Spice From “L&HH” Blasted For Calling Bambi A “Giraffe” After Erica Mena Scandal

Shortly after the Erica Mena firing from “Love & Hip Hop” for calling Spice a “monkey,” it seems like the zoo isn’t closed just yet. Moreover, Spice herself got some more backlash for calling Bambi a “giraffe” during a recent altercation on the show. As such, fans are now divided: should this be held to the same standards of racism as Mena’s incident or is this just an overblown response? Of course, plenty of people are on either side of the coin, with others arguing that neither insult is appropriate. Regardless, it’s a pretty drama-heavy show, but clearly that backfired in a lot of areas, particularly with the show’s production.

After the Erica Mena outrage, many questioned how networks allow content like this to make it to airwaves in the first place. In fact, some took even more issue with them firing Mena because it was purely a response to fans’ backlash for her comments. Regardless, they waited until after the spectacle to give their verdict, which many saw as exploitative. It’s unclear if this instance with Spice and Bambi will yield similar results, thought assumptions point to “no.”

Fans Divided Over Spice & Bambi Argument

For one, calling a Black person a “monkey” has different racial and negative connotations than calling someone a “giraffe.’ Neither is derogatory on impact, but many fans believe the attack towards Spice followed a history of questionable behavior and statements from Mena. However, there are some circles in which the term “giraffe” can also be derogatory, particularly to people of African descent. As such, context turns something simply brash and argumentative into something much more sinister. Maybe Spice didn’t mean to do so with her insult, but the parallels and proximity between the cases make it hard to overlook.

Meanwhile, she responded to the Erica Mena situation by dismissing claims that she insulted her son. As she puts it, it was more of a question of parenting than anything else. Still, it’s possible she has more to answer for and explain now, but people can sweep hist under the rug more easily than the example against her. With that in mind, stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Spice, Bambi, and the Erica Mena situation.

Spice Breaks Her Silence Amid Erica Mena Slur Controversy

Erica Mena has recently been under fire for a comment she made about Spice during an altercation on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. The two of them got into an argument at a restaurant, and things escalated when Spice brought up Mena’s son. Mena responded by calling Spice a “blue monkey,” and has since been hit with a ton of backlash. The scandal has even resulted in Mena getting booted from the next season of the show.

Various social media users and peers have weighed in on the debacle, with many claiming that Mena’s use of the slur showcased racism or colorism. Now, Spice herself has chimed in, and she seems to agree. The rapper has been facing her own criticism for bringing Mena’s family into their debate, and she hopped on Instagram Live to share her thoughts. “I’m not being ignorant; I’m not playing victim,” she explained. “I am taking full accountability because you said I experienced the racism because I triggered her. So, is that a new thing now in 2023? It’s okay to receive racism as long as you’re angry? I’m just asking. Feel free to let me know.”

Spice Says Backlash Is A Result Of Colorism

Spice continued, sharing a photo of herself with lighter skin. “If I looked like this then some of the Black people who are commenting that it’s okay would not be saying what they’re saying,” she explained. “You can play hypocrite if you want.” She went on to clarify the comment she made about Mena’s family during the argument, noting that she didn’t go after Mena’s son personally, but rather her parenting.

“I would never say anything bad about someone’s child,” she explained. “I have two kids, I have God kids, I love kids.” Spice continued, “I came for Erica’s parenting, and I can take full accountability for that because that’s exactly where I was coming from, because that’s what we were talking about.” Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Spice and Erica Mena.

Now Saucy Santana is speaking up about the clip, claiming that he’s still scary despite what happened. “Ain’t no day a b*tch think they will smack me in my face,” he said in response to a reported threat from the night the video was recorded. Saucy Santana has also found himself caught up in recent Blueface drama, though that one wasn’t by accident. Last week Saucy cosigned Jaidyn Alexis’ new single “Workout.” The shoutout further proved that Jaidyn’s music is succeeding much more than many thought it would. Saucy’s acknowledgment of the song ended up getting reposted by Blueface himself.

Saucy doubled down with another retweet a few days later. Blueface himself made a tweet explaining how much he missed Jaidyn when he’s drunk. Tokyo Toni Sings Defamatory Song About Spice Amid Erica Mena Racism Scandal

Tokyo Toni just threw her hat into the Spice and Erica Mena ring, which is inspiring a lot of debate online over the latter “Love & Hip Hop” star calling the former a “monkey” after she spoke on her kids. Moreover, Toni even wrote a whole song about it that unfortunately perpetuates that insult and justifies its racially charged impact. In a new clip on social media, Angela White (formerly known as Blac Chyna)’s mother hits some dance moves while singing along. “Blue monkey Spice” and “talkin’ on people kids ain’t f***in’ nice” are among the few lyrics on display. Of course, this contributed to already fiery and contested back-and-forths on the Internet about whether Mena’s insult was warranted.

On one hand, many agree with Tokyo Toni that mentioning Erica’s relationship with her kids was a step too far for Spice. On the other, many felt that a wrong doesn’t make a right, and that this is still an egregious comment to make. What’s more is that this incident added to a long history of controversy surrounding Mena’s racial identity and treatment of Black individuals. However, some didn’t even have a set opinion on all this, and just thought that it was strange for Toni to make a song about it in the first place.

Tokyo Toni’s Bizarre Diss Towards Spice

Still, she’s known for being outspoken and unfiltered, such as when he demanded that Tyga pay her daughter’s child support. “@tyga you should be paying child support,” Tokyo Toni expressed on social media. “What kind of man are you? She never asked you for a dime her son. You should be ashamed of yourself. Why are you putting pressure where it doesn’t have to be? You could’ve come in here but you think it’s good don’t you.

“Tyga does not have full custody of my grandson,” she continued. “He has never paid child support in 11 years. It’s about time this boy is growing. Let me put my take on this he has never pay child support and 11 years my daughter takes care of her kids. What woman today would not ask money when you can see that the man is getting money!” For more news and the latest updates on Tokyo Toni, Spice, and Erica Mena, come back to HNHH.

Jess Hilarious Explains Why Erica Mena’s “Monkey” Spice Diss May Not Have Been A Racial Slur

Erica Mena hasn’t had much to say about her recent firing from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, but the rest of the internet has. Cast members, viewers, and fellow celebrities have all been reflecting on the reality show’s decision to let the New Yorker go for calling Spice a “monkey.” A considerable amount of people are in favour of the decision. Some have even condemned Mena after perceiving her word choice as a racial slur. Others, like Jess Hilarious, don’t think that the socialite’s intention is as heinous as the public is making it out to be.

“That’s what I don’t get,” The Breakfast Club host began in her reaction video. “Every time they get into it, Erica Mena, they always bring that s**t up. That’s the only thing they can say about her, is something about her son. That’s what’s f**ked up. What’s wrong with her son?” Hilarious asked. As you may recall, the L&HH women only began feuding after Spice spoke negatively about her co-star’s child, which obviously triggered Mena.

Jess Hilarious Gives Erica Mena the Benefit of the Doubt

“I don’t think Erica was using it as a racial slur,” Jess observed. “Maybe Spice [looks] like a monkey to her. Whatever the f**k you look like, you look like,” the internet personality further insisted. “And the fact that they found it back in the dizzle, and it come on now, and then you choose to fire her for the backlash. You not even protecting your cast like you did,” her rant continued.

Since stepping in for Angela Yee on TBC, Jess Hilarious has brought a welcome female perspective to DJ Envy and Charlamagne’s discussions. Still, the comedian has faced backlash for some of her commentary, particularly surrounding DaniLeigh’s DUI arrest back in the spring. Safaree Speaks On Erica Mena Drama, Reality Star Allegedly Lied About Pregnancy During Atlanta Arrest

As a socialite and reality star, it’s obvious that Erica Mena enjoys being the centre of attention. Unfortunately, recent weeks have found her acting as the star of the news cycle for various unflattering reasons, including a drunken arrest in Atlanta, and making derogatory comments about one of her Love & Hip Hop co-stars. Those closest to Mena have had plenty to say about the situation, with some of them defending her and insisting that she had no ill intent in calling Spice a “monkey.” Others, including her baby daddy, Safaree, seem far less impressed with the New Yorker’s actions.

Surprisingly, the 42-year-old chose to take the high road when sharing his statement on Sunday (September 3). The Hoodstars alum shared a photo posing with his adorable two little ones this afternoon, writing, “My kids need their mother,” in the caption. “My mumma taught me if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all 🙏🏾❤,” Safaree added.

Safaree Wants Erica Mena to Be Around for Their Kids

He then noted that he feels protected by God 24/7, 365 days a year. Thankfully Safaree is able to take care of his family during this difficult time, especially as more troubling details about Mena’s Atlanta arrest have come out. We already reported that she bit an officer during a wild night out with friends, but now, TMZ says that cops heard the embattled entertainer claim to be pregnant, which her lawyer has since debunked. Erica “regrets some of the circumstances of that night,” however an officer admitted to using “unnecessary force” against her in his report as well.

Regardless of what cast members and social media users have to say, L&HH has spoken on the drama surrounding Erica Mena. According to their recent statement, the impact of her hate speech toward Spice will play out in the final few episodes of this season, and the Tubi actress has been fired from any upcoming installments of the show. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Lil Scrappy Walks Back Defense Of Erica Mena After Seeing “Monkey” Clip For Himself

Earlier this week, it was announced that Erica Mena’s time on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta had come to an end. The news broke following the airing of an episode after Mena referred to fellow cast member Spice as a “monkey”. “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out over the final three episodes of the season. Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” read a statement from the show’s producers.

Fans and the wider community have been mixed about the news. While some see it as justified, others see it as exploitative. “They waited until AFTER they recorded it, edited it, promoted it and aired it. Then fired her months after it happened. They tacky,” one person noted. Someone else who initially defended Mena was her co-star, Lil Scrappy. “I think that’s pretty bozo of them to fire somebody after they set shit up. They set you up and put you…they get you all hyped up.” Scrappy went on to note that he doesn’t even “fuck with Erica” and still thought it was a bad look.

However, Scrappy’s tone quickly changed. In a later video, the rapper walked back previous comments. “I just seen the clip and that shit’s fucked up. You know, I don’t ever want to wish someone be fired or put in jail or dead,” Scrappy began. “I don’t want that shit for Erica. But she was wrong. Erica Mena was wrong. Erica Mena was wrong….Colorism is real. We do know that. Racism is real. Hate is real.” It’s clear that, with context, Scrappy wanted no part in defending Mena’s actions.

While her comments towards Spice are the reason she is being fired, it’s not the only issue that Mena is currently facing. Last weekend, Mena was arrested alongside some of her co-stars following a drunken altercation. Facing battery charges amid a litany of other crimes, Mena is currently awaiting a court date while out on a $20,000 bond. The ongoing saga remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.

Erica Mena’s “Monkey” Backlash Leaves Akbar V Confused

Erica Mena has been facing some major backlash for a comment she made on a recent episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. The personality got into a heated argument with Spice at a restaurant, and things escalated when Spice threw a jab at her family life. Spice told Mena that her son “hates” her, prompting her to fire back. It appears as though she took things way too far, however, calling the musician a “blue monkey.” During the dispute, Mena additionally told Spice that she “should have died” amid her recent, nearly-fatal hospitalization. The situation has now resulted in her being removed from the next season of the show.

Countless peers and social media users have shared their thoughts on the incident. While some are defending her use of the slur, most are condemning it. Now, Akbar V has taken to social media to speak on the topic. In a new clip, she claims that she didn’t know the term was a racial slur, further asking “is it cool for Black people to say it?”

Lyrica Anderson Defends Erica Mena’s “Monkey” Comment, Van Lathan Calls Her “Vile”

Erica Mena has recently been under fire for using a racial slur against Spice on an episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. The two of them got into it, and it’s safe to say that things were taken too far. When Spice made a comment about Mena’s family life, she fired back by calling her a “blue monkey.” This has resulted in a great deal of backlash for the personality, and has even led to her being removed from the next season of the show.

The reality star has been hit with a lot of criticism for her use of the slur. Van Lathan also spoke on the incident recently, claiming that it showcases an “anti-Black attitude.” He broke down his take, explaining that her “proximity to Blackness” doesn’t excuse her for having having racist tendencies. “Erica Mena called Spice a ‘monkey,’” Lathan also said. “That is an anti-Black slur, meant to dehumanize Black women, Black people. Until further notice, Erica Mena is a vile, racist woman.”

Though Mena has been facing her fair share of criticism for using the slur, others have come to her defense. Recently, Lyrica Anderson took to social media to share her own thoughts on the situation.
