Fashion Icon Vivienne Westwood Passes Away At 81

The internet is overwhelmed by tributes this evening as people pay respect to Dame Vivienne Westwood. The fashion icon has been rocking runways for decades and is a favorite among the elite. She is also widely considered a power player in the Punk Rock fashion movement, and today, it was reported that Westwood passed away.

According to PEOPLE, the 81-year-old designer and activist was “surrounded by friends and family” when she died. A specific cause of death was not shared, but a statement was given.

“Vivienne continued to do the things she loved, up until the last moment, designing, working on her art, writing her book, and changing the world for the better,” the statement read. “She led an amazing life.”

“I will continue with Vivienne in my heart,” said Westwood’s husband, designer Andreas Kronthaler. “We have been working until the end and she has given me plenty of things to get on with. Thank you darling.”

In the 1970s, Westwood thrived as she pioneered fashion in London’s Punk Rock movement. She pushed the envelope with street styles and took over runways in fashion capitals around the globe.

Next year, her sons and granddaughter will launch The Vivienne Foundation, a non-profit, in her honor. The organization will also support causes that involve ending war, standing for human rights, protesting capitalism, and raising awareness for climate change.

Lupita Nyong’o’s New Boyfriend Selema Masekela Makes His Debut On Her IG: Watch

Following a triumphant return to the screen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever recently, Lupita Nyong’o is feeling on top of the world. So much so, in fact, that the actress is feeling ready to let down her guard and give fans a look at her latest romance.

In the past, the 39-year-old has markedly kept her love life private. Now, however, a spark is burning with Selema Masekela, a famous TV host and sports commentator. On Friday (December 23) she uploaded a video of them together, showing off only a few of their best outfits.

“We just click! @selema #thisismylove #nuff said,” the actress wrote in the caption. The footage is soundtracked by Iniko’s “The King’s Affirmation – Chill Mix” featuring Reuel Williams.

In unison with the music, we see Nyong’o and Masekela correspondingly snapping as they transition from look to look. Firstly, they appear in matching printed robes, but shortly after that they flaunt their figures in purple cheetah print swimwear.

Next, the 51-year-old embodies the sunshine as he steps into a vibrant yellow suit. For her part, the Marvel starlet dons a neutral floral dress with subtle yellow details. The couple looks ready to dance the night away at a wedding, or model together in a luxury campaign.

At this time, very few details are known about how Nyong’o met her match, though she seems undeniably happy and has a certain glow about her in the sweet debut video.

Previously, she was romantically linked to Black Panther costar Michael B. Jordan. As PEOPLE notes, they staged a makeout scene in a photo booth at a 2019 Golden Globes party. Afterward, though, they both denied dating rumours that came their way.

“It’s flattering at the end of the day,” Nyong’o told Entertainment Tonight several years ago. “I think it’s such a rare thing to find people you have good chemistry with and too for us to find each other as actors and get to work together, it makes the work richer that we truly enjoy each other’s company on and off screen.”

SVP Worldwide, the world’s largest consumer sewing machine company, is carrying out a collaboration between its Singer brand and the streetwear label Supreme. Millennials and younger generations have increased the profit margin of second-hand clothing businesses and placed emphasis on their success amidst periods of slow economic growth. This is a chance for SVP Worldwide to tap into a new cohort of home sewers and collectors. 

The Singer SP68 is a computerized sewing machine with an LCD screen displaying stitch images settings and a thread cutter button that saves time by trimming the top and bottom threads. A speed control option aids in the precise control of speed so sewers can utilize the machine to their comfort. Additionally, the machine offers 548 stitch applications with 300 individual stitch options for basic, stretch, and decorative stitches, including 2 lettering fonts. With this partnership, the machine has received a bright red makeover reflecting the classic Supreme aesthetic. 

Dean Brindle, chief marketing officer at SVP Worldwide, said in a statement: “Even as a 171-year-old company, we are continuing to carve our identity. We’ve embraced social media through sewing education, built a digital library of inspirational projects, and created fashion collaborations with Amazon Prime Original Making the Cut, Disney’s Cruella, and now Supreme. The rollout of this product comes right in time for the holidays- perfect for budding designers and fashion-enthusiasts. The Singer x Supreme collaboration is available on the Supreme website and is priced at 568 pounds / $598 US dollars / 668 euros.
