Uncle Luke Considers Entering Congressional Race Against Incumbent Florida Democrat

Uncle Luke Reveals He Tested Positive for COVID 19 After Being Peer Pressured to Attend a Party

Miami bass/Hip Hip pioneer Luther Campbell aka Uncle Luke is considering entering politics by running in a local race against an incumbent in his local Florida district, according to reports.

In an interview last weekend with Miami’s The Bulwark, the 2 Live Crew founder explained his decision in considering running for incumbent Democrat Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s 20th Congressional district seat. Campbell said, “I’m living my ideal. I have the opportunity to bring something back to the community…And I get to fight these motherfuckers.”

By “motherfuckers”, Campbell was referring to “Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump, and all these crazy-ass Republicans who want to divide us.”

In anticipation of his bid, Campbell established a political committee in January called “Don’t Stop Get It Get It”.

“Campbell has had informal conversations with political consultants in South Florida to help run his primary campaign,” reports The Bulwark. “He has also been followed around by a Los Angeles-based documentary film crew, whose name he’s keeping secret for now.”

Campbell said he’ll decide whether to run before April 26, which is the race entry deadline in the state of Florida. The primary elections are set August 20.

Today in Hip Hop History: DJ Kool Dropped His Classic Single “Let Me Clear My Throat” 28 Years Ago

On this date in 1996, Washington, D.C.-based DJ Kool dropped his monumental single “Let Me Clear My Throat,” the last single from his debut LP of the same name on the American Recordings/Warner Bros. Blackout! Imprint.

The song’s most prevalent version is recorded live at Philly’s Bahama Bay Club, which is why this version incorporates audience cheers, shouts, and participation in the recording. Produced by Kool, the late DJ Mark The 45 King and Funkmaster Flex, the song contains samples from Kool and the Gang’s “Hollywood Swinging”, Marva Whitleys “Unwind Yourself” and Mark The 45 King’s infectious “The 900 Number”. The song’s title and standard line, “let me clear my throat,” was taken from the Beastie Boys’ “The New Style” from 1986’s Licensed to Ill.

Several American sports teams have used the song for their intros, including the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. After the start of the 2023 MLB season, the Milwaukee Brewers began playing the song in conjunction with their horn at American Family Field, which is sounded after every Brewers home run.

Salute to DJ Kool for creating such a memorable and everlasting piece of Hip Hop history!

WATCH: O.T. Genasis Apologizes To Keyshia Cole During Los Angeles Show

O.T. Genasis' 'I Look Good' is the Soundtrack for New iPhone 13 Commercial

Keyshia Cole deserves all her flowers!

Boasting seven million followers on Instagram alone, the R&B songstress is best known for her extensive catalog of hit records, including “Love,” “I Should Have Cheated,” “Last Night,” “Heaven Sent,” “Let It Go,” and so much more.

On Saturday, March 30th, Keyshia Cole took the main stage at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with Trey Songz, K. Michelle, and Jaheim as the openers. As always, the Oakland native showed out with her looks, rocking long black hair paired with a pink bodysuit and thigh-high boots.

Amidst all her smash records, Keyshia had to represent Southern California one time. The crowd was not ready as she brought out O.T. Genasis, initially to perform his own series of hits such as “Everybody Mad” and “Cut It.” But fans didn’t expect a sincere apology from the Long Beach rapper.

For those who aren’t familiar, Keyshia and O.T. Genasis went at it on social media after she disapproved of his rendition of her song “Love.” O.T. even went as far as to attack her personal hygiene, amongst other shots.

The rest of the show was as eventful, such as Keyshia bringing out Jaheim for “I’ve Changed.” Right before this, she broke down in tears as she announced her newest album, which would be her first release in almost seven years. She also paid tribute to her late mother.

“I wanna say I appreciate you. If you ever bought an album… album eight right now on the way. I wanna give a shout out to my mom Frankie. If you watched the reality show, if you watched her: I just wanna say thank you. You helped change my life. Thank you.”

Offset Brings Out Chloe Bailey At LA Show, Sparks Rumors

If you’ve ever been to an Offset show, you know it’s about to be lit.

On Friday, March 29th, the Migos rapper took the stage at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles during his Set It Off Tour, which was announced in January. This tour supported his most recent solo album, Set It Off, released in October of last year. The project featured standout appearances from Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Future, Cardi B, Mango Foo, Latto, Young Nudy, and Chlöe.

Of course, when you’re in the city of Angels, you know the special guest appearances are about to be stacked. First up was Chicago rapper Polo G, before bringing out Ty Dolla $ign, Rich The Kid, Lil Tecca, and Gunna. Offset and Gunna performed their standout collaboration on “Prada Dem,” who’s official music video has hit over four million views in just two weeks.

The highlight of the evening arrived as Chloe Bailey took the stage, performing their song “Princess Cut.” As always, Chloe slayed in all black with her diamonds shining bright. However, this specific moment has generated a lot of chatter among fans, as Chloe is seen getting up close and personal with Offset. As you can see in the video, she touches his leg and proceeds to park herself right next to him, at one point asking him to sing (hilarious).

Of course, we all know she and Gunna are an item, so it doesn’t seem the romance rumors hold any weight. The two were seen hand in hand after the show.

Looks like we’ll have to sit tight and see what happens!

Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Scores Single Day Record on Spotify

Beyoncé Reveals 'Cowboy Carter' as 'Act II' Album Title

Beyoncé’s new country album Cowboy Carter is a bonafide hit on Spotify.

Here’s the rundown: Cowboy Carter is Spotify’s most-streamed album of 2024. But get this: that’s in just a single day since the highly anticipated release this past Friday. The streaming numbers are pretty nuts. Cowboy Carter has already been streamed 76.13 million times.

Here’s the comparison for context. Beyoncé’s last album, Renaissance, garnered 43 million streams, so Cowboy Carter almost doubled that total.

TMZ also reported that this is the first time a country album has earned that accolade this year on Spotify. Cowboy Carter is also the biggest debut on Spotify from a Black female artist, well, ever.

Before the album broke records on Spotify, “Texas Hold ‘Em” had already been streamed over 200 million times. Insane.

Vic Mensa Gifts Chicago Black Woman-Owned Bookstore a Check To Cover Remaining 2024 Rent

VIC MENSA GIFTS CHICAGO BLACK WOMAN-OWNED BOOKSTORE A CHECK THAT TO COVER REMAINING 2024 RENT

Vic Mensa is doing more good in his hometown of Chicago after yet another donation to a deserving Black-owned small business.

Shadow and Act reported that this month, Mensa visited Da Book Joing, a local Black woman-owned bookstore, where he gifted them a check for $7,200 to lend a helping hand and ensure their shop doesn’t shutter like many small businesses. Now it’s interesting, the bread came via Mensa’s cannabis brand 93 Boyz. The weed business is supposedly the first Black-owned marijuana brand available for public consumption in Chicago. As for the $7,200 donation will cover Da Book Joint’s remaining lease payments for 2024, as reported by Afrotech.

The bookshop’s co-owners, Verlean Singletary and Courtney Woods, founded the store in 2007 with the goal of assisting the youth based on the Southside of Chicago to enhance their literacy and provide a safe place to enjoy their lives. Da Book Joint offers a wide variety of books and hosts events like their “annual book fair with free books and school supplies, book club meetings for the Chicago chapter of NoName Book Club, and Book and Brunch that includes a catered breakfast, a discussion about books, and a free publication to take home for kids, youth and adults” from the Shadow and Act report.

Da Book Shop owners and team appreciated Mensa’s contribution, which came unexpectedly, as they posted the pics on the Gram showing an extensive yellow check thanking him and their supporters. “Hey family! This has officially been the best Wednesday ever! We are thankful. We are honored. We are grateful. We are truly living a dream right now,” from the IG caption. “Thank you so much to @vicmensa and his entire @93boyz team for blessing us today by covering our rent for an entire year. Thank you for seeing our mission and helping us stand in our purpose. You are that breath of fresh air we needed. His generosity ensures our doors stay open for all book lovers and dreamers. This act of kindness touches our hearts deeply and reaffirms the power of community and support.”

The post went on to say, “Thank you, Vic Mensa, for lighting up our world with hope and generosity! 📚💖 More official photos and videos coming! We can’t wait for you to see the phenomenal interview we filmed today!” Here’s the post with the shout out to Vic for lending a helping hand.

Nick Cannon Wears Bunny Costume to Hop Around and Visit His Kids on Easter

Nick Cannon spent time with all 12 of his kids on Easter Sunday. According to Page Six, Cannon put on an Easter bunny suit as he hopped around to see all of his children.

Cannon shared all of the images on Instagram.

Nick Cannon is holding out on another baby. Speaking with PEOPLE, the father of 12 says there is no plans for lucky no. 13.

“It’s so funny, everybody’s always trying to get me to have more kids,” Nick said. “It’s like, 12 ain’t enough?”

He also stated, “I’m chilling right now. There’s no plans on the horizon as of yet.”

If anyone can tell you about all of Nick Cannon’s kids, it’s his brother who says he needs Google to keep up with how many children there are. Cannon’s brother, Gabriel, won the ABC show Claim to Fame in August 2023 and spoke with Entertainment Weekly, revealing he hasn’t met all the children.

“I haven’t met them, but did y’all see what happened with him?” Gabriel said. “He messed up [naming] all his kids, so I’m not even gonna attempt. I’m just uncle. It’s easy.”

When asked how he remembers their names, he replied: “That or Google. They’re all on the internet.”

Nick Cannon was holding down his family this past May taking his twins Monroe and Moroccan to Six Flags. Making their 12th birthday special, Cannon shut down the theme park for the celebration.

Cannon shares the twins with Mariah Carey. He would capture the family experience on Instagram.

“Happy 12th Birthday to my first borns Roc & Roe! 🎉❤ Daddy loves y’all forever!” Cannon wrote.
