WATCH: Drake Sends Shots at Oversized Travis Scott Head on Tour

Travis Scott Joins Drake For 'Sicko Mode' During Toronto Tour Stop

Is Drake and Travis Scott‘s relationship on the rocks? The fallout from the shots fired by Future and Kendrick Lamar toward Drake on the We Don’t Trust You album continues.

In case you have been hiding under a rock, Kendrick Lamar released a verse that was hot, targeting Drake and J. Cole. After the release, social media recalled Travis Scott asking Future and Metro Boomin to play the then-unreleased song at Rolling Loud.

It seems kinda of sketchy, right? Mainly since the song contained a verse targeting his “SICKO MODE” and “MELTDOWN” collaborator. Then there is also the note that Scott is featured on “Type Shit” on the album.

With all of that said Drake may have responded. During the It’s All A Blur tour, there was a floating Travis Scott head prop. During The Boy’s visit to the Tri-State area over the weekend, Drake acted as if he was shooting Scott’s head, resulting in fireworks exploding around the figure. You can see the moment below.

Legal Battle Ensues Between Neptunes Members Pharrell and Chad Hugo Over Trademarks

Screen Shot 2024 04 01 at 3.29.20 PM

A legal dispute has erupted between Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, the renowned duo behind The Neptunes, over the ownership of their trademark. The conflict stems from accusations made by Hugo against Pharrell of attempting to gain complete control of their duo’s trademarks, despite an alleged agreement to share everything equally.

According to a report by Billboard, Hugo’s legal team has raised concerns over Pharrell’s company, PW IP Holdings LLC, filing three applications to register “The Neptunes” as a trademark. Hugo’s lawyer, Kenneth D. Freundlich, highlighted in a legal filing that throughout their over 30-year history, both Hugo and Williams had agreed to divide all assets equally. Freundlich further alleged that Pharrell’s actions in excluding Hugo from the trademark applications amounted to fraud and bad faith.

Pharrell’s team, however, has refuted these claims, stating that they had reached out multiple times to involve Hugo in the ownership and administration of the trademark. Pharrell’s representative expressed surprise at the accusations and reiterated their willingness to ensure that both Pharrell and Hugo share ownership and administration of the trademark.

While attorneys for Pharrell acknowledged that Hugo co-owns The Neptunes name, Hugo’s lawyers argued that Pharrell’s company had attempted to impose burdensome business terms on Hugo regarding the trademarks. The specifics of these terms were not disclosed in Hugo’s filing.

It was revealed that Pharrell’s company had previously trademarked The Neptunes for musical sound recordings, with an application pending for clothing and merchandise. Hugo’s legal team hinted at the possibility of taking further legal action to void these trademarks.

The Neptunes, known for producing hits for artists spanning various genres, have left an indelible mark on the music industry. From working with the likes of the Clipse and Snoop Dogg to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, their contributions have been widely celebrated. Both Pharrell and Hugo were honored with induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

As the legal battle ensues, the future ownership and administration of The Neptunes trademark remain uncertain.

[WATCH] Faizon Love Questions Taraji P. Henson’s $80M Demand Amidst Pay Controversy

Screen Shot 2024 04 01 at 3.15.32 PM

Comedian Faizon Love recently stirred controversy with his remarks questioning the merit of Taraji P. Henson’s demand for an $80 million payday in Hollywood. Love’s comments came during a conversation with VladTV, where they discussed Henson’s dissatisfaction with pay discrepancies in the film industry.

The discussion was sparked by Henson’s interview during the press tour for ‘The Color Purple,’ where she openly expressed her frustration over the unequal payment and recognition she receives compared to her white counterparts in Hollywood. However, Love seemed skeptical about Henson’s demand, asking, “What Taraji P. Henson movie have you seen where she deserves $80M?”

During the conversation with Vlad, Love expressed his discomfort with certain depictions in Henson’s film, suggesting that the quality of her work might not justify such a hefty paycheck. Vlad, on the other hand, speculated that the controversy surrounding ‘The Color Purple’ might have overshadowed Henson’s comments on pay inequality.

As the discussion progressed, Vlad proposed that after decades in the industry, Henson should consider transitioning into producing or creating her own films to have more control over her career and earnings. This suggestion opened up a broader conversation about the complexities of success in Hollywood, especially concerning overseas markets and different genres of films.

Love challenged the notion that action films are inherently more successful internationally, citing examples of his own comedic films that have performed well overseas. This led to a deeper exploration of the global appeal of various genres and the potential for actors like Henson to leverage their talents in different ways to achieve financial and creative success.

The conversation between Love and Vlad highlights the ongoing debate surrounding pay equity and recognition for actors of color in Hollywood.

April Fools’ Day:  A Look at a Seriously Silly Tradition

April Fools’ Day

You might think April Fool’s Day is all about pulling fast ones and cracking jokes, but the roots of this day run deep, blending history and culture.

One theory takes us back to the 16th century in France, where King Charles IX laid down the law by switching up the calendar, moving New Year’s Day from April 1st to January 1st. But not everyone got the memo. So, those still partying like it’s New Year’s on April 1st got dubbed the “April Fools.” Talk about a royal prank!

Now, let’s rewind even further to ancient Rome, where they were all about living it up during the festival of “Hilaria” around the vernal equinox. It was a wild time filled with jesters, masquerades, and general shenanigans. Sound familiar? That’s right – April Fools’ Day might just have roots in these ancient turn-ups.

But hold up, we’re not done yet. Over in India, they got down with Holi, a spring festival that’s all about letting loose and pulling tricks on your squad. It’s like the original April Fools’ vibe but with a spicy twist.

The vibe of renewal and rebirth that comes with spring is what ties all these theories together. April Fools’ Day isn’t just about punking friends and family – it’s a celebration of fresh starts and breaking out of the everyday grind.

And you know hip hop had to put its spin on things. From playful pranks to epic hoaxes, artists and crews have been dropping April Fools’ gems that keep fans on their toes. Remember when Kendrick Lamar announced he was dropping an album of bird calls? Classic.

But it’s not all fun and games. Some folks argue that April Fools’ Day can go too far, causing confusion or hurt feelings. That’s why it’s essential to keep it real and remember that laughter should never come at someone else’s expense.

So, whether you’re scheming up the ultimate prank or dodging the tricks like a pro, remember that April Fools’ Day is about celebrating life’s playful side. Keep it fresh, keep it fun, and above all, keep it hip-hop.
