Jay Worthy Links With Kamaiyah And Producer Harry Fraud For “THE AM3RICAN DREAM”

Jay Worthy, Kamaiyah, and Harry Fraud are back once again, but this time it is for something bigger. That something is the collaborative album that sees all three of them combine their talents effortlessly. The tape, THE AM3RICAN DREAM, features nine tracks, including production all from Harry Fraud. All three headlining artists are not alone on this journey, though.

There is plenty of extra star power throughout the tracklist. You will see appearances from Guapdad 4000, Buddy, Max B, Ty Dolla $ign, DRAM, and more. Most of the beats here are very boom-bap-heavy and are buttery smooth. It contrasts well with Worthy and Kamaiyah’s sometimes grimy lyrics. Before this project’s release, we only had one single in promotion for it.

That is the first cut on the record, “9AM.” Worthy and Kamaiyah are really good on this one in particular. Jay’s chorus is really catchy and easy to rap along to. For the Vancouver to Cali product, this follows up his previous tape, Nothing Bigger Than The Program. This is the first record for Kamaiyah in over a year. Give it a listen up above.

Jay Worthy Recruits Kamaiyah And Harry Fraud For Grand “9AM”

Brooklyn, Oakland, and Vancouver all collide for a new single. Those cities are home to Harry Fraud, Kamaiyah, and Jay Worthy, respectively. Worthy has had a busy 2023, to say the least. Back at the start of summer, he and Roc Marciano dropped a joint album called Nothing Bigger Than The Program. It also sported features from Bun B, Ab-Soul, A$AP ANT, and more. On top of that release, the rapper has been putting out a steady flow of singles and features.

He has been working with the likes of Hit-Boy, Wiz Khalifa, and now Kamaiyah and Harry Fraud. Worthy and Fraud have already teamed up together with their single “GS 350.” However, this newest single with the producer “9AM,” will be on another upcoming project. Worthy made this announcement on his Instagram page a couple of days ago.

Who Is Opening YG, Tyga, And Saweetie’s ‘Str8 To The Club Tour?’

This week, YG, Tyga, and Saweetie launch their Str8 To The Club Tour in Sacramento, before heading north to San Francisco then taking over arenas in Las Vegas, Tucson, Tacoma, Vancouver, and more. The trio will be joined by three openers: Kamaiyah, Wallie The Sensei, and DJ Vision. The tour will likely offer fans a preview of Tyga and YG’s upcoming joint album, as well as Saweetie’s long-delayed debut, along with a look at some of California’s hottest up-and-coming artists. So…

Who Is Opening YG, Tyga, And Saweetie’s Str8 To The Club Tour?

DJ Vision

DJ Vision is a Los Angeles-based DJ who has mainly supported OhGeesy as his tour DJ, accompanying him on his 2022 Geezyworld Tour, as well as touring with YG on The Red Cup Tour with OhGeesy, and YG’s 4Hunnid artists Day Sulan, and D3SZN. The earliest tour on his social media is YG’s F*ck Donald Trump Tour in 2016, which featured Kamaiyah, RJ (aka RJMrLA), and Sad Boy.

Kamaiyah

Kamaiyah is an interesting addition to the lineup because of the history between her and YG. After garnering a strong reception for her 2016 mixtape A Good Night In The Ghetto, she signed with 4Hunnid Records as one of YG’s first artists with distribution through Interscope. However, after her debut album was delayed multiple times, she left both labels in a rather contentious split. It appears the two are back on better terms now that Yaya is back independent. She has continued to release new music, dropping her most recent full-length album, Oakland Nights, in 2020, and an EP, Diving Timing, last year. She has released a steady stream of new singles in 2023, including “Shot Callin’,” “All Night,” and “Heat Warning.”

Wallie The Sensei

Wallie The Sensei is a newer artist from — where else? — Compton, who dropped his debut album, Golden Child, in 2021, following up in 2022 with Here 2 Stay. He approaches rap with the contemporary melodic flow popular with fellow Hub City natives like Roddy Ricch and Kalan.FrFr, crooning about the heartbreak of growing up knee-deep in hood politics. According to an early bio on local rap blog Rosecrans Ave. (what up, Vic!), his goal is to provide a positive outlook and guidance for those stuck in similar situations — hence the “sensei” in his stage name. On Instagram, he’s tagged himself a “Hope Dealer,” and his music certainly seems to offer a sliver of silver lining amid the emotional catharsis.

Kamaiyah Posted Her Matching Tattoos With Kehlani To Show Their ‘Sisterhood Wasn’t Fake’ Despite Their Past Beef

So often in the music industry, artists fall out with one another, causing waves of coverage and breathless speculation from fans. However, their reconciliations rarely receive the same level of scrutiny. Case in point: Bay Area rapper Kamaiyah is pretty fed up with addressing rumors and questions about her falling out with Kehlani, who is also from the Bay.

The two artists were thick as thieves at one point in their careers until 2020 when Kamaiyah declared on Twitter that she “don’t f*ck with” Kehlani after allegedly being removed from the singer’s 2019 single “All Me.” However, Kehlani addressed accusations of colorism at the time, saying “please do not take this bold ass lie and f*ckin run with it.” At the time, I wrote that they could hopefully “get on Zoom or something and settle this out of the public’s eye.”

It seems that’s just what they did, but due to that fact, many folks missed it. When Bay-focused Twitter fan account Thizzler On The Roof (A1 name, by the way) reported on comments Kamaiyah made about feeling overlooked, it apparently drew some criticism from fans due to the prior disagreement. “This post got y’all messaging me about me and Kehlani again so I’m going to address it so we can wrap this up in 2023,” she wrote in response.

“Me and Kehlani talked privately (as we should) and have no issues whatsoever,” she continued. “What happened happened and it’s over. She’s talented, I love her, and that sh*t is dead let it go.” To further highlight the restoration of their bond, Kamaiyah also posted a photo of the pair’s matching tattoos, explaining, “I literally have matching tattoos with kehlani our fallout over business differences should’ve never hit the internet and I apologized 3 years ago PUBLICLY for it. Our sisterhood wasn’t fake, family gets into it all the time ours just got a lil ghetto because of who we are.”

Of course, nothing seals a musical reconciliation like a collaboration or two. Fans can miss out on tweets, but not new music.

Kehlani is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

YG & Kamaiyah Finally Squash Their Beef During Oakland Concert

YG and Kamaiyah had the West Coast on lock during the mid-2010s. The Oakland rapper inked a deal with 4Hunnid, which ultimately landed her on the hook of “Why You Always Hatin” alongside Drake and many other hits. Unfortunately, things took a turn and Kamaiyah expressed her frustrations with YG and the label.

Finally, they’ve ended their feud. Last night, YG performed in Oakland – Kamaiyah’s hometown – during the Red Cup tour. Though many fans wouldn’t have expected her to appear on stage, YG brought her out. From there, he made it clear that he has nothing but love for Kamaiyah.

“I swear to God, I don’t know what they know, I don’t know what they heard about — on the blogs they read, I don’t know nothing,” YG said. “But I love you. Come give me a hug.” Kamaiyah embraced YG, and replied, “I love you too. From the Bay to L.A., goddamn it!” Afterward, they leaped into their record, “Fuck It Up” and the crowd undoubtedly ate it up.

“They asked if I would come to Oakland, etc., and I was going home to get my hair braided for Grammy weekend, so it worked out,” she explained to The Shade Room. From there, the two joined forces on stage for the first time in years. Not only was it a major moment for Oakland but for rap fans across the world.

She added that YG apologized during the performance while reiterating that they’re family. “We’re like brother and sister, have the same management, etc. We were just going thru a public family quarrel because we severed business ties, that’s all, lol,” she added. After the show, she said she returned to YG’s imprint on her Instagram Story. She later clarified that she was just joking, though apparently, there have been discussions.

During an interview with Uproxx in 2020, Kamaiyah explained that she wanted an apology from YG. “There was some things said that until you rectify and apologize, I feel like, ‘What’s the point in me having a conversation?’” she said. “‘Cause then, I’m pacifying your actions. And me being a woman and a queen that stand on my word I felt like you gotta be a man and stand on yours and apologize for some off the things that was said and done.”

Kamaiyah’s Confident ‘Champagne Tears’ Single Finds Her Refocused

Kamaiyah enjoyed a prolific 2022, capped off in December with her seven-track Keep It Lit EP. The Oakland rapper dropped “Champagne Tears” today, January 27, to maintain momentum.

“I’m focusing on dropping more consistently and not looking at that numbers,” Kamaiyah tweeted ahead of the song’s arrival. “This the first time I’ve been able to just have fun and put out cool sh*t that I actually f*ck wit.”

And she definitely seems at ease through “Champagne Tears” — effortlessly packing several strong messages into just over two minutes of run time. “The money ain’t a thing / I’m sippin’ champagne through the pain,” Kamaiyah raps over a hypnotic, laid back beat. “No, the tears won’t fall down my eyes.”

Elsewhere in the song, Kamaiyah addresses enduring various forms of loss, including leaving her previous label, but her confidence is far from lacking: “I remain ’cause I still got sauce, b*tch / Want me to fall, but I won’t though / Rapper turned mogul / About to take this sh*t and go global / Got the rap game in a chokehold.”

In 2020, Kamaiyah addressed her departure from YG’s 4Hunnid Records and wished to received an apology from YG.

“It’s just like, I’m not gon’ flourish here,” she said, in part. “If I stay here, I’m not gon’ ever be what I’m supposed to be and reach my maximum. This ain’t a fit for me. It ain’t what I envisioned myself being.”

She seems to be flourishing now.

Kamaiyah Floats On Melodic New Single “Thru The Week”

Oakland artist Kamaiyah is back with a hot new single fresh on the heels of her latest EP Keep It Lit. With an upbeat chorus and equally catchy lyrics, “Thru The Week” is giving fans exactly what they need to bring in the new year.

Kamaiyah’s cover art for the track features the 30-year-old cheesing and holding two phones while having her makeup applied.

The rapper initially made a name for herself in the hip-hop scene after dropping her debut mixtape A Good Night in the Ghetto in 2016. The following year, Kamaiyah was listed as a member of XXL’s Freshman Class. Her accompanying freestyle currently boasts over one million views on YouTube.

After collaborating with YG on “Why You Always Hatin?” and signing with the Compton rapper’s 4Hunnid record label, she eventually revealed that she felt “miserable” there and accused the label of pushing back a past project.

Severing ties with 4Hunnid, Kamaiyah went on to create her own record label, GRND.WRK, INC.

In a sit-down with Flaunt Magazine in 2021, Kamaiyah revealed that, as an artist, she’d much rather vent and express herself through music instead of running to tell social media about her business.

“That’s what I feel the music is for. We’ve gotten into a time now because everything’s so digital, everybody feels they have to explain themselves on social media. That’s what they try to force you to believe. Personally to me, that’s what the artistry’s for,” she stated.

“That’s what it’s created for, these platforms we have for music is diluting the game,” Kamaiyah continued, adding, “All of that social media shit, Twitter and Instagram, a n*gga will go there and explain some shit that they could’ve put in a song. What better way than the music if you’re an artist? That’s how I look at it.”
