Former security guard Thomas Weidenmüller accuses Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty of assaulting him backstage at a concert in 2019, and now, he’s in for a huge payday. According to the alleged victim, the incident took place in Germany after a fan breached security and got onstage where Nicki was performing. Weidenmüller says that after the show, he was confronted by both Nicki and Petty, and the run-in left him in need of multiple surgeries.
He alleged that after Nicki “screamed obscenities” and threw at him, Petty behind him and hit him in the face. “Petty repositioned himself out of my eyesight and without warning struck me in the face,” his lawsuit reads. “Which stunned and disoriented me. Because of the surprise nature of the attack, I am not sure as to whether Petty hit me with his fist or with a weapon.” Weidenmüller claims the blow broke his jaw. He went on to sue the pair in 2022 for his medical expenses, emotional distress, and more.
Nicki and Petty ignored the suit, and sought a default judgment of $750K. At the time, the judge shot him down, but he was later allowed to seek a new judgment. Now, the couple must pay up, $500K to be exact, as they failed to address the lawsuit once again. “The pain I felt in the moment was far more extreme than any pain I had ever experienced in my life, or have felt since that day,” Weidenmüller says of the attack in his suit. “I felt a blinding pain in my head, neck, and face.”

It’s not often that Nicki Minaj shows off her man on social media, but when she does, she never fails to put him to the test. In a new clip, she and Kenneth Petty are seen chatting with fans during a livestream when she decided to challenge him to finish some of her song lyrics. According to her, he claims to be her biggest supporter, so the task should be no problem.
“You say you the biggest Barb so now you gotta finish the lyric,” she said right before rolling into “Pink Birthday.” Petty was able to finish the line, but unfortunately, he was just a tad off. “Lowkey ‘cuz we just that ill now, ain’t never had a…” she rhymed, with him adding, “Bad b*tch ’til now.”
The actual lyrics are, “Ain’t never had a ill b*tch ’til now,” forcing Nicki to correct him. Luckily, he made up for the mistake with her next line. “Post a pic, got ’em jackin’ like…,” Nicki began. Without any trace of hesitation, he completed the lyrics, spitting “Like Jill now.” Nicki seemed pretty impressed by Petty’s ability to recite most of her lyrics, ultimately deciding that he “won Nicki trivia.” It looks like Papa Bear’s dad might be a huge Barb after all.
“I ain’t gonna lie, I ain’t know you was gonna get the words like that at least once,” she noted, looking shocked that he managed to ace the challenge. “That’s all I listen to!” he then reminded her. What do you think of Nicki Minaj challenging Kenneth Petty to finish her song lyrics? How’d he do? Are you surprised that he won? Do you think you could do better, or not? Nicki Minaj has fans on social media cringing over a livestream she posted with her husband, Kenneth Petty. Filming herself appearing to sit on his lap, she asks if her fans would love her if “they really knew” her. When The Neighborhood Talk reposted the clip, users expressed their discomfort in the comments section.
“I hate when she talk like that! Please miss talk regular,” one fan wrote. Another added: “It’s sad how the new barbs weren’t even born yet! Some were in diapers when we was rocking w/ the old Nicki! It’s ok for us to not rock w/ her now. I’m a retired barb! Idgaf how you new barbs feel!” Others came to Petty’s defense. “I honestly feel like kenneth is misunderstood!!” one said. “Yall hate him for no reason when he ain’t even touch ol gorl.”
Nicki Minaj & Kenneth Petty During N.Y. Fashion Week
Minaj and Petty’s relationship recently made headlines during the rapper’s feud with Megan Thee Stallion. Megan had seemingly referenced Petty being a registered sex offender in her song, “Hiss.” The move sparked several rants from Minaj on social media and an official response on the track, “Big Foot.” Check out Minaj’s latest stream with Petty on Instagram below.
Minaj is currently traveling on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour in promotion of her latest project. She’ll continue performing across the globe over the next several months before wrapping up in Belgium in July. Be on the lookout for further updates on Nicki Minaj on HotNewHipHop.
The trouble never seems to stop coming for Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty. The pair were both sued for an alleged assault that happened backstage at a show in 2019. The show took place in Germany and during a point in the show a fan managed to break through the security barrier. Thankfully he was stopped before he could get to Minaj, but the incident still clearly bothered her. The man who is suing her claims that he interrupted her backstage after the show while she was berating a female security guard about the breach.
The man filing the suit claims that he was later brought to a private room where Nicki was staying backstage. After arriving his suit claims Minaj hit him with his own barrage of insults. But the crucial moment in the suit came when he was reportedly hit in the face by Petty. Because the alleged attack surprised him he can’t know for sure whether it was with a fist or a weapon. The man sought a default judgement after Minaj failed to respond to his original lawsuit, but it was struck down by the judge. Now he’s being allowed to seek a judgement again and this time it submitting a series of notes from a doctor and an x-ray of his jaw as evidence.
What do you think of Nicki Minaj and her husband once again facing a potential default judgement in an assault lawsuit? Do you think the jaw x-ray is compelling enough evidence to win the case? Let us know in the comment section below.
After a chaotic few weeks in the world of female rap, Nicki Minaj has finally stopped lashing out at Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston native’s “HISS” track left the Queen of Rap in her feelings, specifically over a bar about Megan’s Law that seemed to be a direct shot at her husband, Kenneth Petty. For the most part, the Hotties and the Barbz have reduced the number of shots being thrown at one another, though the latter came rushing to Minaj’s defense, insisting legal action be taken after a fake Live Nation announcement surfaced online earlier this week.
“Disclaimer: Please be advised that in accordance with California state regulations, we are obligated to disclose the presence of a level three sex offender backstage,” the screenshot states. “Mr. Kenneth Petty will be present. Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older. Identification will be verified prior to entry through the metal detectors. We kindly request that attendees refrain from engaging with the aforementioned individual.”

The doctored notice also says that “Individuals under the age of 18 will be mandated to wear a distinctive pink neon vest labelled “CHILD UNDER 18″ and will be directed to a designated pit area reserved exclusively for minors. Security personnel will be stationed in close proximity to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the event.” So far, Minaj doesn’t seem to be responding to the petty antics, but if they continue, we can almost guarantee she won’t keep quiet.
Haters are making it hard for Nicki Minaj to focus solely on putting the final touches on her Pink Friday 2 Gag City Tour ahead of its March 1st debut. Still, the femcee is doing what she can to stay in high spirits, including switching up her look from her signature jet-black hair to a brighter, strawberry blonde style. Check out photos of that at the link below, and tap back in with HNHH later for more music/pop culture news.
Nicki Minaj is one of the most well-respected rappers in the music industry today, and she’s been romantically involved with other lyricists in the past. Among her highest profile relationships were Meek Mill and Safaree, though the black-haired beauty ultimately opted to settle down with a man who knew her before fame – Kenneth Petty. The couple shares one son, known to the world as Papa Bear. While their focus remains on building their happy family, they can’t seem to avoid legal controversies.
According to RadarOnline, Minaj is facing accusations of “provoking” her man to attack security at a 2019 concert after they failed to prevent a fan from rushing the stage. Guards quickly escorted the over-enthused attendee away. Still, the alleged victim claims the Queen of Rap was so upset by what could’ve happened that she had Petty assault him. First, she was yelling at a female security member, demanding answers about the fan’s appearance. At the time, Minaj was allegedly recording the encounter and yelling obscenities. Thomas Weidenmuller then stepped in to defend his co-worker, only for the Trinidadian to lash out at him too.
Later that day, Weidenmuller met with the mother of one, Petty, and two of her personal guards. “[Minaj] repeatedly screamed obscenities at him. She shouted, “Who do you think you are?” and demanded to know why he interrupted her when she attempted to video record her confrontation with the female security guard. She once again referred to the female security guard as a “f**king b**ch” and falsely insisted that Weidenmüller must have a physical or romantic relationship with her,” court documents state. “While Minaj screamed obscenities at me, Petty repositioned himself out of my eyesight and without warning struck me in the fact, which stunned and disoriented me. Because of the surprise nature of the attack, I am not sure as to whether Petty hit me with his fist or with a weapon.”
After seeking medical attention and undergoing numerous surgeries, Weidenmuller is asking for $724K in damages. He pointed out that Petty has a known history of violence, and that his wife encouraged him regardless of this. On the bright side for Nicki Minaj, she’s no longer on her husband’s decades-old sexual assault lawsuit. She’ll still appear “prominently” in the case, though the couple’s attorneys are trying to have Jennifer Hough’s allegations thrown out. Read all about that situation at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
Jennifer Hough, the woman suing Kenneth Petty over his 1994 attempted rape of her, has amended her petition to remove Nicki Minaj as a defendant. Per Meghann Cuniff, the suit is still proceeding and will prominently feature Minaj. However, Minaj is no longer being considered an active defendant in the suit. Petty spent four years in prison for attempting to rape Hough, who was a minor at the time of the assault. Furthermore, Petty is currently under house arrest. This sentence came after Petty tried to pull up on Offset during a flare-up of the feud between Minaj and Cardi B.
However, Petty’s lawyers are still trying to have the entire suit thrown out. “Plaintiff publicly filed the unnecessary sixteen ‘supplemental’ Exhibits with her letter motion, fourteen of which concerned Mr. Petty’s arrest in 1994. Plaintiff and her counsel then gave interviews to the media and made numerous posts on social media concerning the Exhibits and the proposed Second Amended Complaint,” Petty’s attorney wrote.
Meanwhile, Minaj recently appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Furthermore, one of the topics she was the most excited about was the chance to rave about her young son, Papa Bear. “My love was so selfish before he came along,” Minaj explained to Colbert. It’s a sentiment that Minaj has expressed several times before when discussing how Papa Bear radically changed her outlook on life.
Additionally, Minaj explained how she thinks that next year will be Papa Bear’s first true Christmas. Later, Minaj shared some hilarious insights into Papa Bear’s growth. “I’m not even joking, I keep on telling people about how strong he is. He is so strong. I could never imagine that a baby could be so strong. If he wants to push me, my body will move. He runs everything, and he’s been watching that movie [Boss Baby], so he channels that. He acts like that,” Minaj explained.
After challenging the Barbz to get #TellUsNicki trending worldwide yesterday, November 8, Minaj rewarded her fan base this morning, November 9, by revealing herself on the cover of Vogue‘s December Issue. Within the accompanying profile, Minaj discussed a range of topics, including what Pink Friday 2 will sound like, but she’s still keeping one secret to herself.
“Minaj has not publicly revealed the name of her son, whom she prefers to call Papa Bear,” Vogue‘s Rob Haskell wrote. “She and [Minaj’s husband, Kenneth] Petty navigated his infancy with no help whatsoever save for an occasional brief visit from a grandparent.” However, the cover spread features a photo of Minaj cradling Papa Bear, whose name has been a point of speculation since his birth on September 30, 2020.
DJ Akademiks discussed Nicki Minaj and her romantic relationships during a recent sit-down with VladTV. In doing so, he theorized that Minaj has a “masculine energy” in her love life and is the “alpha” in her relationships.
The conversation began with DJ Vlad discussing Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. “There are few women who are so alpha, in a sense, in how they’re in a relationship– I mean, she’s regarded as ‘The Queen’ by her fans,” Akademiks said. “You think she wanna hear a guy who’s not in the music industry tell her shit? You think she wanna go submit to a dude?”
From there, Vlad told a story he heard about Nicki “violating” her former partner, Safaree Samuels, for speaking up during an interview. “I think that’s her typical relationship,” Akademiks responded. “The same type of leverage most men feel in a relationship when you’re the rapper who gets an Instagram model who don’t got no money, so it’s like ‘your way goes.’ She has a lot of that energy in a lot of her life. She has that almost kind of masculine energy.” Check out Akademiks’ full comments on Minaj’s relationship with Kenneth Petty below.
DJ Akademiks Discusses Nicki Minaj
It’s not the first time Akademiks and Vlad have discussed Minaj. During a previous interview, Akademiks spoke about Minaj’s passionate fanbase. “You know why Nicki’s good? I wanna say great… her audience, and she has the best audience in Hip Hop,” he said back in September. “Them Barbz, they will never believe anything—and Nicki does a good job of not making it apparent. You ‘heard’ it, you didn’t ‘see’ it. So, like, when you say it, her audience is gonna take it as, ‘Oh, you’re just hating on Nicki’. [Minaj’s] fanbase is so solid…if she’s not the victim, no one believes it.”
Nicki Minaj, the talented wordsmith and Grammy-nominated icon, is known for pushing the envelope and creating some of the edgiest music to date. But behind those rhymes lies a love story that’s been corrupted by devious behavior. Nicki and her husband, Kenneth Petty, have a history dating back to their teenage years. Sparks flew, and in 2019, they threw caution to the wind and tied the knot. However, Petty’s life choices have resulted in numerous legal challenges. Among those include allegations, arrests, court appearances, and convictions that have cast a shadow on both Minaj’s life and career. At the heart of it all lies a victim of sexual abuse who still hopes for justice.
Kenneth Petty’s Criminality
In the sunny state of California, which they now call home, Kenneth was required to register as a sex offender to a 1995 attempted rape conviction. In 2019, Kenneth was pulled over for a routine traffic violation in Los Angeles. After all this time, Petty allegedly forgot to register as a sex offender in California. Petty would face up to ten years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for registering.
This stemmed from his attempted rape of Jennifer Hough in 1994 while the two were both 16-years-old. According to documents from The Blast, Hough was allegedly attacked by Petty while walking to school. Court documents claim Petty pressed an object against her back and told her to “keep walking.” Hough claimed Petty would have her walk back to his home before raping her at knifepoint. Hough said she was able to escape after hitting Petty with a bottle. Petty would deny the rape allegations all the way up to his conviction which included one count of attempted rape in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon. Petty would serve four years of an 18- 54-month sentence.
In 2021, Hough filed a lawsuit claiming the couple tried to strong-arm her into retracting her rape accusation. The lawsuit alleged both Nicki and Kenneth directly and indirectly intimidated and harassed Hough. It also claimed they bribed Hough, hoping she would recant her rape accusation.
Hough eventually pulled the plug on her suit against Minaj. A judge would demand both parties take it outside and settle the matter through mediation in 2022. However, things weren’t over. In August 2023, Hough brandished new evidence and hoped to drive home her point on Kenneth. She delivered a stern message: “The reason why he has to register is because he’s guilty. There’s no room for bullying people into towing the line for a clean image.”
These events have cast a long shadow over Nicki Minaj’s career who lives with the ghost of Kenneth Petty trailing close behind. Some die-hard fans and fellow artists are emphasizing the need to stick by your loved ones when the storm hits. But the other side?
They’re raising their brows, questioning Minaj’s choice to marry a man with who’s been accused of so many horrible crimes. It’s become a cultural maelstrom that’s split the legal system and the court of public opinion wide open.
Kenneth Petty: More Legal Trouble
In September 2023, Petty faced house arrest time for a video where he threatened rapper Offset. The Central District of California ordered him to do “up to 120 days in a home detention program.” According to the Los Angeles Times, Petty threatened to “knock them veneers out.” Offset, though, appeared to be taking it all in stride, laughing it off on social media.
