It’s been one year since the untimely passing of Three 6 Mafia rapper Gangsta Boo, and DJ Paul, the King of Memphis, took to Instagram on January 1st to share a heartfelt tribute to the late artist.

Gangsta Boo, whose real name was Chantrelle Lola Mitchell, was found unresponsive at her mother’s home in Memphis, Tennessee, on the first day of 2023. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and it was later revealed that she had succumbed to an accidental overdose involving fentanyl, cocaine, and ethanol (alcohol). She was just 43 years old.

DJ Paul Responds To Crunchy Black’s Theory About Gangsta Boo’s Death

Many of those close to Gangsta Boo gained some closure back in June when the Southern starlet’s death was confirmed as an accidental overdose. Despite the official reports, there were still those with suspicions about the circumstances of the situation, including Crunchy Black. Earlier this week, the rapper took to social media with allegations of Gangsta’s brother, E Gutta (or Eric Mitchell), being responsible for her passing. According to Crunchy, his friend’s sibling was resentful of her for not financially supporting him and even spoke about acting out in violence toward Boo during his time in jail.

“I’m bout to reach out to yo whole family and tell them everything you used to be talking about in prison when it came to Boo. Imma start wit your mama because she needs to know her son ain’t shit,” he wrote, turning of plenty of heads his way. Since Black’s damning post, several people in the comments suggest he should turn this information over to the authorities. On Thursday (August 34), DJ Paul confirmed that what the 49-year-old is talking about is already common knowledge among police.

DJ Paul Suggests Authorities Are Aware of Suspicion Surrounding Gangsta Boo’s Brother

“They have it,” the Three 6 Mafia co-founder commented on an IG post. “They have her phone and they know who did it.” Paul didn’t explicitly name Gutta as the person responsible for Gangsta’s death, but he didn’t deny Black’s allegations either. As the story continues to gain more traction, only time will tell if authorities have enough evidence to make a case against Mitchell for allegedly killing his sister.

Hip hop fans all across the world were startled by Gangsta Boo’s sudden death at the beginning of the year. After she appeared on Celebrity Marriage Boot Camp, many people expressed worry for her wellbeing. Six months after her unexpected demise, the cause of death was made public.

The Memphis rapper’s death was determined to be the result of an accidental overdose, according to Action News 5. She allegedly overdosed on fentanyl, cocaine, and ethanol (alcohol), according to the report.

Now, Black is pointing out how her brother may have been behind her death. Black highlighted a comment on Instagram directed at her brother, where a fellow former inmate of Gutta stated he recalled Gutta’s distate for his sister.

After posting the comment originally, Crunchy Black returned with a second post.

“I’m Never Scared and I want Just[ice] for Gangster boo,” Black wrote. “B—- Ass N—- kill this sister because she wasn’t able to do things for his b—- ass when he was in jail.”

Rapper Gangsta Boo’s Cause Of Death Revealed

Gangsta Boo‘s untimely passing at the top of the year shocked hip hop fans everywhere. Following her appearance on Celebrity Marriage Boot Camp—many were concerned about her well being. Now the cause of death has been revealed six months after her sudden passing.

Action News 5 reports that the Memphis rapper’s death was ruled an accidental overdose per an autopsy report that was released on Wednesday.

The report claimed she overdosed on fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol (alcohol).

Gangsta Boo (real name Lola Chantrelle Mitchell) passed away on New Year’s Day at the age of 43. She was discovered unresponsive at her mother’s home in Memphis and pronounced dead at the scene.

Following her death, Gangsta Boo’s mother issued a statement about her daughter’s untimely demise.

“The Mitchell family would like to thank everyone for their condolences regarding the untimely death of Lola ‘Gangsta Boo’ Mitchell,” she told FOX 13 Memphis at the time. “The family is asking for your continued prayers and privacy as we process the loss of our loved one.”

Earlier this year, it was announced a posthumous Gangsta Boo album will be released on August 7 on what would have been the rapper’s 44th birthday.
