beautiful’ Singer She Wants To See Dressed Up As Her For Halloween

With the possible exception of Heidi Klum, no one goes more all out for Halloween than Megan Thee Stallion. Last year alone, she was a flower from Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, Death The Kid from anime Soul Eater, and the lady gremlin from Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

What does she have in store for 2024? We have to wait until the Hottieween party to find out, but in an interview with Nylon, the “Bigger In Texas” rapper was asked which celebrity she’d like see in a Megan Thee Stallion costume this Halloween. “I would want to see Victoria Monét dress up as me,” she said. “People already think that we look alike, so I would like to see how she would dress up as me. She is so beautiful. I feel like she would either do the green look from the ‘Bigger In Texas’ video, or she would do the original Tina Snow cover.”

A key to a good Megan costume? Having a good butt. “If I could gift the hotties a pair of jeans from the collection, it would be the pair with the wings on the butt,” Megan, speaking as the new True Religion spokesperson, said. “I love a good baggy jean, and I love bringing attention to my butt. I got a good butt, and I feel like the hotties would want to show that part of them off, too.”

Appellate Court Seek To Reinvestigate Tory Lanez Case After Accepting Appeal

Tory Lanez’s career was not looking good. The rapper was sentenced to a decade in prison for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, and is currently being held at California Correctional Institution. He had tried to keep his musical output going with the Prison Tapes series, but even those were cut short. Lanez seemed doomed to fade into irrelevance behind bars, but a major development surfaced on October 25. An L.A. Appellate Court has accepted Tory Lanez’s innocence claim, which means Lanez’s case could be reinvestigated.

DJ Akademiks obtained court documents confirming the accepted appeal. The acceptance means that the District Attorney will have two weeks to respond. If given the opportunity, however, investigators will take a second look at Lanez’s conviction. In particular, there will be an investigation into the allegation that the rapper was unfairly prosecuted. This has the potential to be life-changing for Lanez. The rapper was found guilty of first-degree assault with a firearm. He was also found guilty of discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. He will not be eligible for parole until September 2029.

Tory Lanez Has Maintained That He’s Innocent

This is the first big development in the Tory Lanez case since July. The rapper’s former driver, Jauquan Smith, submitted an affidavit in which he claimed he didn’t actually see Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion. The defense council claimed that Smith was not allowed to testify during Lanez’s trial. They also felt the affidavit was reason enough to launch another trial. The California prosecutors contested this request, however. Michael C. Keller, the Deputy Attorney General, posited that Smith’s testimony would not have significantly changed the outcome of the trial.

“Defense counsel conceded that Smith would not have been a helpful witness,” Keller noted. “Because of his bias and the cumulative nature of his proffered testimony.” Tory Lanez has maintained that he is innocent, despite his conviction. Shortly before his decade-long sentence began, the rapper told fans that he was “wrongfully convicted.” He also refused to apologize to Megan Thee Stallion. “In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongly convicted of,” he wrote. Time will tell if Lanez’s assertions are vindicated.

Megan Thee Stallion Shows Her Adoration For Houston Rap Culture With “Bigger In Texas” Visual

Megan Thee Stallion, while providing a lot of bangers on MEGAN, it’s subsequent ACT II takes all gas and no brakes to a new level. If the cover wasn’t telling enough for you, it does hint at the sonic direction for these 13 new tracks. The gaudy diamond-encrusted font and her extravagant grill scream that this is going to be strictly Southern hip-hop slappers. Right on cue, you are going to put in the time machine as the Houston rapper is doing just that with the wavy synths to the familiar drum patterns. This is easily the most she has leaned into her H-Town roots in her music and most of the love letters do the era justice.

One of those prime examples is “Bigger In Texas,” the lead-off cut for this extended version of her self-titled record. The brand-new visual especially shows off her love for the Lone Star State with the over-the-top lowriders, Johnny Dang’s famous jewelry store, and plenty of cameos from artists that paved the way. Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and Sauce Walka are just a few that show love to the H-Town Hottie. As for the track itself, Meg brings her patented flow, adlibs, bars, and the whole bit and it’s a pretty impressive display regardless of how much you’ve heard this formula. There are some hilarious flashes of her humor as well with gut-busting bars like, “Pockets gettin’ thickеr and thicker, I’m tastin’ the money, it look likе I ate a few hundreds / I just hopped on a G6, I’m gettin’ head while I’m playin’ my Switch, hm.”

At one point, the combination of DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion could not miss. Blowing up in Hip-Hop around the same time, the two were a go-to formula for bangers, but that went left after DaBaby aligned himself with Tory Lanez after he shot Hot Girl Meg.

Appearing on Drink Champs, DaBaby feels like no one fit next to her on wax like him and he wants her to “come home.”

“I got love for Meg,” DaBaby said. “Me and Meg made some dope shit together and it’s good to see her rise above the obstacles.”

He also stated he wants to work on a song with Thee Stallion and GloRilla, but the priority is back to collaborating with the Houston Hottie. “I feel like ain’t none of these n-ggas — and no disrespect to who y’all making music with — can really embody that. You gotta come get that shit from Baby.”

He also stated, “Come home, baby. You ain’t gotta be making all that lame shit with these other n-ggas when you can come get it in.”

You can hear it below.

Megan Thee Stallion Proves That Everything Is ‘Bigger In Texas’ With Her New Video

It should come as no surprise that Texas native Megan Thee Stallion has repurposed her home state’s unofficial slogan for her latest single. In fact, the only surprise is that it took so long for her to make “Bigger In Texas,” considering how much pride she has for her hometown, Houston, and the surrounding territory.

“Bigger In Texas” arrives along with 10 other all-new songs as part of her new album, Megan: Act II. Also included on the new project are a remix of her social media favorite, “Mamushi,” featuring K-pop girl group Twice, and the previously released RM collaboration, “Neva Play.” And while fans weren’t sure about the new collection’s artwork, they’ll almost certainly eat up new collaborations with Flo Milli (“Roc Steady”) and Spiritbox (“TYG”).

The new version of Megan follows a productive year for Thee Stallion, who independently released the original Megan as she completed her Hot Girl Summer Tour along with GloRilla. She also collaborated with Glo a couple of times, first on “Wanna Be,” then on its remix with Cardi B, and most recently on “How I Look,” leading to calls for the duo to consider a collaboration album — calls they appear ready to oblige. Meg also teamed up with Latto and Flo Milli on their “Sunday Service” remix. All that in just 2024 makes you wonder just how much she’ll be able to get done in 2025.

You can watch the “Bigger In Texas” video above.

“MEGAN: ACT II” Is Megan Thee Stallion’s Most Entertaining Album Yet

Megan Thee Stallion did not take much time off. The rapper dropped her titular album, MEGAN, in June, and now she’s back with a sequel. The first MEGAN featured the number one single “HISS,” along with a varied roster of features. She held her own with UGK and GloRilla, to exemplify how varied. MEGAN: ACT II is a different affair, however. There are definitely varied sounds and features, as evidenced by a collab with BTS star RM. “Neva Play” proved Megan Thee Stallion was not a one trick pony (no pun intended), and MEGAN: ACT II reiterates this with a concise and punchy collection of songs.

To be clear, MEGAN: ACT II is sequel and a deluxe version of the original all in one. All the hits you loved from the first album are present, but the new songs are much more fun to discuss. “Number One Rule” has a menacing instrumental and a relentless flow from Megan. It sounds like something pulled out of the 8Ball & MJG playbook, and Megan does the sound justice. “Bourbon” has a freestyle feel to it, and it gives the rapper a chance to casually talk her talk. The biggest surprise, though, is the penultimate song, “Like a Freak.” Megan Thee Stallion spits over the beat to Far East Movement’s “Like a G6.” It’s the sort of obvious sample that’s bound to blow up on social media.
