The Weeknd Set for ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Stadium Tour with Doja Cat

The Weeknd has announced the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour, which will kick off in Abel’s hometown of Toronto on Friday, July 8 at the Rogers Centre before hitting America for stops at Soldier Field in Chicago, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and more. The tour will wrap at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles California. This is the first leg of The Weeknd’s massive world tour, with additional dates in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa & the Middle East on the way. Tickets go on sale on March 10.

During The Weeknd’s run across North America he will be joined by Doja Cat.

Verizon’s customer loyalty program Verizon Up will provide an exclusive presale for The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour in the United States. Beginning Monday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. local time and ending Wednesday, March 9th at 10:00 p.m. local time, members will have the first opportunity to purchase presale tickets for select concerts. The World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting global hunger, has teamed up with its Goodwill Ambassador Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye to launch the XO HUMANITARIAN FUND, to which he will donate $1 from every ticket sold in North America from this highly anticipated tour. The Weeknd will also donate $500,000, and World Food Program USA will contribute $1 million to the initiative. The multi-platinum and diamond certified global celebrity launched this fund to support the United Nations World Food Programme’s crucial food aid to people on the verge of starvation in countries such as Ethiopia, Madagascar, and Yemen, driven by his desire to help those in need. World Food Program USA is in charge of the Fund.

The Weeknd will be touring his massive album After Hours (whose hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as the recently released and critically acclaimed album DAWN FM, for the first time in 2022.

The tour will be his most ambitious to date, reflecting the creative journey that has been unfolding for both of these albums, creating worlds within worlds as we’ve all seen unfold in various television performances, music videos, and short films bringing these first two pieces of his trilogy to life.

J. Cole Announces Dreamville Festival Lineup Featuring Lil Baby, Wizkid, Kehlani & More

J. Cole and his Dreamville crew have revealed the whole music lineup for the second edition of Dreamville Festival, which will take place on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 this spring. DreamvilleFest.com has tickets available now

Dreamville Festival will expand to two days this April after a sold-out inaugural one-day event in 2019. The Dreamville Festival is projected to bring in millions of dollars to the local and state economies once again.

Cole has invited some of his favorite musicians and collaborators to join him in his home state of North Carolina for one of the most anticipated music events of the year for his festival’s long-awaited return. On Saturday, Lil Baby will headline, with WizKid, Kehlani, Morray, and Fivio Foreign also performing; on Sunday, DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz will perform for the first time, with Lil Wayne, Jeezy, and T.I., as well as a diverse lineup of artists including Ari Lennox, Moneybagg Yo, Bia, Rico Nasty, Wale, and Larry June, plus a headlining set from J. Cole to close out the weekend.

“We always set out to curate something special. Our Dreamville family has been patiently waiting for the fest’s return and now we’re back with a lineup unlike anything else found in today’s event landscape,” said Dreamville Partner and Festival President Adam Roy.

Cole is bringing together the entire Dreamville Records music roster to play at the enlarged two-day event, which will represent a rare reunion for the label. In addition to Cole, notable Dreamville performers due to perform include Ari Lennox, Bas, J.I.D, EarthGang, Cozz, and Omen, as well as Lute from nearby Charlotte.

Fans at Dreamville Festival 2022 will be treated to a spectacular on-stage reunion from Ja Rule and Ashanti, as well as R&B’s auto-tune pioneer T-Pain, in addition to the launch of the Gangsta Grillz joint performance starring three southern rap superstars and hosted by none other than DJ Drama.

Amazon Music Names Phylicia Fant Head of Music Industry Partnerships

Industry veteran Phylicia Fant is headed to Amazon Music. Fant has been named the head of music industry partnerships, a role created and designed to identify and oversee strategic music partnerships and identify cross-entertainment campaigns. Variety notes she will report to Ryan Redington, Amazon’s Vice President of Music Industry.

After a three-year stint at Sony Music’s Columbia Records, Fant arrives at Amazon Music after a three-year term. While serving as the head of urban music, Fan worked alongside Lil Nas X, Joey Bada$$, Polo G, the Kid Laroi, and more. Before that position, Fant worked at Warner Bros. Records as the senior VP of media & strategic development, assisting Prince, Drake’s OVO Sound, Gucci Mane, and more. Her career also had stops at Motown Records and Universal Music Group. Fant is also the Purple Agency founder and CEO, providing public relations and lifestyle-marketing strategies to Swizz Beatz, Hennessy, Coca-Cola, and a bevy of other clients.

Fant has also been named to the Variety Hitmakers list, numerous Billboard Lists, and won the NAASC NY chapter “Rising Star Award.”

Global One-on-One Breaking Competition Returns To The Birthplace Of Hip Hop

Elite competitive breakers (‘b-boys’ and ‘b-girls’) from all corners of the globe will descend on New York City, where the world’s most highly anticipated annual breaking competition, the Red Bull BC One World Final, will take place on Saturday, November 12 at the Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center.

With over 60 qualifier events hosted across 30 countries, the competition brings together the best in breaking for an electrifying battle on the largest international stage, with the final event featuring a line-up of 16 b-boys and 16 b-girls. Last year’s Red Bull BC One World Final was hosted in Poland with B-Boy Amir from Kazakhstan and B-Girl Logistx from the USA taking the belt. Both will defend their titles at this year’s World Final.

Born on the streets of the Bronx, breaking is one of hip-hop’s four foundational elements, as integral to the expansion of the culture as MCing, DJing, and graffiti. Over nearly five decades, the vibrant local art form has broken beyond New York boroughs and become a worldwide phenomenon, evolving into a gravity-defying hybrid of stylized dance and athletic sport now globally recognized, with a sporting debut set for 2024.

“It fills my heart with pride to see a ghetto born dance transcend beyond the basketball courts outside my Bronx River Projects window. What felt exclusive to our community is now a global sensation and I see every b-boy and b-girl as an extension of the culture,” shares legendary New York City b-boy Alien Ness. “Breaking will continue to evolve, but will remain rooted in an unexplainable essence that connects us. In celebration of breaking’s progression, breakers from across the world will reunite in the art form’s birthplace at this unique moment in history to battle for their chance to be crowned Red Bull BC One World Champion.

Kanye West held his DONDA 2 Experience in Miami on Tuesday night. The superstar and billionaire’s experience featured the likes of The Game, Migos, DaBaby, Future, Pusha T, Baby Keem, Travis Scott, Jack Harlow, Alicia Keys, Fivio Foreign, and more.

The experience was creative directed by Niklas Bildstein Zaar and featured a burning house in the middle of the stadium. The intro to the experience for those watching the live stream was YE’s real-time heartbeat. The stem player, which holds the currently released songs, and those forthcoming, is available online.
