At the end of last month, Erica Mena got hit with some major backlash after her argument with Spice on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta got out of hand. The two of them got into it at a restaurant, and Spice ended up telling Mena that her son “hates” her. This resulted in Mena flipping a table, before calling Spice a “blue monkey.”
Countless viewers called Mena out for her use of the slur, and ultimately, she was kicked off of the show. Though MTV cut ties with Mena amid the backlash, they continued filming for a short time after the debacle took place. Some footage of Mena discussing the incident with her castmates has been making its rounds online, showing Mena claiming that people just “want to be offended” by her comment.
In the clip, Mena claims that she went off on Spice because she brought up her son. Yandy Smith then explains to her that her attempt to offend Spice managed to offend everybody of African descent. “No, It’s you guys that want to be offended by it. It has nothing to do with you,” Mena responds. “It is 2023. Why as minorities are we comparing ourselves to that?” she asks. Mena then went on to defend her decision to pop off on Spice. She also seemed to defend her use of the term, however, she quickly circled back to clarify her statement.
“The b*tch crossed the line, she violated me by coming for my son, and I would do it all over [again] if she does it again,” Mena says. Smith then asks her what she meant by “do it all over again,” wondering if she meant using the slur. “I didn’t say I would say the same thing,” she clarified. Later in the clip, she says, “I’m Puerto Rican and Dominican. I have Black in my family, I have Black children, I married a Black man.” She continues, “There’s not a racist bone in my f*cking body, I’m just as Black as probably all of you.” What do you think of Mena’s recent comments? The fallout of her viral Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta moment continues to hit Erica Mena. The Allblk network has announced that Mena will no longer appear in their original drama, Hush. “We do not condone Erica Mena’s reprehensible comment. She will be featured in the upcoming season of Hush, set to premiere later this year, as production was completed months ago. But in the event of additional seasons, she will not be part of the cast. Mena had appeared in all eight episodes of Season 1 of the show.
The news comes a little over a week after Mena was dropped from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out over the final three episodes of the season. Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” read a statement from the show’s producers. All this stems from Mena calling fellow L&HH:A cast member Spice a “monkey” during a recent episode of the show.
However, the debate regarding what Mena said is far from over. Jess Hilarious, co-host of The Breakfast Club, gave a passionate defense of Mena in recent days. “That’s what I don’t get. Every time they get into it, Erica Mena, they always bring that shit up. That’s the only thing they can say about her, is something about her son. That’s what’s fucked up. What’s wrong with her son? I don’t think Erica was using it as a racial slur. Maybe Spice [looks] like a monkey to her. Whatever the fuck you look like, you look like. And the fact that they found it back in the dizzle, and it come on now, and then you choose to fire her for the backlash. You not even protecting your cast like you did.”
Meanwhile Spice, the victim of Mena’s verbal faux pas, has started to get some flak herself. In the show’s most recent episode, Spice can be heard calling co-star Bambi Benson a “giraffe”. While “giraffe” doesn’t carry the same racial implications as “monkey”, there are more than a few people that believe Spice should also be removed from the show for that comment. This all remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Erica Mena’s time on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta had come to an end. The news broke following the airing of an episode after Mena referred to fellow cast member Spice as a “monkey”. “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out over the final three episodes of the season. Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” read a statement from the show’s producers.
Fans and the wider community have been mixed about the news. While some see it as justified, others see it as exploitative. “They waited until AFTER they recorded it, edited it, promoted it and aired it. Then fired her months after it happened. They tacky,” one person noted. Someone else who initially defended Mena was her co-star, Lil Scrappy. “I think that’s pretty bozo of them to fire somebody after they set shit up. They set you up and put you…they get you all hyped up.” Scrappy went on to note that he doesn’t even “fuck with Erica” and still thought it was a bad look.
However, Scrappy’s tone quickly changed. In a later video, the rapper walked back previous comments. “I just seen the clip and that shit’s fucked up. You know, I don’t ever want to wish someone be fired or put in jail or dead,” Scrappy began. “I don’t want that shit for Erica. But she was wrong. Erica Mena was wrong. Erica Mena was wrong….Colorism is real. We do know that. Racism is real. Hate is real.” It’s clear that, with context, Scrappy wanted no part in defending Mena’s actions.
While her comments towards Spice are the reason she is being fired, it’s not the only issue that Mena is currently facing. Last weekend, Mena was arrested alongside some of her co-stars following a drunken altercation. Facing battery charges amid a litany of other crimes, Mena is currently awaiting a court date while out on a $20,000 bond. The ongoing saga remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.
The boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti brought about more than one unexpected brawl. First, there was the incident between both boxers’ teams that finished their fight in chaos, but there were other behind-the-scenes incidents that saw similar wildness. Moreover, rappers and reality stars Joseline Hernandez (of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”) and Big Lex (of “Joseline’s Cabaret”) got into a heated altercation backstage that turned into a nasty fight between the two. By the end, a huge crowd tried to split the two up, but to no avail, as Lex ended up on the floor and topless at a certain point. Just a couple hours after video of the incident broke, authorities arrested Hernandez on battery, trespassing, and obstruction with violence charges.
Furthermore, we advise folks to take a look at the video with caution, as there’s some rough kicks and punches in there. Unfortunately, it’s far from the first time that either star saw themselves in the middle of an altercation. After all, those kinds of moments are what bring a lot of conversation and viewership, for better or worse. Considering the pretty immediate consequences in this particular case, it’s decidedly more in the latter camp.
For example, apparently Joseline Hernandez got into it with Amber Rose following a conversation on racial identity. “Joseline, stop identifying me,” Amber told Hernandez in a trailer for College Hill: Celebrity Edition. “I identify myself and let you know who that is. If you gon’ check me, then check me!” When Joseline responded with, “You know what your problem is?! Your problem is that you really wanna be a white girl,” Rose stood up and started heading towards her. Perhaps the earlier point on viewership is starting to change, as BET said that they will not air the fight out of respect.
Meanwhile, hopefully this doesn’t affect the dropped $25 million lawsuit against Hernandez concerning the “Baddies” reunion fight. It seemed like things would be able to clear up after the incident, especially considering that she wants to leave Zeus. Regardless, it was quite the nasty situation that many wish will become less frequent as these incidents get nastier. For more on Joseline Hernandez and Big Lex, check back in with HNHH.
“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Ariane Davis was arrested last night for attempted assault and harassment after allegedly getting into a fight with a woman inside a Manhattan hotel, according to police.
According to the New York Post, Davis, 44, allegedly fought a 33-year-old woman inside the Moxy Times Square at 4:55 a.m. in what her attorney described as a “domestic” dispute.
The woman had scratches on her neck and sustained injuries to her hands but refused medical attention at the scene, according to police and prosecutors.
Davis was taken into custody at the hotel and was arraigned at Manhattan criminal court on one count of attempted assault and one count of harassment.
She appeared in court Monday evening. The prosecutor, Stephan Millan, said that the socialite made a statement to officers who arrived at the scene indicating her own guilt and that the cops “observed scratches on the victim’s neck.”
He added that Davis and the victim have a “relationship together and live together” and requested a temporary order of protection, despite the victim not wanting one.
“I’ve spoken to the victim and she did state that she did not want a full temporary order of protection, that she is not in fear of her safety,” Millan said.
“However, given the relationship with the party, the fact that the defendant already confessed to hitting the complaining victim, that she did hit the complaining victim, the people are requesting a full temporary order of protection,” the prosecutor said.
Both the prosecutor and defense said the two women live together and said it was a “domestic issue.”
Judge Soma Syed issued the temporary order of protection and released Davis. Her next court date is July 26.

The relationship between Stevie J and Faith Evans has been slightly confusing to keep up with over the years. Some might even consider their relationship to be problematic. After all, plenty of their issues have dramatically unfolded in front of the public eye. The true question at hand is… where do Stevie and Faith stand now? The validity of their marriage has been on shaky grounds since late 2021. Here’s an update about where the famed hip hop couple is headed next.
Who Is Stevie J?
Stevie’s career speaks for itself. He started making a name for himself in the entertainment industry in the early ’90s. He’s now widely recognized as a television personality and megaproducer. In fact, his career has been so successful that he even won a Grammy award in 1997. Taking home Grammy awards isn’t something many people can claim for themselves. Still, it’s something Stevie was successfully able to manage.
Stevie served as a lucrative in-house producer of Bad Boy Records, creating influential hits alongside Sean “Puffy” Combs. One of his significant projects was the self-titled debut album of the R&B quartet 112. Their biggest single, “Only You” featuring The Notorious B.I.G., is on the top of Stevie’s list of accomplishments.
Stevie has millions of followers on social media. His credits in major productions include The Way Men Think in 2021 and 2019’s Black Jesus. Stevie’s reality TV drama caused heads to turn in 2012 when he was caught in an explosive love triangle with Mimi Faust and Joseline Hernandez on Love & Hip Hop. Then, he emerged on the series in a new romance with Faith Evans. Their marriage in 2018 caused fans to grow curious about Stevie J’s wife and personal life.
A Surprise Wedding
Faith is noteworthy in her own right, separate from her title as Stevie J’s wife. She’s a singer who launched her career in the music industry in the early ’90s. The pair met during their time with Bad Boy, as Faith was also married to Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. Although their wedded bliss seemed to be over when he passed, she is credited as his widow. After decades of friendship, Faith and Stevie made things official by tying the knot in 2018. It was reported the ceremony was in a Las Vegas hotel room.
Additionally, reality TV lovers can catch glimpses of Stevie and Faith‘s relationship in old Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta episodes. The popular show premiered in 2012, documenting the lives of some of the most successful rap-related residents of the Atlanta area. Faith’s appearance was short-lived, and the real drama in their romance unraveled away from the unscripted show’s cameras.
First Divorce Attempt In 2021
A low point in Faith and Stevie’s marriage was when she was arrested in May 2020 for felony domestic assault charges. Cops reportedly responded to a 911 call and escorted her into custody. Within the same day she was placed behind bars, she posted bail and returned home. After everything was said and done, the charges were officially dropped.
It was then that Stevie and Faith started uploading suspicious lovey-dovey content on social media. After her arrest, they tried to show the world they would make it work. It seemed the couple was moving in the right direction and staying on track… until cheating allegations and rumors surfaced. In a video posted on social media, Faith describes her hatred towards Stevie, who then responds to her with a very explicit remark. He reportedly said, “I hate you, too. You f—ked this [n-word] in my own house. B—h, f–k you.” He went on to say, “All I did was love you. How could you do that to me?”
Stevie Went After Faith For Spousal Support
Amid their 2021 attempted divorce debacle, Stevie reportedly asked the court to grant him spousal support from Faith. In that same request, he stated that he didn’t want Faith to have access to any of his own assets. Faith responded by asking the judge to terminate the notion of any spousal support being directed in Stevie’s way. The conversation about spousal support came to an end when they decided to see things through without continuing with their divorce plans. Now, fast-forwarding to the present day in 2023, it looks like their divorce is back in motion.
Stevie J Is Ready To Divorce Faith Evans Again In 2023
The drama between Stevie and Faith subsided for a short while after they dropped their 2021 divorce plans. Now, he’s ready to pursue the divorce on a far more severe level. In fact, Stevie hired a powerhouse lawyer from a firm called Harris Ginsberg to handle the incredibly messy case. However, the divorce might be at somewhat of a standstill for now. With Stevie’s new hard-hitting lawyers working on his behalf, the dissolution of his marriage could be right around the corner. As of now, Faith hasn’t responded.
The latest drama surrounding the ex-couple is that Stevie took Faith’s $164K Mercedes without her permission. He drove it to Coachella in what’s been labeled a “joy ride.” Faith expeditiously reported the car stolen, and the court ordered Stevie to return the vehicle immediately. Faith took it one step further by bringing up his suspended license.
Her latest posts on social media depict a woman who is unbothered, booked, and busy. She recently shared a couple of clips of her night out at a ritzy bar. Before that, she posted a close-up image of a stunning photoshoot. She also uploaded a group shot from her time in New Jersey. Based on her social media presence, she remains tightlipped about the current divorce proceedings.
