Stars Lupita Nyong’o and Pedro Pascual are voices in the official new trailer for The Wild Robot from DreamWorks Animation. The animated film is adapted from a bestselling middle-grade novel of the same name authored by Peter Brown.
As reported by Shadow and Act, Brown is known for his Wild Robot series, which has garnered much critical acclaim and a slew of awards, including the Caldecott Honor, a Horn Book Award, two E.B. White Awards, two E.B. White Honors, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, two Irma Black Honors, a Golden Kite Award and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award.
The film was written and directed by Chris Sanders. Nyong’o will voice ROZZUM unit 7134, or “Roz” for short – who is “a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.”
The Last of Us and The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascual will voice fox Fink, and Catherine O’Hara as opossum Pinktail, along with Bill Nighy as goose Longneck, Kit Connor as gosling Brightbill and Stephanie Hsu as Vontra, who is a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island. The Wild Robot also features Mark Hamill, Matt Berry and Ving Rhames. Wow. No big deal there!

In October 2023, Jodie Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Joshua Jackson. The couple had been together for four years and share a daughter named Juno Rose Diana. Lupita coincidentally split from Selema Masekela in the same month. Soon after their separations, Joshua Jackson and Lupita Nyong’o were subsequently spotted at a Janelle Monáe concert in Inglewood, California. In the company of friends, the duo seemed to be getting comfortably close. This sparked a flurry of dating rumors, but the two neither confirmed nor denied the suspicions.
In December, the duo strolled hand in hand during a grocery shopping excursion in Joshua Tree. The couple were also spotted participating in some heavy and unabashed PDA. The full video is as equally confusing but intriguing as the teaser. It depicts him and Lupita acting out scenes for their upcoming action film. The part where the two artists are about to kiss winds up being a dream as he is back in his “bedroom” watching Lupita on a late-night talk show discussing said movie. However, that too is a scene for the motion picture. It really bends and twists your mind in all the best ways.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and Brent Faiyaz has chosen the most romantic holiday to release his short film for “WY@.” It’s a typically contrarian move from the Maryland singer, whose musical oeuvre tends to run counter to the warm feelings normally associated with R&B music. The single, which he first released in September 2023, has lyrics like “You’re the death of me / And the remedy,” describing a toxic, codependent situationship that he just can’t seem to let go — you know, real Valentine’s Day stuff.
Faiyaz announced the film’s release date with a trailer featuring actress Lupita Nyong’o, which looks like a snippet of the full video. In the clip, he and Nyong’o sit at a coffee table under dim lighting on what looks like a soundstage. Faiyaz can’t help but flirt with the Quiet Place: Day One actress, who seems more receptive to his come-ons than you might think (give that woman an Oscar right now!). The clip ends with a smash cut to black just as he leans in to plant a kiss on Lupita’s lips. Lupita Nyong’o has confirmed that she has split from boyfriend Selema Masekela. “There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering. At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” Nyong’o began a lengthy Instagram caption. She had been dating the sports commentator since December 2022.
However, Nyong’o was also spotted out-and-about with another newly-single individual. Earlier this week, the actress attended Janelle Monáe’s concert in LA alongside fellow actor Joshua Jackson. Jackson recently announced his split from Jodie Turner-Smith. However, there’s nothing to say that the link-up was any more than two friends finding solace in company and good music. Nyong’o and Jackson have never appeared on screen together.
However, Nyong’o and Jackson aren’t the only people rediscovering single life it seems. A tweet from tennis star Naomi Osaka has fans speculating that she may have broken up with rapper Cordae. “I just want someone that will watch the sunset with me,” Osaka wrote on social media while also removing any trace of her child’s father from her online presence. It’s not the first time that Osaka has hinted at a breakup. On September 27, she wrote “the art of loving yourself” while also liking a post about “walking away from those who don’t value you”. For Cordae’s part, he did not acknowledge Osaka’s birthday this week and appeared absent from her celebrations.
The couple has been together since July 2019, when Cordae officially confirmed rumors that had been circulating since April. The pair weathered Osaka’s decline from the highest echelon of pro tennis as she suffered injuries and chose to step back to focus on her mental health. The couple welcomed a daughter, Shai, this past July.
Lupita Nyong’o spoke about her friendship with Janelle Monáe during a recent profile for Rolling Stone. In doing so, she commented on the rumors the two previously dated each other. The actress says that the rumors didn’t come as a surprise.
“She has magnetism that they were obviously picking up on,” Nyong’o said. “She is that enigmatic. People are curious about enigmatic people. I was not surprised. And I don’t mind being associated with her in any capacity.”

Nyong’o also admitted that despite their close relationship, she still can’t entirely know Monáe: “Just because you’re a close friend of hers doesn’t mean you get to know everything about her. I think that’s what makes her interesting as an artist.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone isn’t the first time Nyong’o has commented on Monáe. At the Met Gala, she recalled the first time she met Monáe following her breakout role in the 2013 movie 12 Years A Slave. Nyong’o said: “This world is still extremely new to me and unbelievable. [Monáe] came up to me and just gave me the realest hug. I think we may have swayed to the music. She was just like, ‘I’m so proud of you, and just thank you for being you.’ […] At some point, [Monáe] asked me for my phone, put her number in, and said, ‘Let’s stay in touch.’ She was like, ‘I really mean it. If you need anything, I’m here for you.’”
The Rolling Stone profile comes ahead of the release of Monáe’s new album, The Age of Pleasure. She shared the first single from the project, “Lipstick Lover,” earlier this month. The full album will be releasing on June 9.

Following a triumphant return to the screen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever recently, Lupita Nyong’o is feeling on top of the world. So much so, in fact, that the actress is feeling ready to let down her guard and give fans a look at her latest romance.
In the past, the 39-year-old has markedly kept her love life private. Now, however, a spark is burning with Selema Masekela, a famous TV host and sports commentator. On Friday (December 23) she uploaded a video of them together, showing off only a few of their best outfits.
“We just click! @selema #thisismylove #nuff said,” the actress wrote in the caption. The footage is soundtracked by Iniko’s “The King’s Affirmation – Chill Mix” featuring Reuel Williams.
In unison with the music, we see Nyong’o and Masekela correspondingly snapping as they transition from look to look. Firstly, they appear in matching printed robes, but shortly after that they flaunt their figures in purple cheetah print swimwear.
Next, the 51-year-old embodies the sunshine as he steps into a vibrant yellow suit. For her part, the Marvel starlet dons a neutral floral dress with subtle yellow details. The couple looks ready to dance the night away at a wedding, or model together in a luxury campaign.
At this time, very few details are known about how Nyong’o met her match, though she seems undeniably happy and has a certain glow about her in the sweet debut video.
Previously, she was romantically linked to Black Panther costar Michael B. Jordan. As PEOPLE notes, they staged a makeout scene in a photo booth at a 2019 Golden Globes party. Afterward, though, they both denied dating rumours that came their way.
“It’s flattering at the end of the day,” Nyong’o told Entertainment Tonight several years ago. “I think it’s such a rare thing to find people you have good chemistry with and too for us to find each other as actors and get to work together, it makes the work richer that we truly enjoy each other’s company on and off screen.”
