J. Cole Asks Kanye West To Clear The ‘Villematic’ Sample From ‘Friday Night Lights’ At Dreamville Fest

Sunday night, during J. Cole’s headlining set at Dreamville Festival, the North Carolina rapper shouted out Kanye West. Just ahead of a performance of the fan favorite “Villematic” from his star-making 2010 tape Friday Night Lights, Cole implored the mercurial producer to clear the sample on the song; on it, Cole raps over Kanye’s Rick Ross collaboration “Devil In A Blue Dress” from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Cole has repeatedly addressed the absence of his two breakout tapes, Friday Night Lights and its predecessor, 2019’s The Warm Up, from digital streaming platforms. In 2019, he tweeted “10 years ago The Warm Up dropped. Thanks 2 all that have listened 2 the foundation of my whole journey. My catalogue on streaming services don’t even look right until this & FNL are up. workin on it.”

In 2020, he posted a similar anniversary recollection on Instagram (which has since been deleted). “This one defined me as a artist,” he wrote. “Thank you forever for the love … My dream is to one day have this on DSP’s where it belongs.”

Unfortunately for J. Cole, Kanye has become more unpredictable than ever in pursuing grudges — and he has good reason to be upset with Cole. In 2016, Cole’s track “False Prophets” drew attention as he called out an unnamed fallen hero of rap many assumed to be Kanye, who was then cozying up to Donald Trump. Late last year, as Kanye immolated himself with antisemitic rhetoric, “False Prophets” trended on Twitter as fans noted that Cole appeared to have predicted his hero’s downfall.

Ye isn’t likely to have taken that kindly; while he did eventually clear a sample for Drake, who was in a similar position with So Far Gone‘s sample of “Say You Will” from 808s And Heartbreak, since then, Kanye has only gotten more surly. Cole might just be forced into a situation like Chance The Rapper or De La Soul, releasing the project to DSPs with a slightly altered tracklist.

Pete Davidson Defends Spotty Dating History

Pete Davidson has received quite a bit of attention for his history of dating female celebrities. The actor and comedian rose to fame in the mid-2010s when he became a popular cast member on the legendary sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. Davidson joined the cast in during its 40th season in 2014. He spent the following 8 years on the show, during which time he became a household name. However, his fame was far more likely due to the women he dated during that period than his SNL tenure. Davidson’s dating roster reads like a who’s who of Hollywood it-girls. Still, he doesn’t think that his extensive list of past partners is all that bad.

In an interview on the Real Ones With Jon Bernthal podcast, Davidson opened up about his dating life. His list of exes, which includes the likes of Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande, is something that many people take issue with for one reason or another. Davidson, however, finds the negative reactions confusing. During the podcast, he clarifies that he is “not on social media”. As such, he contends that he is not sliding into anyone’s DMs or trying to flex his relationships publicly for his own sake. According to Davidson, he’s met all of his exes at work. The relationships, he says, had a negative effect on his time working at SNL. “They’re making fun of you… and then you gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark,” Davidson said of the experience.

A Timeline of Davidson’s Dating History

In 2018, Pete Davidson began dating one of the most famous pop stars in the world, Ariana Grande. She was not his first celebrity partner, but the 5 month relationship certainly put Davidson on the map in a way that he hadn’t been previously. The two were briefly engaged before they split. He then dated actress Kate Beckinsale in early 2019. Later that year, he had a short fling with actress Margaret Qualley. Shortly thereafter, it was reported that he was dating another actress, Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford.

Davidson’s most famous relationship, however, was with Kim Kardashian, but this was mostly due to Kanye’s reaction to the news. For months on end, there seemed to be daily headlines about it. Since his split with Kim, Davidson’s headline-making romances seem to have dwindled. Earlier this year, there was news of a short fling with Emily Ratajkowski, but that seemed to have fizzled out quickly. He’s now been linked to Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Chase Sui Wonders. What do you think about Pete’s dating history? Is 12 relationships in 10 years normal? Let us know in the comments!

Chlöe Wanted Her New Album ‘In Pieces’ To Feel Like Kanye West And ‘Progressive’

At midnight a few hours ago, Chlöe dropped her debut solo album, In Pieces. Of course, that’s a major moment for the young artist, so she shared her excitement about it in a video posted ahead of the project’s release.

She starts the video by mostly failing to stifle joyful laughter and saying, “I’m so happy! It feels so good!” She went on to acknowledge the control she gave herself over the album, saying, “I just gotta trust myself more. Executive produced by Chloe Bailey! Produced by Chloe Bailey! I produced on every song on that record except two songs. Every other thing on there, produced by, vocal produced by… every song, vocal produced by, Chlöe.”

Chlöe also noted of the project’s mission statement, “I wanted this album to signify and represent heartbreak in every way, and that’s what I said three years ago, and somewhere down the line, it changed and I lost sight of that. Look right back where I ended up.” She added of the album’s influences, “I’ve always wanted it to feel progressive and different and fun and… the feeling I get when I listen to Kanye [West] and Mike Dean and Travis [Scott], I always wanted that sound in my music.”

In Pieces is out 3/31 via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. Find more information here.

Seth Rogen Jokes ‘21 Jump Street’ Should Be Sent ‘Around the World’ After Kanye’s Jonah Hill Remarks

Seth Rogen Is Fine With Not Getting Any Credit For ‘Curing’ Kanye West’s Antisemitism

Kanye West is more synonymous with antisemitism than music or anything else since his dangerous antisemitic Twitter rant and even more inexcusable sit-down with Alex Jones late last year.

Last weekend, West claimed on Instagram, “Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again.” He continued, “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Cue Seth Rogen’s famous laughter.

Rogen was promoting the forthcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie with CinemaBlend when he was asked about Hill and 21 Jump Street magically making West “like Jewish people again,” which, to be clear, is not a viable approach against antisemitism. Rogen roared his distinctive laugh before saying, “You know what? [Hill] can have it. Happy to be left out of that one. But you know what? Good! Cured!”

Rogen added, “They should send that movie around the world — let everyone watch it! I wrote some jokes for that movie, so I feel slight ownership.”

Last December, Rogen poked fun at Kim Kardashian after she didn’t show at The Hollywood Reporter‘s Women In Entertainment breakfast (as noted by Page Six).

“Are we going to talk about how Kim Kardashian didn’t show up? Is that going to happen?” Rogen said at the podium. “I’ll say this … I have seen every episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I know she is not doing something more important than this. I’ve seen 100,000 hours of her. She’s never done something more important than this. This would be the climax of the show.”

And Rogen subtly snuck in a perceived jab at West, “She’s probably dealing with a lot right now.”

Kardashian and West reportedly finalized their divorce last November, per People, and Kardashian has been open about how “f*cking hard” it is to co-parent with West.

Seth Rogen Laughs At Kanye West’s Jonah Hill Apology Post

Kanye West had everyone mildly confused on Saturday when he issued an apology for the hateful comments he made toward the Jewish community. The Chicago rap star shared a photo of the 21 Jump Street theatrical poster and praised Jonah Hill (who refused to acknowledge the artist’s comments) for making him “like Jewish people again.” Major organizations like the American Jewish Committee and Stop Antisemitism rejected the apology as it didn’t come across with sincerity.

However, Seth Rogen feels as though the tongue-in-cheek apology could be a sign of Kanye West finally taking accountability. Rogan sat down with CinemaBlend to discuss the Super Mario Bros. Movie but he also provided a reaction to Ye’s post. After cackling at the post, Seth Rogen said that he’ll allow Jonah Hill to “have it.” “Happy to be left out of that one. But you know what? Good! Cured! They should send that movie around the world, let everyone watch it,” Seth Rogen said. “I wrote some jokes for that movie, so I feel slight ownership.”

Seth Rogen Laughs At Kanye West’s Apology

Ye’s recent apology a few months after a disastrous beginning to his press campaign. The man behind “Bound 2,” which Seth Rogen and James Franco parodied, went on a months-long media run, specifically on right-wing platforms, where he spewed anti-Semitic narratives as a means to push back against the media and corporate powers above him. Eventually, platforms like Instagram and Twitter gave him the boot for his hateful tirade, although they later reinstated his accounts.

The anti-Semitic tirade led to fractured relationships with brands like Balenciaga, Adidas, and GAP, a brand he previously signed a decade-long contract with. In a matter of weeks, Ye watched the multi-billion dollar empire he established crumble in front of him. It seems as though Kanye West is trying to repair the harm that he’s done but as the AJC and SA suggested, it will take far more than watching a buddy-cop film starring a Jewish actor. Check out Seth Rogen’s comments above on Kanye West’s recent apology and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Israeli PM Calls Trump’s Dinner With Kanye West A “Big Mistake”: Report

No one’s forgotten about Kanye West’s anti-semitic tirade throughout the end of 2022, especially the prime minister of Israel. Just after Ye offered an olive branch to the Jewish community with a post about Jonah Hill, Benjamin Netanyahu recently sat down with Piers Morgan for an exclusive interview where he shed light on his true feelings about Trump’s dinner with Ye. He described the meeting as “horrible,” as Trump hosted Kanye West and prominent ring-wing figure Nick Fuentes at Mar-A-Lago.

“I thought it was horrible. I think it’s a big mistake,” Netanyahu said of Trump’s dinner with Kanye West and Fuentes. “It’s wrong from every point of view. It [anti-semitism] should not be countenanced, it should not be accepted, it should be rebuked and condemned and that’s what I do. And I don’t care where it comes from, or from whom.” Despite his praise for Trump in the past, Netanyahu is among the millions of people outraged at his decision to invite Kanye West to dinner as he spewed hatred toward the Jewish community.

Kanye West & Trump’s Friendship Leaves Israeli PM Upset

Kanye West and Trump began forming a tight bond just as the former president entered office. Following the tumultuous Life Of Pablo tour that ended abruptly. Ye and Trump met in New York for a meeting. However, it was a few years later that Kanye West went full-blown MAGA. His infamous appearance at the White House remains a contentious part of Ye’s legacy. That moment marked the beginning of a downward spiral that included his anti-Jewish remarks on podcasts and social media.

Netanyahu didn’t comment on Kanye West’s potential bid for president in the 2024 elections. However, Trump certainly isn’t down to run against him. During the same press run that found Ye identifying as a Holocaust denier, he revealed that part of his trip to Mar A Lago was to ask Trump to be his VP. Kanye said Trump yelled at him but the former president but Trump said he advised Ye, “Don’t run for office, a total waste of time, can’t win,” before taking a shot at media, writing, “Fake News went CRAZY!”
