Quando Rondo’s Federal Sentence Follows Years Of Arrests, Shootings, & Legal Issues

Since he stepped into the Hip Hop scene as a teenager, Quando Rondo has found himself wrapped up in controversy. The Savannah, Georgia, native has released three studio albums and several mixtapes since 2017, but he’s become more known for his Rap beefs and run-ins with the law more than his music. The most significant of Quando’s scandals arrived in 2020 with the murder of Only The Family rapper King Von in Atlanta. Later, in 2022, Rondo, real name Tyquian Bowman, and his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, known as Lul Pab, were ambushed while visiting Los Angeles. Robinson was killed in the attack.

The following year, Rondo was arrested in connection to gang and drug infractions. He was only out on bond for a few months before the FBI nabbed him on federal drug charges. He again bonded out but was picked up for Driving Under the Influence at the top of 2024. More recently, Quando Rondo has learned he will serve over two years in prison after receiving a conviction for those federal charges. It’s been a whirlwind for Bowman within the last few years alone, and some believe that he has often been on a self-destructive path. Let’s take a look at the details regarding Quando’s conviction and sentence, as well as a few of the controversies that preceded his upcoming stint behind bars.

Quando Rondo Convicted Of Federal Drug Charges

Days ago, Quando Rondo learned his fate, and we’re sure he’s dissatisfied with the outcome. As reported by Rolling Stone and the Savannah Morning News, the rapper was sentenced to 33 months in prison on December 12 after entering a guilty plea to a charge of conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana. Moreover, following his release, Bowman will endure “three years of supervised release” and “also must pay a $40,000 fine.” Quando was able to dodge similar, more severe charges related to the possession and distribution of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. He was initially looking at 20 years in prison for the full conviction. However, Rondo’s legal team was able to secure him a minor win by negotiating a lesser sentence with prosecutors.

During the hearing, Quando reportedly addressed the court. Despite a career of trolling his foes and making light of his legal issues, the rapper seemed regretful. “I really want to give an apology to the city of Savannah,” he said. “And I want to give an apology to my family and friends, loved ones, and most of all my daughters for taking all my family and all my loved ones through this stressful point.” Rondo is set to begin serving his sentence sometime in mid-January 2025.

His Cousin Lul Pab’s Murder

The case involving the shooting death of Lul Pab is also tied to the recent arrest of Chicago Drill rapper Lil Durk. In 2022, Rondo and Pab were at a West Hollywood gas station near the famed Beverly Center mall when they were fired upon by masked gunmen, resulting in the latter’s death. Investigators arrested Durk, real name Durk Banks, and five other members of The Voice rapper’s Only The Family crew this year. Police allege that Pab’s murder was retaliation for the killing of King Von. Lil Durk faces charges of murder-for-hire, as authorities contend that he was the mastermind behind Pab’s death—a shooting that was allegedly intended to take out Quando Rondo.

However, though prosecutors are sure of their case, Durk has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The rapper’s indictment reportedly reads, “After the murder, defendant Banks made clear, in coded language, that he would pay a bounty or monetary reward, and/or make payment to anyone who took part in killing [Bowman] for his role in [Bennett’s] murder.” Since Durk’s arrest, he’s been hit with more charges, per Rolling Stone. He also faces “one new count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one new count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.” The case is ongoing and, if convicted, Lil Durk could spend the remainder of his life behind bars.

The Murder Of King Von Following An Altercation With Quando Rondo

Lil Durk and Quando Rondo’s crews didn’t exactly keep their animosity under wraps. The hostility unraveled in social media posts, interviews, and lyrics. While Rap beefs come and go in the culture, not many result in actual acts of violence. Yet, authorities claim these two crews practiced what they preached, and it has erupted in the deaths of at least two people: King Von and Lul Pab. Von was gunned down outside of a nightclub in November 2020 following a reported altercation between his group and Quando Rondo’s associates. Gunfire rang out, and Von was killed; however, Rondo’s team allegedly told police that they were acting in self-defense.

Timothy “Lul Timm” Leeks was later charged with the murder of Von. Rondo would address the incident in his lyrics, emphasizing that he and his friends weren’t the initiates of the fatal fray. Further, Quando’s public support for Timm following Von’s death was a noteworthy point of controversy—especially after Timm sat down for an interview with VladTV. While there, he detailed shooting King Von, stating that he fired at least four times before his gun jammed. You can check out that clip above.

Lul Tim Speaks On Police Shooting Him After King Von Murder And How That Changed His Life

As part of his media tour for his upcoming documentary, Lul Tim recently sat down with DJ Vlad for an interview about the murder of King Von. He recalled how police shot him during the incident, resulting in him having to get a colostomy bag. Tim thanked medical staff for their diligence and assistance, but he admitted that it really threw him off his diet, everyday routines, and the like. Now, he mostly feels recovered even though he’s still dealing with some side effects and post-surgery developments, and it was an arduous process because it lasted for longer than he initially expected.

Elsewhere during the VladTV interview, Lul Tim also recalled the night that he faced a fight and shooting between King Von and Quando Rondo’s crews that resulted in the former’s murder. He regretted that Von allegedly escalated the situation to that level, but also stood by his notion that he juts acted to protect his friends. Tim did clarify that he doesn’t mean any disrespect towards either MC for how the situation panned out, and that it was just a tragic situation all around.

Lul Tim Recalls His Shooting Recovery

In fact, Quando Rondo himself agrees with Lul Tim, as he recently sat down for a DJ Akademiks interview in which he reflected on how unnecessary his beef with King Von really was. “At the end of the day, all this bulls**t that we’re talking about is stupid s**t that could have been handled a totally different way,” he remarked. “It could have been to the point that a song and three or four million dollars could have came out this s**t. It could have got handled in a legit way. In a music way.”

While Lul Tim did not face charges for shooting King Von, you can tell that this whole tragic situation continues to affect everyone involved regardless of their guilt. Things became more complicated when federal authorities arrested Lil Durk for alleged murder-for-hire in retaliation for Von’s death, which opened this story up again. Hopefully all these individuals can find peace and more safety moving forward with no further chances for violence.

Charleston White Poses With King Von’s Alleged Killer And Calls Him “The Demon Slayer” While Addressing Von’s Mother

Charleston White has made his distaste for King Von quite clear over the years. Overall, White has had a lot to say about the late rapper. He mostly talks about Von’s involvement in Chicago street culture, although he does so in perhaps the most disrespectful way possible. On numerous occasions, he has proclaimed how happy he is that Von is no longer here. Of course, this has led to a feud with Von’s family, who aren’t too fond of White’s point of view. In fact, Von’s sister recently tweeted out: “Why I just seen that ho a*s n***a Charleston white wateva his name is. I would have beat his a*s but the police was right there.” This subsequently led to an IG post from White in which he put Von’s sister on blast.

“Dear King Von sister, I want to kindly remind you that your tough a** de*d brother was slumped at a club in Atlanta, Georgia for trying to fight a little skinny n***a!” White wrote. “I’m sure you don’t want join the hump in the ground gang for thinking you’re tough too! I also want to remind you that I embrace your brother K*ller with love, admiration, and appreciation for k*lling your brother!” White subsequently posted pictures of himself with Von’s alleged killer Lul Timm. Asian Doll And YNW Melly’s Mom Respond To Lul Tim’s King Von Charges Being Dropped

Earlier today (August 20), it was reported that Lul Tim would no longer face murder charges for the shooting death of King Von in 2020. According to YouTuber Mickey Truth, the charges against Tim have been dropped. The Quando Rondo affiliate had been out on bail since 2021 but was still preparing to face trial over Von’s 2020 death. Reportedly, prosecutors now view Von’s death as being the result of self-defense. This comes as a result of evidence appearing to show Von assaulting Rondo prior to this death.

The charges against Tim have also proven to be socially controversial. There are many who view Tim as a hero for reportedly killing Von. Of course, some have gone as far as to label Von as a “serial killer”, with one notorious YouTube documentary attributing as many as 10 murders to the Chicago rapper. But with Tim’s charges now dropped, it appears to have brought the saga of King Von’s death to an end. However, major figures relating to the case are now starting to speak out about the decision.

Asian Doll and YNW Melly Respond To Lul Tim News

Asian Doll, the partner of King Von, made bombshell allegations about the decision. Doll had been very vocal about the fallout of Von’s death. In a now-deleted tweet, Doll claimed that there was something bigger at play. “Because the police said Tim ain’t kill him, the police did,” Doll wrote. Elsewhere, Doll hit out at people bringing up Von in interviews. “N*ggas doing all these interviews about King Von look goofy asl,” Asian Doll expressed with disdain on the social media platform. “Speaking on open cases & telling stories he never told is top of the line snitch shit. He ain’t condone shit he’ll cut a mf off for. Y’all n*ggas forever bitches to me & never stood on business. I hate n*ggas who don’t stand on business allot lil boy. Shit dead we like grown men that get shit done over here.”

Elsewhere, YNW Melly’s mother compared Lul Tim to her son’s case. “Meanwhile, the state of Florida is trying to give Melly the death penalty without a gun or witness and a Mistrial !! This is wild.” It was announced earlier this week that the judge in Melly’s case had made a ruling stating that a death penalty ruling no longer needed to be unanimous. Instead, Melly could receive the death penalty on an 8-4 jury vote. Boosie Badazz has also spoken out on this development, expressing great displeasure about the decision. The story surrounding Lul Tim is a developing one. We’ll have any updates if and when they emerge.

King Von Murder Saga Ends

The reports that Tim’s charges have been dropped comes amid a wave of headlines relating to Von’s murder. Recently footage emerged of the arrest of BossTop. As the O’Block member is detained, he can be heard asking “Is Von good?” Many fans of Von were insulted by this. The sentiment is best summarized by one commenter who wrote, “N*gga watched Von get dunked on and ran then is gonna ask if he good.”

Meanwhile, Von’s partner Asian Doll has continued to defend the rapper’s name in recent weeks. “N*ggas doing all these interviews about King Von look goofy asl,” Asian Doll expressed with disdain on the social media platform. “Speaking on open cases & telling stories he never told is top of the line snitch shit. Quando Rondo Taunts Lil Durk Over “Nerd” Diss To Lul Tim

The beef between Lil Durk and Quando Rondo is far more serious and damaging than your typical MC feuds. An affiliate of Rondo’s, Lul Tim, shot and killed the Chicago rapper’s friend King Von, an event that would go on to shape Durk’s rivalries. During a conversation with DJ Akademiks on the Off The Record, he spoke on the shooting “that changed everybody’s lives irreparably,” and sent shots at the aforementioned peers. “Yeah, that s**t f***ed everybody up, boy, when a real gangsta get took out by a nerd type,” he said of Tim, adding that Quando is a “little boy.”

However, Quando Rondo caught wind of this, and came through on Twitter with his response to Lil Durk’s most recent shots. “The Nerds Got 7 Of ‘Em Last Year Urkkkk….” the Savannah, Georgia artist posted on the social media platform. Furthermore, discussion around that statement split into people commenting on the feud and lamenting that these battles resulted in lost lives and pained families. Neither side is exempt from those issues, and many believe that airing these things out for social media clout is disrespectful. “This ‘war’ a whole clown show. Ppl died for these goofy tweets and weak bars,” one fan expressed.

Quando Rondo’s Response To Lil Durk

Still, these circumstances take nuanced understanding to examine, as everyone goes through grief, regret, and the thought that things could be different. It’s something that Quando Rondo himself clearly feels, as he recently dropped a tribute track to his fallen friend Lul Pab. Many times, these issues stem from much more systemic hardships in “the game,” and it can be very difficult for its players to escape that lifestyle. With that being said, this probably and unfortunately won’t be the last time we’re reminded of the cyclical nature of these beefs.

Meanwhile, The Voice recently opened up about his grief process, whether for King Von or for others in his life or surroundings. In addition, his beef with Quando associate NBA YoungBoy is unlikely to slow down anytime soon, either. All fans can hope for is that these battles stay more in the musical side of things and not spill over into people’s lives. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Quando Rondo and Lil Durk.
