GORDO Unveils Tracklist for Much-Anticipated Self-Titled Album ‘DIAMANTE’

0Z4A4647

Globally renowned producer and DJ Diamante Blackmon, known as GORDO, has announced the tracklist for his forthcoming self-titled album, DIAMANTE, set to drop on July 26th via Ultra Records. This highly anticipated release follows his transformative journey from Carnage to GORDO, showcasing a blend of genres and a diverse roster of collaborators.

DIAMANTE marks GORDO’s debut solo album after years of influential collaborations with top artists like Drake, Bad Bunny, and Nicki Minaj. The album features 15 tracks, reflecting GORDO’s artistic evolution and dedication, including collaborations with Drake, Fuerza Regida, Leon Bridges, Rampa, and Maluma. GORDO describes the album as a deeply personal project, blending electronic dance music with Hip Hop, Pop, Reggaeton, Indie, and Jazz influences.

“I’m so proud of how ‘DIAMANTE’ turned out. At this point, there’s nothing I would change; I guess that’s why it took four years—to ensure I could look at it and know it’s perfect,” Gordo says of the album. “It’s the most emotional project I’ve worked on in my life. It features work from artists I’ve looked up to and those who inspire me, some I’ve known for years and others I’ve met more recently.”

The album opens with “Guard Down,” a contemplative track featuring &ME and vocals by Alice Aera, showcasing GORDO’s signature manipulation of vocal pitches. Notable tracks include “Sideways” with Drake and “Honeyland” featuring Afshin Momadi, transitioning smoothly into dancefloor-ready beats. “Easier” with Rampa and “Target” featuring T-Pain highlight GORDO’s creative risk-taking, while “Lake Como” with Larry June offers a subtle yet profound impact.

The album’s narrative intertwines with GORDO’s Nicaraguan-American roots, celebrating his heritage through tracks like “Cafecito” and “Parcera,” featuring Nicki Nicole and Maluma. The album’s finale includes “WDYM” with Karolina Falk and “Aura” with NTO, blending melodic techno and heartfelt melodies.

“My grandmother is my best friend. During the pandemic, I moved to Hawaii with her, and for most of that time, it was just the two of us. This was when GORDO came to life and when I began working on most of the songs on the album. Each and every song on ‘DIAMANTE’ received her seal of approval. She’s such an inspiration to me, especially in the way she took care of her family during so many difficult times. That’s why I’m dedicating this album to her, my family, friends, and loved ones,” says GORDO

As GORDO prepares to release DIAMANTE, the album promises to be a pivotal moment in his career, inviting fans to experience his unique musical vision and personal journey.

Drake’s Long-Anticipated Gordo Collab Finally Has A Release Date

Drake and Gordo have a strong track record together. The rapper and producer have worked together on “Sticky,” “Massive” and “Rich Baby Daddy” among several others. Gordo was a big influence on Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind, an album that’s slowly developing a cult fandom. He’s also been touting another Drake collab for months. The producer posted a photo alongside the 6 God back in May. He seemingly cried wolf again when he posted an IG Story with the text “July 12.” Thankfully, a proper release date for their collab has finally dropped. And it’s soon.

Gordo will release his debut solo album, Diamante, on July 26. The album boasts a star-studded tracklist, with features from the likes of Feid and T-Pain but Drake is the real standout. The Toronto rapper will not only feature on the song “Sideways,” but reportedly served as a consultant on the album overall. Gordo discussed this unique partnership during a recent profile with Rolling Stone. If Drake says, ‘This is it, and this is what you should listen to, this is what I listen to, and this is an incredible piece of work,” he stated. “He rides for me that heavy and he’s letting the world know that, then that says a lot.”

Drake Was A Creative Consultant On Gordo’s Album

Gordo promises that Diamante will be a wide-ranging album in terms of sound. He will incorporate all of the musical genres he listens to, despite primarily being known for his hip-hop production. “It’s so hard when you’re talking to a guy like me,” he told the outlet. “Because I’m trying to keep up with rap, with dance music, house, with techno, with Mexican corridos. Everyone here is doing their job.” While the vision for the album is undoubtedly his, Gordo again praised Drake for working with him, and providing his expertise on songs in which he wasn’t even involved.

Obviously, Drake has been busy with other things in 2024. The Kendrick Lamar battle being the most obvious of these distractions. Gordo also mentioned the battle, and how little it ultimately means for the rapper’s musical legacy. “F*ck all the bullsh*t to the side with everything that’s happening right now,” the producer asserted. “Drake is Drake, right.” The Gordo and Drake collab will be track two on Diamante. The last track is being kept a secret, with many fans hoping that the 6 God pops up a second time.

Gordo Seemingly Teases New Drake Music By Posting Cryptic Release Date

Gordo has really come up in the 2020s. He’s been a DJ for nearly twenty years, but his collabs with Drake have introduced him to a whole new audience. Unsurprisingly, Gordo and Drake have stayed in touch, and continued to collaborate. The former went as far as to suggest that a new collab is going to drop by the end of the week. He posted a video and a photo with the text: “July 12” written over them. The content in both posts is either a supreme case of trolling or a true tease of new Drake.

The video that Gordo posted on his Instagram was taken from the Flagrant podcast. The producer does not appear in the video, but Andrew Schulz and the rest of the panel make reference to him working with Drizzy. “[Drake] does something like that,” the panelist explained. “He did it with Gordo. He saw that this is what people are f**cking with and did it.” The aforementioned photo is even more blatantly meant to evoke the 6 God. It’s a photo of Drake’s Toronto mansion, taken from the inside of a vehicle. July 12 is written across the top of both posts, which aligns with standard Friday rollout for new music.

Gordo Has Been Hinting At New Drake Music Since May

It’s worth noting that Gordo has cried wolf before. In May, the producer posted a photo alongside Drake with the caption: “You guys reader for summer 2024…” It stirred up so much hype that the IG photo was reposted by DJ Akademiks. As we all know, there was no new Gardo and Drake that followed. A generous reading would be that the release was delayed, and that the song Gardo was referencing is actually the one he’s teasing for July 12. If this Friday comes and goes with nothing from either artist, however, then Gordo credibility as a source will start to wane.

Gordo isn’t the only one claiming new Drake music is on the way. DJ Akademiks claimed that fans should get ready during a Twitch stream on July 8. In contrast to Gordo, Akademiks’ claim was plain and simple. “Drake new music otw,” he told his viewers. “And it’s fye… trust me.” The internet personality has been so adamant about the impending release that he’s actually shot down rumors from other outlets. When fans theorized that Drake would be sampling Michael Jackson’s “Man In the Mirror,” Ak stomped on the story. “Not true,” he tweeted. The good news is, fans won’t have to wait much longer.

Drake & Gordo Tease New Music Coming Very Soon

While some folks are still commenting on the Kendrick Lamar battle, it seems like Drake’s prerogative is to move on and stay in the studio. Moreover, he and Gordo recently teased new music coming in summer 2024 through the latter’s Instagram Story. For those unaware, Gordo (previously known as DJ Carnage or simply Carnage) is a Guatemalan-American electronic dance music producer and DJ who, during the early to mid-2010s, pioneered the festival trap sound in the mainstream and found a lot of genre-crossing and insular success. He eventually transitioned more into deep tech house, which led to various production credits on albums like the Toronto superstar’s Honestly Nevermind.

As such, this should be very exciting for Drake fans looking for sunnier vibes and catchy hits, as it seems like they will be here all summer. Not only that, but this follows his recent feature on the track “U My Everything” off of Sexyy Red’s new project, In Sexyy We Trust. Thanks to the cheeky lyrical content, Drizzy rapping over Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” diss beat, and the timing of its release, folks can’t help but place it in the context of the Kendrick Lamar beef. A lot of folks think that this was the right angle to take, whereas others think that he’s just digging his grave further.

Gordo Teases New Summer 2024 Music With Drake

Wherever you fall on that spectrum, one thing’s for sure: most rap fans can enjoy both artists’ music regardless, but there are some fans who -– as DJ Akademiks recently expressed -– are too biased. “Fans swear this Drake Kendrick issue is like gang banging,” he shared on Twitter after fans called his Drake fandom out after he quoted “Not Like Us” in a tweet. “U a lame a** fan if u can’t like ‘Not Like Us,’ ‘Push Ups’ ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Family Matters’ all at the same time. Them rappers made 10s of millions wit their beef .. don’t be that invested it ain’t that serious.”

Meanwhile, it’s possible that some of the other targets in that back-and-forth might still respond and want to escalate things. For example, many think that YG responded to Drake’s reference to him on “Family Matters” on his new single “Weird.” Will the OVO mogul take some bars out of his summer work with Gordo and others to keep it up or is it still too early for his inevitable subliminals? Only time will tell, and we hope that the electronic producer crafts some killer jams.

Drake Producer Gordo Hypes Up His Kendrick Lamar Response

Gordo has become a staple on Drake’s 2020s catalog. The Guatemalan producer produced four tracks on Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind, and co-produced the single “Rich Baby Daddy” off For All the Dogs. He knows what he’s talking about when it comes to Drake’s creative process. This is why we’re excited to see that Gordo is cranking up the hype machine for the rapper’s upcoming response to Kendrick Lamar. Based on Lamar’s last two disses, the quality level is going to have to be high.

Kendrick Lamar shocked the world (again) on May 3 when he dropped the diss song “6:16 In L.A.” The song is the second diss aimed at Drake within a week, and borrows the title format of Drake’s beloved timestamp songs. At least, it attempts to (the song doesn’t match Drake’s AM/PM pattern). We digress. “6:16 In L.A.” was an Instagram exclusive, which led Gordo to post an ominous comment under the song. “The world is not ready,” he wrote. This falls in line with a similar comment made by 50 Cent. The rapper, who has been supporting Drake throughout the battle, claimed that there was a “bomb” on the way. “Oh sh*t it’s lit Kendrick went again,” he wrote. “I heard Drake got a [bomb] waiting.”

Gordo Is Excited For Drake To Clap Back

People firmly planted on the team Kendrick side of things can dismiss Gordo’s claims. Those wanting to see the battle continue to escalate, however, will be thrilled. Gordo has spoken highly of Drake’s musical abilities for years, as evidenced by his 2022 interview with GQ. The producer’s ties to the beef become more interesting when considering his proximity to “First Person Shooter.” Gordo didn’t actually work on the song, but he told the outlet that he was present the night Drake and J. Cole recorded it.

I texted [Drake], and when he replied at 4pm I was already in the kitchen at his house,” the producer recalled. “I played him the beat [for “Sticky”] and he was like, ‘Woah.’ At that moment J. Cole walked in because he was at the house playing basketball. They recorded that night.” The collab between Drake and Cole is credited with jumpstarting the Kendrick Lamar battle. This theory gained even more traction on May 2, when DJ Akademiks revealed that Lamar was originally supposed to be on the song. Lamar turned down the offer, and promptly dissed the other two rappers on “Like That.” It sounds like Gordo has a front row seat to what comes next.

GORDO Lays Down A House Beat For Young Dolph On “Kill For This S***”

Young Dolph’s legacy in hip-hop was assuredly never fade. The Memphis rapper has heavily influenced the new sound of the city. It has helped make it one of the hottest spots for hip-hop stars, making it an established hub for the genre. It will be three years on November 17 since his untimely passing and the fans miss him more and more every day. Today, we have another posthumous track as Young Dolph and GORDO are teaming up for “Kill For This S***.”

GORDO may not sound familiar to many, but maybe referring to him as Carnage or DJ Carnage will help. The multi-genre producer has worked with some of the topflight rappers in the game from Migos, Young Thug, and more. This now GORDO’s first collaboration with Dolph and it is not your typical Memphis trap track. The Guatemalan-American DJ works in the EDM and house lanes too and that is the direction for “Kill For This S***.”

Listen To “Kill For This S***” By GORDO & Young Dolph

Unfortunately, while it is unique to hear Dolph over a house instrumental, the song does not go anywhere. It repeats the chorus twice, which is repetitive itself. It has the typical fast drums and synths and a beat drop or two. While we can respect the effort, it just does not land all that much.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Kill For This S***,” By GORDO and Young Dolph? Do you like hearing him over a house beat, why or why not? Is GORDO one of the more talented producers we have going in hip-hop? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding GORDO and Young Dolph. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

GORDO Announces Five-Hour Dance Set for Pershing Square in Los Angeles

GORDO LA 1080x1350 Feed

GORDO, formerly known as Carnage, has set his eyes on Pershing Square in Los Angeles for a solo gig on Saturday, August 20. The show is in collaboration with Framework, one of America’s top underground house music event producers.

GORDO continues to rule the West Coast after last week’s TARAKA San Francisco announcement, which sold out in less than two hours. He has plans to turn Los Angeles’ Pershing Square into a tech-house mecca. GORDO will lead attendees on a five-hour dance journey during the event that will be infused with musical influences from his recent European Summer Tour, which saw him perform in cities including Ibiza, Tel Aviv, Athens, Mallorca, Mykonos, Helsinki, Berlin, and Vienna.

As GORDO makes his way to Los Angeles with a jam-packed discography of tech-heavy sounds, Pershing Square will add to its illustrious lineup of performances, which has previously included bands like Hot Since 82, Solomun, Four Tet, and Floating Points.

The park, which is in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, will be transformed into the best outdoor sanctuary for dance music. Before Pershing Square closes to undergo renovation, GORDO has the distinction of performing the last show there.

Three months after ending his run as Carnage with a sold-out “Thank You” tour that began at the Avalon Hollywood, moved on to take over New York City, and finished in Houston, Texas, Diamanté Blackmon returns to the city with new vitality, a new sound, a new name, and an entirely different musical experience. GORDO is ready to deliver a legendary and unforgettable performance as he now fuses his ever-expanding enthusiasm for house music with some of Europe’s finest musical inspirations. He just returned from his European Summer Tour.

Pre-sale starts this Thursday, July 28th, at 10 AM PST followed by the General On Sale.  Tickets will be available here on Thursday.
