Fivio Foreign Is Worried About Gen Z

Fivio Foreign is the latest in a long line of celebrities and public figures to express concern for Gen Z. The New York native is 33 years old, making him a millennial. The rapper came to prominence in 2019 with his single “Big Drip.” He has since collaborated with big artists like Drake and Kanye, cementing his status as a rising star in the rap community. Fivio has recently been teasing new music. However, it seems like the rapper might be having some trouble connecting with young fans. This isn’t specific to Fivio. In fact, many older artists would likely show the same concern for younger generations.

This concern shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. With a little reflection, it becomes clear that this is a pattern of growing pains that happens in every generation. In the early 2000s, Gen X expressed many similar concerns about Millennials. However, the criticisms that the older generations leverage against Gen Z seem more organized than ever. That is likely due to the advent of social media, which allows people to find many like-minded individuals that share their opinions or concerns. With artists like Fivio Foreign speaking out on the issues, they seem all the more important. Some might say it can all be chalked up to growing pains. Still, some of the concerns that people like Fivio voice may have some weight to them.

Fivio Says Kids Are Too Obsessed With Their Phones

Fivio Foreign took to his Twitter today to voice his thoughts on Gen Z. “I really could see the difference between my generation and the new generation,” Fivio tweeted. “Most of these kids is anti-Social & rather b alone with their head in they phone…” Fivio signed off the concerned tweet with a dramatic question: “How do we save em?” The real question is whether or not Gen Z needs saving at all.

Some users that identify as Gen Z took the opportunity to clap back respectfully. One user provided some context on the issues that Fivio raised. “A lot of us new gen people don’t really get the opportunity to go explore, we ended up being sheltered through our phones,” the user explained. “Stuff went digital and the bad sides of life that would effect a kid, like bullying became more prominent, resulting in opting to be more anti-social.” Do you think Fivio’s concerns have merit? Or do you think this is just a sign of aging? Let us know in the comments!

Fivio Foreign asked fans to pray for him, after revealing that complications with his health kept him from performing at this year’s Rolling Loud Concert in California.

The Brooklyn rapper took to Twitter late on Friday night after his scheduled performance on day one of the festival and apologized for missing his set. The fast-rising MC shared this is something he said has never happened in his career.

While he didn’t explain his condition, Fivio explained that he decided to skip Rolling Loud to address ‘what was keeping him from physically being at his best.’

“Apologize to @RollingLoud & everybody who came out to see me I ain’t make it,” he tweeted. “My first time missing a show and I feel so crazy about it but my body dealing w some real issues.. Juss keep me in yah prayers & I’ll hit Tariq up to make it up

Fivio Foreign’s health scare comes days after he shared his thoughts about how the pressures of life can bring on anxiety and depression.

“The reason people deal w depression and trauma and anxiety is cause they tryna take care of the things dat should b taken care of,” he tweeted on February 21, later adding: “I don’t ignore my problems I fix them…”l
Fivio offered some clarification, writing: “Ok lemme resay it for the people dat don’t get it… The folks dat don’t go above and beyond to handle there responsibilities b less depress then us dat do. Don’t worry this mixtape will explain everything..”

Fivio Foreign Apologized For Missing His Rolling Loud Set Amid Health Issues

Fans of New York drill rapper Fivio Foreign were surprised to find that he did not show for his Rolling Loud set today (March 4). Understanding their frustrations, Fivio took to Twitter to apologize for his absence.

“Apologize to @RollingLoud & everybody who came out to see me I ain’t make it,” said Fivio. “My first time missing a show and I feel so crazy about it but my body dealing w some real issues.. Juss keep me in yah prayers.”

While he wasn’t specific about his health issues, he noted last month in a series of tweets that he had been dealing with depression.

But even though he has been dealing with mental health and emotional health issues, he remains true to his passion. During the Grammys last month, he spoke with The Source.

“Hip-Hop means everything,” said Fivio. “When I was growing up and coming outside, it molded me. Taught me how to move and live, dress and feel. It almost means everything to me.”

Hopefully, Fivio gets well soon, as he teased new music shortly after the time planned for his Rolling Loud slot. After rapper Meek Mill tweeted that there hasn’t been “a lot of flame to listen to” lately, Fivio revealed that he has new music on the way.

“Don’t worry gangsta I’m dropping in April,” he said.

Fivio Foreign Claps Back After 22Gz Questions His Street Cred

Fivio Foreign was among the rappers that 22Gz called out this weekend. The “Suburban” rapper went on a tirade on Instagram where he questioned the status of New York’s rap scene. While he undoubtedly helped pioneer the Brooklyn drill sound, he watched other artists, like Fivio Foreign and Pop Smoke, pass him and cement their names in the rap game. However, 22Gz didn’t necessarily take issue with the music itself but rather, the gang ties that many are claiming, specifically, Gangster Disciple Killers.

22Gz declared that the drill scene in New York is officially dead. “Drill music in NYC is over they signing anybody who GDK and they all all trolling dropping rakes like we met before or got sum type of [smoke],” 22 wrote on Instagram. “Some of these kids is enrolled in college and all I ain’t never see none of these kids ya making me hot with the trolling we don’t know yall especially The BX it’s no GDs there how yall so GDK? Stop.”

Fivio Foreign Responds

After 22Gz aired out his grievances surrounding the scene itself, he narrowed in on his issues with a few Brooklyn drill rappers who claimed GDK. “I never seen Fivio Pop Smoke Sleepy Hollow Sha EK Blove TG Crippy Nas EBK Dougie B none of dem how y’all so GDK stop trolling and say yall fans,” he wrote. From there, he also called out Fivio Foreign for getting cozy with King Von’s “wifey,” Asian Doll. “King Von passed away and his dawgs outhere humping his wifey on camera but everybody GDK tho,” 22Gz wrote before criticizing Bobby Shmurda and GS9 for losing their momentum.

Though most other rappers remained quiet, Fivio Foreign popped out and immediately slammed 22Gz. “N***as hide out 4 5 yrs den say nobody seen them [laughing emoj] [laughing emoji] WTF,” he wrote. Afterward, he made it clear that he wasn’t going to air out any business online. “I would never speak on wat me & da guys went thru for this shit.. da streets kno,” he wrote. We’ll see what 22Gz ends up saying in response to Fivio Foreign.

Fivio Foreign stepped onto the Grammys red carpet looking fresh to death, decked out in all pink and even matching pink shades. But this isn’t his first stroll down the legendary award show, the “Big Drip” rapper was nominated last year for his feature on Kanye West’s album Donda, which held its place for Album of the Year. The song “City of Gods” features himself alongside Alicia Keys, a fan favorite from the project.

This year, however, Fivio walked down the carpet nominated for yet another Grammy. This time, it’s his collaboration with Mary J. Blige on Good Morning Gorgeous, which was a contender for Album of the Year. The two worked on “On Top,” a huge moment as both hail from New York.

The Source had the pleasure of speaking with Fivio Foreign on the red carpet, asking him about his collaboration with Nicki Minaj on “We Go Up.”

How are you doing?

I’m doing good. I’m just chillin’. I’m staying blessed. I’m happy to slip through the cracks and make it here. Word.

Check out the pink, who styled you today?

Come on man, my homegirl Jenna. She be hooking me up. I told her I don’t want to go suited and booted or nothing like that, but I still want to keep it classy. She’s like yo, do it like that.

Was this inspired by Cam’Ron / Dipset at all?

You know, I love big bro Cam’Ron. So I could say yeah.

Second Grammy nomination, how does it feel?

I got nominated last year. I’m just blessed, ain’t gon’ lie. Coming from where come from, n*ggas ain’t making it this far. So I snuck little cracks on them, I’m chillin’.

What are you going to do if you win?

Probably drink some Casamigos. [laughs]

Hip-Hop celebrates 50 years this year. What does Hip-Hop mean to you?

Shit, Hip-Hop means everything. When I was growing up and coming outside, it molded me. Taught me how to move and live, dress and feel. It almost means everything to me.

Do you have a favorite artist right now?

Right now, I’m fucking with me. I only listen to me. Drill music!

“We Go Up” is such a banger. How was it working with Nicki Minaj on that?

I ain’t gon’ lie, I was surprised that she was gonna let me rock out like that. I was just so happy she let me rock out, shout out to Nicki.

That verse from her was crazy. Did you feel pressure?

Hell yeah. She had sent me the beat and she had rapped the verse to me, like “Yo, da-da-da.” I’m like “yo, you went crazy!” I just finished up, did what I did and sent it back. When she put it tougher and sent me the finished product, I’m like damn! Crazy. Legend, big sis!
