Joe Budden Suggests Beyoncé Fans Thought “Renaissance” Was “Mid”

It’s an album that has prompted a highly-anticipated worldwide tour, but Joe Budden claims Beyoncé fans think Renaissance is “mid.” The Hip Hop commentator cracked a few jokes about Drake fans having to “get low” or duck out of sight because he released a “mid” album. During the conversation, he quipped that Bey’s fans know what it’s like because they felt the same way about Renaissance.

“Do you know how tough it was for us Drake fans to go get low for a few months,” Budden said in the clip. “If you don’t, you can just ask the Beyoncé fans right now. Maybe y’all don’t see when the fans collectively go get low, but I do. One of the best in the world, we can’t pop our sh*t, ’cause y’all tellin’ us it’s mid at every turn. Every week, n*ggas asking, ‘Oh, you heard some of that sh*t outside? ‘Cause I haven’t!’ That sh*t was like a stab in the heart.”

Renaissance is Beyoncé’s first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade. It arrived with an epic rollout and dominated the charts—and nightclubs—across the globe. Beyoncé, her team, and her hitmaking collaborators were praised for interpolating Black house, techno, electronic, and dance artists who helped pioneer the genres but were often overlooked. It wasn’t the quintessential R&B-Pop record that people expected, but her core fanbase seemed to understand the message.

The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and this weekend, we’ll learn if it takes home the title at the Grammys. Renaissance is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Dance Electronic Album. These accolades don’t seem lost on Budden, who hopped into The Neighborhood Talk’s comment section to clarify. They shared the clip of his comments on Renaissance, and Instagram users quickly called him out.

Joe Budden Questions Gucci Mane’s Artists Always Being In Trouble

There has been a string of unfortunate luck for Gucci Mane and his 1017 artists. Gucci has established himself as a Rap icon and he developed his label to help other artists get their taste of the good life. However, in recent years, there has been one headline after another about tragedies befalling his rappers. Joe Budden tackled the touchy topic on his podcast by addressing the discussions about Gucci’s purported bad luck.

“Who people are signing, how people are signing them, and why people are signing them needs to be under thorough examination from all parties involved in the music business,” Budden stated.

He also mentioned the sports world and how changes were made when a string of injuries were reported.

“Studies and new science showed the game was affecting players’ bodies differently,” burden continued. “So, they started coming up with these new theories, like shortening the season or making the playoffs shorter or whatever they was doing.”

“The same thing has happened in rap in the last decade where we have never seen this many people die. We’ve never seen this many shootings, stabbings, clique beef, arrests, RICOs. I have never seen it in Hip Hop.”

Most recently, Gucci has been at odds with the relatives of his rapper Big Scarr. It was reported the 22-year-old died of an accidental drug overdose.

In addition to Scarr’s passing, several 1017 artists have faced legal troubles. Mac Critter was recently arrested on first-degree murder charges, and Foogiano was hit with five years in prison. Pooh Shiesty received five years for a firearm charge, and Hotboy Wes was also arrested in connection to a robbery.

Budden spoke on the “death of A&R” and the “death of musicianship.”

“A whole roster that is suffering,” he said. “And I don’t think it’s coincidence anymore.” Additionally, “It don’t matter that one of them made a good song. And now, it done sold however many million or made however many millions.”

“If n*ggas don’t have the information, if n*ggas don’t really know how to move in this space… Life expectancy for rappers is short already. For me, as a rapper, it’s scary as sh*t out there right now.”

Joe Budden Reacts To Being Shouted Out In “Abbott Elementary”

Joe Budden is one of the most recognizable figures in hip-hop culture. He was never quite the most popular rapper in the game while he was active, but he was a prominent member of Slaughterhouse. His 2003 hit, “Pump It Up” is certainly the most successful track of his career.

He retired from the rap game in 2018 and his last full-length release came in the form of 2016’s Rage & The Machine. Ever since then, Budden has found continuous success as a broadcaster for various platforms. Regardless, the 42-year-old continues to maintain his relevance in society.

ABC‘s sitcom show, Abbot Elementary, shouts out the “Pump It Up” rapper in a bit from one of their recent episodes, “Read-A-Thon.” Airing on Wednesday (January 4), the episode is part of the series’ second season.

The scene showcases one of the show’s students educating his teacher on who Joe Budden is while in the school’s new podcasting club. The teacher, who’s played by Chris Perfetti, brings up “the podfather.” “Oh, you mean Joe Budden,” the student replies. “I think he pronounces it Biden, but we will work on diction when the mics are hot,” says Mr. Hill in response.

The kid subsequently reveals that it’s shocking he’s never heard of the former Slaughterhouse rapper. He plays the prof a clip from The Joe Budden Podcast, but Mr. Hill is appalled by the explicit language.

“Joe is a star. It’s ok to admit. He made broadcasting cool. We changed the game forever. #AbbottElementary,” says Budden’s manager, Ian Schwartzman in a tweet.

One fan took to their Twitter account to publicly acknowledge the show’s mention of Budden. “Not the Podfather @JoeBudden on Abbot Elementary,” writes the fan, along with a couple of emojis crying with laughter. “Nah don’t gas me.. i love that show lol,” the 42-year-old replies back. Evidently, he’s loving the shout-out.

Joe Budden Reacts To ‘Podfather’ Shoutout In Abbot Elementary

Joe Budden Joins Patreon As Head of Creator Equity

Joe Budden is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in podcasting and has heavily impacted the landscape of the medium for years to come. In a new episode of Abbot Elementary, the “Podfather” was shouted out in a scene where one of the teachers, Mr. Hill, told one of his students that he had never heard of the “Pump It Up” rapper. The student then shows Mr. Hill a clip from the podcast full of bleeps, responding “Woah! I’m not sure how Mr. Budden’s mother would feel about that podcast.”

Joe Budden, who has expressed his love for the show in the past, was quite appreciative of the shoutout. In a post on Instagram, Budden shared the clip of his shoutout, along with a caption that read, “First of all y’all already know how i feel about @quintab and this show…….. secondly, thank you. 🙏🏾🔥#Abbottelementary #Podfather

Budden also responded to fans on Twitter who saw the shoutout as well. “Nah don’t gas me.. i love that show lol,” he Tweeted in response to a fan. “That’s [fire],” he said in a follow up tweet.

Joe Budden Says He Wants To See Rick Ross Vs. T.I. “Verzuz” Battle

Verzuz battles continue to be a heavily debated topic within the hip-hop and R&B world. There’s always discourse among fans online about which two artists should face each other next. However, we’ve only seen some of them come to fruition.

Regardless, there have certainly been a number of memorable battles over the past few years, including Jeezy and Gucci’s historic showdown, as well as T-Pain vs. Lil Jon.

In a recent episode of his own show, The Joe Budden Podcast, the “Pump It Up” rapper says he thinks Rick Ross and T.I. should square off next.

“I’m down for the person that we’ve seen already, that won.. alright, next battle. Rick Ross versus T.I.,” the media personality starts off. He goes on to say that the “Whatever You Like” rapper has never participated in one and he thinks Rozay won in his previous showdown with 2 Chainz. Therefore, according to Budden, the “Hustlin’” rapper should move on to face a new opponent.

“And Ross [has] got more than 40 records that he could play with, so now [he’s] back with a different 20. Or ‘John’ in front of T.I. looks different than ‘John’ in front of 2 Chainz. Like, I don’t think Ross will have time for the strippers to come out against T.I. It won’t be time for massages, speeches.. that’s T.I.” he continues afterwards.

The aforementioned Rick Ross vs. 2 Chainz battle went down in 2020. Budden obviously thinks that the “Aston Martin Music” rapper came out on top and should face a new opponent. “There’s a few people that won that I think need to come back and do it again,” says the former Everyday Struggle co-host. The suggestion certainly seems like a good idea and it will be interesting to see reactions pour in on social media.

Claudia Jordan Responds to Joe Budden’s Podcast Diss: ‘He Should Drink Some Milk’

Claudia Jordan Responds to Joe Budden’s Podcast Diss: 'He Should Drink Some Milk'

The back and forth between Joe Budden, Vivica A. Fox, and Claudia Jordan is continuing. A day after Joe Budden blasted both Fox Soul hosts on the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Jordan has replied in Instagram comments.

“Wow, he’s upset,” she wrote. “He should drink some milk.”

Joe Budden has been under fire for comments made about Megan Thee Stallion on a recent episode of his podcast.

During her Fox Soul show, Cocktails with Queens, Vivica A. Fox came to Megan’s defense and told Joe Budden, “if you don’t button it up and sit your bitch ass down!” Fox would go on to speak to the facts of the trial while also stating Joe Budden is mad because women rule over rap now.

Fox’s co-host, Claudia Jordan, also chimed in, “If you want to talk about somebody doing something bad to someone your friends with, maybe you’re not the one to say that.” Jordan would go on to detail his alleged domestic violence and his beef with Rory and Mal.

“The last time you had a hit, it was hitting a woman,” Jordan said.

Joe Budden heard their words and pulled up the resumes of both Jordan and Vivica A. Fox, telling both women to “shut the fuck up.”

“Vivica Fox, once regarded as the Black woman that all America wanted to be with, just so we clear on that, a long fall from grace,” Budden said. “You bitches don’t know how to usefully use your pussy broth is the problem. Be very careful with how you continue to speak about me.”

You can hear it from Budden below.

Joe Budden Apologized To Megan The Stallion Over His ‘Careless’ Jokes About Her Mental Health

Even Joe Budden admits he can go too far sometimes. The media personality and former rapper offered Megan The Stallion an apology after making harsh comments about the Houston rhymer’s recent statements regarding how the trial against Tory Lanez has affected her.

On the latest episode of Budden’s podcast, the host admits he might have stuck his foot in his mouth when he offered his thoughts about Megan. In the episode prior, Budden talked about his contempt for the “Savage” rapper, revealing he had seen her do ” horrible things” to some “really great people.”

“I’m biased,” he said on the broadcast. “You can’t just treat my friends, and people I f*ck with, and people I’ve seen in this game for 15 years a certain way.”

But to be clear, Budden noted his disdain for Megan had nothing to do with her involvement in the Tory Lanez trial. Either way, his message didn’t go over too well. After receiving tons of backlash on social media, Budden said he received “a few phone calls” from some “women he respects” and now realizes the error of his ways.

“I’m apologizing for the careless manner in which I joked about her mental health,” he said in a clip posted to The Shade Room. “That didn’t sit right with my soul and my spirit. Because whether you believe her or don’t believe her, can you afford to be wrong? And the answer is no.”

Budden says he “would not feel right if that girl went home and she did something to herself” and doesn’t want to add to the “Meg hate train going on across social media.”

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Joe Budden Says Rappers Should Have To Take A “Hip-Hop SAT Test” Before Signing Record Deal

Joe Budden has never been afraid to speak his mind on any topic within the music industry.

As a result, the media personality has continually seen himself in some controversial headlines.

His most recent comments arrived while making an appearance on the Earn Your Leisure podcast. The “Pump It Up” rapper believes that new rappers shouldn’t get signed solely based on their musical talents. According to him, labels should be requiring up-and-coming artists to additionally take a hip-hop SAT test.

Many artists, especially in today’s fast-paced world, see offers from record labels after one viral song or snippet. However, the former Everyday Struggle host says they should also have to showcase their knowledge about the industry.

“I’ve always felt like there needs to be, like, a hip-hop SAT test that you take before you can get a record deal. Some of you n****s gotta answer some questions, like ‘how do you hold a microphone?’ They’re some of the bare basics you gotta know. If everybody just know everything, with no consequence, with no trial and error, then everybody’s just doing the same sh*t,” suggests the 42-year-old.

The comment comes in response to him and the podcast’s hosts discussing the over-saturation of both the podcast and music industry.

In other recent news surrounding the media personality, he’s been engaging in some heated exchanges with actress Vivica A. Fox. This has been a result of him dissing Megan Thee Stallion while she’s going through the trial for Tory Lanez’s alleged shooting over two years ago.

The Independence Day actress subsequently took aim at the 42-year-old, telling him to “sit your b*tch ass down.” “Y’all mad ’cause the girls right now is ruling in rap. It’s just driving y’all crazy that the sisters is just ruling,” she clapped back.

What do you think of Budden’s most recent comments? Should newer artists have to take something like his “hip-hop SAT test” before signing a deal in the industry? Leave your thoughts in the comments down below.

Claudia Jordan Reacts After Joe Budden Tells Her To “Shut The F*ck Up”

Claudia Jordan’s made an enemy out of Joe Budden after the podcast host faced backlash for criticizing Megan Thee Stallion.

In the past two weeks, we’ve watched the Tory Lanez trial unfold with testimony from Megan Thee Stallion, Kelsey Nicole, and eyewitnesses. On one of the latest episodes of his podcast, Joe wound up dragging Meg for allegedly mistreating some of his industry friends. Ultimately, this landed on the radar of Cocktails With Queens co-hosts, Claudia Jordan and Vivica A. Fox, who had a lot to say about Joe.

“If you want to talk about somebody doing something bad to someone your friends with, maybe you’re not the one to say that,” she said before bringing up allegations of domestic abuse and Budden’s falling out with Rory and Mal.

Ultimately, this led to Budden trashing both Claudia and Fox on the latest episode of his podcast. Though his rant largely targeted Vivica A. Fox, he still had smoke for Jordan.

“Claudia Jordan, shut the fuck up. You got to shut the fuck up. It could get bad,” he said. “I will book that entire Fox old hoes show for $75.99. You bitches better leave me alone.”

Word got back to Claudia but she doesn’t seem too offended by Joe’s rant. Instead, she provided a solution.

“Wow, he” seems upset’s upset,” she wrote. “He should drink some milk.”

While Joe might have issues with the FOX Soul hosts, he did offer an apology to Megan Thee Stallion for his initial comments.

“I’m apologizing for the careless manner in which I joked about her mental health. That didn’t sit right with my soul and my spirit,” he said. “But that’s not funny because whether you believe her or don’t believe her, can you afford to be wrong? And the answer is no. I would not feel right if that girl went home and did something to herself ’cause then I would just be a part of the pile-on. And there is seemingly a Meg hate train going on across socials.”

Joe Budden Denies Being Bisexual Or Gay Following Fizz Remarks

Comments made on The Joe Budden Podcast thrust the podcaster into a viral moment. For years, there have been rumors that Joe Budden was bisexual, and with each allegation, he trolls the masses. The former rapper is happily in love with his girlfriend, yet still, his sexuality is regularly called into question. This was recently reignited after Budden spoke about Lil Fizz’s controversy over an alleged nude leak.

“Aye, Lil Fizz, you’re lucky I ain’t see this news sooner,” he said on his podcast. “I would have started with this one, buddy. But this why I’ma fight y’all, ’cause y’all have eyes and know some of this is funny. If this n*gga got his ass tooted up in the air on OnlyFans, somebody need to know about that.”

Additionally, he added, “Do I like skinny people? Lil Fizz too small for me. I’d break that lil’ boy. I’d have fizz coming out of Fizz, man. Get this n*gga outta here.”

It was all delivered with a roar of laughter, but the internet quickly shared the clip. Soon, Budden found himself a trending topic, and he returned to make a few things clear.

“I am not gay or bisexual,” he further stated. “I want to apologize—I’m flattered!… Y’all think y’all was flirting with me. I took it as disrespect.” Budden then relived a few conversations he’s had since making his statements on Fizz.

“I’m not playin’ with you. Y’all n*ggas is aggressive. Y’all tall. It’s over now, yo, it’s over. Enough! No more jokey-jokes. Big ass gay dudes. Big as hell in my DMs.”

As he’s been fighting off people sliding in his DMs, Budden has also gone to verbal war with Vivica Fox and Claudia Jordan. After saying he doesn’t like Megan Thee Stallion, Fox and Jordan called him out. He returned the favor and didn’t hold back.

However, he also apologized to Megan for joking about her mental health.
