A$AP Rocky celebrated his birthday on Tuesday (Oct. 3) and went with his bae and the mother of his children, Rihanna, on a trip to Carbone. Leaving the kids at home, Rihanna stunned in all black and flexing in some heeled leggings. Rocky left in a blazer with a shirt and tie nestled under a grey sweater.
Last month, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky formally introduced the world to their new son, Riot Rose. The 1-month-old baby is the subject of a photo shoot featuring their first son RZA.

Riot was born on Aug. 1, 2023, at Cedar Sinai Hospital at 7:41 a.m. Additionally, the belief is “RIhanna feels her family is now complete” and “it’s something she’s always wanted.”
“She loves being a mom, so this is where her mind is at the moment,” the source added.
Since 2021, the untimely death of Hip Hop icon MF DOOM, the cult following that he created before his passing continues to keep his legacy alive and current. However, his artistic passion has been inherited by his firstborn son, Daniel Dumile Jr. As an artist, Daniel Jr. has become an established force in his own right, but as the successor of the DOOM legacy and the Metal Face brand, the depth and meaning behind the mask can only be explained by the first descendant of DOOM.
Daniel teased an exhibit dedicated to his father earlier this year, but felt that the presentation wouldn’t be complete without his signature tribute piece. When asked why he waited until now to release his tribute piece, Dumile Jr. replied, “It took a minute to get settled after I left the uk. I had the idea to produce a series of paintings in 2015. For around three years since then I would spend a chunk of my time in the states and rest abroad. Between going to work with my pops, traveling to visit elders, family losses and the pandemic, I had no time to dedicate towards what I needed to do.”
The tribute is the cornerstone of Dumile’s exhibition dedicated to DOOM; however, his explanation of the mask and the man behind its creation seems a bit deeper than how its been explained in his father’s music. The Metal Face heir’s explanation is elaborate yet practical, saying, “The piece focuses on the idea of the villain. The ellipsis after the word villain serves as an indicator of something more or something being left out.” Daniel further expounds on the villain character, saying, “Villain then ellipsis means villain, then, unexpected/unapparent. The villain character in stories shows the other side of the hero or the side that everyone may not “like”. The tribute piece consists of four main layers that build on a central idea. They all need to be recognized to get the full picture.”
Fans and critics will always look for the similarities between the father and the son to see the remnants of the art they once revered. Dumile’s demeanor, voice, and even creative process almost mirrors his dad’s. He admits that his value system of “knowledge of self” was instilled in him during the making of Operation Doomsday, adding, “The DOOM style is an off the beaten path style. I watched/listened to my father apply these ideas to his career. I try to apply them visually. The recording of Operation: Doomsday spanned from the early mid nineties to the late nineties. I was given knowledge of self from my grandmother and old dad during that period. At the same time I was being exposed to the “hood”. My dad showed me how to transfer the feeling of that situation and our ghetto life experiences, into artwork.”
Tory Lanez may be behind bars, but that isn’t stopping him from keeping his fans updated on his current situation. The “Color Violent” rapper shared a recorded message to his fans from prison in which he discussed his improved conditions as well as upcoming releases.
A post, which featured an old school cordless phone with the name “Tory” on it was shared to the rapper’s Instagram account along with the caption “Message To The Umbrellas #AloneAtPromDeluxe #FreeTory.” The audio transcript is as follows:
Hey yo, Umbrellas, man was good…I’m talking to you live from prison right now man…I’m just happy to get out that bulls*** county jail. They was hating on a young fly n**** you heard? But with all them disadvantages against me, my head has always been held high, man. And I want you all to know I’m in great spirits. My drive and my ambition is growing stronger and stronger every day. And I’m so proud of how y’all been moving in my support. Man, I know this feels like a scary time, but don’t be afraid, man. So let’s just start with the one we want the most, Alone at Prom Deluxe.
Alone at Prom Deluxe is the rumored follow up to the artist’s 2021 release, Alone at Prom. In a now-deleted tweet, Lanez originally had said in the summer of 2022 that he would release the album at an unspecified later date, tweeting: “Alone at prom deluxe will drop after my case is over and I can receive the proper PLAY-LISTING and support … the music did over 160 MILLION STREAMS .. with no support .. I don’t want the album getting overlooked twice . It’s too good.”
Lanez, (real name Daystar Peterson), 31, was recently transferred to Administrative Segregation at North Kern State Prison in Delano, CA on September 19. Lanez was convicted on Dec. 23, 2022 for shooting and injuring Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 and received a 10 year sentence without the possibility of parole.
This weekend, social media attacked President Joe Biden after he seemed to forget rapper LL Cool J’s name and referred to him as “boy”, while delivering a speech to the Congressional Black Caucus. The president, however, quickly corrected himself, allegedly mixing up LL’s real name– James Todd Smith.
LL Cool J and MC Lyte were on deck to receive the Phoenix Award at the annual awards dinner in Washington D.C. during the CBC’s 52nd Annual Legislative Conference. They were recognised for their musical contributions.
“Two of the great artists of our time representing the groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America , LL Jay Cool J, uhhh…” Joe said, as the crowd laughed at his gaffe.
“By the way that boy — that man’s got biceps bigger than my thighs,” he added. After the blunder, Joe acknowledged MC Lyte, drawing a round of applause from the audience.
Following the blunder, the president was trending on X after the video of the incident went viral. “Thank you for this moment @JoeBiden it’s going to be a great song,” one user joked in the comment section of the video, shared by RNC Research. “Old habits die hard “Boy” Not a joke,” one said. “Ohhh god make it stop PLLLEASE . he’s making a total mockery of this country,” said one user, while another wrote, “Boy? Cringe…”.
“MAKE IT STOP,” one user said, while another asked, “Was LL insulted? Why no response from him?” “Joey loves that word ‘boy’. Wonder where he picked that up?” said one user. Another wrote, “Oooohhhh wowwwwww HE DONE REALY MESSED UP WITH THIS ONE”. “Embarrassing……Priceless,” said one user.
“Everyone under 60 is a boy to him. I still call my youngest son a boy- he’s 30,” one user said. Another user wrote, “I’m thinking he’s confused again”. “The way the crowd groaned. @POTUS was oblivious. Pure cringe,” one user wrote.

“New Season, New Boobs!” That was the announcement that Sherri Shepherd made to open Season 2 of her namesake “Sherri” show. Joking that “everything is going to be bigger except these boobs,” the television host took time to poke fun of Drake‘s massive bra collection.
Shepherd started out by telling viewers that despite decades of unsolicited comments about her body from others, she did indeed get a breast reduction over the summer, making note that she did not get the procedure based on the input or opinions of other people, but because she was experiencing back pain and other physical issues as a result of her breasts (which she shared with the audience were a 42DD). She took time to explain how her breast size was something that she had struggled with her whole life and struggled with even more as she aged, making a series of hilarious jokes before describing some of the physical pain that she had endured before going to the doctor for a consultation and eventually going through with the procedure.
Shepherd then put Drake up on the screen behind her before making a series of jokes about the women who threw their bras at Drake, musing about how difficult it must be to take one off at a concert before going and getting a wheelbarrow full of her whole bras and spilling them out on stage and joking that someone needed to make sure that Drake got them for his collection.

St. Louis Culture: Where Graffiti Meets Groove, Breakdancing Blends with Jazz, and Deejaying Dances with Humanity
In a resounding celebration of music’s timeless power, the vibrant city of St. Louis recently served as the epicenter of musical ecstasy during the 2023 edition of Music at the Intersection. Nestled in the heart of the Grand Center Arts District, this annual extravaganza unfolded over two days, welcoming music enthusiasts from every corner of the globe for an experience that defied boundaries and blurred the lines between genres, generations, and musical eras.
The festival’s headline act, none other than the legendary Grandmaster Flash, took to the stage, reaffirming his rightful status as the “Founding Father.” An icon of hip-hop whose influence has rippled across generations, Flash ignited the crowd with his timeless beats, a testament to the enduring impact of his artistry. His performance set the stage for an event that would pay homage to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, reminding us of the genre’s profound legacy.
Music at the Intersection is renowned for its diverse lineup, and 2023 was no exception. The festival’s stages bore witness to a fusion of iconic figures such as Angela Winbush, Arrested Development, Cameo, Herbie Hancock, and Taj Mahal, seamlessly blending with the rising stars of today, including Masego, Phony PPL, Ravyn Lenae, Smino, and Thundercat. It was a harmonious collision of hip-hop’s storied history and promising future, where musical worlds converged.
Injecting a hearty dose of funk and groove into the mix, the collective genius of Snarky Puppy and the irresistible vibes of The Suffers and Tank and the Bangas had the audience grooving well into the night. These performances transcended genres, underscoring the festival’s commitment to showcasing music’s kaleidoscopic facets.
St. Louis jazz legends Denise Thimes and the Kendrick Smith Quartet delivered awe-inspiring performances, invoking the city’s rich musical heritage. Their presence was a living testament to the festival’s mission of celebrating St. Louis’ indelible mark on the American songbook.
Trumpeter Keyon Harrold brought his unmistakable “no place like home” energy to St. Louis, joining a roster of music heavyweights at Music At The Intersection. Backed by the incredible Shedrick Mitchell on keys, the dynamic Pharoahe Monch & Stout setting the stage ablaze, and the masterful Charles Haynes on drums, Harrold’s performance was a living testament to the unifying power of music across genres. His words resonated deeply: “It’s the 50th year of hip-hop, and I am bringing Pharoahe Monch with me – who is a legend. I am bringing Stout with me. We are going to merge the worlds – hip-hop meets jazz.”
Beyond the infectious beats and irresistible rhythms, Music at the Intersection was a testament to St. Louis’ profound impact on the music world. The festival transcended boundaries, spanning blues, jazz, soul, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and hip-hop. It was a vibrant celebration of St. Louis’ musical, cultural, and artistic legacy.
A historic moment was etched into hip-hop’s annals as radio personality Edie Bee Anderson was honored with a Legends Award. Anderson, a trailblazer who introduced hip-hop to St. Louis airwaves by spinning “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang in 1979, rightfully received the recognition she deserved. Her pioneering spirit ignited a movement that has molded the city’s music culture.
Chris Hansen, the visionary executive director of Kranzberg Arts Foundation and chief producer of Music at the Intersection, beautifully encapsulated the festival’s essence: “St. Louis artists have birthed and stewarded these great genres, and now, the rest of the world gets to enjoy playing and listening to the music that we’ve been so instrumental in breaking.” The event undoubtedly realized its vision of uniting music lovers from around the globe.
Music at the Intersection 2023 was more than a festival; it was a musical odyssey through time and genres, a celebration of St. Louis’ enduring influence on music, and a testament to the unifying power of the art form. As the festival concluded, it left an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of all who attended, serving as a poignant reminder that music, in all its glory, truly knows no boundaries.

Back in July Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs filed a lawsuit against Diageo Beverages accusing them of discriminating against his liquor brands Ciroc and DeLeon. The mogul accused them of using discriminatory practices when marketing his liquor brands. This week a judge denied Diageo’s motion to dismiss the case.
The Spirit Business reports:
The Supreme Court of New York has denied Diageo’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought forward by rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs over alleged racial discrimination.
The ruling, made by judge Joel M Cohen on 7 September, will allow Combs to engage in ‘broad discovery’ aimed at uncovering evidence that the company didn’t support Combs’ liquor brands – Ciroc Vodka and DeLéon Tequila – in the same manner that it supports its other brands, according to John Hueston, Combs’ attorney.
Combs Wine and Spirits has accused Diageo of “cloaking itself in the language of diversity and equality”, and claims that the company had “proven unwilling to treat its Black partners equally – even when explicitly required by contract to do so”.
Hueston said: “This case has always been about getting fair and equal treatment. Today’s decision is an important step in the right direction. Diageo tried to end this action. Today the judge soundly rejected that effort.”
In June, Diageo severed ties with the rapper, with whom it has had a partnership with for 15 years, and filed a response in relation to the lawsuit brought forward by Combs Wines and Spirits the previous month.
The firm said Combs’ accusations were false and defamatory, and were made to extract money from Diageo.
However, according to Hueston, the judge rejected this argument and found that Combs had made appropriate claims concerning issues that needed to be addressed by way of injunctive relief.
Diageo said in a statement: “While we are disappointed with today’s procedural decision, it is important to underscore that this is not a ruling on the merits of the claims, which we maintain are false and baseless. We are currently considering all legal options.”
