The Drake Curse Won Again After The Rapper Lost $500,000 Thanks To Israel Adesanya’s UFC Loss

The so-called “Drake Curse” may have a less consistent hit-to-miss ratio than its namesake, but when it does hit, it hits HARD. This is especially when the target is Drake’s pocketbook, which is a half-million bucks lighter thanks to the big bet he placed on Israel Adesanya’s UFC 293 match against Sean Strickland. Drake shared his bet — courtesy, as always, of Stak, with which the rapper signed a $100 million/year endorsement deal in 2022 — on Instagram, boasting the potential $920k payout it would have netted with a win.

Unfortunately for both Drake and Adesanya, the Kiwi kickboxer was upset by Strickland on a 49-46 judges’ decision. Adesanya’s MMA record now stands at 24-3, delivering just his second loss by judges’ decision. He also lost the UFC Middleweight Championship belt.

Meanwhile, the Drake Curse has a more inconsistent record; in June, Drake won over $2 million backing the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals after losing around $350,000 betting on the University of Connecticut in the NCAA National Tournament. Meanwhile, his bet on Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup paid out $2,750,000 on a million-dollar bet. You know what they say: You win some, you lose some. Drake’s seen things play out both ways in his betting career, but this writer would be willing to bet that things turn around for both him and Adesanya before too long.

Israel Adesanya Promises To Break Sean Strickland’s Jaw If He Talks In The Ring During UFC 293 Fight

There’s certainly no love lost between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland. The two men are due to face off in the headline fight of UFC 293 on September 10, with Adesanya seeking to defend his middleweight belt. Of course, the pair have traded barbs back and forth in the run-up to the bout. However, it appears that Adesanya is tired of Strickland running his mouth.

“I do wanna shut him up and I’m gonna shut him up. I’m gonna break his jaw if he keeps talkin’ to me while he’s in there, trust. When you’re talkin’, you never know when a shot’s coming, the jab can hit you while your mouth open and send your jaw to the back of your head,” Adesanya told TMZ. “[Sean] should just thank me. He got his passport, he got the fight, he gets to travel out of the country for the first time, actually see the world instead of being a fucking hillbilly and yeah, he should thank me. Should really appreciate the fact that I got him the opportunity and he’s gonna get paid, he can buy his boat and then he can fuck off and make other opportunities,” he continued.

Adesanya Headlines UFC’s Return To Australia

UFC 293 is the first event to be held in Australia since 2017. For Adesanya, it will be his seventh title defense fight, but his first since reclaiming the belt at UFC 287. Stylebender briefly lost the belt to Alex Periera at UFC 281 in 2022 but won it back in the rematch in April of this year. However, Strickland wasn’t the first choice for this fight. Adesanya was meant to fight Dricus du Plessis, the South African fighter that he has been publicly beefing with for most of this year. However, with du Plessis injured, the fifth-ranked Strickland was subbed in.

“Do I think he deserves it? I think he’s been in there long enough to earn it. To step in there with me, my ego says no. My ego says we’re levels above. He knows it. I know but he knows he still has a chance of winning this fight. I just have to make sure it’s the minimalist chance ever. That’s my job. “I know he’s dangerous because a man with everything to gain and nothing to lose is a fucking dangerous man but I have a habit of making dangerous men look easy,” Adesanya said when asked if Strickland deserved the title shot.

Stephen A. Smith Gives “Props” To Israel Adesanya For Vanessa Hudgens Thirst

Vanessa Hudgens has had a very notable career. After gaining mainstream success in High School Musical, Hudgens quickly went beyond the DCOM label. She’s done romance, action, true crime. She was even a pony in My Little Pony. Regardless, Hudgens is a very talented, very versatile actress. Coming up this weird, she has a documentary about witchcraft in Salem as well as an adaptation of the novel Downtown Owl. Furthermore, she is currently filming a travel documentary, a film called French Girl, and a reprisal of her role in the Bad Boys franchise for the upcoming fourth film.

Hudgens is also very much a snacc, just an undeniably attractive human being. She is reportedly engaged to Colorado Rockies shortstop Cole Tucker. She previously dated Austin Butler (Dune, Elvis) for eight years. Regardless, on July 11, Daily Loud posted a poolside picture of Hudgens in a pink bikini. Twitter went wild over it. However, the picture really started to circulate when UFC champion Israel Adesanya quote-tweeted the photo with the addition “We all in this together” followed by a prayer hands emoji. Enter Stephen A. Smith.

Stephen A. Shares Vanessa Hudgens Thirst

Smith addressed Adesanya’s tweet on the most recent episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. “Israel Adesayna, props to him for the greatest tweet of the day,” Smith began. So Vanessa Hudgens, you know – actress – you know, does good work. I’m a fan of her work. Some people are just a fan of hers. And when you see this photo of her, those of you who are a fan of hers and not just her work, it makes perfect sense, as you can see in that photo. But forget the photo. It’s the tweet that accentuated it in a beautiful way. Israel Adesayna, the defending middleweight champion of the world in the UFC, simply retweeted it and said, quote “We all in this together.” That was a beautiful quote. I got to give it to. That was a beautiful one. That really, really was.”

First of all, HotNewHipHop has reached out to Smith because “I’m a fan of her work” is not something that can be left without a follow-up. However, let’s be real for a second. In a world that this reporter has referred to as a “puritanical hellscape” on multiple occasions in recent days, it’s great to see people being respectfully horny on main. None of this weird purity discourse or complete ignorance about the sex industry works. Just people being proud to thirst online. Nature is truly healing.

Mark Zuckerberg Training With Israel Adesanya, Alex Volkanovski

Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk is quickly becoming the tech bro fight of the century. UFC President Dana White is overseeing the cage match between the Founder of SpaceX/Twitter owner and the CEO/Founder of Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Now, fighting superstars are getting into the mix, offering to help the two amateur fighters get into solid shape. While controversial figure Andrew Tate has offered to train Elon Musk and Jon “Bones” Jones offered his training services to Mark Zuckerberg, Mark has taken a different training route.

Zuck has been seen training with UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya and UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski. The Nigerian-New Zealander and Australian, respectively, are posing with Zuckerberg in a recent photo uploaded to Instagram via RapTV. As of this writing, Volkanovksi is number one in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings, while Adesanya is fifth. The two “trainers” make sense for Mark, who is smaller and lanky in stature. He’ll want to have kickboxing and grappling in his fighting repertoire for when he faces off against Elon.

The Hype Surrounding Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg

Everybody wants a piece of this Elon Musk-Mark Zuckerberg feud. Alexander “The Great” and “Style Bender” Adesanya are just two of the celebrities attaching their clout to the bout. According to MMAFighting.com, Dana White has a specific date in mind for the octagon rumble, saying it won’t be UFC 300, but it will closely follow. UFC 300, a marquee lineup for the sport, is set to go down in Vegas in early 2024.

While Mark Zuckerberg is spreading out his training partners, Elon Musk has been training with Georges St. Pierre and his world-famous grappling coach, John Danaher. Technically, Musk has a significant size advantage over Zuck, which is probably why Mark is tripling down on his training. As for sanctions for the fight and any hoops to jump through, Dana White isn’t too concerned. He wants this fight to happen, and any challenge will be well worth the billionaire brawl.

Logan Paul is someone who has gone through various phases of his fighting career. Overall, he started out as a YouTuber turned boxer who fought KSI in the ring. Subsequently, he fought KSI again and lost. However, he was somehow able to get himself yet another fight, against Floyd Mayweather. In the midst of this, Paul has become a mogul in the sports drink world thanks to his KSI-assisted venture, Prime. Needless to say, Logan is doing very well for himself, despite what the haters say.

The UFC is one of the biggest entities in the world at this point, and even his brother Jake has expressed interest in it. Logan Paul Trains With Izzy

In the video up above, you can actually see that it was quite the gauntlet for Logan Paul. He got to spar with Adesanya, who was quick to put him in a chokehold. Although Paul tried his hardest to get out of it, he simply couldn’t. He eventually tapped out and conceded. However, he did note that he was almost able to get out of the trap. No matter what, it is impressive that Paul would still have the bravery to go out there and get in some reps with someone who is a legend.

Legendary Training Sesh

Moving forward, there is no telling what Logan’s plans may be in MMA. It would probably take a long time for Dana White to let him fight against his combatants. Dricus Du Plessis Doubles Down After Israel Adesanya Backlash

Dricus Du Plessis has been fighting for a decade, but only recently made the jump to the UFC. 14-2 in the EFC Africa and KSW promotions, he is 5-0 since his UFC debut at Fight Night 178. While he is yet to get a title fight, it only feels like a matter of time.

However, Du Plessis has been making headlines for different reasons in recent days. At UFC 285 in March, where Du Plessis defeated Derek Brunson, the South African fighter made comments about how he and Cameron Saaiman were “African fighters” and that he would plans on taking a belt “back to the continent”. This earned the ire of the Nigerian-born, and current UFC title holder, Israel Adesanya. Adesanya, the reigning middleweight champion, expressed his desire to punish Du Plessis in the Octagon.

Du Plessis Responds to Adesanya, Fuels Fight Speculation

“I never said it wasn’t my intention,” Du Plessis told Submission Radio. “It wasn’t my intention because that’s not what I said, there was no intention involved. It was look at the facts what I said. I’ve never said the words ‘more African’ in my life. I didn’t say they were not African. I stated facts asI am the only one in title contention ever born in Africa, live in Africa, reside in Africa, and train there every single day. That was my statement. Some people say I’m backpedaling, I never backpedaled. I’m sticking with that because that is the facts. I don’t care how it came across, I care about what the fact is and what I said and that’s what I said.”

He continued, directly addressing Adesanya. “It seems to have struck a nerve with Israel Adesanya,” he continued. “It seems like he likes to be whatever fits him best considering nationalities. He’s referred to himself as a Kiwi, he’s referred to himself as Chinese, he’s referred to himself as a Nigerian. At the end of the day, he’s born in Africa, he is African but he does not reside here and that is the fact. That is what makes me and him different.” The comments have fuelled the potential for a title fight between the two men at UFC 293 in September. However, that is somewhat in doubt, given Du Plessis’ current plan to fight Robert Whittaker at UFC 290. This is a developing story and you’ll find any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Israel Adesanya’s Ex-Girlfriend Reportedly Takes Him To Court For Half His Wealth

One of the UFC and the wider mixed martial arts world’s most well-known stars just got a relationship bomb dropped on his lap. Moreover, his ex-girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell reportedly sued the fighter for half his wealth because “they dated too long and she supported his career.” As such, the little information we have of this development indicates that it’s taking shape as somewhat of a divorce case. Furthermore, fans expressed confusion and dismissal at the news, but it’s important to note that other things could’ve happened behind the scenes that we don’t know of and could paint this motion differently.

Still, this is a relatively early story and the Nigerian-New Zealander hasn’t responded to this development publicly as of writing this article. While it’s startling, it’s also too early to say how it will take shape. For those unfamiliar with Israel Adesanya, he recently reclaimed the title of UFC middleweight champion after beating rival Alex Pereira. However, that rivalry is something he cherishes. After their brawl, he remarked on what their long history means to him and gave him his due respect and flowers.

Israel Adesanya’s Ex-Girlfriend Sues Him For Half His Assets

“I love this game,” Israel Adesanya wrote on Twitter with a video of them embracing. “Nothing compares on this planet, in this life than putting it all on the line. One shot, the whole world watching… waiting… then BOOM!! HISSTORY. Our individual legends will always be intertwined because of the stories we’ve told with our beautiful violence. I’m grateful we have this rivalry, I’m grateful he beat me. It forced me to grow, made me better. Now I have done the same for him, the gift that keeps on giving… a** whoopings. Shoutout to the Warrior from Brazil Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira!”

Meanwhile, there are others that side with Powdrell in this case, if only for their dislike of the 33-year-old’s statements and personality. Regardless, it seems like quite the murky and complicated case. In the coming weeks, surely more information will come up that will further contextualize this news. Until then, UFC fans patiently wait for an update on his status or his next fight. For more on Israel Adesanya and the latest news from the MMA world, log back into HNHH.

Israel Adesanya Suffered Severe Injury Before UFC 287

Israel Adesanya regained the UFC middleweight championship. After a late knockout to Alex Pereira in their first bout, Izzy reclaimed his title in the rematch. However, everything wasn’t perfect leading up to the big rematch. Recently, Adesanya revealed that he was dealing with a major injury before the fight. On Thursday, Adesanya revealed a video of when he tore his MCL in the middle of training. The video is a tough reminder about what these fighters go through during training.

However, Adesanya fought through the pain of his injury. As he reclaimed the middleweight throne in a convincing fashion. Adesanya’s knockout of Pereira will now live forever in the UFC knockout reel. Undoubtedly this injury will further the legacy of Adesanya. Not many people would be able to continue through such an injury. However, Adesanya wasn’t going to let this injury be an excuse, no matter the outcome. Because this is the first time we are hearing about the issue. Check out the video of the incident below.

Israel Adesanya Overcomes Scary Injury

The pain on Adesanya’s face in the video makes it hard to watch. Seeing an athlete put so much time into an event. Only to have that opportunity potentially taken away is a challenging thought. However, those thoughts run through the minds of every fighter training for their next big fight. If Adesanya would have made this injury known, he wouldn’t have been cleared to fight. So this incident could have robbed Adesanya and the fans of one of the most incredible nights in UFC history.

But the injury has happened, and Adesanya is now wearing the crown. The current middleweight champ is now looking forward to his next test in the octagon. While Pereira is looking to make the move to light heavyweight. For now, it seems that Adesanya and Pereira are going their separate ways. However, something tells me there’s money to be made in another matchup. But for now, Israel Adesanya will celebrate one of the biggest moments in his professional career. For the latest news and MMA and sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

Israel Adesanya Celebrates Rivalry With Alex Pereira

Israel Adesanya overcame a massive professional demon at UFC 287. Adesanya reclaimed his middleweight crown in his rematch with Pereira. Pereira has long played the thorn in Izzy’s side, going back to their kickboxing days. Adesanya suffered a massive knockout loss to Pereira in their time as kickboxers. As well as Pereira stopping Adesanya in their first meeting inside the octagon. However, Adesanya finally finished Pereira earlier this month. The victory seemed to drop a huge load off the shoulders of Adesanaya.

However, Adesanya recently thanked Pereira for their time against one another in combat sports. The middleweight champion took to Twitter to show his respects to the former champ. “Our individual legends will always be intertwined because of the stories we’ve told with our beautiful violence. I’m grateful we have this rivalry, I’m grateful he beat me. It forced me to grow, made me better. Now I have done the same for him, the gift that keeps on giving…ass whoopings. Shoutout to the Warrior from Brazil Alex “Poatan” Pereira!

Israel Adesanya Thanks Pereira For Rivalry

Adesanya didn’t hold back his feelings shortly after the bout. The two-time middleweight champion gave an emotional speech after the bout. In the speech, Adesanya discussed what the moment meant to him. Also, Adesanya gave an excellent quote on chasing what excites you. The post-fight interview will go down as one of the most memorable to ever take place inside the octagon. Now, fans are wondering what both fighters have in store for their future in the UFC.

It seems that both have moved on from this moment in their life. Even with Pereira holding an extra win over Adesanay. Recently, Pereira announced that his next fight will take place at light-heavyweight. As for Adesanya, the middleweight champion will take on the winner of Robert Whittaker and Driscus Du Plessis. It looks like both fighters have locked into the next stage of their career. However, there could still be a rekindling of this rivalry down the road. Would you like to see Israel Adesanya take on Alex Pereira one more time? Let us know in the comment section. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

Israel Adesanya Wins UFC Middleweight Championship

Israel Adesanya just regained the title of middleweight champion at UFC 287 in a stellar match against Alex Pereira. Moreover, reactions and assessments of the brawl ran rampant on social media, with many chiming in with their favorite moments and highlights. Even Donald Trump brushed off his indictment to pop out at the event alongside Mike Tyson, Dana White, Kid Rock, and many more. Overall, it was quite the entertaining and masterful display of mixed martial arts from one of the sport’s all-time greats. Previously, the 33-year-old remarked his desires to regain his title from Pereira, which manifested into a victory.

““Pressure makes diamonds, and I’m going to shine,” Israel Adesanya said prior to the match during a press event. Clearly, he had a lot on his shoulders on top of a chip to lose, which hilariously manifested after he knocked Pereira out. Not only did he pretend to shoot arrows at his unconscious opponent, but he pointed at his son in the crowd after knocking his father out. This harkens back to a previous instance during which the kid taunted Adesanya for his loss against his dad.

Israel Adesanya Is The UFC’s Middleweight Champion

After the fight ended, a video went viral of Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira showing each other respect. Shortly after his victory, Adesanya delivered a powerful speech to those in attendance and viewers at home. “I hope every one of you behind the screens or in this arena can feel this level of happiness just one time in your life. I hope all of you can feel how f***ing happy I am just one time in your life. But guess what?

“You will never feel this level of happiness if you don’t go for something in your own life,” he continued. “When they knock you down, when they try and s**t on you, when they talk s**t about you, and they try to put their foot on your neck. If you stay down, you will never ever get that resolve. Fortify your mind and feel this level of happiness as you rise! One time in your life. But I’m blessed to be able to feel this s**t again and again and again and again and again!” Check out some notable clips from the event below and return to HNHH for the latest on middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
