Icewear Vezzo and DaBaby are repping the Midwest with pride on their brand-new single and first-ever collaboration. “Perfect” is the latest single to be shown off from Icewear’s forthcoming record, Live From The 6. The project is slated for a February 2 release, which is next Friday. This will be the Detroit native’s first album since his 2022 LP, Paint the City (Gangsta Grillz) [feat. DJ Drama].

On this cut, Vezzo and DaBaby are rapping about how they are “perfect” even with all of their missteps in life. The headliner spits on the chorus, “Street n**** but I’m perfect (B****, I’m perfect).” DaBaby does a great job sticking to that theme with some of the opening bars from his verse. When two high-ceiling talents come together for the first time, the excitement for their work rises exponentially. That can be said about Florida youngster Luh Tyler and North Carolina native TiaCorine. Both of these artists began to gain notoriety within the last year and a half. Each of them possesses a pretty idiosyncratic sound, which makes this even more intriguing. Tyler’s voice is raspy and low-key and he can tap into a bunch of unique flows. As for Tia, she is a bit more high-energy.

Their production choices are fairly similar. Tyler and Tia like to go for softer beats but can also ride more traditional trap instrumentals. TiaCorine’s 2023 was pretty quiet. The 30-year-old only came through with two singles that were remixes of her hit “FreakyT.” One of them included Latto. Honestly, this is a very solid effort all around. While Logic and Conway make sense, RiFF could have stuck out like a sore thumb on this cut. He is not known for his lyricism, but rather for his wit and comedic tone. Sure, he can drop a grimier track here and there, however, this is not his usual lane. But, he succeeds here and then some.

Busta Rhymes and Young Thug possess tremendous energy and flow. Both have provided us with amazing cuts over their respective careers. Even though the way they approach a track is quite different, it is sort of shocking that these two have never been on a song together. Additionally, they seem to be friends from an outsider’s perspective. Well, they have finally done it, as they team up for one of Busta’s singles for his upcoming album, BLOCKBUSTA.

The New York legend teased this song a couple of times on his social media, including Instagram. “NEW SINGLE #OK FT. @thuggerthugger1 DROPPING 11.10.23!!” The track features some star-studded production credits from Cool & Dre as well. It really has all the makings of an explosive collaboration.

However, it falls a little flat, unfortunately. That pains us to say that because both are so much fun to listen to. It just is a little too run-of-the-mill for these two. The beat is standard trap fare with some horn samples in the background. It sounds good to the ears, but it is a little too generic. Thug does not bring any of his animated flows and while Busta does rap fast, it is nothing new. Hopefully, though, they can work together again, because they have the potential for greatness.
