Sidem Ozturk Reveals Why She Moved To Jamaica Before Vybz Kartel Was Released

Sidem Ozturk may have chastised her fiancée when he flirted with fans online, but she’s still very dedicated to Vybz Kartel. Moreover, she recently joined Gucci Mane’s wife Keyshia Ka’oir for a new interview, during which Ka’oir asked Ozturk why she moved to Jamaica even before Kartel was released from prison. As you can see from the clip below, Gucci’s girl was pretty shocked and even perhaps impressed at this show of loyalty.

“I didn’t think about [if Vybz Kartel wouldn’t be released],” Sidem Ozturk revealed. “That was not an option. […] Honestly, [my family] didn’t know at first. *laughs* They didn’t know at first. It was just, like, he asked me to come. And then from there, it was just, how can I say no? And then my family, I’ve never lived apart from my family. So it was a bit – they didn’t really know how deep it was. I didn’t really tell anyone except for my friends how deep it really was. And then, I just, I couldn’t say no. And I just flew out, and my mom later found out that I flew out for him.

Sidem Ozturk Flew Out For Vybz Kartel Before His Release

“So you’re persistent,” Keyshia Ka’oir told Sidem Ozturk when she began telling her Vybz Kartel story. “This is what you call faith, guys. Like, you are filled with faith. Like, ‘I’m moving to Jamaica. This is going to be my man, and he’s coming out of prison, and can’t nobody stop me.’” Of course, fans most likely know at this point how much Ozturk and Kartel have professed their love for one another on social media. It’s been quite wholesome to witness, especially when paired up with his return to live performances and releasing more music.

Meanwhile, Vybz Kartel recently gave fans another health update. For those unaware, he suffers from an auto-immune disorder known as Graves’ disease, which has affected his heart condition. The dancehall singer said he’s feeling better and talking to some of the best doctors in Cuba, Jamaica, and St. Vincent. Also, he’s in the process of getting a visa in order to receive more treatment in the United States.

Shenseea Provides Aid to Hurricane Beryl Victims in Jamaica

This weekend, GRAMMY® Award-nominated international Jamaican pop star Shenseea returned to her hometown of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to assist those severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Jamaica was particularly hard-hit, with at least seven fatalities reported and nearly 500 residents displaced.

Shenseea and Major Marketing, Honey Bun Ja, Lasco iCool Water, Grace Foods, Digicel, LP Azar, and Stoplight Wholesale mobilized to support her fellow Jamaicans during this crisis. Accompanied by her son, Rajeiro Lee, Shenseea visited St. Elizabeth, one of Jamaica’s largest parishes, distributing essential tarpaulins and food packages to 300 residents.

The artist connected with families affected by the hurricane, offering encouragement and solidarity. Her efforts served as a beacon of hope for those impacted, earning her a special commendation from Jamaican Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley for her kindness.

Shenseea’s initiative highlights the importance of community support and resilience in natural disasters. Her presence and contributions provided much-needed relief and upliftment to the residents of St. Elizabeth during this challenging time.

Sean Paul Claims Chance Encounter Led To Classic Beyonce Collab

2003 was a breakthrough year for both Sean Paul and Beyonce. Both artists landed their first number one singles, and then they linked up for the joint number one, “Baby Boy.” It was an inspired blend of pop and dancehall, but the origins of the sang actually date back several years. Sean Paul talked about the hit single during a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter. He revealed that his friendship with Queen Bey started during her days in Destiny’s Child.

Sean Paul told the outlet that he got a chance to meet Beyonce during the late 1990s. “She opened on a show here in Jamaica with Destiny’s Child,” he recalled. “They only had one song, and I was on that same show. That’s where we all met.” The two artists had similar tastes in music, but Sean Paul was pleasantly surprised when Beyonce reached out for a collab on her debut solo album. “Knowing she called me back a couple of years later for her first solo project was awesome,” he admitted. Paul wrote the bulk of “Baby Boy” with Beyonce, and praised the singer for embracing dancehall sounds.

Sean Paul Praised Beyonce’s Musical Ambition

Sean Paul told THR that hip-hop artists were always interested in dancehall, but was impressed that a pop star like Beyonce would take a chance on such a different sound. “At the time, people were hollering at me to do collabs,” the reggae artist noted. “I was working with Busta Rhymes, I was doing stuff with Clipse and Blu Cantrell—and all of those things were very dope but they were more Hip-Hop oriented. This was such a big artist, and she was stepping out on her own.” Beyonce’s instincts proved dead on. “Baby Boy” was a smash hit that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks. It would be Beyonce’s biggest hit until 2007, and Paul’s biggest hit ever.

Eclecticism is part of Beyonce’s image in 2024. She’s dabbled in dance, country, and just about every genre you can name. Still, she holds a special place in her heart for dancehall. She based much of her classic 2018 performance at Coachella on dancehall and Jamaican culture. She covered the standard “Still in Love with You Boy” by Marcia Aiken, and performed “Baby Boy” before a screaming audience. Paul is still extremely proud of the song. “It made sense to me,” he concluded. “And it made history for both of us.”

Vybz Kartel Denied Bail By Supreme Court In Jamaica, Murder Charge Still Pending

JamaicanAppealCourtDeniesVybzKartel'sMotionforMurderConviction

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel and two of his three co-accused will remain behind bars after a judge rejected the habeas corpus application submitted by their attorneys Thursday.

Supreme Court Justice Andrea Thomas ruled that in the absence of a verdict of acquittal by the Privy Council the charge of murder remains in effect for Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, and his co-accused Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell and Andre St John.

In declaring that their present custodial status is not in breach of the constitution, Justice Thomas told a packed court room at the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston that, “In view of the fact that their appeal is not yet determined they should remain in custody until their appeal is concluded.

“That is until a verdict of acquittal is entered or there is a decision for a retrial,” Thomas said.

The ruling comes after an intense court battle to determine whether Kartel and the two men were being illegally detained by the state. Attorney for the men, Isat Buchanan, argued in submissions that “a conviction must exist for there to be authority to detain” the men.

Meanwhile, state attorneys argued that the quashing of the convictions by the Privy Council in March did not equate to an acquittal and only reverted the men to their pretrial status with murder charges that are still “live”. The defense lawyers had on May 13 filed a writ of habeas corpus application seeking their clients’ release, arguing that there was no order by the Apex Court for the continued detention of their clients and as such they should be released.

The defence lawyers had on May 13 filed a writ of habeas corpus application seeking their clients’ release, arguing that there was no order by the Apex Court for the continued detention of their clients and as such they should be released.

The Privy Council’s ruling followed an appeal made in February by lawyers representing the then-convicts, who argued various grounds, including the admissibility of telecommunication evidence, allegations of jury misconduct, and pressure on the jury to reach a verdict.

Since the ruling, the artiste has remained in prison. Shortly after, Kartel questioned the need for a retrial in his statement to Fox 5 News, saying, “I feel victorious in this very moment as the Privy Council, in their infinite wisdom, understood the assignment and remedied the situation by quashing my conviction! I am now back to being an innocent man in the eyes of the law. A grave injustice was done to me and my co-accused in the original trial… and my cries were heard in the land’s highest court.”

Baddies East Fans Want Rollie Off The Show

However, the show’s drama isn’t only limited to the weekly episodes. A fan petition has emerged online, demanding the removal of cast member Rollie Pollie. Rollie is a divisive figure, known for her no-holds-barred attitude during physical confrontations with other cast members. At the time of writing, the Change.org petition has been signed over 80,000. With nearly 55,000 signatures on January 6 alone, it’s likely that fans were spurred by the latest episode trailer.

An earlier petition, that only received around 400 signatures, gave some fan reasoning as to why Rollie should be removed. Quavo Shares Some Vacation Snaps From Jamaica, Joins Popcaan On Stage

For many people, December is about cold weather during the holiday season. But somebody must have forgotten to tell Quavo, who is on vacation somewhere looking much warmer. The former Migos rapper took to Instagram to share some photos of his vacation in Jamaica. “on an island but this ain’t Gullah Gullah” he captioned the post. Included in the snaps is one picture of the rapper on stage sporting some of the country’s colors.

That performance came alongside Popcaan at the country’s Unruly Fest. Though the two have never officially collaborated on record, they traverse similar rap circles and most fans weren’t surprised to see them cross paths. One thing that did surprise fans is the somewhat mild reception that Quavo seemed to receive while on stage. “Do they know him down in Jamaica,” one of the top comments on the post asks. “Is like when a overseas artist arrives in Jamaica popcaan is the first person they linking,” another commentor joked. Check out the post Quavo made and videos of his performance below.

Quavo’s Jamaican Vacation

Before Quavo hit up Jamaica, he was in Japan. He shared plenty of updates from his time there including honing his karate skills with a lesson. Additionally, he encountered a street performer in some kind of market playing the flute. The rapper enjoyed his performance so much that he bought a flute of his own. He could be the next to follow fellow Atlanta rap artist Andre 3000 who recently released an ambient jazz album that prominently features him playing the flute.

Quavo released his new album Rocket Power earlier this year. It was his first new album since 2018’s Quavo Huncho. The project was, in part, a tribute to his fellow Migos rapper Takeoff who was tragically murdered last year. The project featured two verses from Takeoff on some of its fan favorite tracks. The two frequent collaborators even teamed up for an entire collaborative album last year called Only Built For Infinity Links. What do you think of Quavo performing alongside Popcaan while in Jamaica? Do you think he received an underwhelming reception from the crowd? Let us know in the comment section below.

Quavo Joins Popcaan At Unruly Fest In Jamaica

Quavo made a surprise appearance at Unruly Fest in Jamaica, stepping out with Popcaan for the latter’s set. The crowd was understandably overjoyed to see the former Migos rapper step out. However, not everyone was a fan of the appearance. “American artists always go to Jamaica and dress like it’s Independence Day 😂😂😂 , but big up unnu self 🙌❤ 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲,” one person said on Instagram.

However, things got a little too unruly at Unruly Fest as the cops pulled the plug on the festival early, citing safety concerns. According to senior police officers, they had let the show run on a hour longer than the festival’s permit. However, Popcaan, who also organizes Unruly Fest, had some harsh words for the cops. In a statement about the abrupt shut down, Popcaan said that things like shut were the reason that St. Thomas “couldn’t do better”.

Quavo Steps Out For Surprise NYC Concert

Quavo has been making plenty of surprise appearances this year. He drew a massive crowd in the center of New York City as the former Migos rapper pulled up for an impromptu concert. The Atlanta rapper is in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week but decided to make some headlines away from the runways. In a clip uploaded to social media, Quavo could be heard performing “Hotel Lobby” to the assembled crowd. Furthermore, the concert appears to come courtesy of SideTalk NYC, the viral “one-minute street interview” show.

Fans were overjoyed by the surprise concert. Additionally, many were surprised (and excited) to see that True Religion, Quavo’s fashion line, may be making a return. “If you stopped wearing Tru because rappers did you corny 😂😂😂,” one person said. “Damn… true religion back??? I just roasted a Walmart worker for ….. nvm… Go crazy,” added another. However, some people pointed out the double standard that Quavo could do this and be fine but Kai Cenat was arrested for “the same thing”. On this note – the Quavo concert was probably planned, while the Cenat giveaway was not. Meanwhile, people were not fully rioting at Quavo’s concert.

Chris Brown Jumps From A Waterfall In Jamaica

Chris Brown recently ventured to the Caribbean for a major performance at BZR weekend. The multi-day event takes place in Kingston, Jamaica and features performances from various artists, with Brown closing the weekend. The Virginia-born performer landed in the island’s capital earlier this week, and has since been sure to make the most of his trip.

He was spotted enjoying himself at a club earlier this weekend, vibing to some music while surrounded by friends. It looks like he’s also been pretty adventurous as of late, based on another clip. In the clip, Brown is seen preparing to jump off of a waterfall, clinging on to a couple of people who appear to be assisting him. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, but eventually committed to the jump. Some social media users are clowning him for looking a bit shaky amid the leap, but others can’t blame him for being careful.

I’m coming home, it’s gonna be a movie, performing all the hits.”
