Snoop Dogg Calls Out Grammys For Lack Of Recognition

Snoop Dogg called out the Recording Academy on Instagram, Monday, for his lack of success at the Grammys. He shared a list of the rappers with the five most wins: Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Pharrell. He then complained about having yet to win a single Grammy.

“Snoop dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins,” Snoop captioned the list. Snoop currently holds the most nominations for a winless rapper. Other artists in the same boat include 2Pac, Biggie, Nicki Minaj, DMX, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, and Pusha T. Snoop has received nominations for Album of the Year twice. Once came for his contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. Another came for his work on Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. His 2014 album, Reincarnated, was also up for Best Reggae Album.

Despite being the most decorated hip-hop artist in Grammys history, Jay-Z has had plenty of issues with the Recording Academy over the years. He even dissed the Grammys on his and Beyoncé‘s Everything Is Love track, “Apeshit.” He rapped, “Tell the Grammy’s fuck that 0 for eight shit.” His album 4:44 had just gone winless at the Grammys. Jay-Z reflected on the Grammys‘ problems during an interview for Tidal on Monday. He also discussed his reaction to Beyoncé losing Album of the Year.

“The truth is, we grew up wanting to be on the Grammys, and it was our goal. We just want them to get it right. That’s what we want. Obviously it’s music and it’s all subjective, but you got to be in the ballpark. That’s all we want. We just want them to get it right because we love it so much,” he said. “For the culture, I love this shit so much I want them to get it right. I want to experience those moments when it’s the culmination of when Michael popped off. That moment left an indelible mark on us forever.” Check out Snoop Dogg’s post on Instagram tomorrow.

The Rock Went To ‘Great Lengths’ To Keep His Surprise Appearance At The Grammys For Adele A Secret

It’s not often that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t the most famous person in the room, but that was the case on Sunday during the 2023 Grammys. Attendees includes Beyoncé, Taylor Swift (who worked with the wrestler-turned-actor for her “The Man” music video), Bad Bunny, and Adele. “Someone that I’ve never met that I think I would actually cry is The Rock,” the “Easy on Me” singer once admitted. Her wish came true at the Grammys, providing one of the night’s more delightful moments.

Johnson told Variety how he pulled off the surprise.

“We wanted to do something special for Adele,” he said. “I know that she is a very big fan of mine and has made that clear publicly many times. But I’ve got to tell you, I am a huge fan of hers, as well — her music, her journey, her openness and directness in how she speaks. I’ve always admired that about her.” The Rock went to “great lengths to make sure that Adele was authentically surprised in the moment, and she was.” He also called Adele “a special iconic brilliant inspiring artist who has inspired a generation and who will continue to inspire generations to come. I love that woman.”

If she slips a bottle of Teremana into her next music video, he’ll love her even more.

Did Quavo And Offset Actually Fight At The Grammys?

There’s no denying the Grammy Awards is the biggest night in music. Just as the annual ceremony looks to acknowledge the year’s rising stars and legacy acts. The program also carves out time each year during its In Memoriam tribute section to remember the musicians that passed away (or at least some of them). For rapper Quavo, this was the most meaningful part of the event.

Performing his new song, “Without You,” the Atlanta native paid his respects to his late nephew, rapper Takeoff, who was tragically killed last year. Unfortunately, the touching tribute has since been mudded by allegations that a fight broke out backstage between him and Offset.

The former Migos member quickly took to Twitter to deny the rumors, writing, “What the f*ck look like fighting my brother y’all n****s is crazy.”

However, now footage obtained by TMZ has fans questioning what to believe. In the video, Offset’s wife, Cardi B, a featured presenter for the evening, was heard yelling, “Both of y’all wrong. Both of y’all. This is not right.”

Shortly after she’s heard yelling, ET‘s Kevin Fraizer asked Cardi about what tensions she was attempting to settle, and she denied anything had happened. Cardi laughs off the question, saying, “The only thing I settled was my outfit, honey.”

Later, Offset is seen walking away alongside his former label head Pierre Thomas visibly upset as he makes mention of a red carpet incident. Something clearly transpired, but what exactly happened is still unclear.

Diddy Responds After Fans Think He Threw Shade At Burna Boy

Diddy cleared the air on Tuesday after sharing a mysterious message that many believed was directed toward Burna Boy. The Bad Boy founder shared appeared to throw shade at an unnamed artist following the Grammys, who he claimed he helped with their first Grammy. “I helped you win your first and only Grammy award which I did out of kindness, and somehow you thought you could win another without my help ?? Oh okay..,” he wrote.

The reason people believed this was directed at Burna Boy was due to the Nigerian singer’s nomination in the Best Global Album category at the Grammys. His latest album, Love, Damini, secured the nod, though it lost to Masa Takumi’s Sakura. Burna’s already earned six nominations in the past few years while only winning once for Twice As Tall, executive produced by Diddy. The 2020 album won the Grammy for Best Global Music Album. Needless to say, fans put the pieces together and suggested that Diddy felt some way about the “Last Last” artist.”

As the internet shared their thoughts, Diddy finally responded to the backlash. Though the screenshot of his Instagram post circulated online, he suggested that it may have been a photoshop job. “This is fake,” he wrote in the comment section. Still, many called him out as they claimed they saw it on his own Instagram Story.

Throughout his career, Diddy earned 13 nominations at the Grammys while winning three awards. Diddy won his first pair of Grammys in 1998. “I’ll Be Missing You” alongside Faith Evans and 112 won Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. That same evening, Diddy took home the Best Rap Album award for Puff Daddy and The Family’s No Way Out

Perhaps, Diddy’s striving towards winning a fourth Grammy next year. Last year, Puffy announced his R&B-focused label, Love Records, through which he’ll release his forthcoming album. He previously released “Gotta Move On” ft. Bryson Tiller to launch the campaign for the project. Then, he teamed up with OVO’s PartyNextDoor for “Sex In The Porsche.” Though he hasn’t shared a release date for the project yet, it’s possible the project sees a summer release date. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding the upcoming R&B album.

Latto Dubs Herself A ‘Swiftie’ As She Posts A Hilarious Selfie With Taylor Swift At The 2023 Grammys

Latto was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Big Energy (Live)”) at the 2023 Grammys over the weekend. While she didn’t take home a win this year, she clearly still had a blast interacting with other stars and musicians at the event.

One of which was Taylor Swift, who Latto recently uploaded a selfie with to Twitter. It’s also a silly one too, as Latto poses with her tongue out and Swift does a cheek kiss. “Swiftie,” Latto captioned the post with champagne glass and heart emojis.

As anyone who was watching the ceremony knows, the celebs were partying hard in full force during the event. Swift frequently drew attention from the camera as she danced and did a similar pose with Bad Bunny and did some other silly wine-mom-energy moves with Jack Antonoff. Oh yeah, and she sparked the internet after interacting with her ex, Harry Styles.

It’s technically not the first time Latto’s been associated with Swift either. In April of last year, a YouTuber mashed up the “Big Energy” instrumental with Taylor Swift’s “22” acapella. The downside is that it’s not Taylor’s re-recorded version, but it’s still a fun remix worth checking out.

Here’s hoping Latto has a chance of making it onto Reputation or 1989 (Taylor’s Versions) in the future.

Ice Spice & Doja Cat Look Gorgeous Together At Pre-Grammys Party

Ice Spice and Doja Cat met up recently. However, fans think this could lead to something bigger than a Kodak moment. During the Grammy festivities, the “Munch” rapper and the Planet Her artist linked up for a quick flick together. Though Spice captioned the post with several emojis, it led some to believe that a collab could happen soon.

If a collaboration happens, it would undoubtedly make Ice Spice’s year. In her meteoric rise in the past year, she’s earned plenty of co-signs. Still, she admitted that she wanted to lock in music with Doja Cat. During an interview with Erykah Badu and her daughter Puma Curry for Interview Mag, the “Bikini Bottom” rapper said Nicki and Doja would be her dream collabs. “I have to say Nicki because that’s just like, duh,” she told Puma Curry, who was surprised Nicki didn’t hop on “Munch.” “She would eat that shit up, too. But another dream collab is Doja Cat.”

Perhaps, this is something we could look forward to in the future. Doja Cat previously stated that she feels discredited as a rapper. Maybe, we’ll catch Doja Cat and Ice Spice go bar-for-bar. The “Boss Bitch” artist revealed that she’s working on her next album. It’s unclear how deep she is in the recording process but maybe, she could free up a verse for the Bronx Baddie.

The two artists met up at Spotify’s Best New Artist, which brought out a slew of stars. Not only did up-and-comers like Doechii, Shawn Mendes, and Tove Lo show face but also, A-List celebs like Leonardo DiCaprio, Trevor Noah, and Jared Leto. Evidently, it was an excellent opportunity throughout the chaotic Grammys week to not only spot the biggest celebrities but catch the next big emerging act.

Ice Spice has undoubtedly ascended to become one of the most prominent figures in rap in 2023. Thanks to the success of “Munch (Feelin’ U),” she earned critical acclaim as one of the first female rappers from the New York drill scene to reach mainstream attention. In January, she shared her debut EP, Like…? which boasts “Gangsta Boo” ft. Lil Tjay and her latest hit, “In Ha Mood.”

Kendrick Lamar’s Fiancée Shared An Adorable Video Of Their Children Watching As He Accepted His Grammy

At the 2023 Grammy Awards that took place this past Sunday (February 5), Kendrick Lamar took home the award for Best Rap Album for his fourth major-label album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

Though Lamar’s fiancée Whitney Alford, and their two children — daughter Uzi and son Enoch — couldn’t be at the Crypto.com arena on Grammy night to witness the special moment, the three of them were tuned into the television to watch it happen.

Alford shared a video on her Instagram story, featuring herself and their children watching Lamar deliver his acceptance speech.

“First and foremost I want to thank my family for giving me the courage and vulnerability to share these stories and share my truth with this album,” said Lamar during the speech. “I want to thank my fans for trusting me with these words. As artists… we say things to provoke thoughts and feelings and emotions.”

When three-year-old Uzi heard the word “family,” she was overjoyed to know Lamar was talking about her, Enoch, and Alford.

“Daddy! He’s talking about us!” she says in the clip shared to Alford’s story. “He’s talking about us. He’s talking about his family… Uzi and Enoch and mommy.”

On Grammy night, Lamar also took home the awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “The Heart Part 5,” bringing his total number of wins for the night up to three, and his overall Grammy wins up to 14.
