It is always a feel-good moment when family and friends compliment each other on the work they do. It could be for a variety of different things, but it is especially rewarding when you receive praise for raising your kids the right way. That is exactly what former bandmate and childhood friend of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland expressed in a recent interview with E! News. The Destiny’s Child singer could not hep but gush about B and Jay-Z’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
Blue has been joining her superstar mother during her wildly successful Renaissance tour. She continues to dance and perform with her in front of thousands of people even with some people criticizing the 11-year-old. They have said she is too stiff when dancing, which is absolutely ridiculous that people are judging the young girl. Even though she is doing something hardly any kids her age have ever come close to doing, people are still finding something negative to say. However, that is far from what Rowland had to say about Blue.
In the interview with E! News, Rowland says, “I’m very proud! She works very freaking hard, period. But how could she not, you know? She sees her mother in action and she sees her father in action and how they apply everything, hard work to everything that they do.” Blue Ivy first appeared in a performance in May, right around the time the Renaissance World Tour began. The last show will be put on at the very beginning of October in Kansas City, Missouri.
What are your initial thoughts on Kelly Rowland showering Blue Ivy Carter with praise on her work ethic? Will Blue become another mogul in pop culture when she grows up? Do you think she has too much pressure on her to succeed because she has Beyoncé and Jay-Z as her parents? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around the music world.
In case you don’t know, Houston natives Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland have been vigilant philanthropists since their early days of Destiny’s Child. Now the two icons are joining forces to build homes for low income Housing residents.
Click 2 Houston reports:
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announces the county’s collaboration with Houston legends Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland in efforts to mitigate homelessness in the Bayou City.
The $7.2 million initiative, provided through the American Rescue Plan funding, will create 31 new permanent supported housing units for people experiencing homelessness, the judge said.
Hidalgo said a bigger initiative will be announced in September, which is around the time Beyonce will be in Houston for shows on the “Renaissance” world tour, happening on Saturday, Sept. 23, and Sunday, Sept. 24 at the NRG Stadium. Salute to this black girl magic!
Beyoncé is currently touring all over the world, but the “Break My Soul” singer hasn’t forgotten about her hometown. Beyoncé is collaborating with former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland to give back to Houston by creating 31 permanent housing units for Harris County’s unhoused population, according to the Houston Chronicle.
This initiative was revealed on Tuesday (June 27). County leaders will use $7.2 million in American Rescue Plan funds to develop housing at the Bread of Life gymnasium at 2019 Crawford Street. Judge Lina Hidalgo added that an “even bigger launch” on the housing units will be divulged in September when the Renaissance World Tour is stopping by the Texas city.
“Harris County and the city of Houston, jointly with the coalition for the homeless, have reduced homeless in the middle of the pandemic by 20 percent, and we’ve been able to hold that reduction,” Hidalgo said in a press conference. “We just did the homeless count again, so it’s initiatives like this one I certainly will be supportive of it no matter whose behind it, but it’s especially interesting, I think, because there are these names of Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, who, of course, have been supportive of the community for a very long time.”
Former Destiny’s Child members Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland are teaming up with Harris County officials to address homelessness in their hometown of Houston. The duo’s collaboration aims to establish 31 permanent housing units in the Midtown area, with $7.2 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan. Kelly Rowland started her successful music career at a young age and created many hit records. Whether it was a part of Destiny’s Child, a solo track, or a guest feature, Kelly Rowland has played a role in creating some of the biggest hit R&B and pop songs. Her last full-length solo album, Talk a Good Game came out almost ten years ago, and since then, she has ventured outside of music into television and film.
Rowland’s most recent music release was a six-song EP titled K in 2021. She has been featured on hit songs such as Nelly’s “Dilemma,” David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over,” and Future’s “Neva End (Remix).” During Destiny Child’s run in the late 1990s and early 2000s, they released several hit singles, leading to them becoming one of the most prominent groups. Here, we’re counting down Kelly Rowland’s seven biggest solo songs, with the No. 1 spot being her biggest hit. Take a look at the list below.
7. “Can’t Nobody” (2002)
“Can’t Nobody” comes from Kelly Rowland’s 2002 solo debut album, Simply Deep. The album featured Solange, Joe Budden, and Nelly’s “Dilemma,” easily her biggest feature. The album came out before Destiny’s Child would eventually come back in 2004 from a hiatus for their final album, Destiny Fulfilled. The upbeat tempo and pop groove of “Can’t Nobody” sound like a product of the era when Destiny’s Child was at their commercial peak. The song is incredibly catchy and highlights Kelly Rowland’s hit-making ability and the important role she had in the success of Destiny’s Child. “Can’t Nobody” was certified gold in Australia and peaked at No. 5 in the UK.
6. “Kisses Down Low” (2013)
“Kisses Down Low” is Kelly Rowland’s biggest hit from her most recent full-length album, 2013’s Talk a Good Game. The song was the album’s lead single and followed the commercial success of her previous album, which contained her first solo No. 1 hit. Produced by Mike Will Made-It, “Kisses Down Low” is a pop song with bouncy 808s and sparkling synthesizers. The song was certified Gold in December 2013.
5. “Stole” (2002)
“Stole” is Rowland’s 2002 debut solo single and is easily one of her biggest hits. The song contains the same level of catchiness of a Destiny’s Child song but separates itself as a downbeat ballad, incorporating elements of pop and rock. Each verse tells a story of different young people who experience hardships like bullying, depression, violence, and teen pregnancy.
“Stole” performed well on American charts but was even more successful internationally. The song peaked within the Top 5 on charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and the UK. “Stole” is certified Platinum in Australia, gold in New Zealand, and Silver in Britain.
4. “Commander” feat. David Guetta (2010)
Kelly Rowland and David Guetta first collaborated in 2009 for “When Love Takes Over,” a dance anthem that reached No. 1 chart positions and achieved Platinum certification in multiple international markets. The following year, the two reunited once again for “Commander,” this time as a single for Kelly Rowland’s album, Here I Am.
“Commander” conquered clubs and charts worldwide, much like “When Love Takes Over.” As the title suggests, Kelly Rowland commands the song with her powerful vocals and fully displays her confidence. Though not as commercially successful as Rowland and Guetta’s previous collaboration, “Commander” went Gold in both the UK and New Zealand.
3. “Like This” feat. Eve (2007)
Kelly Rowland’s second studio album, 2007’s Ms. Kelly, contains some of her biggest hits. “Like This” is a party-ready song with a minimal yet bumping instrumental. It is a vintage yet modern production that leaves plenty of room for Rowland to shine vocally. In addition to Kelly’s melodies in the verses, the song has plenty of attitude in its infectiously repetitive hook. The piece is also practically made for Eve to shine with her confident flow. “Like This” has proven its longevity, achieving Gold status in America in 2020 and Silver status in the UK in 2022.
2. “Work” (2007)
Also from the Ms. Kelly album, 2007’s “Work” ranks high as one of Kelly Rowland’s biggest hits. The track features a pulsing rhythm similar to Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious,” made for the dance floor. “Work” came at a time when pop music was incorporating elements of Punjabi bhangra, which is reflected in the song’s instrumentation. It also paved the way for Rowland’s success in the dance world. Though it was not released as a single in North America, “Work” charted quite high internationally and is now Platinum in Australia and Italy and Gold in the UK.
1. “Motivation” feat. Lil Wayne (2011)
“Motivation” is undoubtedly Kelly Rowland’s biggest hit and best song. The tune is a modern R&B classic produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love. The song is a steamy display of Rowland’s ability to perfectly combine the sexiness of R&B and the appeal of a pop hit. Vocally, she glides across the down-beat instrumental. Lil Wayne joins Kelly and delivers a short yet clever verse with humorous punchlines. “Motivation” remains Kelly Rowland’s biggest hit song, being certified 2x Platinum status by 2013. The song was her first solo No. 1 hit as the lead artist on Billboard.
Matthew Knowles’s journey with Destiny’s Child is one for the history books. The father of Beyoncé and Solange acted as the manager and mastermind behind one of the most successful girl groups ever. Knowles was critical in shaping Destiny’s Child into the superstars we know today. His tireless efforts to launch and grow the careers of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and other group members. This resulted in an incredible legacy that remains influential in the music industry. Fans of the girl group are aware of Mathew’s influence, but we’ll revisit how the proud father helped them to reach global success.
Destiny’s Child Beginnings
The story of Destiny’s Child began in the early 1990s when Mathew Knowles, an experienced sales executive, saw the potential in his daughter and her friends. Recognizing their talent and passion for music, he formed the group Girl’s Tyme, which later evolved into Destiny’s Child. Mathew’s business acumen played a crucial role in the early stages. He quit his job to manage the group full-time and invested his resources into their growth.
His dedication paid off in 1997 when Destiny’s Child signed with Columbia Records, releasing their self-titled debut album a year later. The album’s first single, “No, No, No,” featuring rapper Wyclef Jean, quickly rose to the top of the charts, solidifying the group’s status as an emerging force in the industry. It laid the foundation for the girl group, and soon, their music videos were featured worldwide.
Destiny’s Child Global Success
Mathew Knowles’ determination and strategic vision helped launch Destiny’s Child into the stratosphere. Their sophomore album, The Writing’s on the Wall, released in 1999, became a multi-platinum hit. It spawned chart-topping singles like “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name.” During this time, Mathew’s management prowess was fully displayed. He expertly navigated lineup changes, contractual disputes, and the evolving music landscape. He emphasized the group’s branding and image, securing endorsement deals and expanding their reach into film and television appearances.
The group’s third album, Survivor, arrived in 2001 and was an instant success, fueled by the empowering title track and other hits like “Bootylicious.” Under Mathew’s guidance, Destiny’s Child was unstoppable, earning numerous awards, including Grammys, and becoming one of the best-selling girl groups ever.
Disbanding & Reunion Rumors
In 2005, Destiny’s Child announced their disbanding, a decision that Mathew Knowles later attributed to the members’ desire to pursue solo careers. Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle each succeeded as solo artists, with Beyoncé becoming a global phenomenon in her own right. Throughout the years, rumors of a Destiny’s Child reunion have persisted, with fans eagerly awaiting any news of a comeback. Mathew has acknowledged these rumors in various interviews, and although he remains tight-lipped about any definitive plans, he has expressed interest in the idea of a reunion.
Since Destiny’s Child disbanded, Knowles has continued to work in the music industry. He uses his expertise and experience to develop new talents and share his wisdom with aspiring artists. His impact on Destiny’s Child’s success is a blueprint for effective artist management. This highlights the importance of balancing creative vision with a strong business strategy.
Throughout her long-spanning career, Ciara has given us hits like “Level Up,” “Body Party,” “Goodies,” and “Love Sex Magic” with Justin Timberlake, just to name a few. While her vocals have obviously earned her plenty of praise, the 37-year-old’s dancing abilities are where she really shines. Thankfully for fans who follow her on social media, she’s never been shy about showing them off – and bringing along friends to help her. On Monday (April 24), it was Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland who came through to assist CiCi with her latest Instagram post.
“Kellz and CC make it bump ‘Like This,’ ,” the mother of three wrote in her caption, referencing the Atlanta native’s song featuring Eve that had both of their booties bouncing in the sunshine. While Ciara has previously been known to show off her toned figure in nearly-naked outfits, this time around she kept it cool in a pair of black sweatpants worn under a Tupac tee. She’s been switching up her hair frequently in recent weeks, but today’s look was an ultra-short blunt black bob that perfectly framed her cool yellow sunglasses.
Ciara and Kelly Rowland Are Dancing Queens
Rowland also opted for a more laid-back look, contrasting the “1, 2 Step” hitmaker with her bright white tee and light-coloured pants. As the infectious beat blasts on, the multi-talent’s show off their best moves and lip sync along in what appears to. be someone’s backyard. After some fun-loving freestyling from Ciara and her friend, we eventually see them twerking in unison to the chorus before breaking into more synchronized choreography.
Today’s post was obviously all about “Like This,” but in the past, Kelly Rowland and Ciara made magic together on their “Girl Gang” track. It remains unclear if they have set plans to collaborate again in the future, but with the Texas-born starlet preparing to drop more music in the near future, we certainly won’t rule out the possibility of more music magic. Kim Kardashian and Kelly Rowland—you’re probably wondering why these two are being mentioned in the same sentence. One quick Google search, however, will show the two sharing moments together dating as far back as 2009. The longtime pals have many questioning their relationship today after appearing in a workout session with one another. The Shade Room caught a glimpse of the beauties and highlighted them in their #TSRFioneNFit photo series.
When one user questions the “random link up,” another explains how Kim, Kelly, Lala Anthony, and Ciara have had a solid friendship group for years. “Nothing like working out w friends to keep you motivated,” the SKIMS CEO captioned the photo. Kelly reposted it onto her own Story, writing “FACTS!!!!!” in response. This is the first time Rowland has publicly appeared in Kim’s residence. One commenter noted, “Summer bodies are made in the winter!”

The Kardashians star has spoken out about her workout regimen in the past, which she continuously shows off to her 347 million followers. While most praised the women for their pending summer bodies in The Shade Room comments, Beyhive members somehow made the post about Beyoncé. Fans made mention of Kim Kardashian’s rumored estranged relationship with the Houston superstar before joking on her in the comments. “She couldn’t get Beyoncé so she went to another one of Destiny’s children,” wrote one, noting the iconic group Kelly Rowland was part of.
