Lil Tjay Arrested Again, Attorney Calls It “So Unfortunate”

When it rains, it pours, and new reports state Lil Tjay has been arrested for the second time this month. The New York City rapper was previously detained while on his way to film a music video with Ice Spice. According to reports, Tjay was inside a vehicle with several other people when officers approached. They were said to have been in a no-idling zone, and soon, police searched the vehicle.

It was then that they allegedly located a firearm, and while the rapper wasn’t the driver, he was arrested. It was more recently shared that the rapper was taken into custody once again.

Dawn Florio, Tjay’s attorney, also detailed this most recent arrest in a statement to XXL.

“Lil Tjay was not rearrested for another gun charge,” she said. “He was excused from appearing in court last Friday by the arraignment Judge. Another Judge revoked his bond and put him back in jail for missing court on Friday even though he was told by the first Judge that he did not have appear.”

“Lil Tjay’s family posted the bail yesterday and he is free. It is so unfortunate that he had to be jailed for something that was not his fault.”

Lil Tjay Got Some Advice About Getting Shot From 50 Cent, Who Was Also Shot Early In His Career

Lil Tjay is on the comeback trail after being shot seven times during a botched robbery attempt last June. The 20-year-old Bronx rapper has released new songs like “Beat The Odds” and “Give You What You Want” and collaborated with hot girl du jour Ice Spice on “Gangsta Boo” this past weekend.

Now, it seems he’s in full rollout mode for what will surely be his most-anticipated album yet, his third overall. A new profile in Rolling Stone finds him in good spirits, rolling with the punches as he recounts his shooting and the initial aftermath, in which he received messages of support from rap luminaries like Diddy and 50 Cent.

Tjay recalls 50, who was shot nine times early in his own career, saying, “Every artist needs pain or something to feed off of. This right here, you shake this shit off. You got the length for greatness. You going to be bigger than ever.” For what it’s worth, it certainly didn’t stop 50, who was dropped by his original label in the immediate aftermath, but later incorporated the story into his larger-than-life gangster image.

Although Tjay doesn’t give any details on his upcoming third album other than to say it’s coming “soon,” he does say he has retitled it to reflect his own resilience and optimistic outlook. Be on the lookout.

Lil Tjay Reveals 50 Cent’s Advice To Him After Getting Shot

Following a near-fatal shooting, Lil Tjay has slowly returned back to the fold. He hit the stage, once again, by the time 2022 ended and dished out a handful of singles. Fans have embraced his return with open arms, which reinforced 50 Cent’s prediction of Tjay’s career.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lil Tjay recalled the advice 50 Cent had for him after getting shot seven times. Fif, who survived a similar situation in 2000, told Tjay that he needed to use the recent situation to inspire new music.

“Every artist needs pain or something to feed off of. This right here, you shake this shit off,” Tjay recounted of 50 Cent’s advice. “You got the length for greatness. You going to be bigger than ever.”

The shooter struck Lil Tjay with seven bullets in June 2022. The attack occurred outside of a Chipotle, leaving Tjay in a coma for five days. During his recovery in the hospital, he still managed to put in work. He recorded “Beat The Odds” from his hospital bed. After his release, he dropped off “FACESHOT,” which samples 50 Cent’s “Many Men” and carries the same resilient spirit.

Tjay also explained in the interview that the shooting provided him with a new outlook on life through numerology. “I got airlifted into the sky at 2:22, and it was June 22, 2022,” he said. “When I searched those numbers, it was like ‘God’s giving you the opportunity to change.’ I questioned God before that, I don’t anymore. I know God’s real, a billion percent.”

Ultimately, he described himself as a “miracle kid” because of what he managed to overcome. At the same time, this gave him a new outlook on life and his career.

“I’m not on no tough-guy shit, or on some angel shit. I feel like a miracle kid. I feel like my purpose is bigger than I know. I’m just trying to figure out what life got in store for me. I know that I’m destined to win.”

Ice Spice & Lil Tjay Team Up On “Gangsta Boo” Single

Since she exploded onto the scene last summer, Ice Spice has delivered plenty of hit singles. “Munch (Feelin’ U)” initially got her on the world’s radar. That song was quickly followed by tracks like “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood.”

Now that the 23-year-old is well-established within the rap game, it was about time for her debut EP to arrive. On Friday (January 20), the New Yorker shared her Like..? project, complete with three previously released titles as well as three brand new ones.

The sole feature on the short but sweet effort comes from Lil Tjay on “Gangsta Boo,” which surfaced online earlier this month. Initially, Spice and her collaborator were due to film their accompanying music video ahead of the song’s arrival.

However, the “Calling My Phone” hitmaker ran into police at a traffic stop before making it to set. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found several firearms inside, leading the young lyricist to be taken into custody.

Rather than waste the day, Spice turned the shooting day into one for her “In Ha Mood” single. Video footage captured a few days ago shows that the redhead’s hometown was going hard for her in front of the cameras as she rapped along.

It remains unclear when we’ll receive the official music video for “Gangsta Boo,” but Ice spoke with Ebro Darden to explain her link-up with Lil Tjay.

“I made the song, and then I was just thinking who I would hear on it really. But I wanted it to be a real genuine collab,” she recalled. “We’ve been friends since last year, so I was just like, ‘Yeah, who better than him?’”

So what’s your sign ’cause I like you?
Got a place we can stay for the night
But I’m too shy to invite you

Ice Spice Releases “Like…?” EP

No matter your opinion of her, Ice Spice’s only getting started. Following an incredible breakout year, the Bronx rapper emerged this week with the release of her debut EP, Like…?. The six-song effort includes previously released singles such as “Bikini Bottom,” “In Ha Mood,” and her 2022 breakout hit, “Munch (Feelin U).”

Released through 10K Projects/Capitol Records, Spice capitalizes on her ability to craft infectious hits and quotable bars. Being that she is the Bronx Baddie, she emphasizes her homegrown vernacular in songs like “Actin A Smoochie,” just like she did “Munch.”

However, it also showcases her versatility, as well. During a recent interview with New York Times, the Bronx rapper explained how she aspired to reach beyond Internet fandom and memes.

“For me personally, I think I have passed that,” she said. “I do want to be a mainstream artist. I want diamond records and plaques and Grammys. So I think in order to get that, you do have to surpass just one subgenre.”

With RIOTUSA handling the production, Ice Spice drops three unreleased records on the project, such as the highly-anticipated collab with Lil Tjay, “Gangsta Boo.” Unlike her other hits, the collaboration with Lil Tjay locks into the sample-drill sound with an interpolation of Diddy’s “I Need A Girl Part 2.” The two intended to shoot a video for the single this week but Tjay ended up arrested and Spice filmed a visual for “In Ha Mood” instead.

Above all, Ice Spice combats the criticism and continues to feed her hungry fanbase with even more hit records. Check out Ice Spice’s new project, Like..? below and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Ice Spice Is Searching For A ‘Gangsta Boo’ With Her New Lil Tjay Collaboration

Ice Spice has released her much-anticipated debut EP, Like…?. Though the EP came only after a few hours’ notice, Spice already has the internet going crazy. On the EP is her Lil Tjay collaboration, “Gangsta Boo,” the video for which was reportedly scheduled for earlier this week, however, was put on hold due to Tjay’s arrest.

On the song, “Gangsta Boo,” Spice is searching for a special kind of love. Over a drilled-up sample of Diddy’s 2002 hit single, “I Need A Girl, Part 2,” Spice says that she’s looking for a “gangsta boo,” rapping, “I’m tryna see how a gangsta move / He never worried bout no exes / All on my body, I’m the bestest / Diamonds keep dancing on my necklace.”

Tjay hops in with a verse, letting Spice know that he fits her criteria.

“I’m a gangsta, I keep it legit / I could hold you, I told her some secrets / So she know I be on that sh*t / Told her ‘not so much know what you know,’ he raps.

Adding a modern touch to an early aughts classic, the two New York rappers play well off of their chemistry with each other.
