Lil Wayne Will Be Honored With The Key To The City Of New Orleans

Lil Wayne may have not gotten the hometown Super Bowl halftime show he wanted next year, but New Orleans will never stop reciprocating that love and passion. Moreover, according to NBC WDSU 6, he will receive the key to the city during his Lil Weezyana Fest at the Smoothie King Center today (Saturday, November 2), a festival that promotes local talent and uplifts his community. NOLA’s mayor, LaToya Cantrell will present Tunechi with the honor, whereas Master P will honor him with a career achievement award. Wayne’s never been one to miss out on his flowers ever since he came up, but that doesn’t make their presence any less meaningful.

Furthermore, this comes as fans are demanding for Lil Wayne’s flowers over this whole Super Bowl halftime show debacle concerning Kendrick Lamar, who got the spot. However, some folks out there believe that K.Dot will actually reach out to him to perform alongside him, an offer that fellow Cash Money alums Juvenile and Mannie Fresh recently said they would accept if they got the call.

Lil Wayne Set To Receive The Key To New Orleans

“Oh, we are there,” Juvenile expressed on Power 106‘s “Brown Bag Mornings.” “Kendrick is one of the best performers we’ve ever seen. […] In the hip-hop world, he raises the bar. So it’s something that everybody wants to see. And if he calls, I’m there.” “The thing is, the Internet makes something that it’s not,” Mannie Fresh added. “[They] feel like we took a side because we said, ‘It would be cool if [Lil Wayne] was in it.’ Of course we do, that’s our team. But, respectfully, Kendrick is, you know, he’s that dude.” They concluded by eliminating any rumors of shade towards Kendrick Lamar, but also by positing that Weezy’s campaign for the Super Bowl slot should at least warrant an olive branch.

Why an olive branch? Well, if you’re reading this from under a rock, Lil Wayne has a strong Young Money bond with Drake, who has a… not so friendly relationship with Kendrick Lamar these days. All that conversation aside, New Orleans will proudly rep Wayne as one of the greatest rappers not just from their city, but of all time.

Diddy’s Key To Miami Beach Officially Revoked By The City

The wide breadth of the Diddy scandal impacts a lot of environments in society beyond the music and legal realm, whether that’s 50 Cent’s old Starz deals of full-on city endorsements. For example, Miami Beach previously gave the Bad Boy mogul the key to the city back in 2015 for his entertainment industry impact and holding the REVOLT Music Conference in the city. Now, according to TMZ, Miami officially rescinded this honor this week amid his criminal case on sex trafficking and racketeering allegations, plus his mountain of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and other alleged crimes.

For those unaware, Diddy also lost the key to the city of New York earlier this year following a letter from Mayor Eric Adams. As for this Miami Beach situation, TMZ reports that Mayor Steven Meiner participated in a unanimous vote along with the rest of the city commission to revoke this key during an in-person hearing on the matter on Wednesday (October 30). However, alleged sources reportedly relayed to the outlet that the mayor still has to officially sign this imminent decision into effect, which will surely come in the near future.

Other sponsors of the resolution include David Suarez, Joe Magazine, Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, and Alex Fernandez. In addition to this, the city of Miami Beach also pulled back on their “Sean Diddy Combs Day” on October 13 back in June after video footage of a harrowing assault on Cassie released to the public via CNN. In fact, this footage is at the center of a legal dispute between prosecutors and the defense in the federal criminal trial, as the latter alleges that the former leaked it to the press. The last updates we got on that were some scathing responses from the State to Sean Combs’ legal team’s accusations, denying anything of the sort.

Meanwhile, this news comes as other allegations about the Combs’ personal lives emerge that don’t have anything to do with the Diddy case. Diddy’s Key To Miami Beach Expected To Be Rescinded After Arrest For Alleged Sex Trafficking

Miami Beach city officials are reportedly planning to strip Diddy of his key to the city after authorities in New York City arrested him on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, last month. According to TMZ, sources with direct knowledge of the situation say the move is in the final stage of negotiations. The day that it will occur, however, is unclear. Hurricane Milton is approaching Florida and could likely cause a delay in the move.

Former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine presented Diddy with the honor back in 2015 during the Revolt Music Conference at the Fontainebleau. He’s one of several celebrities who have accepted the honorary key, including Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, and more.

It won’t be the first time that a city has rescinded an honorary key from Diddy. After CNN published footage of the Bad Boy mogul hitting Cassie at a hotel in 2016, earlier this year, New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned him. “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence,” Adams wrote in a statement at the time. “Our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.” Adams had personally presented Diddy with the key back in 2023.

As for his current arrest, Diddy has already pleaded not guilty to the alleged crimes. He remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting trial. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, recently confirmed to TMZ that his client won’t be taking a plea deal and intends to argue his case in court. Cam’ron Claims He Rejected Key To NYC After Diddy Returned It Amid Scandal

On his It Is What It Is sports talk show with Mase, Cam’ron recently claimed that he turned down an offer from New York City Mayor Eric Adams to receive the key to the city. This was apparently before Adams received a federal indictment over corruption-related charges, for which he pleaded not guilty. However, it was also after the mayor gave the key to Diddy in September 2023. You probably recall that the Bad Boy mogul returned the key in May of this year after his various sexual assault allegations poured in (plus the Cassie assault video), leading up to his current federal indictment.

As for how Cam’ron revealed this, he remarked on the matter after Mase threw some shots at his ex higher-up Diddy, which led Cam to bring up Eric Adams’ situation. “You know what’s crazy?” he asked. “This is word to everything I love. Last month, they called me to see if I wanted the key to the city. I said, ‘I don’t want to be involved with nothing.’ I said, ‘That ain’t really up my alley right now, I’m cool with the key to New York City, man.’”

Then, Cam’ron claimed that Eric Adams’ office were the ones to call him. “I don’t want nothing that has to do with the keys to the city, the n***as giving them out, or the n***as that previously had them,” he shared. “I don’t got nothing to do with the key to the city, I don’t got nothing to do with that.” Elsewhere, Killa Cam is actually gearing up for a new show Talk With Flee. In a trailer for it, he spoke on his relationship with Jay-Z, the Dipset versus The LOX Verzuz, and a whole lot more.

Meanwhile, we all know that It Is What It Is can turn into a roast fest more than a reflection on current events. For example, Cam’ron recently called Shannon Sharpe out for seemingly prioritizing advice from white men concerning his recent IG Live sex scandal. Cam and Mase felt like he insinuated that other Black commentators who criticized Sharpe are beneath him, so we can expect their animosity to develop further.

The lifetime award was not only given to Crack for his skills on the mic, but also his commitment to philanthropy and giving back to his community.

Joe’s advocacy is well known for promoting healthcare, Joe has shown his concern for average Americans being taken advantage of by large medical companies. Joe even attended a rally in the Nation’s capitol to push the bill that will eliminate hidden fees in healthcare and ha seven met with President Biden a few times to discuss the issue.

Back in May, Joe received an honorary doctorate degree from Lehman College in the Bronx, where he credited his Bronx upbringing for making him the man he is today.

Mayor Adams recently rescinded the same honor to Diddy, who was requested to return the Key to the City following the Cassie assault video.

Joe was performing at the Up NYC concert at Orchard Beach in the Bronx when Adams surprised him on stage. “Fat Joe who’s getting the Key to the City of New York. All his legendary — his music, a real brother, authentic — we want to give you this key,” he said.

Joe used the opportunity to thank the hip-hop icons who came before him. “Shout-out my wife, my daughter, shout-out my favorite aunt in the world. I gotta thank the pioneers. From Melle Mel, Mr. Ness to KRS-One — my whole life I been trying to be KRS-One — LL Cool J, Heavy D and the list goes on,” he said. “I want to shout out everybody here because we in the Bronx and I know I know all of you. Fat Joe Talks Controversy Surrounding Him Getting The Key To New York City

On August 20, Mayor Eric Adams will present Fat Joe with the key to New York City. According to him, not everybody is happy about the decision. The Bronx legend posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday announcing that he will receive the honor on August 20 in Orchard Beach, just a few minutes from where he grew up. Joe is also scheduled to perform a free concert at the celebratory event. In a video posted after the announcement, Joe explained that people have already criticized his ceremonial key, despite his legendary status in the New York rap scene.

“I get the key to the city the 20th and, boy, was that a hard one. Hip-hop got a black eye,” he said in his video. “The mayor and his crew, his right-hand girl, got me the key to the city. Everybody was a little upset,” Joe said. “But I don’t know another guy who keeps it realer with the streets of New York than Fat Joe, who feeds more people, opens more businesses. Of course, Fat Joe isn’t the first rapper to receive the key to the city. Mayor Eric Adams faced widespread calls earlier this year to revoke Diddy’s key to the city. The calls came after a video of him brutally assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016 leaked. The disgraced mogul received the award in 2023. After condeming the attack and discussing the matter with his team, Adams rescinded the honor in June, making Diddy the first person to lose the key to NYC.

“The Key to the City of New York is presented to individuals whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement, and who act as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers,” Adams said in a letter addressed to Diddy. Fat Joe regularly returns to his hometown to give back. In the past, he fundraised for kids in the community to ensure they have new clothes for school. In 2022, he helped the residents of a Bronx apartment building get back on their feet after a fire. Joe’s history of community outreach goes back nearly two decades. It makes sense that the city he grew up in is acknowledging him for it with such an honor.

Ne-Yo was born in Camden, Arkansas, but after relocating, he soon became a proud representative of Las Vegas, Nevada, a place he continues to call home. Moreover, he’s been rocking Sin City as of late with his Human Love Rebellion residency, a concert series that set the stage for a very special honor in his career. Moreover, the city’s Mayor Carolyn Goodman surprised the “2 Million Secrets” singer at his Wednesday show (August 7) and honored him with the Key to the City. Not only that, but Goodman also declared that Vegas will celebrate Ne-Yo Day on August 7 from this year onward.

“Yours has extra jewels [compared] to the one we gave Usher two months ago. You’re homegrown, my dear man … Congratulations!” the mayor told Ne-Yo two songs into his set. Goodman also remarked on his prowess, talent, and success as a musician, as well as his philanthropic efforts that have supported Las Vegas. While the 44-year-old still catches salacious headlines these days, such as dating rumors between his ex-wife and Maino, his music and art continues to speak louder than these elements… for better or worse.

“Thank you,” Ne-Yo emotionally told the crowd chanting his name as he accepted the Key to the City in a leopard print get-up. “I don’t want to get emotional, I’m trying to be fly. I can’t cry in this suit. Thank you to our lovely mayor, thank you to the city of Las Vegas, thank you all for being here.” This follows more concerning and divisive stories surrounding this legacy and career. He recently faced accusations from a former partner alleging assault and child neglect, though this hasn’t resulted in any sort of conclusion or verdict at press time.

But we know that Ne-Yo is in a very different, polygamous state right now when it comes to his love life. While there are still plenty of unanswered questions, these controversies exist within an otherwise beloved and continually successful trek as an artist. We’ll see what happens next, but for now, we can celebrate his artistry and acknowledge the great things he’s done for the city of Las Vegas. 50 Cent Blame’s “Diddy’s” Key To NYC For Keith Sweat’s Possibly Virtual Event Appearance

In a couple of weeks, 50 Cent will host his Humor & Harmony Weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana. The event has been boasting several fellow celebrity guests, including Keith Sweat. Recently, however, Fif took to Instagram to reveal that Sweat offered to attend the event virtually via Zoom instead of in person. He wasn’t feeling this at all, and called Sweat out for “tripping.”

According to him, Sweat’s hesitation to attend in person stems from the fact that he won’t be attending an important event for him a few days before his own. On August 3, Sweat is scheduled to accept the Entertainer’s Key to New York City. Previously, Diddy held the key to the city, but it was revoked after footage of him assaulting Cassie surfaced online.

“This [ninja] @keithsweat is tripping,” 50 Cent captioned the post. “He getting Diddy’s Key to the city Aug’s 3 They blocking off streets in Harlem for him. Now if he don’t show up in Shreveport, we ain’t f*cking with him no more. @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.” This prompted a response from Sweat, who took the opportunity to look back on Fif’s 1999 track “How to Rob,” in which he jokes about robbing him. “Hey Fif I gotta respond to you I’m definitely not coming to Shreveport now,” he wrote.

“I just remember you said this about me back in the day. I’ll see y’all in NYC Aug 3rd when I get to the key to the city. You need to be there with me and everything is squashed,” Sweat also added.
