Angel Reese has packed a lifetime of bucket list items into six weeks. The former LSU star finished her storied collegiate basketball career, declared for the WNBA Draft in Vogue, went No. 7 overall to the Chicago Sky, attended the 2024 Met Gala, received support from Latto at her WNBA debut on May 15, and contributed to Chicago’s first win of the season on May 18. Somehow, Reese outdid herself yet again on Sunday night, May 19.

Reese posted a TikTok with Megan Thee Stallion, soundtracked by Meg’s “Girls In The Hood,” as Hot Girl Meg’s Hot Girl Summer Tour rolled through Chicago’s United Center. As relayed by Chicago Tribune reporter Julia Poe on X (formerly Twitter), Reese had stated at WNBA media day that the top celebrities she’d like to meet were Michael Jordan and Megan Thee Stallion. It took Reese less than a month to check one off the list.

As if meeting Meg and making a TikTok weren’t enough, GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion welcomed Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates to the stage during the concert. Meg twerked on Reese, which feels like some sort of coronation, according to several fan-taken videos circulating on X.

The Hot Girl Summer Tour is due next at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, May 21, and here’s to hoping she makes a habit out of bringing out WNBA teams at her remaining shows.

GloRilla & Snoop Dogg Have A Trippy Smoke Sesh In “High AF” Music Video

Many felt that GloRilla was trailing off a bit in 2023 after not having a hit for quite some time. However, the script has been flipped on its head in 2024 so far. The rowdy Memphis, Tennessee rapper has changed that narrative with her new mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang. Led by the February lead single “Yeah Glo!” and her first-ever collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “Wanna Be,” it was one of the stronger releases in April. Undoubtedly, the latter is a song of the summer candidate as it sure to be played at loads of outdoor parties and clubs. On top of notching that track with the Texas femcee, they are now touring together. Now, GloRilla can check off working with Snoop Dogg off her list with the music video for “High AF” out.

This is now the third cut to receive the visual treatment, as the two promotional records are the others to have some. “High AF” is self-explanatory, as Big Glo raps about recreational smoking and the common side effects. The accompanying music video does a hilarious job at bringing the lyrics to life. Consequently, there is a scene in which GloRilla is “cooking” some weed over a stovetop.

Furthermore, she gives the visuals some weed street cred by calling on smoking legend Snoop Dogg. He makes a few cameos throughout, showing off his new spiked beverage, Gin & Juice, in the process. It is a enjoyable and laid-back music video that turns out was much needed. You can check out the visuals for “High AF” with the link above.

What are your thoughts on GloRilla getting Snoop Dogg to appear in her brand-new music video for “High AF?” Do you think the Memphis MC is officially back after her latest mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang? Is this the best song from the project, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Megan Thee Stallion & GloRilla Accused Of Shading JT In Music Video BTS, Fans Debate

Fans are accusing Megan Thee Stallion of contributing to the GloRilla and JT beef, but others think that this theory is just being messy. Moreover, it stems from behind the scenes footage from the music video shoot for Meg and Glo’s recent collaboration, in which the two seem to make fun of the City Girl wearing her wig to the side. If you remember, that was a contentious point for both femcees in conflict recently on Twitter, so there’s at least some history here that could link these developments together. However, other fans argued that they filmed this video before that spat, and that the Houston femcee has shouted the Florida rapper out before, so it doesn’t really make sense that this would be shade.

Regardless, a lot of people are running with that narrative, especially as JT finds herself in a few different rap feuds. For example, Sukihana thought she caught some strays and took to Twitter for a callout, taking it on the chin for the most part. Then, Lil Uzi Vert’s boo went full swing at Suki, who responded with a diss track and now seems pretty committed to reciprocating the animosity. It’s been a series of unfortunate events for the most part, as it seems like there’s just a lot of confrontation and burned bridges in the air right now.

Even with this in mind, JT is keen on moving forward and keeping her career going, especially from more of a solo perspective these days. She’s also allegedly not on the best terms right now with her City Girls partner Yung Miami, although this is mostly speculative as well and something that their team seems to have patched up. Still, there’s no telling what’s really going on behind the scenes, and a lot of fans are pretty worried. Hopefully these have all been misunderstandings and surface-level qualms.

Meanwhile, the “OKAY” spitter might address Megan Thee Stallion or GloRilla in the future, but the likelihood of that is anyone’s guess. After all, JT has been pretty selective with who she responds to and what issues she leaves behind. Maybe she attempts to fully dive in or just let it slide and die out. Either way, it’s fair to say that this isn’t the feud that some fans predicted, yet there are sadly sides to pick now in this rap beef that could impact many of these relationships.

The Best Hip-Hop Albums Of April 2024

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

For the second monthly installment of The Best Hip-Hop Albums, we had to dig a little deeper than we did in March, thanks in part to fewer releases overall. However, while there were fewer albums from established, well-known acts, plenty of up-and-coming artists took the opportunity to stake their claims on gaining a foothold in the public consciousness.

Thanks to Drake and Kendrick Lamar, it was an uphill battle. While Kendrick’s contribution to their ongoing feud didn’t arrive until the end of the month, Drake’s antics were more than enough to keep us all at our favorite digital water coolers, discussing his distasteful use of AI, and whether he still has the juice to survive another confrontation with a lyrical heavyweight with a longer history of critical support.

But even with those two sucking up all the oxygen, there were still plenty of new releases worth checking out if beef wasn’t your thing. Here are the best hip-hop albums of April 2024.

Anycia — Princess Pop That

Anycia

The Atlanta newcomer got plenty of attention thanks to Latto’s verse on “Back Outside,” but Anycia’s first-ever mixtape bears more than enough proof that she’s bigger than beef. Her herky-jerky flow, smoky vocal timbre, and unabashed bluntness are versatile enough to tackle both boisterous boasts and unfiltered heartbreak, while the choice of production keeps the energy level high through all 14 tracks.

Future & Metro Boomin — We Still Don’t Trust You

future x metro boomin we still don't trust you cover
Future / Metro Boomin

The second half of Future & Metro’s double disc project focuses more on the singing than the rapping, so there was a strong argument that this leaves it in Wongo’s territory, but we did include it in the Best New Hip-Hop of the week, so it qualifies for the month. Besides, thanks to contributions from ASAP Rocky, J. Cole, and Lil Baby, it still has more than enough bars for anyone who wants them.

GloRilla — EhhThang EhhThang

glorilla ehhthang ehhthang
GloRilla

Hip-hop can be a lot of things: Angry, menacing, political, and thoughtful. But I think at its core, what people want most from rap music is for it to be fun. GloRilla understands this and aims to feed this impulse directly on her first mixtape since 2020’s independent P Status. The project allays concerns that she might have been just a one-hit wonder with song of the summer potentiates “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and “Yeah Glo!” while providing introspection on “Aite” and “High AF.” Will you find dizzying feats of virtuoso lyrical gamesmanship here? No. But hip-hop has always been way more than just rappity-rap wordplay and “fight the power” ethos. Sometimes, you just want to turn up. That’s when you turn on GloRilla.

J. Cole — Might Delete Later

j cole might delete later
J. Cole

I also debated not including this one, solely based on Cole’s decision to pull “7 Minute Drill” from DSPs as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Fortunately for him, there are still 11 other solid tracks, including the nostalgic Dipset callback “Ready ’24” and “H.Y.B” with Bas and Central Cee. Intricate wordplay may not be your thing, but Cole’s latest scratches that very specific itch, despite distracting him from following through on his promise to bring The Fall-Off to fruition.

Skilla Baby — The Coldest

Skilla Baby

The Michigan rapper follows up his 2023 collaborative project Controversy with Tee Grizzley with a solid solo effort. The Coldest finds him using his choppy flow to detail his misadventures in the streets with a cool-headed charisma that makes what should be worn-out material sound fresher than ever. A slew of guest stars, from Flo Milli to Rob49, join him on trunk-rattling production, but he never lets anyone steal the spotlight, proving that he’s a star in the making.

Damian Lillard’s Estranged Wife Calls GloRilla Her ‘Sister Wife’

Damian Lillard BALLED in Game 1 of the Milwaukee Bucks series with the Indiana Pacers. Maybe the good luck came from GloRilla, who wore her custom GloLillard jersey.

The team of analysts at Renomowanekasyno conducted calculations on how much GloRilla earns on music platforms such as Spotify. For example, on Spotify, GloRilla had 8,255,472 monthly listeners, generating revenue of $33,021.89. Her most popular track on Spotify, “Tomorrow 2,” has been streamed 151,445,301 times, earning $605,781.20.

The jersey got a response out of Lillard’s estranged wife, Kay’La, who targeted responded when GloRilla previously shot her shot at the point guard. She reposted an image of GloRilla’s recent mugshot.

GloRilla Shot Her Shot With Damian Lillard’s Ex-Wife Wasted No Time Laughing At Her DUI Arrest

GloRilla’s recent arrest for driving under the influence might have some fans worried about her future on “Wanna Be” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming tour, but there is one person who seemed delighted by the news. Kay’La Lillard, NBA star Damian Lillard’s ex-wife, joked about the arrest on Instagram, posting a report from The Shade Room into her Instagram Story, and including the caption “Free GloLillard.” She also threw in the hashtag, “#sisterwife.”

Her jokes stem from the recent NBA All-Star Game this past February, where Glo got a few photos with Dame. She later posted them on her Twitter page (I am never going to call it “X,” not sorry), taking the opportunity to shoot her own shot. ““Who n**** dis is?” she wrote. “Cause I want him #GetEmGlo.” In a later tweet, she trolled, ““Whoever she is can’t whoop me so I really dgaf.” While Dame and Kay’La filed for divorce in October 2023, just after Dame was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, it seems she didn’t appreciate Glo’s comments — or like most people, just found them hilarious.

Meanwhile, when Shannon Sharpe asked Glo if anything happened between her and Damian on his show Club Shay Shay, she played coy. “The halfcourt shot?” she mused, falling back on her now-infamous catchphrase. “You know, at the end of the day, the day gon’ end.”

GloRilla Arrested for DUI in Georgia

GloRilla Tapped as Audiomack's Latest #UpNow Artist

GloRilla had a rough night in Georgia. The CMG rap queen was charged with driving under the influence early Tuesday morning.

GloRilla was pulled over at 4 a.m. after making a U-Turn at a red light. According to TMZ, GloRilla’s car carried an odor of marijuana and alcohol. The “Yeah Glo” rapper admitted she drank before operating the car, took a full field sobriety test, and did not pass. She did not participate in a breathalyzer test.

Additionally, law enforcement noted that her breast was exposed in the traffic stop. She was unaware before they alerted her.

GloRilla’s mugshot is available below.

Kay’La Lillard’s Pokes Fun At Glorilla After DUI Arrest Reports: “Free GloLillard”

In the ever-dynamic realm of celebrity drama, Kayla Lillard, estranged wife of NBA’s Damian Lillard, has entered the chat. In response to Glorilla’s recent arrest on suspicion of DUI in Georgia, Kay’La poked in on the jokes. The rapper, known by her legal name Gloria Hallelujah Woods, found herself in the spotlight after reportedly being apprehended in Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb just outside Atlanta. Amidst this backdrop of legal trouble, Kayla Lillard took to social media to laugh at the situation. Moreover, she reposted Glorilla’s mugshot with a caption that provocatively read “free glolillard,” accompanied by a laughing face emoji and the hashtag “#sisterwife.” “She mad, hurt and taking it out on the wrong person,” one person commented on the situation.

“So Glo got Damian? Is that what she is telling us?” another user questioned. “Girl take that man last name off your name,” another said. The response seemingly stemmed when Glorilla made a bold move a couple weeks ago shooting her shot at Dame. She posted a picture with Damian Lillard during all-star weekend and teasingly questioning his relationship status with the caption, “Who man is this? Cause I want him #getemglo.” She added, “Whoever she is can’t whoop me so I really don’t give af.” Glo’s tone in the social post made it seem as though she really didn’t care who’s man it was. And that she would fight over him.

Kay’La Lillard Makes Fun Of Glo

Furthermore, to truly appreciate the gravity of this unfolding drama, it’s essential to rewind to 2021, when Damian Lillard exchanged vows with his college sweetheart, Kay’La Hanson. They had a star-studded ceremony featuring performances by Snoop Dogg and Common. However, the marital bliss was short-lived, as Damian’s subsequent move from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Milwaukee Bucks in late 2023 signaled the beginning of the end for their relationship. The following divorce proceedings cited “irreconcilable differences” as the catalyst for their separation.

Moreover, Glorilla’s arrest on Tuesday morning (April 16) only served to heighten the tension surrounding this already tumultuous narrative. According to reports from TMZ, officers detected the odor of marijuana and alcohol during a routine traffic stop, leading to Glorilla’s detainment. In an odd twist, it was noted in the police report that Glorilla’s breast was exposed during the encounter, prompting officers to address the situation. Stay tuned to HNHH as the saga of Glorilla, Damian Lillard, and Kayla Lillard unfolds.

GloRilla Was Reportedly Arrested For DUI And Suffered A Wardrobe Malfunction During A Field Sobriety Test

GloRilla was busy online promoting “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion on Wednesday, April 17, so nothing seemed amiss. However, according to TMZ, GloRilla was “arrested and booked […] on suspicion of driving under the influence, consuming and possessing an open alcoholic beverage container, and a separate traffic charge” in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

TMZ obtained the police report, which details that the platinum-certified rapper born Gloria Woods was taken to jail at 6:12 a.m. on Tuesday morning, April 16, but “bonded out a few hours later.” GloRilla suffered “a wardrobe malfunction.” When police wanted GloRilla to submit to a breathalyzer, which GloRilla reportedly “refused,” her “breast slipped out from under her clothes.”

GloRilla had initially been pulled over by police around 4 a.m. EST because she was spotted “making a U-turn at a solid red traffic light.” The reporting police officer claimed GloRilla’s car smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and while GloRilla allegedly admitted that she had been drinking earlier in the evening, “she wouldn’t say how much she’d consumed and insisted she was good to drive.”

The police report states that a field sobriety test was administered, including “the eye-follow test, the walk-and-turn, one-leg balance,” and asking GloRilla to walk in a straight line. As per TMZ, “the cops claim she bombed” most of these sobriety tests and especially struggled with “staying on her feet.”

As of this writing, GloRilla has not publicly commented on this matter.
