Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Finds Him Dealing ‘With Some Controversial Things’ According To Lil Yachty

Drake‘s new album For All the Dogs is highly anticipated after false release dates and controversial rumors. It’s finally coming out on September 22, and Lil Yachty discussed it on his A Safe Place podcast with MitchGoneMad.

“It sounds current, you know? It sounds very current,” he said. “It’s interesting, it’s coming together a lot better than I thought when I — I just had a talk with him a couple days ago in Vancouver and I was like, ‘Man…’ I was a little worried, ’cause I have a lot of the songs, I don’t have all of ’em, I have a lot of ’em though. And I was just like, ‘Man, I just don’t know if it’s — how are you gon’ put this together? Because it’s a lot of great songs but they don’t really — in my brain, I was like, they didn’t really sound together. And then we had a talk about it and he explained to me his thought process about it. And we drove somewhere, we drove to that video shoot which was like an hour away, and we listened to it, and it makes sense now.”

He continued, “It has the most, I would say like the most ‘performance’ album he’ll have, as far as like energy. … I think some of the best Drake verses that I ever heard are on this album.”

“Some of the verses I’m just like, ‘Bruh, what’s wrong with you?’ You know what I’m saying?” he said. “People gonna have a lot to say about some of his topics on this album. And I don’t think he does it on purpose, I think it’s just him — he just has a real… I will say he deals with some controversial things.”

JID And Lil Yachty Artistically Match Each Other’s Energy On Their New Single, ‘Van Gogh’

Two of the hottest in the game right now have linked up for a double dose of magic. Tonight (September 1), rappers JID and Lil Yachty dropped a two-track EP, titled BlakkBoyz present Half Doin Dope/Van Gogh. On the new project is a track called “Van Gogh,” where the two heavy hitters go back and forth, rapping with the ease of a paintbrush on a canvas.

“The hardest thing for me is stayin’ composed / ‘Cause killin’ sh*t is really all that I know / Funeral goes, casket closed / The choir sings, the pastor goes,” raps JID on the song’s opening verse.

The song gently flows into Yachty’s verse, on which, he brags about an exciting year he’s had, while reminding everyone of the quick-witted bars that made him such a promising act.

“Couldn’t dent the Ferrari, sh*t feel like a coffin / I use the codeine without coughin’, I sleep without tossin’ / She call me daddy ’cause I’m bossin’ / I had a show in two cities, call me Dallas Austin / When I talk, I’m flossin’,” raps Yachty.

The song boasts four verses, and the two artists showcase their undeniable musical chemistry with each other over the course of the song.

JID Announces Multiple New Projects And Singles

JID has been busy. While the rapper was touring earlier this year he clearly also spent some time in the studio and he has the tracks to prove it. In a recent series of announcements, he confirmed a number of big things coming soon. The first new material fans can expect will drop later this week. He’s teaming up with Lil Yachty to release a pair of new tracks under their Blakkboyz collaboration. One of which is “Van Gogh” a song that has been floating around online for a while. The official release of the project to streaming in addition to the release of another new song has fans hyped.

But what has fans even more excited is the confirmation that JID has a new album on the way. The singer confirmed that an album called Forever & A Day will be arriving later this year. The project is reportedly around 10-12 tracks in length though very little else about it is currently known. And that isn’t even the only new album he has on the way. He confirmed that a previously announced and currently unnamed collaborative outing with Metro Boomin is still on the way. That collaborative project is expected to be released after Forever & A Day.

Lil Yachty & The City Girls Are Among Those Bringing The Heat To This Week’s “Fire Emoji” Update

There are 52 New Music Fridays every year, and even for those well-ingrained in the industry, it can be hard to keep up with the countless singles, EPs, and albums that arrive on DSPs. Thankfully, our Fire Emoji playlist is updated almost every weekend with the latest and greatest from the world of hip-hop. Today (August 26) is no exception, kicking off with Gucci Mane’s latest, “There I Go” featuring guest bars from J. Cole and production by Mike WiLL Made-It. Following that comes another noteworthy collaboration, “Rollin’ In” from Sauce Walka and Sauce Gohan.

The first solo effort on this installment of Fire Emoji is Lil Yachty’s “TESLA.” After that we hear from Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE over The Alchemist’s production on “Sentry.” As for albums that dropped yesterday, Drake obviously failed to deliver For All The Dogs, but Burna Boy still came through to save the summer with his I Told Them LP. From that, we’ve picked “Thanks,” which includes another feature from the Dreamville head. For those who are hoping to close out August with a lit celebration, Tyga and YG’s work on “PARTy T1M3” is just what you need.

The City Girls still haven’t given us their next album, but they did go hard on their “Face Down” single earlier this week. From 03 Greedo we have his “Rich On Grape Street” track, which is the last solo song on today’s update. Dave and Tiakola’s “Meridian” follows, before Peezy and Key Glock take the penultimate spot with “No Amiris.” Finally, closing things out we have “Latex Gloves” from a seriously impressive trio – 38 Spesh, Conway the Machine, and Lloyd Banks.

You can listen to this weekend’s full Fire Emoji round-up exclusively on Spotify. Are there any new arrivals that you think we missed? Let us know in the comments, and tap into Burna Boy’s I Told Them LP, featuring Summer Walker, RZA, J. Cole, and more at the link below.

Lil Yachty’s ‘Tesla’ Song Wasn’t Sanctioned By Elon Musk, But It Is Just As Erratic As The Businessman

Lil Yachty’s Field Trip Global Tour will kick off on September 21. But before hitting the road, the eccentric rapper has decided to treat fans to a flurry of singles including “Solo Steppin’ Crete Boy,” “Slide,” and appearing on Miguel’s “Number 9.” He’s not done there. As he teams up with producers MitchGoneMad & WessGoneMad, the musician dropped the new track “Tesla.”

The song isn’t at all sanctioned by the company’s head honcho, Elon Musk, but it is just as erratic as the businessman. Yachty isn’t letting fame stop him from letting the public know that he’s not above getting his hands dirty, rapping, “He get tough, on four pills, he get killed / Send that b*tch home, actin’ goofy, my cup spilled / B*tch, you for real? ‘Kay, damn / B*tch, we the new Beatles, shoot a film, Regal / In the air, eagle, I don’t want it if it’s legal / Throwback this Tesla, throw back that mmm.”

Of course, Lil Yachty isn’t going to let the song go without an official visual. Yachty will reconnect with Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett for the supporting video to bring the off-kilter track to life with vibrant coloring, dramatic editing, and more. Yachty’s longtime friend Drake’s new music may not have dropped, but that isn’t holding him back from doing his own thing.

Lil Yachty Thinks ‘Y’all Stupid’ For Believing Drake’s Album Was Coming Out Today, But He Found A Silver Lining

Drake hasn’t revealed the release date for his new album, For All The Dogs, but it looked like Amazon Music did last week, when a tweet from the streaming platform indicated it was coming on August 25. That is of course today, and when midnight rolled around, the album was nowhere to be found. Lil Yachty has some thoughts on that.

Shortly after midnight this morning, he reminded people that no official source actually said the album was scheduled to drop that night, tweeting, “y’all stupid, no body even said for all the dogs was comin out tonight.”

He had pretty much the same message in a TikTok video he posted around the same time, saying, “By the way, I know y’all thought For All The Dogs was coming out tonight: Joke’s on y’all because nobody ever said that it was. Gotta stop believing sh*t you see on the internet.”

Yachty then saw an opportunity for a plug and took it, continuing, “Second of all: I dropped tonight, you know what I’m saying? Check out that new ‘Tesla.’ Wow, that’s oh so shameless, mentioning Drake’s name to plug myself, but whatever. I just dropped. No brakes, still going, I’m going to drop a song every week for the rest of the year. Ah!”

shameless plug, tesla out now

So, no Drake today, but a bunch of Yachty for the next few months.

Drake Wishes Lil Yachty Happy Birthday In Heartfelt New Video

Drake and Lil Yachty’s long-running friendship is no secret. The former often finds himself getting trolled on social media by the latter for anything he posts. That comes up early in a new birthday message Drizzy recorded for Lil Boat. “He’s gonna f*cking flame whatever pic I choose,” the “Search & Rescue” rapper says early in his message. But from there the tone gets more genuine and serious as he wishes Yachty a happy birthday. He goes on to express regret that he can’t be with him today, but promises that the pair will be together turning up very soon. It’s another charming chapter in one of the most hilarious hip-hop friendships around right now.

This isn’t the only birthday message Drake has made recently. Just last night he paused his show at LA’s Crypto.com Arena to pay tribute to someone the crowd was no doubt familiar with.  “I’mma hold this up ’cause we got to show love to Kobe one time. Y’all make some noise for Kobe at this time,” he said during a break in the show. The late Kobe Bryant would have been 45 years old today. It’s been three years since Kobe and his daughter Gianna tragically died in a helicopter accident.

Drake Shouts Out Lil Yachty On His Birthday

The release of Drake’s new album For All The Dogs is right around the corner. After teasing the project during concerts all summer, it is finally expected to arrive later this week. After Zane Lowe shared some information on one particular feature from the album, many fans online jumped to the conclusion that he was talking about Frank Ocean. But Lowe himself made sure to shut that rumor down as quickly as it emerged.

Drake also shared the adorable artwork for the project. The album cover is a picture drawn by the rapper’s 5-year-old son Adonis Graham. What do you think of Drake’s happy birthday message for Lil Yachty? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Yachty Under Fire For Dismissing Sexxy Redd’s Rape Claims

Sexxy Red Yachty

Lil Yachty is facing backlash after he and his podcast co-host, Mitch, dismissed Sexxy Redd’s rape claims during a recent episode of their Safe Place Podcast. The “Poundtown” rapper bravely opened up about being raped, but the two podcast hosts seemingly dismissed her statement instead of offering support or empathy. A “Safe Place”? During the […]
