The Best Bourbon To Pair With Every Drake And Kendrick Diss Track

Rap beef is serious business. The long-simmering animosity between two of rap’s biggest stars, Drake and Kendrick Lamar, has finally come to a head — resulting in scathing diss tracks, countless memes, and even some violent real-world consequences. Because the verbal conflict has taken a bit of a dark turn, it’s probably advisable that all parties involved have a drink or two.

Yes, Kendrick is known to mostly abstain from alcohol and Drake has famously dubbed himself “Champagne Papi,” but the occasion really seems to call for bourbon. And one with some edge.

Bourbon’s boldness pairs perfectly with the brashness of the barbs each emcee sent to his opponent. And spirits are really best appreciated when they match the mood you’re trying to set. While the conflict is at a temporary standstill, you’re probably looking to catch up on every twist and turn, and there’s truly no better way to absorb all the animus and keep score than with the perfect pour.

Follow along for the best bourbons to pair with every Drake and Kendrick Lamar diss track.

Kendrick Lamar “Control” with Booker’s Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 62.25%
Average Price: $125

The Diss: “Control” August 12th, 2013

Prior to Kendrick Lamar’s now-infamous “Control” verse, he and Drake seemingly shared a pretty warm relationship. That all soured when this song was released back in August of 2013. Mentioning Drake by name — among several other of his contemporaries — Kendrick challenged the entire rap game by saying, “What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high. Who tryna jump and get it? You’re better off tryna skydive.”

The Whiskey: Booker’s Springfield Batch, 2024-01

Booker’s is infamous for being the very first barrel-proof bourbon to hit the market in 1988. At the time it was an incredibly bold move, but it set the stage for the trend toward ever-higher ABV’s in American whiskey that persist today. Booker’s Springfield Batch 2024-01 is the first release from the brand in 2024 and will be followed by three more batches this year.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Marked by a floral aspect at first before exhibiting the trademark hazelnut quality that Booker’s is known for, this is a high-heat pour that doesn’t nose like it.

Palate: Once tasted, the interplay of floral flavors and nutty notes are elevated by the emergence of oak tones, allspice, and brown sugar.

Finish: The finish finds even more allspice and a touch of sage as the floral notes begin to crest and take control of the tasting experience.

Bottom Line:

This is the perfect pairing because only Booker’s can match Kendrick’s boldness in releasing “Control” back in 2013 when that particular class of rap stars was much more friend than foe.

Kendrick Lamar “Like That” with Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 46.5%
Average Price: $130

The Diss: “Like That” March 22nd, 2024

Yes, there were several thinly veiled shots exchanged between the rappers in the interim between “Control” and “Like That”, but while he didn’t actually say Drake’s name on this record — it was his most direct diss in over a decade making this the natural follow up to that first shot. In the song, Kendrick spurned the olive branch that Drake’s new bestie, J. Cole, extended on their collaboration “First Person Shooter.” In that song, J. Cole claimed that then rap game’s “Big 3” included himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar.

Rejecting the praise, on “Like That” Kendrick said “motherf*** the Big 3…it’s just big me.” which set the ball in motion for this recent back and forth.

The Whiskey: Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon

Blanton’s is known as “the Original Single Barrel Bourbon” and as such it’s become one of the most wildly popular bourbons on the market today. Each bottle is the product of a single barrel, meaning each bottle will taste slightly different.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: The aroma of candied maple, caramel, and vanilla ice cream jumps out of the glass right away. The mellow sweetness plays well against a backdrop of well-aged oak and fresh clove.

Palate: On the palate Blanton’s has a mellow baking spice presence, with clove and cinnamon leading the way, and rich caramel rounding things out. Nuance is provided by supporting sweet flavors like vanilla ice cream, brown sugar, and flaky pastry notes.

Finish: On the finish is where the gentle oak tones become most evident and they gently recede with the help of gooey butterscotch.

Bottom Line:

“Like That” is an upbeat song that became Future, Kendrick, and Metro Boomin’s first number-one single, and likewise Blanton’s is a runaway success too. The song is a bit light on lyrical sparring and Blanton’s is a bit light in the ABV department, making it easy to enjoy how fun both of them are.

Drake “Push Ups” with Elmer T. Lee

Getty Image

ABV: 45%
Average Price: $330

The Diss: Drake “Push Ups” April 19th, 2024

A low-quality version of Drake’s diss “Push Ups” initially leaked online on April 13th but in April 19th it was released in fully polished CDQ form. On the song, Drake took Kendrick Lamar to task but also directed some of that heat at The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, and Rick Ross for their respective slights.

The Whiskey: Elmer T. Lee

Elmer T. Lee is the man most often credited with “inventing” single-barrel bourbon. While Blanton’s was released first, due to its runaway success the Buffalo Trace Distillery decided to release Elmer T. Lee soon thereafter.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Honey, graham crackers, and wood chips are the notes most evident on the nose. It’s generally restrained, but very focused on those three well-refined notes.

Palate: On the palate there’s plenty of honey-drizzled baklava to go with a touch of toffee, white peach, and youthful oak.

Finish: The finish is short, but reiterates the sweetness found first on the nose and again on the front end of the palate.

Bottom Line:

While it wasn’t the strongest call to arms in the war-of-the-words, “Push Ups” signaled that the battle was on. Following up the commercial success of “Like That” was no easy task, and made more difficult by the still-unexplained leak of “Push Ups” but you can argue that Drake was simply emulating the lightness of Kendrick’s jabs with this one.

That’s similar to how Elmer T. Lee is a light follow-up to Blanton’s.

Drake “Taylor Made Freestyle” with Hancock’s President’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey

Getty Image

ABV: 44.45%
Average Price: $180

The Diss: “Taylor Made Freestyle” April 19th, 2024

Suddenly anxious to engage in the battle that Kendrick Lamar started over a decade prior, Drake took the “Back to Back” route by releasing “Taylor Made Freestyle” shortly after the official release of “Push Ups” hit the web. He raised a few ethical concerns by utilizing AI to use Tupac and Snoop Dogg’s voices in verses for the song.

The Whiskey:

Hancock’s President’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is, to many people, a retread of Elmer T. Lee which itself is a retread of Blanton’s. All three bourbons feature the same mash bill at varying proof points and in the same single-barrel format.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Hancock’s has a touch of nuttiness and a bit more earthiness than its two contemporaries but still showcases notes of maple, honey, and vanilla extract on the nose.

Palate: On the palate this bourbon tacks a bit austere, with a lean mouthfeel. Some toasted coconut flakes can be found beneath the layer of caramel and youthful oak top notes.

Finish: On the finish there’s a bit of nuttiness that reemerges along with more youthful oak. Otherwise, it’s a rather straightforward sipper.

Bottom Line:

You could make the argument that producing Hancock’s is more trouble than it’s worth. Bourbon fans have warmly embraced both Blanton’s and Elmer T. Lee, but Hancock’s is the little brother that you pick for your team just because you’re friends with its more popular older brothers. Similarly, “Taylor Made Freestyle” was a tepid response that Drake eventually removed from the internet under the threat of legal action from Tupac Shakur’s estate.

Kendrick Lamar “euphoria.” with George T. Stagg Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 67.5%
Average Price: $970

The Diss: Kendrick Lamar “euphoria.” April 30th, 2024

The Whiskey: George T. Stagg Bourbon 2023

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Black cherry, rich oak, and Aleppo red pepper flakes come bursting out of the glass. Some molasses, brown sugar, and faintly mesquite notes add intriguing layers to the complexity of the aroma.

Palate: On the palate it begins with the syrupy sweetness of cocktail cherries but is then transformed by a touch of leather, cinnamon, and charred red peppers. The texture is viscous and full of high-octane which, once it settles down, serves to introduce a multitude of robust flavors.

Finish: The finish holds a faint bit of smokiness and barrel char to go with black pepper and a ton of toffee. It lingers long after the last sip which makes savoring it even more enjoyable.

Bottom Line:

George T. Stagg is often considered one of the best, if not the best, bourbons of all time. It is generally one of the boldest bourbons on the market each year and that reputation for exceptional quality and prototypical bourbon brashness has made it a classic in every way. In the same vein, Kendrick Lamar’s “euphoria.” is a scathing takedown that deserves a place among the best diss tracks in rap history — right up there with “Ether” and the West Coast classic, “Hit ‘Em Up.”

Kendrick Lamar “6:16 in LA” with Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 54.1%
Average Price: $65

The Diss: Kendrick Lamar “6:16 in LA” May 3rd, 2024

Taking a page right out of Drake’s playbook, Kendrick released two records back-to-back with “6:16 in LA” hitting his Instagram page in the early hours of May 3rd. Seen at the time as a “bait” record, intended to goad Drake into rushing a response and preempt a more pointed attack, “6:16 in LA” is a strong diss track and a quietly impressive song in its own right.

The Whiskey: Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon

Rare Breed is a batched evergreen product for Wild Turkey. Clocking in at a hefty 116.8 proof, Rare Breed was Wild Turkey’s triumphant answer to the rising popularity of barrel-proof bourbon.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Honeysuckle, bright red cherries, and cinnamon rolls serve to delight the senses after a single whiff of Rare Breed. Given some time to sit, you’ll find well-aged oak, clove, nutmeg, and toasted almonds all elevate the aroma profile of this bourbon.

Palate: The flavors in this whiskey are very clear and well-developed with each of the nosing notes coming through on the palate. Those flavors are bolstered by a bit of cooked apple and pie shell for a robust yet clearly defined cavalcade of flavors.

Finish: Lengthy and lingering, the finish on Rare Breed is deceptively delicious in that it deftly balances sweetness and spice — leaving you wondering which one will last the longest. The answer is typically the spice.

Bottom Line:

For the song “6:16 in LA” Kendrick Lamar achieved several feats at once — laying a trap, producing a high-quality record, and applying real pressure on his opponent in a single swoop. For its part, Rare Breed Bourbon also proves to check a lot of boxes. Rare Breed is a display in exceptional quality — capable of beating bourbons three times the price in blind tastings — but it’s also a case study for affordability and availability with its sub-$100 price point and ubiquity on liquor store shelves making it such an underrated success.

Drake “Family Matters” with Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 59.5%
Average Price: $90

The Diss: Drake “Family Matters” May 3rd, 2024

Facing a growing deficit, Drake swiftly responded to Kendrick’s early-morning assault with “Family Matters.” The beginning of the song was teased on the tail end of “Push Ups” indicating that Drake was indeed prepared for what would come but the impressive diss track also incorporated plenty of new information and some direct responses to “euphoria.” and “6:16 in LA.”

The Whiskey: Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon is often seen as the standard bearer for high-quality, well-aged, cask-strength bourbon. The A124 Batch of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof was aged for 10 years and 9 months — an all-time low for the expression — but at 119 proof it still packs plenty of heat.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: A medley of walnuts, brown sugar, and clove make up the key aroma notes in this bourbon. Given a few waves of the hand, the ethanol dissipates and further aromas of cinnamon and vanilla fill the air.

Palate: On the palate is where the brown sugar and walnuts really make their presence felt. Balancing that earthiness with some warm sugary notes works well and leaves enough room for some slight herbaceousness and baking spice — think cumin and bay leaves — to punch through.

Finish: On the finish is where those baking spice notes like black pepper, cumin, and bay leaves become more evident, along with the punch of ethanol that warms your chest after each sip. There’s also a gentle kiss of cinnamon and baked apple on the finish that makes it enjoyable to revisit time and time again.

Bottom Line:

Despite the fact that it isn’t as harmonious as previous releases of Elijah Craig — with the stellar C923 batch coming to mind — Batch A124 still lives up to its reputation as an exceptional cask-strength bourbon. Likewise, Drake’s “Family Matters” is a bit unfocused — as he continued to take the “20 v. 1” sentiment that he mentioned on “Push Ups” to heart. He ceded precious ground in the beef by taking on so many opponents at once — reserving almost equal venom for his former collaborator, The Weeknd, as he does for Kendrick Lamar.

That said, “Family Matters” does an admirable job of protecting his reputation while taking fresh digs at Kendrick Lamar’s credibility.

Kendrick Lamar “Meet The Grahams” with Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 60%
Average Price: $76

The Diss: Kendrick Lamar “Meet The Grahams” May 3rd, 2024

The third(!) diss track of the day, “Meet The Grahams” was released less than an hour after Drake’s “Family Matters.” On the hard-hitting, low-tempo track, Kendrick takes aim at Drake’s family, hurls his ugliest accusations yet, and goes so far as to wish death on his Canadian counterpart. He also proved that his previous diss track “6:16 in LA” was indeed a well-laid trap, though aspects of the song’s veracity have since been called into question.

The Whiskey: Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Leather and cinnamon bark really lead the way on the nose of this bourbon and they’re supported by the scent of buttered croissants and date syrup.

Palate: The flavors in Frey Ranch Farm Strength Bourbon really scream “boldness.” There’s corn pudding, tropical fruit chunks, and tobacco leaf but there’s also a heavy dose of ethanol which takes some getting used to. In addition to that intriguing array of flavors, there’s a truly robust and viscous texture to the bourbon that forces you to sit up and dissect it.

Finish: On the finish there’s even more heat as charred red pepper skin fuses with honey and more grain-forward corn notes.

Bottom Line:

Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon is deceptively challenging, with corn-forward sweetness on the front end masking the heavy dose of ethanol and surprising depth of flavor found at midpalate and on the finish. Frey Ranch’s Farm Strength offering makes for such a perfect pairing with Kendrick Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams” because it is undeniably complex and deeply tied to the concept of family.

The family behind Frey Ranch Distillery has been farming since 1854 and distilling for 20 years, and all of that experience is on display in every bottle of their unique grain-forward bourbons.

Kendrick Lamar “Not Like Us” with Redwood Empire Cask Strength Pipe Dream Bourbon

Getty Image

ABV: 55%
Average Price: $70

The Diss: “Not Like Us” May 4th, 2024

As the latest diss in the ongoing battle, “Not Like Us” called Drake’s alliance with Atlanta rap artists into question over a booming beat that showcases the signature California rap sound. Reminiscent of an N.W.A. record from the 90’s, Kendrick’s embrace of the regional sound on the catchy track resulted in commercial success with the song breaking Spotify’s streaming record by becoming the most streamed American hip-hop song in a single day with 6.59 million streams.

The Whiskey: Redwood Empire Cask Strength Pipe Dream Bourbon

Redwood Empire’s Cask Strength Pipe Dream Bourbon is aged for a minimum of 4 years and takes the brand’s already excellent bourbon and raises the stakes courtesy of an increase in ABV.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Aromas like toffee, barrel char, and the leather from a baseball glove are immediately evident on the nose. There’s a touch of smokiness hiding in the background as well as some caramel that emerges after a few swirls in the glass.

Palate: On the palate there’s a lovely green apple note to go with honeyed pecans, aged oak notes, and accents of nutmeg.

Finish: The finish on this whiskey doubles down with more baking spice and oak before relenting with some of the toffee from the nose and a sweet albeit slightly tart green apple note to close.

Bottom Line:

As the final nail in the coffin (for the time being) “Not Like Us” proved to be a surprise hit with the thumping West Coast production from DJ Mustard resonating with many fans. The best bourbon produced in California, Redwood Empire’s Cask Strength Pipe Dream, is not only fiery and full-bodied, but through the brand’s Trees For The Future initiative, they also give back and elevate their local community.

With Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” firmly planting the flag for the classic California sound, it can be said that he’s also elevating the region that has strongly supported him throughout his career. Though there were also scattershot disses from the likes of J. Cole, Rick Ross, and Metro Boomin — whose #BBLDrizzy challenge inspired a host of inventive covers — the spirited clash is at a standstill…for now.

Who Is Dave Free & What’s His Relationship To Kendrick Lamar?

Kendrick Lamar’s long-time business partner Dave Free has been trending quite a bit lately, as Drake repeatedly mentions him in the ongoing brutal rap feud between himself and Kendrick. An Inglewood, California native, Free goes back many years with Kendrick, both in a professional capacity and as a deeply-rooted friend. The exec has served as one of the key figures in Kendrick’s musical catalogue, helping to construct most of the visual releases which accompany projects such as To Pimp A Butterfly, Damn, and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. Free also co-directed the concert film Kendrick Lamar Live From Paris: The Big Steppers Tour, which is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Let’s take a moment to examine what Drake said about the record executive, check the validity of these claims, and highlight the bond shared between Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free.

Right around the time Kendrick Lamar was first getting buzz for his ability to write rhymes, Dave Free was working as a computer technician. Kendrick and Dave are childhood friends who go all the way back to high school. After meeting TDE founder and CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith through a work connection, Dave showed the label head Kendrick’s music, and the rest is history. Top signed Kendrick Lamar to TDE in 2005, and brought Dave Free along shortly thereafter as an in-house producer.

From there, Dave linked with Sounwave, Tae Beast, and Willie B, creating a production team known as Digi+Phonics. The team were responsible for handling most of the production needs of TDE acts such as ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and others, and were even named on BET’s list of the top 10 producers of 2013. Free received numerous accolades for his work with the Digi+Phonics, solidifying his position at the label as he transitioned into an executive role.

He Became Co-President Of TDE & Co-Founder Of PGLang

While crafting beats and working the boards with Digi+Phonics, Dave Free was promoted up through the TDE ranks, eventually becoming the label co-president alongside Punch. During this time, Kendrick Lamar hired Dave Free as his manager, and the pair worked closely co-directing music videos and other works. Dave and Kendrick have won MTV Video Music Awards, Grammy Awards, and numerous other accolades for their work, strengthening their creative bond. Free eventually parted ways with TDE in 2019, and served as a free agent before linking with Kendrick for their latest and greatest business venture.

In March 2020, Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free officially launched PGLang. Kendrick has been working with the independent multimedia company exclusively since leaving TDE after the release of Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers in 2022. The company also serves as the base for Kendrick’s cousin and protege Baby Keem, and has even released their own cell phone. Through PGLang, Dave Free has gone on to work with brands such as CashApp, Calvin Klein, and Converse, and even inked a deal to produce a feature film with the creators of South Park.

What Did Drake Say About Dave Free?

The heated exchange between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has resulted in nearly a dozen scathing records hitting the streets, each with ad-hominem attacks and unsubstantiated rumors. On tracks such as “Family Matters” and “The Heart Part 6,” Drake makes specific mention of Dave Free, claiming that the music exec carried out an affair with Kendrick Lamar’s long-time fiancé Whitney Alford, and may even be the biological father of Kendrick Lamar’s son Enoch. On “Family Matters,” Drake raps “I heard that one of ’em little kids might be Dave Free/ Don’t make it Dave Free’s/ ‘Cause if your GM is your BM secret BD/ Then this is all makin’ plenty f***in’ sense to me.”

Despite Drake’s insistence on these claims, there seems to be literally nothing linking this rumor to reality, as the best evidence the OVO camp could provide was a comment containing a heart emoji that Dave left on one of Whitney’s Instagram posts. A screenshot of the comment was used as the cover art for the diss track “The Heart Part 6,” though the track has largely been overshadowed by Kendrick’s smash-hit banger “Not Like Us.” At this time, neither Kendrick Lamar, Dave Free, or Whitney have come forward to discuss the drama.

Drake “Family Matters”: Unpacking The Bars

On “Family Matters,” Drake gives a bold retort to Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA.” This marks his third entry in their lyrical battle. As expected, Drake directs a barrage of pointed jabs towards Kendrick. But while he tries to dismantle the allegations Kendrick has woven into his own tracks, he makes sure to leave more than one verse for some of his other industry “enemies.” The result is a polarizing track filled with grand allegations, call-outs, and shots fired in multiple directions, including at A$AP Rocky and Rihanna.

Premise And Production

The track features three distinct beat switches, mirroring Kendrick’s style, to emphasize the seriousness of the attack. Additionally, production credits for the track belong to Canadian producers Boi1da, Tay Keith, and Mark Ronson. Overall, the track’s sound is as heavyweight as its content, and picks up from “Push Ups.” Drake also bends different musical elements to create a sound that’s both familiar and fresh. While the beats are hard-hitting, the bass lines are deep, there’s also urgency in the rhythm that matches the gravity of the words.

Opening Shots

Drake’s mother, Sandra Graham’s voice opens “Family Matters” with “‘Maybe in this song, you shouldn’t start by saying…” right before it cuts to Drake rapping: “N***a, I said it, I know that you mad  / I’ve emptied the clip over friendlier jabs / You mentioned my seed, now deal with his dad / I gotta go bad, I gotta go bad.” This line establishes that his anger at Kendrick was not just about questioning his Blackness. It’s also about bringing his son Adonis into the beef.

Familial Offenses

Drake picks Kendrick’s relationship with his family apart for the entirety of “Family Matters.” In regards to Kendrick’s father Drake raps: “Your daddy got robbed by Top, you Stunna and Wayne, like father, like son / Anthony set up the plays, Kojo be chargin’ you double for nothin’.” This references the claims he made on “Push Ups” where he alleged TDE boss Top Dawg locked Kendrick in a bad contract for the 17 years he was at TDE. Drake references, “DUCKWORTH,” a song detailing how Kendrick’s dad avoided getting robbed by Top Dawg.

Meanwhile the music video for “Family Matters” shows what looks to be Kendrick’s mother’s Dodge Caravan, which appeared on the cover of good kid, m.A.A.d city. The video sees the car getting towed through Toronto before getting violently crushed in a junkyard. Then, in the third verse, he shoots a line at Kendrick’s trans uncle whom Kendrick references in his song “Auntie Diaries.” Drake raps, “Where is your uncle at? ‘Cause I wanna talk to the man of the house.”

Drake’s Comes For Kendrick’s Relationship

“Family Matters” also touches on Kendrick’s romantic life. First, Drake goes ahead and flips the Black authenticity script on Kendrick. He points out that Kendrick’s fiancée, Whitney, is also half-Black. He also references Kendrick allegedly cheating on his fiancée with white women. “You the Black messiah wifin’ up a mixed queen / And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem,” he raps.

Moreover, he suggested through his lyrics that Kendrick physically assaulted his fiancée Whitney. “Your baby mama captions always screamin, ‘Save me’ / You did her dirty all her life, you tryna make peace,” he said. As if that weren’t explicit enough, he continued, “When you put your hands on your girl, is it self-defense ’cause she bigger than you?” Furthermore, Drake alleged that Kendrick’s label intervened amid the alleged domestic violence allegations. “They hired a crisis management team / to clean up the fact that you beat on your queen.

Finally, to seal the crown, Drake suggests that one of Kendrick’s kids is not his own. Specifically, he claims the baby might belong to Dave Free. So the track not only touches on K-Dot’s alleged infidelity, but also Whitney’s. “I heard that one of them little kids might be Dave Free / Don’t make it dave Free’s / ‘Cause if your GM is your BM secret BD / Then this is all making plenty f*ckin sense to me.

On “Family Matters,” Drake accuses Kendrick of being a fake Black activist and a subpar rapper. He also questions his credibility within gang-related culture. “If you had a set they’d give your ass a DP / But you civilian gang, in real life you PC,he rapped. Drake also claimed that Kendrick’s best raps are actually the work of Baby Keem. “K.Dot shit is only hitting hard when Baby Keem put his pen to it,” he raps.

Interestingly, he also reveals how Kendrick was allegedly behind his lawsuit for using 2Pac’s voice on “Taylor Made Freestyle.” The track, which made use of AI, was heavily polarizing upon release. Moreover, Drake faced criticism for the use of AI. “A cease-and-desist is for h*es / Can’t listen to lies that come out of your mouth / You called the Tupac estate / And begged them to sue me and get that s**t down.

Prior to all this, Drake also calls Kendrick’s loyalty into question. When Drake first announced “Family Matters,” it was with an Instagram post featuring a whole other song, “Buried Alive Interlude.” In the snippet, he flips a Take Care tune (the same song Kendrick appeared on) against the Compton rapper. Drake also raps about bringing Kendrick on his Club Paradise tour as an opening act in 2012. Moreover, he brings up J. Cole in one of the verses. “And wait, you say your brother Jermaine, but you wanted him to stay out of the light,” he spits.

The Case Against Other Artists

Drake makes it clear on “Family Matters” that no one is beyond reach. As a result, he launches verbal volleys at a host of figures. Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, and industry heavyweight Dave Free receive mentions on the diss song. For example, he accuses Metro Boomin of swaying Future against him and as a result, bringing artists like Kendrick Lamar to attack him further. “Leland Wayne, he a f*ckin’ lame, so I know he had to be an influence / These n****s had a plan and they finally found a way to rope you into it / Two separate albums dissin’, I just did a Kim to it, n****, skim through it.”

With ASAP Rocky, the insults even involve Rihanna, whom he refers to as “Fring,” a supposed nickname Drake gave her when they dated. “Gassed ’cause you hit my BM first, n**** / do the math, who I was hittin’ then? / I ain’t even know you rapped still ’cause they only talkin’ ’bout your ‘fit again / Probably gotta have a kid again ‘fore you think of droppin’ any sh*t again / Even when you do drop, they gon’ say you should’ve modeled ’cause it’s mid again / Smokin’ Fenty ’bout it, should’ve put you on the first one, tryna get it in” Unsurprisingly, much of Drake’s jabs at other artists were met with criticism. He was also accused of his inability to let his past relationships go.

LeBron James Spotted Dancing To Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss “Not Like Us”

LeBron James is a big rap fan. LeBron can be seen on various Instagram stories over the years, repping many a different artist, rapping their songs, and enjoying their music. LeBron seems to have a good relationship with both Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The Drake Kendrick beef is making people pick sides. Athletes like tennis stars Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff have both sided with the Compton rapper. It seems everyone is realizing that Drake lost the feud. Now King James has been spotted having a good time dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us.

Kendrick Lamar has even name-checked LeBron in his flurry of disses aimed at the Toronto rapper. On Kendrick’s “Meet The Grahams,” he rapped, “Ayy, LeBron, keep the family away, hey, Curry, will you keep the family away?” With all the allegations against Drake, Kendrick urges the athletes who have had close ties to Drizzy to be careful. LeBron was previously seen jamming to Kendrick and Futures track “Like That,” the song that started everything, during his warm-ups in the play-in tournament. LeBron has now been spotted two-stepping the night away to Kendricks’s mega-hit diss.

LeBron Dancing To “Not Like Us”

It is safe to say LeBron James approves of Kendrick Lamar’s viscous and bumping “Not Like Us.” Drake and fans were clamoring for Kendrick to make something people could dance to, and he did just that. Now King James is hitting a slight jig at the expense of his once close associate, Drake. LeBron is also hilariously trying to look like he is in all black and a hat, but we all know it’s him. It is probably in his best interest to cut ties with Drake anyway since he is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers. Lamar is a Laker fan and is from Compton, so it only makes sense.

LeBrons future in LA is up in the air. They are going to try and do everything they can to retain the King’s services. The Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud seems like it has a definitive winner. No one is really stepping out there to defend Drake. The only thing that can turn the tide is another diss from Drizzy. Nevertheless, we know that one diss from Drake means two are on the way from Mr. Lamar.

Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar pulled off the incredibly impressive feat of breaking one of Drake’s streaming records with a literal Drake diss track. His song “Not Like Us” broke the record previously held by Drake’s Certified Lover Boy opener “Champagne Poetry.’ The record itself was for the most streams by of any solo rap song on Spotify in a single day. But Drake also holds plenty of other Spotify records. One of which is the most streams in a single day for any rap song.

The track that holds the crown is his collaboration with Lil Bay “Girls Like Girls.” That track also lands on Drake’s 2021 album Certified Lover Boy and racked up 12.385 million streams in a single day. The song went viral the moment it dropped largely due to one particular lyrics where Drake calls himself a lesbian. “Not Like Us” the same song that broke “Champagne Poetry’s” record nearly also broke the overall record. When all was said and done it came up just 5000 streams short of stealing the crown of most streamed rap song in a single day in Spotify history. Check out the full report from Chart Data below.

Kendrick Lamar Comes Within 5k Streams Of Drake’s Record

Big numbers have been the story of the entire Kendrick and Drake beef. Both of the songs that kicked it off “First Person Shooter” and “Like That” debuted at number one on the Hot 100. The former even spent a full three weeks at the top spot. It now ranks among Kendrick’s top 10 biggest hits of his career on the Hot 100. It could end up being surpassed by one or both of “euphoria” and “Not Like Us.” The former is expected to challenge for number one next week. The later will challenge for the top spot the week after.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar almost breaking multiple Spotify records held by Drake with a diss track against him? Do you think the pair are done with their beef or will they release more songs at some point? Let us know in the comment section below.

Coco Gauff Picks Kendrick Lamar Over Drake Because Of Serena Williams Diss

Coco Gauff is the latest of many who have taken a definitive stance in the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake feud. Yesterday Tennis star Naomi Osaka planted her flag on Kendrick’s side, stating he won the beef. Osaka also urged the rapper to drop another diss record because “Not Like Us” was so good. Now her fellow Tennis star Coco Gauff has chosen a side in the feud. Coco has chosen Kendrick Lamar as the winner, and it’s for good reason.

Coco Gauff’s decision to side with Kendrick Lamar over Drake is not just a matter of personal preference in music. It’s a decision rooted in her personal connection to the feud. Gauff’s support for Kendrick stems from Drake’s repeated disses against her idol, Serena Williams. In her own words, Gauff explained, “To be honest, I liked Kendrick’s songs more. And I think pretty much everyone I know is leaning towards him. But I do like Drake as an artist as well. But as far as the rap battle is going on, the rap beef, I think definitely Kendrick’s winning. Also, Drake dissed Serena [Williams] so I have to go with Kendrick. Kendrick defended her, so yeah, I have to go with him.”

Coco Gauff Joins Team Kendrick

In the song “Middle of the Ocean” from 2022, Drake referred to Williams’ spouse, Alexis Ohanian, as a “groupie.” Although they were never official, there were also rumors that Drake and Williams had dated in the past.  Kendrick Lamar defended his fellow Compton Native Williams on the hit diss track “Not Like Us.” Kendrick rapped, “From Alondra down to Central / n**gas better not speak on Serena.” Coco Gauff idolizes Serena, so her choosing Kendrick is a no-brainer.

Four-time Grand Slam title champion Naomi Osaka said of the beef, “Kendrick dropped some heat.” She continued, “That last song is amazing, and I played it while walking onto the court.” Popular opinion is that Kendrick Lamar has officially won the feud. Drake’s last diss track did not go over like the rapper wanted. Meanwhile, Kendirk’s “Not Like Us” may have become an all-time diss record. Overall, Osaka and Coco Gauff are part of the team Kendrick for good reason.

Freddie Gibbs’ Outside-The-Box Take On Who Won The Drake And Kendrick Lamar Beef

Discussion about the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef is finally starting to slow down ever so slightly. With Drake’s most recent diss “The Heart Part 6” he proclaimed that he was done with the beef. It’s also been a full week with no responses from the otherwise quite speedy Lamar. That’s led to some rappers and members of the hip-hop media to look at the beef in its totality and try to decide who won. That’s what fans wanted Freddie Gibbs to weigh in on when they asked him on Twitter, but he had a pretty surprising answer.

When a fan asked Freddie straight up who he thought won between Kendrick and Drake, he gave an alternate response. “The record labels” he responded in a quote tweet to the original question. It’s a fair response given that the beef has sparked an absolutely massive flood of streams for nearly every single new track released. Both Drake and Kendrick have already had songs debut in the top 20 of the Hot 100 with “Push-Ups” and “euphoria.” “euphoria” is even expected to compete for the very top spot on the chart next week. That’s even without mentioning “Not Like Us. “ The track is off to a hotter start than any of the songs that preceded it. Check out Freddie’s response and the reactions it garnered below.

Freddie Gibbs Thinks The Labels Won Drake-Kendrick Beef

Freddie isn’t completely alone in his speculation. Any time a substantial beef hits the world of hip-hop plenty of fans speculate that it could be faked. They claim that the virality of seeing some of the genre’s biggest voices attacking each other causes records to sell and money to be made.

What do you think of Freddie Gibbs take on who actually won the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef? Do you believe the theories that some rap beefs are fake and assembled by labels to sell records? Let us know in the comment section below.

Did Gunna Diss Drake On ‘Still Prevail’ From His New Album ‘One Of Wun?’

After exchanging diss tracks with Kendrick Lamar all weekend, Drake seemingly threw in the towel on Sunday night with the release of “The Heart Part 6.” From the song’s spoken outro, it seems that the Toronto superstar had grown tired of sparring with his Compton opponent, and wanted to move onto other things.

Unfortunately for Drake, it doesn’t look like the slew of rappers who joined in from seemingly all sides is interested in letting him walk away. In fact, some fans on Twitter noticed a line from Gunna’s album, One Of Wun, that suggests another fighter is jumping into the fray.

Did Gunna Diss Drake On His New Album?

Gunna, who released his new album One Of Wun today, appears to go after Drake on the song “Still Prevail.” In it, he rhymes, “I clear all the tabs, they pay for their abs,” evoking a similar jab that has been used against him by Kendrick, as well as Joe Budden, Rick Ross, and even Azealia Banks.

It has long been rumored that the “Hotline Bling” singer got liposuction on his midsection — a rumor that Drake has never denied (although, to be fair, you can’t prove a negative). If Gunna really is referring to Drake with that line, it would bring the total of former collaborators turned competitors to five (six, if you count Meek Mill).

Incidentally, fans were sure that Gunna actually had a beef with Future, who seemingly announced the release of a project of his own earlier this week (which turned out to just be a single) with a remark that fans thought disparaged the younger Atlanta rapper. It remains to be seen how that’ll play out, but for now, it looks like rap’s tangled web of civil conflicts just got even more complex.

Police Were Called To Drake’s Toronto Mansion Again For A Second Trespasser In As Many Days

Drake’s home has been the site of two attempted break-ins and a shooting in just one week. One person was hospitalized earlier in the week after trying to break into Drake’s Toronto mansion, and now, another trespasser was caught. According to TMZ, at around 3:30 ET yesterday afternoon, police were called to the mansion after another person tried to get onto the property and got into an altercation with Drake’s security. That person was later taken to the hospital as well, but no reason was given. The first would-be home invader “was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to get medical assistance,” according to Toronto police.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (May 7), a security guard was “seriously injured” in a reported drive-by shooting. The guard underwent surgery at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The three incidents came after an utterly miserable weekend for the international superstar, who found himself on the receiving end of a trio of vicious diss tracks from rival rapper Kendrick Lamar. While Drake tried to return fire with a pair of songs of his own, disparaging the dubious info Kendrick used against him, fans were less than impressed by the results.

Another Trespessar Detained at Drake’s Toronto Home

Another person has been arrested after trespassing on Drake’s home. This is the third incident at the Toronto mansion in three days.

The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. local time, where a trespasser got into an altercation with security before police arrived. The trespasser was taken to a hospital for injuries sustained during the event.

Unwelcome visitors continue to visit Drake’s Toronto home, nicknamed The Embassy. According to TMZ, on Wednesday (May 9) a man was placed in police custody after attempting to access the sprawling mansion.

Officers were called to the Bridal Path home after a man was intercepted at the security gate and detained until officers arrived. The man was arrested under the Mental Health Act. Canada Global News reporter Tracy Tong revealed the man stated he was “here to see Drake” before engaging in a scuffle with security.

This incident happened less than 24 hours after a shooting at Drake’s residence. According to The Toronto Sun, the man injured is a 48-year-old security guard. He was struck by bullets while “standing outside the gates in front of the home.”

The shooting occurred at 2:09 a.m., and the injuries were considered life-threatening. The shooting was a drive by. One of the bullets hit in the upper chest. The man was transported to the Sunnybrook Hospital and is listed in serious condition.

After the drive-by shooting, a vehicle was seen leaving the area. Law enforcement is allegedly battling “video quality” issues.

There are no details on whether Drake was home despite being seen in Toronto recently.
