LeBron And Bronny Set To Play Together In Lakers Opener

The Los Angeles Lakers will make history when LeBron James and his son Bronny share the court as the first father-son duo in NBA history.

LeBron is entering his 22nd season, while Bronny begins his NBA journey after being selected by the Lakers in the second round.

While Bronny may not feature heavily in the Lakers’ rotation, it’s anticipated that head coach JJ Redick will give him opportunities and according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, who appeared on the Bill Simmons Podcast, there’s a plan to have Bronny and LeBron take the floor together on Opening Night, just to “get it out of the way.”

Given the expectations, it makes sense that Redick and the Lakers would want this historic moment to happen early. The Lakers’ first game is against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22.

Nonetheless, it’s likely that Redick will insert Bronny, which would be a special moment for the James family and Lakers fans alike.

However, it goes down, it’s clear that this moment will be one of the most historic in the history of the association. Then the countdown to Bronny’s first bucket, LeBron to Bronny, and Bronny to LeBron’s first assists… That will all be part of the hoopla. Make no mistake.

Cassie Looks Unbothered In NYC After Diddy’s Arrest

Diddy’s legal issues only continue to make headlines, particularly following his arrest in New York City earlier this week. According to TMZ, he’s been charged with “racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.” Yesterday, he appeared in court for an appeal hearing, where a judge shot down his request for release on bail for the second time.

The mogul’s legal saga kicked off back in November with a lawsuit from Cassie, who dated him on and off from 2007 to 2018. She accused him of sexual assault, abuse, and much more. They settled roughly a day after she filed. This summer, disturbing hotel security footage exclusively obtained by CNN also surfaced online. In it, he’s seen pulling the songstress to the ground, kicking her, and throwing objects in her direction.

Following Diddy’s arrest this week, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo alleged that Cassie will serve as a witness in his upcoming trial. Agnifilo also accused her of having cheated on Diddy for years before the aforementioned hotel assault. Now, she’s been spotted out and about in NYC, appearing unfazed by all of the chaos surrounding her ex.

In various clips and photos, she’s seen relaxing at an outdoor cafe, dodging paparazzi, and more. It appears as though she’s living her best life these days, per usual. Nicki Minaj Mocks Laid-Off Employees At Cardi B’s Record Label

Hundreds of Atlantic Records employees were in for a surprise when parent company Warner Music’s CEO, Robert Kyncl, emailed them today (Thursday, September 19). The media conglomerate announced a massive restructuring process for Atlantic that will include layoffs, warning them of some bad news moving forward. This is obviously no laughing matter, but Nicki Minaj barely held back in her shade. Many speculate that her dismissive reaction to this news on Thursday morning is because Cardi B is on Atlantic, and because the label has allegedly tried to sabotage Nicki’s career as a result of their beef.

“Dear fired executives & A&R’s: Don’t be mad, UPS is hiring,” Nicki Minaj ruthlessly tweeted. “Also, feel free to submit your resumes for a job @ #HeavyOnIt [her imprint with Republic Records].” “They’ve been wanting empty arenas so bad. Obsessed with me while all your friends r getting fired is nasty work,” she added in a previous tweet. Of course, it’s far from the Trinidadian superstar’s only Twitter rant as of late. For example, she recently went off on an assistant who made a food order for her, but just had one small issue: she didn’t conceal Nicki’s identity.

Nicki Minaj’s Atlantic-Shading Tweets

Elsewhere, Nicki Minaj continues to share about her life and beefs, whether combatively or in a more measured manner. She claimed to still not have U.S. citizenship recently, and while she didn’t talk about it more, a lot of fans expressed surprise upon hearing this. “I’m not a citizen of America. Isn’t that crazy?” Nicki shared. “I was born on a beautiful island called Trinidad and Tobago. But I’ve been in the States for many years. You would think that with the millions of dollars that I paid in taxes to this country that I would [get] an honorary citizenship many, many, many thousands of years ago.”

Regardless, Nicki Minaj is a massive icon and probably drove many Barbz to petition the U.S. government unprompted to give her what she deserves. Jokes aside, we wonder what her next revelation to fans will be, and what that story reflects. In this case, it’s partly about the biggest femcee rivalry since Minaj’s original rise and largely about the music industry’s competitive and merciless practices. Let’s see if any Atlantic employees come knocking at Heavy On It’s door… a label whose parent company Republic Records also had layoffs this year, funnily enough.

Rick Ross & Trick Trick Settle Their Beef Onstage

While many Rick Ross and Drake fans think they won’t reconcile, some have hope thanks to the former’s recent actions. For those unaware, Rozay and Detroit rapper Trick Trick have had beef since around 2014, when Ross was allegedly banned from performing at Summer Jamz in the city. He allegedly feared for his life per HipHopDX due to the 100-person blockade that Trick led to stop him from performing, which also allegedly included a no fly zone thanks to his alleged disrespect of the city. But that’s all over now. Moreover, the two squashed their beef with the help of Death Row Records cofounder Michael “Harry O” Harris.

Furthermore, Harry O organized the Community First Action concert in Pontiac, Michigan on Tuesday (September 17). He introduced the two and they embraced onstage before Rick Ross performed his 2010 track “I’m Not A Star.” While this is very heartening to see, we know that he’s dealing with a lot of other beefs right now, ones that he might have to try really hard to squash if he wants to. One of these is with Ross’ ex Tia Kemp, who recently accused him of ordering hits out on people.

Nevertheless, here’s what Rick Ross had to say about burying the hatchet with Trick Trick on Instagram. “I want to take time out and salute the ones really making a difference in the community,” he shared. “The big homie Harry O, what you doing with Community First, I love it. You flying me out last night, you having Trick Trick bring me out on stage. I’m sure everybody knows me and Trick Trick had our differences for over a decade and here we are just moving forward, doing big things in the community. We got some more big things coming.”

Nicki Minaj is certainly no stranger to calling people out online, and it appears as though her tour staff is no exception. Recently, the “FTCU” rapper took to Twitter/X to drag an assistant on her “Pink Friday 2” tour, who she claims was previously fired. She shared a photo of a takeout order, complete with a message from restaurant employees written on the bag. “We [love] u barb,” it read.

“Thank God I don’t eat the food in this place. Imagine seeing this written on a brown paper bag. Why would a person placing an order say who it’s for? Odd? Or?” Nicki said of the note. “Ion care how long it take to get a opp bak. I will never ever eat again from outback.”

Nicki Minaj Calls Out Tour Staffer

One Barb in her replies encouraged her to re-evaluate her team, noting that her name should not have been mentioned by whoever placed the order. “Oh she was fired last leg but was mysteriously hired again! Hmmmm could you guess who she works for?” Nicki then responded. “I didn’t know she was “still” hired until last night. Look @ GOD.”

This is far from the only feud Nicki’s been wrapped up in lately, however. After it was announced that Kendrick Lamar would headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, she hopped online to put Jay-Z and Roc Nation on blast. According to her, the opportunity should have gone to Lil Wayne instead, as the event is scheduled to take place in his hometown of New Orleans. Biopic Based on Life of Queen Latifah in Development

U.N.I.T.Y, you gotta let em know. Remember that hook? Classic. And to memorialize the legacy of Queen Latifah a biopic film is reportedly, officially in development. This was confirmed by our friends at Shadow and Act.

Get this, this marks the first project of a new collaboration between Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment, Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios, and Jesse Collins Entertainment.

What’s more, they are launching a series of biopics focusing on iconic hip-hop stars. The projects will be independently financed by HarborView Equity Partners, under the leadership of Sherrese Clarke Soares.

Now, it’s not clear on specifics surrounding the Queen Latifah film and other upcoming biopics but that’s set to be revealed in the coming months.

What’s interesting, alongside financing, HarborView is also offering “access to its extensive portfolio of over 70+ music catalogs that feature thousands of titles spanning numerous genres, eras, and artists for potential development opportunities.”

Behind the camera, Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere are producing the biopic on behalf of Flavor Unit Entertainment, while Will Smith and Miguel Melendez will produce for Westbrook Studios. Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon are producing on behalf of Jesse Collins Entertainment, with Charlie Mack also serving as a producer.

Shadow and Act fielded a rack of great quotes on the project and partnership …

Here’s what Queen Latifah and Compere shared in a joint statement: “We all came into this industry together, and Hip Hop has shaped each and every one of us. Hip Hop’s impact has expanded beyond just music and has created a lasting impression on culture and society overall. It is a dream to be able to collaborate with friends and colleagues that have not only a shared understanding but are able to tell these stories that were the backdrop of our lives.”

I’m thrilled to work alongside Flavor Unit, Jesse Collins Entertainment, and HarbourView to highlight the incredible stories of some of our favorite artists and icons. What’s Going At Atlantic Records? Layoffs Hit Iconic Label

There’s something brewing at Atlantic Records. Variety reports in the wake of the expected departures of Atlantic Music Group’s top executives, Julie Greenwald and Kevin Liles, the company has initiated significant layoffs as it restructures. Warner Music CEO Robert Kyncl referred to this transition as part of “a new dynamic structure for the label group.”

Dynamic. Gotcha. Interesting yes, dynamic not sure.

Get this, Atlantic declined to comment, sources told Variety that approximately 170 employees have been affected by the layoffs.

Check this list out … Of those exiting Atlantic are GM/executive VP Paul Sinclair, president of Black music Michael Kyser, EVP of publicity Sheila Richman, marketing EVP Grace James, and SVP of touring Harlan Frey. Over at Atlantic’s sister company, 300 Elektra, notable departures include EVP/general counsel Margo Scott, EVP Chris Brown, head of marketing Katie Robinson, and sales/streaming chief Adam Abramson, among others.

What’s more is Elliot Grainge, Atlantic’s incoming CEO, will officially assume his role on Oct. 1. The reorganization follows Warner’s recorded music head Max Lousada’s decision to step down earlier this year. This new structure will see all label and publishing heads reporting directly to Kyncl. The layoffs are part of a broader industry trend, with several dozen Atlantic employees already let go in the past 18 months.

Guess, you know what happens and it’s certainly happening at Atlantic.

But Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are so in love with each other that they probably look gorgeous to each other every millisecond of every day… and to most people, if we’re being real. “It’s crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules,” Rocky told Billboard recently. “[The relationship] is going great.
