Mount Westmore Shared Their Picks For A Mount Rushmore Of East Coast Rappers

Some West Coast legends stopped by The People’s Party With Talib Kweli this week. Ice Cube, E-40, and Too Short, of supergroup Mount Westmore (which also includes Snoop Dogg), made an appearance on the web series, on which, they discussed who could parallel them on the opposite side of the country.

On Ice Cube’s Mount Rushmore of East Coast rappers are Jay-Z and Nas. E-40 noted that he would also include Busta Rhymes in the allotted four, citing his innovative craft.

Short admitted that he would switch up his picks every single time, however, would always include “Hip-Hop Hooray” hitmakers Naughty By Nature in his selection.

While each of them had different picks for East Coast GOATs, 40 maintained that the current Mount Rushmore of West Coast rapper is indisputable.

“I haven’t seen not one person argue about us being Mount Westmore,” E-40 said. “Young or old, you can’t.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cube, Short, and 40 spoke about another West Coast legend — Tupac — and what he meant to them. 40 recalled Pac shouting him out on one of his earlier albums, before 40 had blown up.

“If he f*cked with you, he f*cked with you,” said 40. “He was uplifting to females and the urban community as well.”

E-40 Introduces New Soul Food Line of Ice Cream Brand with Chicken & Waffles Flavor

E-40 Introduces New Soul Food Line of Ice Cream Brand with Chicken & Waffles Flavor

E-40 announced the creation of a new soul food line for his “Goon With The Spoon” ice cream business, with the inaugural offering being a unique Chicken & Waffles ice cream flavor.

E-40 collaborated with Flock Chicken Chips to add taste, and then he independently merged restaurant-style waffles, maple syrup, and brown butter super-premium ice cream to make the amazing mixture. Solar power was used to make the ice cream a healthier alternative that does not contain artificial growth hormones.

E-40 also revealed a national distribution arrangement with Walmart to make all his ice cream available online at Walmart.com as part of the announcement.

“I’ve always wanted to create a food brand that reflects diversity and culture, so I’m truly proud to unveil my Soul Food line and my new Chicken & Waffles ice cream flavor. Culinary arts is my passion and, as a Black entrepreneur with a prominent platform, I’m committed to doing my part to bring the worlds of food, culture and entertainment together like never before.”

– E-40

E-40 debuted his new ice cream line earlier this year, which includes six flavors: Cookie Dough, Bourbon Vanilla, Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Mint Chocolate, and Salted Caramel.

E-40 is now attempting to bring music, food, and culture together with a Soul Food expansion of the ice cream business, which includes the Chicken & Waffles flavor. In addition, the hip-hop legend promises to follow it up with a new flavor named “Black Wall Street” in 2023.

As you may know, the “Goon With The Spoon” brand name was inspired by E-40’s music repertoire. In songs like “Back in Business” and “I Get Down (with B-Legit),” he rapped about being a “Goon With The Spoon” as an original metaphor to describe his entrepreneurial hustle and ambition.

Welcome To FrFr Language With Kalan.FrFr

Your favorite rappers aren’t speaking in code; you’re just not hip to their lingo. From onomatopoeias to alliterations, an artist’s chosen lyrical content help tells the stories and paint pictures of music culture from around the globe. West coast rappers have always added their own flair to hip-hop’s dictionary. As corny as it sounds, “fo shizzle/fa shizzle” became the go-to way to say “for sure” thanks to Snoop Dogg’s “Suited N Booted.” And we can’t forget E-40 teaching us how to ghost-ride the whip!

Ready for some new additions to your West coast rap vocabulary? Look no further than Uproxx’s Cherise Johnson’s sitdown with SoCal’s Kalan.FrFr as he decodes phrases like “light speed” from his song “Light Breeze,” the dating moniker “sweet tea,” and the exotic car nickname “toys.” Nevertheless, it’s safe to say Kalan has been on a winning streak all of 2022. His most recent album, 222, which helms production by Hit-Boy, JetsonMade, and more, saw major streaming success. Also, we can’t forget his Made In America set and “TwoFr Tour,” bolstered by appearances from fellow Cali rap homies Blxst and 1Take Jay as well as R&B singer Mario and the enchanting Rubi Rose.

The news comes six months after E-40 introduced his new food brand, “Goon With The Spoon,” and launched it with a range of packed sausages and burritos. He also partnered with Justin Kinder (of Kinders Meats, Deli, and BBQ) to help launch several different sausage flavors for Goon with The Spoon, including Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken Sausage, Philly Cheesesteak Chicken Sausages, Hot Beef Sausages, Mild Beef Sausages, and Choices (Yum) Sausage Bundle, as well as Turf Burritos, as part of his expansion into the culinary industry.

The ice cream is the latest addition to E-40’s burgeoning food and beverage empire. He launched two new wine varieties, Blueberry and Orangesicle, to his powerful “Earl Stevens Selections” wine brands last month, to add to his extensive portfolio of 15+ still and sparkling wines. In 2013, he released the Function Red Blend, which he called after his hit track “Function,” followed by the Sweet RedChardonnayMangoscatoMoscato and Tropiscato, among other wines.
