ScHoolboy Q admittedly hasn’t spent much time in the studio lately, as he continues to revel in the success of his latest album Blue Lips. Regardless, he recently linked up with Kenny Beats for a new episode of The Cave. While he revealed early on in the episode that he didn’t even plan on rapping at all, he was quick to go back on that, perhaps even a bit too quickly.
He got in the booth without Kenny noticing and started to freestyle before he was even finished with the beat. Kenny seemed like he was pushing for another go with a finished beat, but ScHoolboy Q wasn’t interested. According to him, he’s been rapping a lot lately and didn’t think he had much left in him. Fortunately, he felt confident that he had “aced that motherf*cker,” dubbing it the “verse of the year.” The duo then chatted for a bit about how they met, Q refusing to share his weed, Kendrick Lamar, and more. Check out the full episode below.
While ScHoolboy Q has seen quite a bit of success with his own music, he remains critical of the industry at large, recently chiming into a debate about streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. Last month, he took to Twitter/X to share his take on where he thinks things are currently headed. “THe rap industry firing everybody… god lee…. THey bout to fire all deez cats at tHese streaming sites next.. radio bye .. sum How sum way tHo US RAPPERS gone f*ck it up and give sumbody else power once again,” he wrote, amassing thousands of views and comments.

On March 20th, Big Sean made waves online when he released his new freestyle “Whole Time” on social media platforms X and Instagram, along with new visuals. Setting the tone for the release of “Precision,” which arrived two days later, the track’s video features the Detroit MC dropping bar after bar as he walks around a room in his LA home. “Whole Time” uses a slowed-down sample of Pharcyde’s classic beat on “Drop” by J. Dilla. It’s laced with smart, witty writing, and a few jabs here and there. However, some lines stand out as the best on the track — affirming Sean’s position as one of the greats. Clearly, Big Sean is back, and here are seven of the best bars.
“I Just Haven’t Had The Energy To Compete With Enemies / Or Y’all So Called Bigger Three”
Big Sean opens the “Whole Time” freestyle admitting how inconsistent his career has been without necessarily stating the cause. Nonetheless, he quickly makes it known that he is not in competition with anyone. “I just haven’t had the energy to compete with enemies / Or y’all so-called bigger three,” he raps. Naturally, many who have seen this quickly compared it to Kendrick Lamar’s bombshell in his surprise cameo for Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” where he goes: “Motherf*ck the Big Three…it’s just f*ck the big three…it’s just big me…” However, there is little chance Kendrick could have been sneak dissing Big Sean, considering he would have submitted his verse long before Sean’s freestyle, though many joked that his scathing verse on “Like That” overshadowed the release of “Precision.”
“Every Verse I Lay, Fans Love To Say Man N***as Is Sleep / But 200 Million Records Up Tho, It Isn’t A Dream / Even If You Was My Son, You Couldn’t Belittle Me”
A fan of double entendres, Big Sean makes it clear in his freestyle that he won’t be put down or underestimated, even if he never achieved similar commercial success as a few of his peers. He quickly brags that he has an undeniable impact, selling over 200 million records throughout his career. On the flip side, Big Sean and his longtime girlfriend Jhene Aiko welcomed their baby boy Noah in 2022. Therefore, it’s safe to say that Noah will have to discover his own identity since there can only be one Big Sean.
“How Long You Been Plotting On A B?…Back When You Was a Fly On The Wall And Dropped Out Of School To Help Ye Finish Graduation?”
The theories that Big Sean wrote several songs off Kanye West’s Graduation (without getting credits) continue to swirl around timelines, though it appears that we received confirmation. Top considerations of Big Sean’s Graduation contributions include “Champion,” “I Wonder,” and “Barry Bonds.” Regardless of absent evidence, however, Big Sean may have confirmed it in the “Whole Time” freestyle when he asks about the now-famous bar. This is also quite interesting, considering how important the album is to Ye’s discography. Ye also proclaimed that signing Big Sean to GOOD music was “the worst thing I’ve ever done” on an episode of Drink Champs. Big Sean subsequently retorted that Ye owed him money, when he visited the same podcast, though the two have seemingly squashed any beef between them.
“B.I.G. But Somehow I Need A Shrink”
Big Sean has always been vocal about his struggles with mental health, and he makes a few references throughout the freestyle. “I used to be held back and hide behind fear / but F.E.A.R is just false evidence appearing real,” he spits. However, none hit harder than “B.I.G. but somehow I need a shrink.” It’s pretty self-explanatory, but it’s been commended for his vulnerability.
“Since The Pow Chain, Setting Trends”
Sean seemingly intended this bar on “Whole Time” for the cultured fans. Although Hip Hop now transcends genres, it is still a lifestyle and a statement, and Big Sean was the first to speak Pow Chains into existence. He disclosed how he started the Pow Chain trend in a 2012 interview with GQ. “Verbal from the Teriyaki Boyz in Japan gave me and Kanye samples,” he said. “We were the first people to have it. Then I became homies with Verbal, and I told him it’d be so tight to have these iced-out and a little bigger… Chris Brown came up to me and was like, ‘Yo, I try to get my chains like this.’”
“Living A Dream Inside of a Dream / I Feel Like I’m Leo Inside Of Inception”
Sean speeds up his flow numerous times in “Whole Time,” like with his Inception bar. However, before then, he first dropped this round, “I hate when people tell me it’s never that serious / You ain’t have to shoot your first album cover at Sears.” Rapping in the second person, he makes a few more references to when he first started his career: recording at Earl and A-Tone’s basement and the same studio as J.Dilla in just 30 minutes. The nostalgic walk down memory lane ends with his dedication to growing his career. “Before you made a dollar off of rap / But it was your full-time job though regardless”
“Sh*t, How Long You Knew Your Mind Was A Goldmine?”
Big Sean closes the freestyle in the most self-assured way possible. From the start of his music career, through the downtimes with the label, he has never doubted his talents. “Right now I’m talking to the old Sean / Sh*t, how long you knew was your mind was a goldmine? / Before you got signed? Sh*t, both times? / How long you knew it be like this? / N*gga, the whole time.” Big Sean is cocky all through, and he’s definitely earned the right to be.
Fans believe Jim Jones appears to have dissed Diddy and his associates during a new freestyle for On The Radar. During the freestyle, he raps: “I seen you rap b*tches and rap n****s inside that n***a’s house. Now, you acting different. I should air you n****s out.” When The Neighborhood Talk shared the clip on Instagram, users presumed he was referring to the various allegations against the Bad Boy mogul.
“So everyone was quiet until it was popular to be loud …. Got it!” one fan wrote. Another theorized Jones wasn’t dissing Diddy specifically. “He not shading… he saying people been hangn wit him now they want to act diff. Jim been hangn out wit diddy,” they commented.
After a fourth victim came forward with stories of abuse about Diddy back in December, he released a statement on Instagram. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”, Diddy wrote in all-caps. “FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, I HAVE SAT SILENTLY AND WATCHED PEOPLE TRY TO ASSASSINATE MY CHARACTER, DESTROY MY REPUTATION AND MY LEGACY. SICKENING ACCUSATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE AGAINST ME BY INDIVIDUALS LOOKING FOR A QUICK PAYDAY. LET ME BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR. I DID NOT DO ANY OF THE AWFUL THINGS BEING ALLEGED. I WILL FIGHT FOR MY NAME, MY FAMILY AND FOR THE TRUTH. SEAN DIDDY COMBS.” Since then, even more alleged victims have come forward. Check out Jim Jones’ full appearance on On The Radar below.
Jim Jones Appears To Shade Diddy
Despite Jones’ latest comments, he hasn’t always been at odds with Diddy. Back in 2022, he admitted that he thought a dinner with the legendary industry veteran would be more valuable than $1 million. “A million in cash or a convo wit @diddy,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I always take [the] convo somethings are priceless.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Jim Jones and Diddy on HotNewHipHop.
Big Sean is someone who fans are always looking forward to hearing from. Overall, he is considered to be one of the best rappers in the game right now. However, he doesn’t always get the same respect as guys like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, or even J. Cole. In a competitive genre like rap, this can be a frustrating thing to experience, and while Sean has downplayed these frustrations, they most certainly exist. We know this because he just dropped a new freestyle where he makes mention of the “bigger three.”
“I think where I lack most as an artist is consistency/ I just haven’t had the energy to compete with enemies,” he raps on the song. “Or y’all so-called bigger three/ But every verse I lay, fans love to say, ‘Man, n****s is sleep!’” As you will hear, this mention of the “Big Three” is done over a tinkered-with version of J Dilla’s “Drop” beat for The Pharcyde. It is the perfect canvas for Sean to get these bars off, and it’s clear that he is hungrier than ever to show the world what he can do.
Sean eventually goes on to talk about how he helped Kanye West record Graduation. “Back when you was a fly on the wall/ And dropped out of school to help Ye finish up Graduation/ Back when you hit your first celebrity crush and realized/ There’s badder girls back at home waiting, they just ain’t as famous,” he says on the song. New music from Sean is coming soon, and we’re sure fans are excited to experience it. Hopefully, he drops sooner rather than later.

Rap never seems to run out of tremendous rhymers and writers. Rappers like Saba, Mick Jenkins, and IDK all need to be in the conversation of some of the best in the modern-day landscape. All three have very underrated careers due to their middling exposure to hip-hop fans. But calling them that does not feel right because of how talented they all are. To flex their skills, Saba and the gang dropped some sick verses for their edition of the “Red Bull Spiral Freestyle.”
The energy drink company started this freestyle series about one year ago. If you have not been keeping track, Red Bull is now up to their eleventh installment. The cool thing about these cyphers is that it is all done in one take and every rapper has to navigate the same instrumental. However, that is no problem for Saba, Mick, and IDK.
Listen To “Red Bull Spiral Freestyle” By Saba, Mick Jenkins, & IDK
All three rap with high energy and bravado, while also spitting some introspective bars as well. Take some of Saba’s opening lines for example, “All I wanted in this life was a few thousand a month / Just enough to get by, feed two mouths and a son… They rather us savages, the city is as sad as they come / On the run, we hit the hotel, a few towels and a blunt.” It is really hard to choose the best verse, so check it out to see who you feel gave it their all.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new “Red Bull Spiral Freestyle” by Saba, Mick Jenkins, and IDK? Who had the better showing on this cypher and why? Who would like to hear an album from this year? If you had to rank these three rappers in order from talented to least talented, how would do it? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Come my way like a deacon white gloves if you reaching And I’m practice what I’m preaching These n****s can’t hold water Been a cactus all four seasons who gone hold a flame to me Jango Fett these n****s all the same to me Can’t go left we already know yo game homie
G Herbo is currently dealing with the repercussions of wire fraud conspiracy and another count of making false statements to a federal official. The gritty Chicago rapper is in the midst of serving three years of probation. While it is not an ideal situation, he is “taking accountability” for his actions. “But you know just staying alone, staying the course, and a lot of money for sure. You feel what I’m saying? A lot of money to stay free. At the end of the day, I was taking accountability for a minor role in some s***,” he told Drink Champs.
To help get through this, Herbo is dropping some new music. Part of that output is the new freestyle below called “Get In Wit Me.” He also dropped a Valentine’s Day-themed single “My Baby.” Both of them are available on YouTube only.
“Get In Wit Me” continues to pick up a lot of traction amongst G Herbo’s fan base. It is already up to over 957,000 views, good enough for number eight on trending for music page. This is an interpolation of sorts of Bossman DLow’s song of the same name. That track is also blowing up on the same platform with over 750,000 plays and number two on trending. While this is a great look for G Herbo, he is not going to be stopping there in 2024. He revealed to TMZ that a mixtape called Best Rapper Aliveis in the works.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Get In Wit Me (Freestyle),” by G Herbo? Do you think this will land on his upcoming mixtape Best Rapper Alive? Is this the better song over “My Baby,” why or why not? Who do you want to see on the tape and when do you think it will drop? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding G Herbo. In recent years, DaBaby has increasingly taken to hopping on already existing beats to share some freestyles for his fans. Last year he went on a string of drops touching on some popular songs at the time and it was actually met with acclaim from a lot of his fans. Despite some dwindling commercial numbers from his peak a few years ago, he still has a pretty devoted fanbase. They often swarm his comments on both Instagram and YouTube with positivity for almost anything he drops.
But this time, his fans are coming away from a new freestyle a little more divided. He recently shared a clip of him hopping on the beat from Jay-Z’s “Public Service Announcement.” The song is in the tracklist of his legendary 2003 Black Album and sports one of his most beloved verses. High standards and expectations may be the reason why this song doesn’t seem to be landing with fans in the same way as some of his others. Despite the mixed buzz though, the video has racked up more than 100k views in just a day since it was dropped. Check out the full freestyle below.
Some people who even admit to being fans of DaBaby aren’t crazy about the new freestyle. “Beat dropped n this n*gga started, “skeebedeeboobop awhop bamboo’n”… this wasn’t the beat 4 allat, & I fw DaBaby…but nah lol,” one of the top comments reads. But not all of the comments are negative. “I Been said he one of da hardest in the industry tho” another comment with hundreds of likes reads.
Last week, DaBaby teamed up with That Mexican OT on his second new single of 2024. The track is called “Point Em Out” and was met right away with a pretty positive response from fans. What do you think of DaBaby’s new freestyle? Do you think it’s good enough for the instrumental he chose? Let us know in the comment section below.
Wiz Khalifa is a fan-favorite in the hip-hop community for a lot of reasons. Generally speaking, Wiz is a pretty low-key guy who avoids drama for the most part. His chill personality and easy-going demeanor is something that is quite refreshing in an industry filled with big egos. Another reason why is because the dude is a legend. While he is not a lyrical kind of rapper, he possesses tons of hits and classic mixtapes in his catalog.
Not many can outright say that which is why it is still appreciated that we get new material from Wiz. Fans have had plenty to be happy about over the past few weeks. The Pittsburgh rapper has been very active on YouTube, dropping freestyle upon freestyle. Some of his notable ones include the Veeze co-sign, rapping over his “Not A Drill” beat.
Additionally, Wiz Khalifa also gave 310babii his flowers after dropping some slippery flows over “Soak City.” Now, the veteran is back with a really short one that is out on his Instagram account only, according to HipHopDX. It is maybe a minute long and based on the caption, it is called “Brrrrrun Sum Freestyle.” The video itself is quite hilarious with Wiz making funny faces while getting stoned in the studio. The outro is also a bit goofy with the deep vocal effects. You can check out the video for it above.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new Instagram freestyle from Wiz Khalifa called “Brrrrrun Sum?” Do you think this is a snippet of the freestyle or the full version? What has been your favorite song he has released over the past few weeks and why? Is Wiz making a mini comeback in 2024, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Wiz Khalifa. DaBaby is looking to represent himself in a different light in 2024. For the past couple of years or so, the consensus is that he is one-dimensional. His flows do not change up much at all and the beats are too familiar. In addition, the Cleveland-born spitter has not dropped an album since September 2022. Those narratives are going to continue to be spread until he drops a project with a widespread release.
But, if you are more tapped in than the casual hip-hop fan, you would know that DaBaby has been putting out some killer freestyles as of late. 2023 was an exceptional year for him in that regard. So, what better way to start 2024 than with another fire freestyle? Well, that is exactly what DaBaby has done with “REINTRODUCTION (Freestyle).”
The first line of the first verse is a statement, and it sets the tone for what is about to come. “Allow me to reintroduce myself, n****, it’s Kirk.” Before the true freestyle begins, DaBaby is also talking big saying he is the best rapper right now. If the line and beat sound familiar, that is because he is rapping over JAY-Z’s “PSA” from The Black Album. The reason DaBaby might have done this hearkens back to an interview he did with Shannon Sharpe. He felt that his version of “Jail” from Kanye West’s Donda, was better than Hova’s. That is all speculation but he might be making a statement by rapping over the New York legend’s song.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “REINTRODUCTION,” by DaBaby? Will this be the best song he puts out this year, why or why not? Do you think an album will be coming sometime this year? Is he the best freestyler going right now? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding DaBaby. Quotable Lyrics:
Other n****s, they be lame hatin’ on they brothers, but I learned the game and I run it It’s fourth along in the rain and the wind blowin’, but I’ll make the play on punnet My baba mamas look good with a wig on and they look the same in they bonnet Yeah, I gotta pop it on ’em, put my daughters, your daddy be gettin’ it in After this, I’m done bringin’ other mamas on my kids, they don’t want me mentionin’ them And now name a rap nigga sicker than him
Fabolous is feeling fiery these days for multiple reasons, and an Instagram Story post from Friday (February 2) is the main reason why, fans think. Moreover, he addressed a mystery enemy with some short but scathing statements: “I saved your reputation by only telling my side of the story. Stay humble.” Of course, the New York MC could be talking about anyone here, and fans also have a new piece of “evidence” to unpack for more answers. He released a music video for the “Calling You Up Freestyle” on Saturday (February 3), another reimagining of a recent Drake beat. He flows really well on it, has some sharp and boastful bars, and even references Drizzy’s Her Loss partner 21 S*vage, echoing the Toronto superstar’s own line about the Slaughter Gang spitter on that instrumental.
Alas, there’s not much to gain here when it comes to this unknown feud, as there are little to no bars that seem particularly pointed. That’s not to say it’s not good, as the performance and charisma here is still solid. Furthermore, that’s a talent that Fabolous has always championed and represented, but something that he’s reminding younger generations of a lot these days. For example, another of his recent freestyles is the cut “Snooze,” and it lives up to his Freestyle Friday series’ high bar of quality control.
However, there is one freestyle that opened up some family wounds, namely the installment “Selfish” which seems to address his estranged relationship with his stepdaughter, Taina Williams. “Selfishness will make someone comment under your pic,” Fabolous raps on the song. “When he took care of you and your mama since you were six/ Who selfish?/ Maybe we all are.” Many felt that this was a direct shot at Williams, who blasted him as an absent father in a comment under his 2022 post congratulating his then-two-year-old daughter Journey.
“Calling For You Freestyle”: Watch The Music Video
“This post is hilarious,” Taina expressed along with crying-laughing emojis. “‘Might not know when you going thru it, but you’ll get it at the end’ Is Translation for = I haven’t taken care of my daughter in almost a year & don’t even ask about her well being because IDC. [And] Im bitter & I’m only a father to my two beautiful sons who I can manipulate. Stop playing with the internet.” For more news and the latest updates on Fabolous, stay posted on HNHH.
