Lil Nas X Will Appear As A Country Singer Named June Bug On ‘The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder’

Lil Nas X is set to make his voice-acting debut on an upcoming episode of The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder. The episode, appropriately titled “Old Towne Road,” begins streaming tomorrow on Disney+, and viewers will see Lil Nas X as a country singer named June Bug.

In the episode, Trudy (Paula Jai Parker) tracks her mother-in-law, Suga Mama’s (Jo Marie Payton) family history, leading the Prouds on a trip to Oklahoma. During their trip, Bobby Proud (Cedric The Entertainer) joins June Bug’s country band.

When Bobby asks June Bug where he can plug in his keytar, June Bug replies, “Nah cuh, I’m the only one who plays guitar around here,” then proceeds to hand him a washboard. “Give this a try, cuh, I love that for you.”

The band proceeds to play the hit that started it all for Lil Nas X, “Old Town Road.”

Lil Nas X is one of several musicians who were announced last year as guest stars for The Proud Family revival. Normani, Jaden, Chance The Rapper and Lizzo are also set to guest star this season.

Safaree Samuels and Fans Speak Out Following Spice Being Snubbed at the Grammys

While this past Grammy Award show wasn’t half as shocking as the most recent Oscars award show, some were still left with their mouths open following the reveal of award winners on the special night.

Lil Nas X was amongst the list of celebrities who didn’t win a Grammy award; however, he kept a positive attitude in hopes of winning at the next award show. The 22-year-old artist was nominated for 5 Grammy awards before uploading a video on Instagram, sharing that he didn’t take home a trophy.

“I ain’t win no Grammys, that sh*t hurt my feelings, that sh*t finna make me cry,” he sang on social media. “Zero out of five, that’s how many Grammys I won. That sh*t made me cry, that sh*t made me cry.”

The following day the “Industry Baby” singer posted a more uplifting tweet on Twitter. “Last night was my favorite performance yet,” he wrote. “A fun night in general. We lost all our grammies but that just mean it’s time to go even harder! Love y’all.”

Like Lil Nas X, reggae artist Spice also hopes to win a Grammy award next year. Many fans were upset that the well-known reggae artist lost the award to a white reggae group called SOJA. In support of Spice, Safaree Samuels, who is well known for paying homage to his roots, expressed his disappointment in the decision on social media.

“A white reggae group I never heard of beat spice in best reggae album?” he penned. “The Grammys never cease to amaze me. I wish artists would just really not go to that bullsh*t! They never know what they’re doing when it comes to giving out their trophies! Grammys GO SUCKKKK YUHHH MUMMAAA!!”

While many Spice fans were pretty upset on social media, Spice penned an encouraging message on her Instagram, sharing that she is still grateful to have come this far. “Besties don’t cry we’ve come along way,” she began.

“Remember I came from Homeless to this day so I’m really still very humbled and grateful, I see all your support and disappointments but you know we never give up, we back at it again tomorrow!! I love you all so much, watch little Gracie pan Grammy red Carpet.”

While Spice and Lil Nas X are remaining wishful for the next year, fans of the artist can’t help but express their opinion, believing that the decision is unfair. Check out the discussion below.

Lil Nas X Pens A Sad, Cute, Emo Song About Being Shut Out At The Grammys

Last night’s Grammy Awards were supposed to be big for Lil Nas X. He was nominated for five awards including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Music Video, and Best Melodic Rap Performance (the latter with Jack Harlow for “Industry Baby,” which they performed together at the awards show). But sweet Montero was shut out. A zero-for-five night for Lil Nas X seemed a bit of a travesty, considering what a massive year it was for the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” singer. You’d think he could’ve at least claimed the Best Melodic Rap Performance award over Kanye West’s “Hurricane?” But I digress. Because it’s not about losing, it’s about how you lose.

The always unpredictable Lil Nas X took to his Instagram Story to sing a song he had written especially for this losing moment. Shirtless, he recorded himself singing into the mirror: “I ain’t win no Grammys, that sh*t hurt my feelings, that sh*t finna make me cryyyy,” the ditty begins. “I’m fittna cry. I didn’t win no Grammys. Zero-for-five Grammys. Zero out of five, that’s how many Grammys I won. I didn’t win no Grammys. That sh*t made me cry, that sh*t me cry. Ahhhhhh.”

A fan grabbed the video from Instagram, tweeted it, and Lil Nas X obliged with the retweet. Once you listen to the short impromptu number enough times in a row, it becomes rather hypnotic. Almost like it’s a mantra he might very well be singing to himself the next time he’s up for more Grammys. Because let’s face it, he’ll definitely be back. And even though he didn’t win last night, Lil Nas X was still all smiles.

Jack Harlow’s Grammy Performance Made Up For Him Not Dancing In Lil Nas X’s ‘Industry Baby’ Video

Aside from the chaos that the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video caused, another big moment for Lil Nas X as he prepared for his Montero debut album came with the release of “Industry Baby.” He released the song with Jack Harlow and the song became his third chart-topping song after “Old Town Road” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” Lil Nas’ collaboration with Harlow also came with a great music video that showed off some of Lil Nas’ dance moves during multiple scenes at the fictional Montero County Jail.

However, some people hoped to see Harlow show off some of his own moves in that video. After hearing from a good amount of disappointed fans, Harlow took to Twitter to clear the air. “Nas wrote the whole treatment for this video and I followed his lead every step of the way,” he wrote. ” If he had asked me to be in that shower scene I woulda been in that shower scene. I just let the mastermind cook. Honored to be apart of it.” Lil Nas himself jokingly chimed in and tweeted, “To the lgbtq+ community i sincerely apologize. i have failed you. i am embarrassed. i am ashamed. and i will learn from my mistakes.”

Well, it seems like Lil Nas did learn from his “mistakes” as he made sure to include Harlow in some portions of his dance routine during their 2022 Grammy performance of “Industry Baby.” Harlow leaned and swayed with Lil Nas and his backup dancers as he started performing his guest verse, and by the time he was done, Harlow got into the full swing of the routine before walking off the stage.

Lil Nas X Taunts His Critics Performing ‘Montero’ And ‘Industry Baby’ With Jack Harlow At The 2022 Grammys

Lil Nas X’s hit song “Industry Baby” has clearly become an industry favorite; he and guest rapper Jack Harlow graced the stage at the Grammys to once again perform their No. 1 hit as part of a stirring medley of tracks including “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Dead Right Now.” They previously shook up the world with their colorful rendition of “Industry Baby” at the 2021 VMAs. Nas changed costumes numerous times as news clips of pearl-clutching newscasters played behind him.

Nas and Jack’s juggernaut collaboration is nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, while Nas himself has also accumulated an impressive collection of nominations for his debut album Montero. Not only is Montero nominated for Album Of The Year, but the project’s lead single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” is also nominated for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Music Video.

That last nomination must certainly rankle Nas’ detractors, who immediately decried the video for its controversial concept. In the video, Nas descends to a plane resembling classic depictions of hell and gives a demonic ruler a lap dance before committing regicide and ascending the throne himself. However, those criticisms couldn’t stop “Call Me By Your Name” from becoming Nas’ second No. 1 record, receiving a Platinum RIAA certification just one month after its release, or receiving three Grammy nominations. Meanwhile, its follow-up, “Industry Baby,” achieved similar success, reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 two months after its release and receiving the Best Melodic Rap Performance nomination.

Lil Nas X Announces A Rihanna-Featuring ‘Montero Deluxe’ Album That’s Probably Just An April Fools’ Joke

In case you haven’t already fallen victim to some sort of hoax today, here’s a helpful reminder: Today is April 1, aka April Fools’ Day, which means you ought to be especially skeptical when it comes to anything you read online, particularly things that seem too good (or bad) to be true. With that in mind, Lil Nas X made a (probably fake) reveal this afternoon.

Lil Nas X tweeted today, “I am so excited to announce that MONTERO DELUXE (featuring Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator, NBA Youngboy, Saucy Santana, and more!) WILL BE YOURS TONIGHT at 7P EST! [wilted flower emoji].” The tweet also includes new cover art, which features multiple versions of Lil Nas X striking various poses and sporting various looks.

While Doja already features on the original version of Montero (on “Scoop”), some of the other added artists seem like unlikely gets here, especially Rihanna, whose last featured appearance was on Kendrick Lamar’s 2017 single “Loyalty.” So, that in combination with the fact that Lil Nas X has one of music’s best senses of humor seems to suggest this deluxe version of Montero probably isn’t a real album you’ll be able to listen to later tonight.

That said, there’s still a chance this is actually happening, so it wouldn’t hurt to at least check in on Lil Nas X’s Twitter later today and see if there’s an update, whether it be the album itself or Lil Nas X revealing it was all a big joke.
