RIP Fatman Scoop, Reportedly Passes Away at 53, After Collapsing on Stage

In an update to an earlier story, TMZ was first to break the news that Isaac Freeman III aka Fatman Scoop, legendary DJ and figure within the Hip Hop community, has tragically died. 

The heartbreaking revelation came from Freeman’s tour manager @itspurecold who posted on Insragram:

“I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truely made me the man I am today. Thank you so much, I love you x.”

In another post from the Reminisce Festival, an event that had Mr. Freeman III scheduled to perform just next week on Sept. 7 added:

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we at Reminisce have received the devastating news of the tragic passing of the legendary Isaac Freeman III, known to us all as Fatman Scoop. This loss has left us all heartbroken.”

Scary moment when Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, collapsed on stage during a performance at Hamden Town Centre Park. 

The incident was confirmed by Hamden mayor Lauren Garrett, who stated that Freeman was “transported by ambulance to the hospital.” Garrett added, 

“We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

This is concerning and many of Scoop’s fans not to mention the industry are collectively holding their breathe. 

There also seems to be footage circulating on social media capturing the distressing moment Freeman struggled to climb onto a platform before collapsing behind a DJ booth. 

The music was quickly stopped, and fellow performers on stage addressed the crowd.

The audience fell eerily silent. 

What’s more is some screams could be heard as CPR was administered in an attempt to revive Freeman on the scene. 

Authorities arrived at 8:33 p.m. and transported the rapper out of the venue on a stretcher. 

His current condition remains unknown, though concerned concertgoers were overheard asking if he was okay after witnessing the collapse.

As expected, fans have started flooding social media with messages of concern and support for the hip-hop hype man, who gained prominence in the early 2000s with his 2003 re-release of “Be Faithful” alongside Crooklyn Clan.

In a 2014 interview, Freeman III shared that his nickname, Fatman Scoop, was given to him by his Uncle Jack due to his love of ice cream as a child. Iconic. 

If unfamiliar, throughout his career, Freeman has collaborated with numerous artists, including Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Missy Elliott, earning critical acclaim. His feature in Missy Elliott’s 2005 hit “Lose Control” won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video and earned a nomination for Best Rap Song. That same year, he appeared on Mariah Carey’s hit single “It’s Like That” alongside Jermaine Dupri, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Hip-hop is in deep mourning. Yesterday (August 30), TMZ revealed that Fatman Scoop suffered a medical emergency onstage in Hamden, Connecticut.

Users online quickly offered their well-wishes and a speedy recovery for the legendary hype man, radio personality, and DJ. Sadly, today (August 31), the outlet has reported that Fatman Scoop (real name Isaac Freeman) died at 53 years old.

The news was seemingly confirmed by Fatman Scoop’s tour manager, Pure Cold (real name Birch Michael). In a post shared on his Instagram page (viewable here) penned a touching tribute to the musical icon.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop,” he wrote. “You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you, Scoop. Thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”

In the caption of the upload, he continued the moving note, writing: “I am honestly lost for words. You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today. Thank you so much, I love you.”

Fatman Scoop was a titan in the New York City radio community during his time with Hot 97. He’s worked with music big wigs such as Missy Elliott, Ciara, Faith Evans, and more. Fatman Scoop’s work was also featured in several movies including You Got Served which starred Omarion & Marques Houston and Save The Last Dance starring Julia Stiles.

Woman Says That Kanye West “Telepathically” Told Her To Steal A Car

If you read this story, you may not hear of anything that’s wilder than this. According to The Neighborhood Talk, a woman is claiming that Kanye West spoke to her telepathically to steal a car. Her name is Ricki Smith, she’s 28, and she hails from Kentucky. This all went down yesterday morning in Evansville, August 30. Smith arrived near a store and when she did, she attempted to break into multiple vehicles in a parking lot across from a store. The man who owns the shop saw Smith’s suspicious behavior and went over to confront her.

She was able to get into a car on her second attempt and the man attempted to get her out, but to no avail. Then, another woman, who runs the same store as the man, got involved and yanked her out. The heroic woman who got Smith removed from the vehicle pressed charges because she was on her way to take her child to daycare, and they witnessed the debacle go down. Obviously, this is a wild story on its own, but the fact that Kanye West is somehow involved with this story really takes it over the top.

As we stated, the woman said that the rapper had told her to commit this crime telepathically. Outside of the rest of the story, this was even more of a reason for police to take Smith into custody. However, it’s worth noting that she was traveling to Evansville from Louisville when her car broke down due to it being in a crash. That means that Smith hitchhiked all the way to Evansville. It’s possible that Smith sustained some sort of injury that led her to claim these things about Kanye. She’s currently at Vanderburgh County Jail awaiting her charges, according to The Express Tribune.

Chrisean Rock’s Prison Release Date Revealed

Chrisean Rock has dealt with her fair share of legal issues this year, but recently, her fans got a hopeful update. She was arrested in June of this year at one of Blueface’s court hearings. Reportedly, she had a warrant for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, and she was later sentenced to 30 days in a California jail. After that, she was extradited to Oklahoma, where she faces charges of “possession of marijuana with intent to distribute” and “possession of a controlled dangerous substance.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed that she could be facing up to eight years for her alleged crimes. As one would expect, her fans were heartbroken, particularly for the sake of her infant son. According to her Baddies co-star Natalie Nunn, however, she may be getting out far sooner than many expected.

Chrisean Rock Is Set To Be Released On September 9, According To Natalie Nunn

During a recent Instagram Live, Nunn claimed that Chrisean is set to be released on September 9. Obviously, this is great news for the controversial personality, as this is just a few days away. For now, this date is not confirmed, and fans will just have to wait and see what actually plays out in her case. Regardless, this is a far more positive update than they’ve heard previously.

As for the father of her child Blueface, he was handed a four-year prison sentence this month. He received credit for time served and must complete at least 33 percent of his sentence to be eligible for release. He predicts that he’ll be out in either March or April of 2025. “Plus quit with the dark skin s**t,” Azealia Banks went on concerning the former City Girl. “Like what the hell does that even mean anymore. Just because some gays are taking ur money to put you in neon green lipstick and blonde wigs doesn’t mean youre fashionable sis. the real fashion girls actually don’t see it for you, like at all. They think you look ‘heavy.’ Lol.” Perhaps we will never know if something else provoked this rant behind the scenes, but the most likely scenario is that she just woke up on the combative side of the bed and JT happened to be the target this time around.

Meanwhile, Azealia Banks doesn’t always just bash other celebrities. She also gives out her own stamp of approval, as she recently did by making her own remix of Tinashe’s “Nasty.” Sometimes this homage can come across as backhanded, but we can’t always assume that someone is hating. Hopefully we get more examples of admirable tributes instead of unprompted attacks.

He claims it’s because Ross won’t get the kind of attention he’s looking for without mentioning him, whereas he makes headlines regardless.

“Nothing else works for him,” he began. “Outside of mentioning me. When things get bad, he mentions me, it gets covered… I get covered across the board, they get covered on the hip-hop blogs. It is what it is.”

Ice Spice has a couple of big hits and a signature sound all her own, but it’s starting to tire out a lot of her core fanbase. Moreover, she recently shared a new song snippet with her die-hards on social media, and as you can see in the comments section of the Instagram post below, they aren’t super impressed. This is because it sounds very similar to these other tracks. Sure, every single Jersey/drill beat can’t always sound unique, but the Bronx femcee has a lot of potential to experiment with more flows and fittingly attack other styles of production.

In fact, Ice Spice fans prompted a lot of viral discussions around her as of late, one of these being her sudden weight loss. While some fans claim that she uses Ozempic, her recent post of her intense workout routine seems to discredit that or at least make it a less likely possibility. Either way, the 24-year-old faces more pressure than most in every aspect of her career. We can’t say that demands for her to switch up her sound aren’t invalid, but rarely before did young careers like these have so many backseat drivers clamoring to design its path forward.

Elsewhere, the supposed beef between Ice Spice and Latto continues to be a big part of their narratives on social media. “Um, is it true you got beef with Ice Spice?” 2 Chainz’s son hilariously asked the Atlanta femcee during their podcast episode. “Oh my God, here we go,” she answered. “Let me tell you something, Halo. Meanwhile, other supposed feuds, such as falling out with Nicki Minaj, still define Ice Spice’s current proliferation online among fans. It’s a bit unfair and certainly unnecessary, but a reality nonetheless. We’ll see how she chooses to move forward and what her next moves will be after Y2K. Maybe this is the marker that will precede a new era with a new sound.
