Ferg Reveals That He Was Molested At A Young Age

Ferg recently released his new album DAROLD, and it surprised fans that solely expected his trademark aggressive trap and grandiose New York hip-hop. However, the project also held his most introspective and revealing moments to date, such as how the track “Pool” reveals that he was molested as a child at a swimming pool by an older man. “At ten I was drowned and touched when I was in the pool / All the breath left my body where I couldn’t move,” the Harlemn rapper shares on the cut. “Violated, hand on my private by a bigger dude / Seconds felt like forever, really wasn’t cool / When he seen me ’round the block, he’d smile and laugh / As if we had a little secret, and I hated that / Thinking ’bout what he did really made me mad / Even thought about murder, wanted to kill his a**.”

Later on in the verse, Ferg raps about how he told his cousin about this harrowing incident, but how he just made a joke about it one time. The “Demons” MC also opens up about how people called him and his friends “gay” because they were into design, and how both these factors contributed to a toxic sense of masculinity that he’s now trying to shed.

DAROLD‘s “Pool”

In addition, Ferg spoke about his experience during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club. “It was an incident that happened in a pool when I was a young kid and everybody’s around and everything like that,” he remarked to the radio hosts. “For me, it was weird and it was one second, but I was like, why?” The 36-year-old said that someone “way older than [him]” “touched” or “groped” him when he was around nine or ten years old, and that he originally spoke to his cousin because bottling it up made him feel “weird.”

Also, Ferg revealed that he told his mother about it years later after going to the Precious film’s premiere in 2009. Childhood abuse victims shared their experiences at the end of the screening. On The Breakfast Club, he also shared that “Pool” took him eight years to write, and stressed the importance of sharing one’s story. “Everywhere, I feel like this s**t is going on and people are not just going to talk about it,” the multi-hyphenate stated. “I’m like, ‘What am I talking about?’ I didn’t make that happen to me. That s**t ain’t mine to be trying to hold inside.”

Ferg Passionately Dismisses Diddy’s Shocking Allegations

Over the weekend, FERG put out his first studio album in four years with DAROLD. It’s one of his most personal records to date as he recently detailed the idea behind it. “Creating my first album “Trap lord” was an outlet for me being a young black man in the hood facing daily adversities. At one point I even felt like a “lord that was trapped,” he wrote on Instagram. “Reflection led me to becoming more “Hood pope” the enlightened one but I found balance in just being “Darold.” So far, the project has had some good reception online from fans and critics alike. It’s leading to some interviews already too, with FERG popping into The Breakfast Club recently to talk about it.

However, the New York native isn’t necessarily making headlines for his insight on the project. Instead, his comments about Diddy are becoming the story from this sit-down. According to AllHipHop, the music mogul came up in the conversation and it’s ruffling some fans’ feathers. It’s worth noting that Ferg and Diddy have a close relationship dating back to the former’s childhood. They crossed paths thanks to FERG’s late father designing the Bad Boy Records logo.

Ferg Talks Diddy & His New Album Darold With The Breakfast Club

With that in mind, maybe take his subsequent comments with a grain of salt. He was quick to passionately downplay the numerous allegations against the disgraced music figure, saying, “Diddy is my family and I love his family. I don’t know all of what’s going on with this case and everything like that and it’s a bunch of hearsay,” he stated.

“Really it’s like, 1000 bottles of baby oil? What’s that have to do anything with him being a bad man? He’s just a rich man with bunch of baby oil.” As we said, this took some aback, with one YouTube commenter saying, “I don’t think the celebrities realize when they say things like ‘he’s being arrested for being freaky/having baby oils’ it instantly makes people question your character. Yes he’s innocent until proven guilty but there’s a million better ways to say that rather than minimizing the heinous accusations…” At the time of writing, Diddy recently received a court hearing date for his latest bail package. It will happen on November 22 at 2 p.m. in Manhattan.

FERG is sticking by Diddy. Speaking with The Breakfast Club, FERG showed love to Diddy and his family after Charlamagne Tha God asked about the status of their friendship.

“Diddy is my family and I love his family,” FERG said. “I don’t know all of what’s going on with this case and everything like that and it’s a bunch of hearsay. 1000 bottles of baby oil? What’s that have to do anything with him being a bad man? He’s just a rich man with bunch of baby oil.”

The interview was in support of FERG’s highly anticipated album, DAROLD, via RCA Records. Marking his first full project since 2020’s Floor Seats II, DAROLD presents an intimate look into FERG’s life journey, honoring the family members who shaped him, including his mother, father, and grandmother. Named after his birth name, DAROLD explores his past, present, and future, weaving stories of triumph and hardship that define him.

The album’s artwork, a self-portrait painted by FERG, adds a personal touch to the project. DAROLD features collaborations with Future and Mike WiLL Made-It on “Allure,” Coco Jones on “French Tips,” and appearances from icons like Mary J. Blige, Dapper Dan, and Harlem’s own Alumni Ensemble. Through tracks like “Thought I Was Dead,” DAROLD solidifies FERG’s evolution, offering fans an authentic look at his influences and aspirations.

FERG Gives Fans His Most Vulnerable Album Yet With “DAROLD”

FERG is back. The former ASAP Mob standout has been through a lot over the last few years. The most obvious of which is a name change. FERG has dropped from the ASAP from his stage name, which has allowed him to focus more on his craft as an individual. DAROLD, his latest album, is an example of this focus. The rapper manages to take his signature sound and refine it. The attempts to water his singular talents down with mainstream sounds has largely dissipated, and in its place is a batch of fun and off kilter songs.

FERG has generally been viewed as the goofy yin to ASAP Rocky’s yang. The rapper gets a bit more serious on DAROLD, however. Songs like “Casting Spells” and “Pool” are shocking admissions of stress and guilt set to somber, piano-driven beats. “Pool” is an especially poignant song about struggling with the desire to prove oneself as traditionally masculine. It’s a beautiful track, and one that would’ve been inconceivable coming from FERG just five years ago. The production on the album is uniformly stripped down, which proves to be a smart decision. FERG is an expressive emcee, and he sounds best when he has simple beats to anchor his ad-libs. This is evident on the bangers “Allure” and “Thought I Was Dead,” which has nothing to do with the new Tyler, The Creator song of the same name.

Asap Ferg Announces “Darold” Album With Features From Future, Denzel Curry, Mary J. Blige, & More

A$AP Ferg, or shall we say FERG, is prepping to drop a new solo album this Friday called DAROLD. The November 8 release will put an end to an extended LP absence that has lasted for a little over four years now. Floor Seats II was that project, but it was a pretty short listen at just 11 songs and 31 minutes. It’s a formula that he’s seemingly sticking to once again as this body of work will be 11 also and will almost assuredly have a similar runtime. Nevertheless, it’s great to one of the biggest faces of the A$AP Mob back in this setting even with how enjoyable his recent loosies, singles, and features have been lately.

Speaking of singles, FERG has dropped two from it so far, which include “Allure” with Future and Mike WiLL Made-It and “Thought I Was Dead.” The aptly named track is most likely going to be the last one, but it was the perfect cliffhanger for what’s to hopefully come. FERG has been sounding pretty good for the last year or so, so fans should be in for treat with DAROLD. That also may be true in terms of the guests as well because there are some big names on deck.

The New York rapper dropped the tracklist to his Instagram account over the weekend and the East Coast ties are strong here. Him and Denzel Curry will continue to build on their growing connection on “Demons,” so that should be a fun one. Mary J. Blige will make two appearances with her contributions landing on “Casting Spells” and “Chosen.” Multi-talented artist of Harlem Bloody Osiris lands on the opening cut with DD Osama, who is one of New York drill’s youngest faces. But mixing things up regionally are Coco Jones, as well as rising UK singer Elmiene. Overall, it’s a big moment for A$AP Ferg and it should be one of the strongest releases in another strong upcoming weekend for hip-hop.

What are your thoughts on A$AP Ferg’s upcoming Darold album? Which feature do you think will be the strongest? Does this have the possibility to be his best body of work yet? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding A$AP Ferg. Ferg Responds To The Non-Believers On “Thought I Was Dead”

Though he has not released an album in some time, Ferg has kept busy with singles and features. The former A$AP Mob member is seemingly on a mission to prove that he can still be a viable artist on his own, and “Thought I Was Dead” is a direct response to his detractors. The track, co-produced by Lex Luger, Mike WiLL Made-It, and a handful of other names, is a banger. It sounds like something straight out of the mid-2010s, with a big bass and energetic 808s. Ferg flows over the production with a similar energy.

Ferg is lyrically on point as well, delivering brash and boastful lines in a way that fans have come to expect from Harlem rappers. He takes aim at his haters, talks about losing friends, and even takes a moment to call on Sony to begin renegotiating his record deal. The second verse is completely flex-laden, with the bulk of his criticism going to “broke” people before talking about his grind to get to where he is today. Ferg’s last single, the Future-assisted “Allure,” briefly made headlines after fans theorized that Future was taking some subtle digs at Gunna. “Thought I Was Dead” has no such controversial lines, but it is still worth your time. No album has been announced yet, but based on Ferg’s increased output, it is probably not too far away. Stream the new single below.

FERG Returns with New Single “Thought I Was Dead” Ahead of Album Release

Following the success of his recent single “Allure” featuring Future and Mike WiLL Made-It, multi-talented hip-hop artist FERG keeps the momentum going with the release of his latest track, “Thought I Was Dead.”

Released via RCA Records, “Thought I Was Dead” kicks off with a triumphant symphony of horns, transitioning into a powerful trap beat. The accompanying visual, co-directed by FERG and Sage English, showcases FERG adorned in white angel wings, biking through the streets of Harlem. The video cuts between energetic shots of the artist and intimate visuals of his family and community, symbolizing his return to the spotlight.

The single is part of FERG’s upcoming album DAROLD, which will be released on Friday, November 8. The project, his first since 2020’s Floor Seats II, offers an intimate look into FERG’s life, exploring his past, present, and future.

Ferg’s Chest-Beating ‘Thought I Was Dead’ Video Defies The Doubters Who Wrote Him Off

You’d be forgiven for thinking Ferg was finished with music after a relatively quiet last few years — but not by Ferg himself. His latest single, “Thought I Was Dead,” calls out the doubters who wrote him off, defying them with boisterous boasts about his current circumstances over a thunderous, threatening beat produced by Mike Will Made-It. The song’s video opens with Ferg rapping amid brassy instruments decked out in angel wings and a matching durag, but after a beat switch on the bridge, resets to more familiar territory for the Harlemite: The streets of New York, surrounded by homies on ATVs.

“Thought I Was Dead” is the second single from Ferg’s upcoming album Darold. He announced the album’s impending release with “Allure” featuring Future, while his latest update brings the official release date for the self-titled album: Friday, November 8. Meanwhile, he’s been busy as a featured artist this year, as well, appearing on “Hot One” from Denzel Curry and TiaCorrine, and lending an assist to NBA star-turned-rapper Jaylen Brown on Brown’s debut single, “Just Do It.”

With a new nom de plume, a slew of collaborations in the cut, and his comeback album on the way, Ferg is certainly proving those who thought he was dead wrong.

Darold is due on 11/8 via RCA Records.

Ferg & Future Bring Their “Allure” To Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Fire Emoji is back to catch you up on the best new hip-hop releases, and our latest fall update has a lot of energy to run through. Kicking the rollercoaster off is Ferg’s latest single “Allure” featuring Future, a pretty icy and hard-hitting trap cut with some charismatic flows. More importantly, it’s a charismatic meld of the Harlem MC’s confident bravado and Pluto’s woozy croons. Next is the new Lil Durk single “Monitoring Me,” which uses regal chord hits and a slow-moving trap beat to control Smurk’s haphazard flows. Still, it’s one of the more exciting and fresh performances on his behalf in recent years, so we can’t wait for what’s next.

In addition to these new singles, our Fire Emoji also highlights one of the biggest rap albums this week: Tee Grizzley’s Post Traumatic. It’s a very lengthy tracklist, but that means that there are plenty of fulfilled chances for the Detroit spitter to impress. “I Know” featuring Fridayy is a passionate and cavernous ballad fusion, whereas cuts like “Swear To God” featuring Future are much more aggressive and menacing.

As far as some more alternative selections on Fire Emoji, Cochise and Aminé really understood the assignment on their new single, “NASTY.” Thanks to buzzing and persistent bass, frenetic snares, jagged and sporadic synth hits, and some quirky and high-pitched vocal inflections, this is one of the most colorful cuts you’ll find this week. But for those looking for a more lyrical offering, look no further than Benny The Butcher’s “Jesus Arms” with 38 Spesh and Busta Rhymes. It’s a classic combination: wild rhyme schemes, fiery deliveries, a crisp drum break, and a variety of melodic elements to spruce the onslaught up.

When talking about the bubbling underground that’s almost at mainstream levels, Nettspend reps that crowd with the raw and rattling new single “F*CK SWAG.” Finally, we wanted to shout out ian’s new track “End Up Gone” for its simple but engaging beat. Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below.
