Megan Thee Stallion Drops Mystical Trailer For “Megan: Act 2”

It’s been a busy week for Megan Thee Stallion, and recently, she decided to end it with an exciting announcement. Yesterday, the “Hiss” performer took to Instagram to announce the second installment of Megan. In the mystical teaser, Meg takes on the form of a butterfly. “Stay tuned hotties,” she captioned the post.

Obviously, the Hotties are very much tuned in, and can’t wait to see what else Meg has up her sleeve. For now, it remains unclear exactly when they can expect to hear Megan: Act 2, though they’re hopeful it’ll be sooner rather than later. The first installment of the album was unleashed in June of this year, shortly after she embarked on her “Hot Girl Summer” tour.

Megan Thee Stallion Prepares To Unleash Second Installment Of Megan

The news arrived just after Meg hosted the VMAs this week, paying homage to both Beyonce and Britney Spears with two of her looks, as well as a yellow python. It also follows the release of her new track with RM of BTS, “Neva Play.” She also teamed up with Travis Kelce and other NFL players for a Pepsi ad earlier this month, which featured her remix of Queen’s 1977 hit “We Will Rock You.” Aside from all of these major developments in her career, Meg has also been making headlines for her relationship with the Chicago Bulls’ Torrey Craig.

She seemingly hard-launched her relationship with the NBA star late last month with a fun and since-deleted TikTok video. They were also spotted together in New York City last weekend, further fueling the rumors that they’re an item. What do you think of Megan Thee Stallion teasing the second act of her third album, Megan? Are you looking forward to it? Megan Thee Stallion Turned Up In Her 2024 VMAs Performance Of ‘Boa,’ ‘B.A.S.,’ ‘Hiss,’ And ‘Mamushi’

In addition to hosting the 2024 MTV VMAs, Megan Thee Stallion was also booked as a performer. She absolutely killed both roles, pulling out some iconic looks from the show’s past during her hosting duties, and then burning the house down with her performance, which included hits “Boa,” “B.A.S.,” “Hiss,” and “Mamushi,” for which she was joined by guest rapper Yuki Chiba in his first US performance. The Houston hottie is also nominated for five awards, with Best Hip-Hop, Best Direction, and Best Visual Effects among them.

Meg’s had a busy 2024, dropping her new album Megan while completing her Hot Girl Summer Tour with GloRilla, during which she became one of the WNBA’s biggest supporters by bringing players like Natasha Cloud and Angel Reese on stage with her. Then, she joined Kamala Harris’ campaign, declaring that the Vice President is “for the Hotties” during a performance at one of the Presidential hopeful’s rallies.

And just when it seemed like she’d delivered all the new music she had to offer this year, she teamed up once again with BTS’s RM for another cross-cultural collaboration, “Neva Play.” Oh, and she seemingly hard-launched her relationship with NBA player Torrey Craig, so it looks like she’s having her fair share of play along with all that work.

Megan Thee Stallion Is A Venomous Vixen In Music Video For “Mamushi”

Megan Thee Stallion’s comeback has been one of much success. Her self-titled third studio album MEGAN performed very well in its first week, selling a respectable 64,000 copies. That was good enough for a number three debut on the Billboard Hot 200 and it’s currently sitting at number 40. A lot of tracks have been garnering a lot of love from fans and one of them is Megan Thee Stallion and Yuki Chiba’s “Mamushi”. The track is an ode to her adoration for Japan and its culture, and her being able pay respect to it on her biggest album has to have felt good. Since it landed on the Hot 100 five weeks ago, the track has not left and right now it’s in at the 36th slot.

It makes sense why it remains pretty high too. “Mamushi” is one of the slickest and catchiest songs on the record thanks to Megan’s melody on the chorus. Additionally, her rapping in Japanese alongside Yuki Chiba was a fun addition. At some point, a music video was bound to come to fruition and that day is today, according to Uproxx. There were some hints of this being in the works in late July, as she announced the filming of the video in Japan was getting underway on her IG. The video is a creative one, as there appears to be a fun callback to Rush Hour 2. A man walks into spa and selects Megan to be his masseuse. However, she transforms into Japan’s deadliest snake, the Mamushi, and kills him. In fact, anytime a man leers at her, she turns into this venomous reptile. It’s another way of alluding to Megan shedding her past and the men she deems no good.

Megan Thee Stallion’s NSFW New ‘Mamushi’ Video Sees Her Transform Into A Gigantic Snake

Megan Thee Stallion has frequently proven that she’s a lover of Japanese culture, whether she’s busting out Sailor Moon cosplay or presenting at the Anime Awards. Her love for the country continues to shine through in her latest output, a new video for the Yuki Chiba collaboration “Mamushi.”

A mamushi is a venomous type of viper found in Japan, and it turns out that Meg herself becomes one in the video. It starts with a man, played by Japanese actor Shô Kasamatsu, visiting a spa. There, he’s given a variety of women to choose from (in an apparent Rush Hour 2 reference), and he opts for Meg. Quickly, though, she transforms into a gigantic mamushi, which doesn’t bode well for Kasamatsu’s character. Between transformations and other goings-on, Megan hangs out in the spa and raps the song while frequently naked.

The video was filmed in multiple locations in Tokyo including the Tsurumaki Onsen Jinya (an onsen is a type of bath facility) and the Engaku-ji Temple (a major Zen Buddhist temple in Japan).

The visual arrives during a busy time for Meg: She just popped up at a Kamala Harris rally, she features on Latto’s new album, and a documentary about her life appears to be on the way soon.

Megan Thee Stallion Lands In Japan To Film “Mamushi” Music Video

Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she’s landed in Japan to film a music video for her song, “Mamushi.” She made the announcement on Instagram, earlier this week, before teasing a return to Washington D.C. for her next concert. In the caption of a recap from her London show on the Hot Girl Summer Tour, she wrote: “London was a movie [five star emojis] We just landed in Japan for thee MAMUSHI VIDEO [three hand clap emojis] Then DC hotties I’m coming to youuuu [four fire emojis].”

Fans in the comments section were hype about the tour. “You were perfect, genuinely one of the best experiences of my life,” one user wrote. Another added: “Continue to grind and stay focused Meg! I’m always rooting for you sis.” One more fan asked: “And Otaku Hot Girl music video too rightttttttt??????????”

Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘MEGAN’ Debuts at No. 3, Largest Rap Debut for Woman in 2024

Megan Thee Stallion Unveils New Album 'MEGAN' Feat. Victoria Monet, UGK, GloRilla & More

Megan Thee Stallion has debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with her new album, MEGAN. This latest release marks her sixth top 10 effort, earning 64,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The total includes 47,000 streaming equivalent album units (62.67 million on-demand streams), 16,000 in album sales, and 1,000 track equivalent album units. MEGAN is the biggest debut for a rap album by a woman in 2024 and the first top 10-charting rap album by a woman this year.

Taylor Swift leads the chart with her 11th week at No. 1, followed by Morgan Wallen at No. 2. Billie Eilish sits at No. 4. Chappell Roan enters the top five for the first time with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess at No. 5. The rest of the top 10 includes Wallen again at No. 6, Peso Pluma, Shaboozey, Noah Kahan, and Beyoncé from Nos. 7 to 10.

Megan Thee Stallion’s First Week Sales For “MEGAN” Draw Mixed Reactions

Megan Thee Stallion finally came through with MEGAN, her long-awaited solo comeback since going independent, and it certainly made a splash. The album landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart with around 64K in first-week sales, which has caused a field day on social media thanks to the Houston femcee’s beef with Nicki Minaj, among other considerations. For one, Barbz were cackling at 64K considering that Pink Friday 2 sold almost four times that in its first week. On the other hand, music fans at large might not find these numbers as impressive, but albums sales just aren’t what they used to be across the board for most artists… well, unless you’re Taylor Swift, that is.

Regardless, Megan Thee Stallion fans are still pretty happy with these numbers, bringing up no big features and label issues from going independent, plus little radio play, as obstacles that should’ve resulted in even less than 64K. Also, in terms of visibility and social media conversation, Meg’s not going anywhere anytime soon and is working hard to cater to her hardcore fans. But Nicki Minaj already seemed to dismiss MEGAN‘s first-week sales, and comparison is the thief of joy. Maybe if they actually had a back-and-forth diss track showdown, fans could depend on this metric for their discussions.

Megan Thee Stallion’s MEGAN‘s First Week Sales

However, we also know that some factors jeopardized the legitimacy of MEGAN‘s numbers, and at least they caught it before first-week sales numbers hit. Spotify reportedly removed 30 million streams from Megan Thee Stallion’s albums numbers on the platform, allegedly due to these being bot streams. While we don’t actually know the reason why this change occurred, it still drew the ire and defense of many fans online. Especially considering Tina Snow’s blasting of bots on “HISS,” it’s not the best look, albeit one that she likely had nothing to do with.

Meanwhile, the “Otaku Hot Girl” femcee is living large these days, enjoying every last second of this MEGAN rollout amid all the chaos. It will be interesting to see what sticks around from this tracklist and if the album as a whole will continue to perform commercially. After all, no one’s doubting that Megan Thee Stallion could very well best these numbers with some big promos, headlines, or other supportive releases. So let’s see what happens, and what will be the next Billboard debut to debate.

Nicki Minaj Has Fans Convinced She’s Mocking Megan Thee Stallion’s First Week Sales

Late last month, Megan Thee Stallion finally unveiled her eagerly anticipated third studio album, Megan. The album, which boasts appearances from the likes of GloRilla and UGK, has been a hit among fans so far. Unfortunately, however, critics have been quick to jump at any opportunity to drag the “Hiss” rapper.

Recently, for example, it was revealed that the project sold just over 64K album-equivalent units in its first week. While this is certainly no lousy feat, fans think her longtime rival Nicki Minaj is already throwing shade. Yesterday, for example, the “FTCU” performer took to X to share an image of Chucky wearing a devious smile and holding up a camcorder.

Nicki Minaj Shares Mysterious Chucky Meme

She didn’t include a caption, leaving the meme up for interpretation, but commenters are convinced this was directed at Meg. A few minutes later, she followed up with yet another Chucky image. Of course, it’s unconfirmed whether or not this was intended as shade. She shared the posts right as reports that Meg had millions of streams removed from her album on Spotify due to alleged botting circulated online, however. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear as though Meg is too bothered. She’s currently gearing up to embark on the Europe and UK leg of her “Hot Girl Summer” tour, which begins tonight with a performance in Paris.

As for Nicki, she made headlines last week for sharing a lengthy rant about her former manager Deb Antney for revealing that she once reached out to Lil Kim behind her back. Over the weekend, the two seemingly made amends, as they were spotted together on Instagram Live previewing an unreleased song. What do you think of Megan Thee Stallion’s new album Megan reportedly selling 64K in its first week? What about fans speculating that Nicki Minaj was shading her with Chucky memes?
