Doechii has been on the come up for over the last year or so. Even though the TDE roster is stacked, she’s managed to remain as one of their most intriguing prospects and this year, she’s really breaking through. Just a couple of weeks ago, she dropped off her excellent mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal. While it’s got some flaws, it showcases that she’s got the stuff to be a true superstar. She possesses a lot of charisma, creativity, solid lyricism, as well as crossover appeal thanks to her ability to sing as well. The latter quality is what’s allowing Doechii to get on the radar of modern pop hitmaker Katy Perry.
Their new collab, “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE”, was previewed at the MTV VMAs this past Wednesday with both of them being able to perform it. If this isn’t another step into becoming one of the biggest rappers in the game, we aren’t sure what is. Overall, the song may annoy you on its first couple of listens and could come across as a generic pop rap radio hit. But it is growing on us a little bit, but that’s mostly thanks to Doechii adding some extra oomph to the single. As for Perry, this represents her third offering from her upcoming seventh album, 143, which is due September 20. Apparently, she’s going to be working with more MCs, including 21 Savage and JID, which isn’t too surprising given how many of them she’s worked with in the past.
What you tryna do? Baby, lock in We could get it in, you could bring a friend H*es so pressed when I step in the spot I’m so possessive and up-echelon Upper echelon rollin’ up in the shade If you try to vibe with him, might catch a fade
While her 143 album has received a mountain of pushback, most notably around its professional affiliation with Dr. Luke, there is one collaboration fans are digging: During the VMAs, Katy Perry debuted her track “I’m His, He’s Mine” with Doechii.
Now, the unapologetically possessive record, which samples Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless),” has an official music video to match. Throughout the video directed by Torso, Katy Perry and Doechii demonstrate just how they mark their romantic territory.
“I’m his queen, I’m his freak / I’m every woman he wants and needs / I’m his dream, I’m his drug / I’m every woman he wants, so what? / I’m his boss, I’m that b*tch / I’m every woman he knows exists / I’m his main, I’m his side / I’m every woman that’s in his mind,” sings the pair.
From daredevil like stunts to full-on PDA, Katy Perry and Doechii hold nothing back. In interviews, Katy Perry discloses intimate details of her relationship with Orlando Bloom, but “I’m His, He’s Mine” takes it to another level.

143 is out 9/20 via Capitol. Find more information here.

The album’s singles, particularly “Firework” and “California Gurls,” enjoyed extensive airplay and topped charts globally, solidifying Perry’s status as an international pop star. “Firework,” a self-empowerment anthem, became one of her signature songs, admired for its uplifting message and memorable melody. The enduring legacy of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream is reflected in its continued influence on the pop music landscape. The album didn’t just represent a series of chart-topping hits; it signified a shift in pop culture, embodying a vibrant era of music where spectacle and songcraft coalesced seamlessly. Perry’s ability to create a visually compelling narrative alongside her music helped redefine the possibilities of pop stardom and music video artistry.
Teenage Dream set a new standard for pop albums, particularly in its success with multiple singles. Perry’s record of five number-one hits from a single album inspired artists to strive for both commercial appeal and artistic diversity. Her mix of playful, party anthems with emotionally resonant ballads on the album created a blueprint for pop success that many have since attempted to emulate.
Moreover, the album solidified Katy Perry’s image as an icon of empowerment and self-expression, themes that resonated with her fans worldwide. Her songs from Teenage Dream have become staples in the genre, often cited for their catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics. The album’s success propelled Perry into a new stratum of celebrity, establishing her as a key influence in modern pop music and a role model for aspiring artists.
Make no mistake, Katy Perry is one of the most definitive pop acts of the century. However, like all megastars, collaborating with Hip Hop acts is evident. Katy Perry is no different and has some notable Hip Hop collaborations that have greatly elevated her pop tracks. From the chart-topping “E.T.” featuring Kanye West to the trap-pop club banger “Bon Appétit” with the Migos, Perry has worked with some of the most prominent rappers around. In continuing on with her roll, Katy Perry revealed she wants to collab with Ice Spice.
Although her sound has evolved over the years, her fifth studio album, Witness, was a highlight. On Witness, Katy Perry enlisted not one but three Hip Hop acts for some of the biggest collabs in her discography. Additionally, Kodak Black has expressed interest in working with her. Judging from the success of her previous pop-rap partnerships, perhaps another hit is in store for her. Overall, her work with rappers has been some of the best pop-rap mergers of the modern music scene.
“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” feat. Missy Elliott (2011)
Due to the overwhelming success of the original track, the remix of “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” went largely under the radar. However, featuring Missy Elliott was evidently a brilliant idea, particularly with the flow Elliott brought to the unmistakably pop sound. The Hip Hop queen kicked off the song with a sonically advanced tone and fun, sexy lyrics to top it off. Elliott reappeared towards the end of the track before Perry closed out with the chorus. It’s one of a few Hip Hop collabs that Katy Perry can boast of, arguably one of her best.
“Bon Appétit” feat. Migos (2017)
On her fifth studio album, Witness, Katy Perry featured several notable Hip Hop stars. One of the most popular tracks on the album is “Bon Appétit,” which features Migos. “Bon Appétit” packs a ton of genres into its almost four-minute runtime. From dance-pop to drum and bass, and of course, Migos’ signature trap, the song was heavily played in the club scene. While the reception was mixed, the song was a moderate commercial success. However, Migos’ verse was welcome, as well as the song’s EDM feel. Since its release, Katy Perry has performed it several times, as it is one of her most popular Hip Hop collabs to date.
“Chained To The Rhythm” feat. Skip Marley & Lil Yachty (2017)
While “Chained to the Rhythm” is Hip Hop-leaning, it remains one of the most lauded collabs Katy Perry has in her catalog. Skip Marley is featured on the single track, while Lil Yachty appears on an official remix. Overall, the song’s message about real-world issues is particularly noteworthy, and one of the reasons for its success. “Chained to the Rhythm” is easily one of Perry’s most conscious offerings and marked a significant moment in her writing portfolio, signaling great songwriting improvement.
Both the Barbz and Katycats had clamored for a collaboration for a long time between Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. Eventually, in 2017, the two stars joined forces on the former’s single, “Swish Swish.” One of her most popular collabs, Perry revealed to Jimmy Fallon that the song is aimed at her bullies and haters. Most notably, the song was believed to be aimed at Taylor Swift, who was feuding with Perry at the time. Nonetheless, the track’s highlight was Nicki Minaj, who delivered a cutthroat verse to accompany Perry’s vocals. While the song was moderately well received, Nicki’s verse was lauded.
“E.T.” feat. Kanye West (2011)
Enlisting Kanye West for the official single, Perry achieved great success with the single “E.T.” in 2011. West, who had already begun to make waves for his electronic-infused music, was a perfect addition to the song. The pair performed the track at numerous events, including the Grammy Awards. West also appeared in the music video for “E.T.,” providing a more mellow visual image than Perry’s outlandish costumes and imagery. The song was both a critical and commercial success, and West’s involvement helped shoot the single to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Katy Perry cinched the top spot on numerous charts with “Dark Horse,” one of her biggest Hip Hop collabs. While the song’s reception was critically mixed, fans widely praised it. Consequently, the song has achieved a Diamond certification, with over 11 million units sold. “Dark Horse” is a trap-pop song that employs a haunting melody. Juicy J provided his verse in signature style, awarding the track an extra oomph. The success of “Dark Horse” was rather monumental, and the single ended the 2010s as the 26th-best Billboard hit.
“California Gurls” feat. Snoop Dogg (2010)
In what is undoubtedly one of her most notable songs, “California Gurls” didn’t take any time to reach the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100. The confectionary tune was also greatly elevated by its featured act, Snoop Dogg. The West Coast icon floated effortlessly on the unabashedly bubblegum pop track. He also appeared in the song’s music video and engaged in a candy battle with the singer. Katy Perry began a tremendous music chart-topping run with “California Gurls,” and the song remains one of her most notable collabs.
Amid Canterbury, England’s cobblestone streets and venerable architecture, Orlando Bloom took his first steps towards what would become a cinematic odyssey. He was born to a South African-born anti-apartheid novelist and an Englishwoman. Bloom was immersed in a world of intellectual vivacity and artistic spirit. At 16, he moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre—a decision that acted as a prologue to his enrollment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. At Guildhall, Bloom honed his craft and received a crash course in adversity; a back injury almost cost him his mobility. However, true to the dramatic arcs he would later portray, he rebounded with unwavering resolve.
The Cinematic Atlas: A Litany of Roles, A Cache of Praise
It wasn’t long after his theatrical education that Bloom found himself in New Zealand. He donned pointed ears and ethereal garb for his role as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings. The trilogy was more than a pop culture phenomenon—it was also a veritable big bang for Bloom’s career. As if sailing through a career buoyed by elven archery wasn’t enough, he brandished a different kind of weaponry as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Awards? They followed suit. A Screen Actors Guild Award for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl adorned his figurative mantle, rendering his early critics unequivocally moot.
Dollars & Goodwill: The Bloom Benevolence Portfolio
Orlando Bloom’s net worth has burgeoned to an impressive $40 million in 2023, according to CelebrityNetWorth, yet his financial adventures haven’t been purely self-indulgent. He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, turning his global influence into palpable change. Whether it’s visiting schools in violence-ridden Eastern Ukraine or advocating for children’s rights in the British Parliament, Bloom has redefined the phrase “star power.”
A Portfolio In Progress: Orchestrating Beyond The Silver Screen
Far from a one-dimensional actor, Bloom’s business endeavors reflect an intelligent and adaptive mind. He’s invested in tech startups, although not rivaling the Midas-like tech magnates. And lest we overlook his eco-conscious moves. He’s an ardent advocate for environmental sustainability, diving into ventures championing renewable energy. He may not be Captain Planet, but his green ambitions serve as a reprise of his more heroic roles.
North West has more going for her than most 9-year-olds do. Parents Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are both driven high-achievers in their respective fields, and North clearly inherited her dad’s artistic skills, as she showed with an Ice Spice drawing she shared earlier this year. She seems to have also inherited his confidence, as evidenced by a recent interaction she and Katy Perry shared.
Perry recently invited North on stage during a show at her ongoing PLAY residency in Las Vegas. Perry told North she’s a fan of her TikTok account and invited her to dance for the audience. North wanted to get her pals involved, asking Perry, “Can my friends come out with me?” North’s friends joined her on stage and Perry continued, “You’re 9 years old, that’s so cool. You know, at 9 years old, I started singing. That’s when I found my little spark. What do you want to be when you grow up?” After a brief pause, North responded simply and self-assuredly, “Everything,” which got some cheers from the crowd.
Somebody who’s not a fan of North’s TikTok is Kanye. In a video that resurfaced recently, Kanye vented about how he doesn’t want North to get “used” by the platform.
Rihanna is one of the most accomplished musicians of all time. Ms. Fenty first conquered the music game when she hit the scene 17 years ago. During that time, she has won 9 Grammy Awards and amassed 14 number-one hits. Additionally, her Savage X Fenty line has become one of the most recognizable clothing brands in the world. Now, the Barbadian superstar can put yet another notch in her belt. She is the most followed woman on Twitter.
Social Blade reports that Rihanna has surpassed Katy Perry as the woman with the most followers on the platform. The “Umbrella” singer currently holds 108,278,326 followers. Additionally, Ri now ranks fourth overall in terms of followers. Her closest competitor is Justin Bieber in third place who holds an impressive 113,171,252 followers. However, it will take some major catching up for Rihanna to challenge for a top two spot. Second place is held by former President Barack Obama, with 132,941,739 followers. Meanwhile, just ahead of Obama at number one is Twitter owner Elon Musk who has 134,341,896 followers.
Rihanna Continues Run Of Success
The past couple of years have been great both professionally and privately for Rihanna. It was announced in 2021 that the songstress had become a billionaire. Additionally, she and partner ASAP Rocky welcomed their first child last May. Furthermore, she announced in February that she was pregnant again. The couple’s second child is due later this Summer. Moreover, she headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February.
Fans of Rihanna are undoubtedly proud of the star for her accomplishments. However, there is one thing some fans feel is missing, a new album. Rihanna’s last album release was Anti all the way back in 2016. This is a big change for the star who became known for pumping out album after album earlier in her career. However, there may be cause for optimism from. During an interview with British Vogue in February, Rihanna did hint that she would like to complete an album this year. We will see if she can manage to squeeze that in along with her numerous other ventures.
Rihanna now holds another record, as the singer and makeup mogul surpassed Katy Perry this week to become Twitter’s most followed woman. According to SocialBlade, Rihanna sits at 108,278,326 to Perry’s 108,261,949 when this was written, giving her about a 20,000 lead now. Overall, RiRi has the fourth-highest follower count on the social platform, behind (sigh) the company’s owner Elon Musk, Barack Obama, and Justin Bieber. Rihanna needs a few million more followers to pass Bieber and become the most-followed musician on the platform, as Bieber currently sits at 113,156,831 followers.
In terms of other musicians that round out the top ten of Twitter’s most followed, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande follow close behind at No. 7 and No. 10.
This comes on the heels of an already big year for Rihanna, between playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show just a few months ago and announcing she’s having a second child with ASAP Rocky. She also performed her song “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s soundtrack at the Oscars, where it was also nominated for an award.
She was also the only female musician to make this year’s Forbes Billionaire List, with her net worth estimated at $1.4 billion, through her music, partnerships, and her Fenty Beauty empire. (Jay-Z and Jimmy Buffett were the only other two performers on the ranking.)
While fans are probably still waiting for new music, Rihanna’s return, whenever it happens, now has an opportunity to be major considering her constantly growing following.
Last week commenced the 21st season of American Idol, and Sunday (February 26th) harbored an emotional start to the series. While going through auditions in New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Nashville, the show’s judges found themselves with an especially heartbreaking performance. Trey Louis, a mattress salesman from Santa Fe, Texas, created a heavy interpretation of Whiskey Myer’s “Stone,” and opened his heart further to share a traumatic experience with the judging panel.
In 2018, the 21-year-old was a victim of the shooting at Sante Fe High School and barely had escaped the massacre. As a result of this tragic event, eight students and two teachers lost their lives, including those who were close to Louis. “A gunman walked into my school,” he revealed to the judges. “I was in art room one, and he shot up art room two before he made his way to art room one. Lost a lot of friends.”
Louis’s soulful and rugged cover of “Stone” earned him a standing ovation from Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. But the applause quickly turned to tears after hearing about his experience in the shooting. When Louis revealed how his hometown has been looked down upon since the incident, Perry couldn’t hold in her emotions. “Our country has (expletive) failed us,” Perry reacted. “This is not OK! You should be singing here because you love music! Not because you had to go through that (expletive). You didn’t have to lose… friends. I hope that you remind people that we have to change, because, you know what? I’m scared too.”
The “Swish Swish” singer’s outburst even brought tears to Richie’s eyes. He added, “we have tolerated this for so long, too long. It’s become a norm.” The three judges unanimously voted for Louis to go through to Hollywood. But before the decision was revealed, Perry had one final comment for the survivor. “We’ve got to change,” she told him, calling for Louis to “lead.” “For myself, for my school, and for you, you got it,” he responded.
