MC Akilah Nehanda has taken social media by storm with her controversial unapologetic freestyles.
From vaccinations to R.Kelly and now the Will Smith episode she voices her ‘unpopular opinion’ on trending topics. Garnering over 1 million views on TikTok, empress Akilah thanked viewers on her Instagram page.

1 million For the second time. #APDTA Listen! I just bring different perspectives! Will Smith can apologize. Jada can even say it was unnecessary and she doesn’t need protection! That doesn’t change my thoughts on the matter whatsoeverrrr. 🗣I SAID WHAT I SAID! I wish Breonna Taylors Killers got as much disciplinary actions for murder as Will is getting for a SLAP. All of them need to be in rehabilitation centers like they made Will go to 🤣 This country is sick. I hope y’all are watching what’s happening.

In a past interview with Vice magazine, the Houston beauty explained how and why she ventured into music.

I just started makin’ music, with the purpose of inspiration, and then, like you said, I just start realizing, “You know what? This can be bigger than what I’m makin’ it. I can make this bigger.” And I think — I try to think big, so I’m always like… the influence of Michael Jackson, that’s what we need, you know? [laughs] You know how big he was? This message deserves that type of impact on the world.

Ketanji Brown Jackson 1

Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed as the 116th Supreme Court justice of the United States making her the first Back woman elevated to the Supreme Court. Jackson will become the sixth woman justice ever and for the first time, the four women justices will be serving together, including Amy Coney Barrett, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Santamayor.  Judge Jackson, 51 years old, fulfilled a pledge made by President Biden at a pivotal moment in his 2020 Democratic presidential race. Judge Jackson’s nomination, overcomes intense Republican opposition, the Senate voted 53 to 47 to confirm, with three republicans-Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney joining fellow Democrats.  During the March confirmation hearings, Jackson said she would bring to the Supreme Court her life experiences and perspectives including her time as a judge, a court-appointed lawyer for criminal defendants who could not afford an attorney, a member of a federal commission on criminal sentencing and “being a Black woman, lucky inheritor of the civil rights dream.” Congratulations Justice Brown.

[WATCH] Selena Gomez Reveals She Is Happier Since Staying Off the Internet For Four Years

selena

Selena Gomez revealed she hasn’t been on the internet in four years despite being one of Instagram’s most-followed.

As we all know, anyone can go down a rabbit hole on the internet. Depending on what stage you are in during life, your mental health may or may not be affected by the glamorous, judgemental and sometimes wicked ways of the web.
While speaking to  Good Morning America, Gomez said she hasn’t used the Internet and she is much happier as a result.

“I haven’t been on the Internet in four and a half years,” she said. “It has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present. I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”

Despite being one of the most followed people on Instagram, Gomez reveals that the app is not even on her phone!

“I think it’s just become really unhealthy,” Gomez said previously on Live With Kelly & Ryan in 2019. “To spend time fixating on all these comments and letting this stuff in, it was affecting me. It would make me depressed. It would make me feel not good about myself, and look at my body differently.”

The actress has been very vocal about her struggles with her mental health and bipolar disorder, the Internet is just one step she’s taking to ensure she is on her road to happier living.
Could you live without the internet?

[WATCH] Twitter Roasts Chris Rock After Old Videos Resurface Of Him Shading Black Women

Screen Shot 2022 04 04 at 8.59.02 AM

Last week Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock came to Chris’s defense after he was slapped by Will Smith at the Academy Awards for disrespecting Jada Pinkett-Smith.

After watching the world go through a phase of ‘protect the black woman’ it was interesting to see the response after a man well…protected his black woman.
The feelings and history behind black hair is way deeper than poor comedic jokes. From alopecia to being told our hair is ‘bad’— black women have endured years of embarrassment at the expense of a few laughs. From being called nappy-headed, bald-headed and worse, it’s expected that men with black moms, aunts and relatives understand  the pain behind black hair. Acceptance, convenience, time-management and lack of hair knowledge have all contributed to black women’s hair journey. While it can be as personal to many as personal hygiene, it’s always baffling when men speak on issues that pertain to women.

chris rock

Tony Rock tweeted that everyone should watch his brother’s movie ‘Good Hair’ to prove Chris has nothing against ‘women of color’. This quickly turned bad when he was reminded how badly Chris portrayed Black women in ‘Good Hair’ a movie he allegedly stole from another Black woman
From explaining to White America how and why Michelle Obama wears weaves to turning his nose up at women who relax their hair Chris Rock’s disdain for black women’s hair choices were inevitable. His film Good Hair was supposed to teach others about our hair journey. Reminiscent of the kid that goes to school and tells all his family’s business. While celebrities supported the film and women in the film laughed nervously—most black women cringed through his movie. From questioning a child about her perm to trying to sell black hair no one wanted, it was just another slap in the face to the women we are supposed to protect. While Chris Rock’s own relationships have seemed to fail in spite of him choosing women with awesome hair choices, the question remains…is it a man’s business to discuss what a woman does with her hair?
Watch these clips below and Twitter’s response.

Kim Kardashian Address The Controversial ‘Nobody Wants To Work Hard’ Quote, “It Became A Sound Bite WIth No Context”

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ on Monday and spoke with Robin Roberts about the quote that offended a lot of her fans and followers and received a lot of backlash on social media.  On March 9  During a cover story video she and the family did with “Variety” to promote her new Hulu series, the question was asked if anyone in the family had any advice to aspiring female entrepreneurs, the Skims founder stated, “I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f—– ass up and work.” Kardashian went on to say, “It seems like nobody wants to work these days.” sending Twitter into an uproar.  In the interview with ‘Good Morning America,’ Kardashian clarified the statement she made, telling Roberts the quote was taken out of context as the answer stemmed from a question that was asked earlier and she was “really sorry” if she had offended people with the quote. “Having a social media presence and being on a reality show does not mean overnight success and You have to work hard to get there, even if it might seem like its easy and you can build a really successful business off of social media, and you can, if you put in a lot of hard work and it wasn’t a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think that they don’t work hard,  it was taken out of context but I’m really sorry if it was received that way.”  Watch her full statement Below

Teyana Taylor to Make One-Night-Only Return to Stage for ‘Big Femme Energy Live’

image001 10

Teyana Taylor, an artist, actress, and dancer, will perform live as a special guest during the forthcoming “Big Femme Energy Live” performance on March 24 for one night only, according to Amazon Music and Femme It Forward. Fans may watch live performances by Teyana Taylor, Ambré, Baby Rose, SAYGRACE, and Mapy, who will be accompanied by an all-women symphony orchestra. The one-of-a-kind concert, which will be live-streamed from Los Angeles’ Belasco Theater exclusively on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch starting at 7 p.m. PST, is the final stop on the “Big Femme Energy Live” tour.

“Sometimes we gotta take the time to smell our Roses even after the Last Petal falls. I can’t imagine a better way to close out Women’s History month than by celebrating with a group of phenomenal female artists and musicians to showcase our gifts together in this event to honor women around the world,” said Teyana Taylor.

“With March being the time of year when people celebrate women’s contributions to society, we decided that now would be a great time to release The Making of Big Femme Energy. While creating the album, it became evident that we, as women, make up the fabric of the entertainment industry. However, when it comes down to owning and distributing works of art, we oftentimes face barriers that our male counterparts do not,” said Heather Lowery, president and CEO of Femme It Forward. “Viewers will get a firsthand look into the blood, sweat, and many tears that went into making something seemingly as simple as an all-women compilation album. Our hope is that after viewing the film and tuning into the Big Femme Energy Live experience on March 24 with Amazon Music, we’ll move beyond just celebrating women once a year and truly start to recognize the benefits that we provide to the industry through our dedication, hard work, and creativity on a daily basis.”

The Making of Big Femme Energy, a 15-minute documentary launching on Amazon Music on March 29 and includes artist interviews and behind-the-scenes footage describing how the Big Femme Energy compilation album and tour came together, will take fans even deeper.

Heather Lowery, President and CEO of Femme It Forward, will also host a special Women’s History Month edition of Amazon Music’s “Group Thread” on March 28. She’ll be joined by special guests as they discuss the concert, the evolution of Big Femme Energy Vol. 1, and even tease an upcoming look at Vol. 2. Group Thread will premiere exclusively on the Amazon Music Twitch Channel on March 28 at 6 p.m. PST.
