Drake Officially Releases Three Songs From 100gigs Website Onto Streaming

After just two days of Drake dropping three new tracks on his 100gigs.org site, they are making their way to streaming services. As of just several hours ago, The Boy put “It’s Up”, “Blue Green Red”, and “Housekeeping Knows” into a bundle called “100 GIGS”. It uses the stock audio frequency lines as the cover art, which is the same image that makes up the “plottttwiistttttt” IG account the tracks were uploaded to. As you are well aware by now, Drake had help from a few guest stars to create some extra buzz surrounding these songs. 21 Savage and Young Thug make appearances on “It’s Up”.

Then, you have Latto bringing some flair with sticky bars and flows to “Housekeeping Knows”. If releasing these records out of nowhere wasn’t enough, Drake appears to fire back at A$AP Rocky, while 21 seems to defend his boy by sending strays toward Kendrick Lamar. Speaking of the latter, there’s a chance that Drizzy is ready for “round 2” of a possible rematch with his biggest baddie to date. “Indigo Child”, another IG account that the rapper is following, sent this “threat”.

Hopefully, there is more to come on that development in the next few months. As per usual, Drake is stirring tons of debate with this move to drop all three cuts to Spotify, Apple Music, and the like. As you could imagine a lot of Kendrick fans are feeling that he continues to prove the West Coast titan correct. “You run to Atlanta when you need a check balanced”, one user comments on The Shade Room‘s post. “I hear Drake voice and I turn the song off immediately . … damm you Kendrick 😂”, another adds. However, the Drizzy fans aren’t going to be kept silent. “Drake the goat. We gonna enjoy this music. Yaw can keep hating 😂🐐🦉🕺”.

What are your thoughts on Drake putting his three new songs from the 100gigs.org site on streaming? Is this a W or an L for you and why? Which track is your favorite and why? Do you think these could be singles for a new project? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Tory Lanez Becomes The First Artist To Achieve This Impressive Streaming Feat

While Tory Lanez is currently behind bars for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, his music and fanbase are still as active as ever. Moreover, he recently dropped some new tracks for his die-hards to enjoy, “Know What You Need” and “Shots Come For Free,” after figuring out a way to record music from prison. But the Canadian artist is also seeing a lot of success with his previously released tracks, with his song “The Color Violet” marking a never-before-seen career feat. The record now has over 1 billion streams across all platforms, thus becoming the first song ever from any artist to do so with zero playlist support.

This description is a little vague, but we assume that it means that platforms like Spotify and Apple Music did not include “The Color Violet” on their curated, editorial, or official playlists. Tory Lanez should be very proud of this achievement, and very grateful to his fanbase for their support despite his actions. This news also arrives amid more curious and odd news concerning him, as his good friend Adin Ross suggested that he would ask Donald Trump to pardon him and set him free if he’s elected.

Tory Lanez’s “The Color Violet” Is The First Of Its Kind In The Streaming World

Elsewhere, Tory Lanez also told Adin Ross via a phone call that he graduated high school while incarcerated and enrolled in college. “I’m great,” he expressed. “I know that a lot of people sometimes when they hear prison or they hear somebody’s down, they think n***as in the corner somewhere bawling his eyes out,” remarking on his “great space” mentally and “bettering [himself] in every single way.”

“A n***a just graduated high school, enrolled in college,” Tory Lanez added. “Never thought I’d do that. But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage over everything that’s good. I’m a f***ing high school dropout that just graduated high school. That s**t matters to me. So, it’s the small things that just have me feeling good about life right now.” There’s still a lot of baggage left over from the Megan Thee Stallion case, but it’s clear that this singular moment will not define his life and career, regardless of whether you support him, like his art, or not.

Kendrick Lamar Eclipses Drake In Monthly Spotify Listeners Following Success Of “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar can notch another one in win column against Drake as he now has more monthly Spotify listeners. The NFR Podcast shared a side-by-side comparison of their accounts on the DSP giant and the proof is all there. While Kendrick is now in front of his Canadian foe, it is not by an astonishing amount. As you can see, the Compton kid is only ahead by 29,032. But at the end of the day, it is a higher number, and it is still an incredible feat. Especially because Drake is almost always at the top when it comes to rappers with the most monthlies.

However, with Kendrick surpassing him, this now makes him the second-highest MC in this category. The only other artist ahead of Kung Fu Kenny is Eminem. Overall, it makes sense because the Detroit spitter just put out The Death of Slim Shady over the weekend. The album is projected to sell around 300,000 units and should be a chart topper. Sure, Kendrick is coming off the rousing music video for his nail-in-the-coffin diss track, “Not Like Us”.

Kendrick Eeks By Drake In Spotify Listeners By Just Tens Of Thousands

But with Slim Shady already having a sizeable advantage in monthly listeners prior to that, it is clear that Lamar might have to drop something else to take the crown. There is a rumor that he may release a new album in the fall, but we will have to wait and see. Currently, Em is at a whopping 84.2 million, which is good enough for eighth in the entire world. Lamar is at 13, while Drake is not too far back at 14.

What are your thoughts on Kendrick Lamar sneaking past Drake in monthly Spotify listeners? Are you surprised it took this long for him to do so, why or why not? Could Lamar surpass Eminem if he drops his rumored album this year? What songs from the Compton rapper have you been bumping lately? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Overall, Vultures has proven to be a controversial release. Many Kanye Stans see it as a huge return to form. Others believe it is the worst project he has ever made. Metro Boomin Plans To Stop Releasing His Albums On Streaming Services

Metro Boomin is the most famous producer in hip-hop at the moment. He kicked off the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle, scoring a number one single and dropping a viral instrumental in the process. Both of his studio albums have gone platinum. He even dropped an acclaimed soundtrack to a Sony superhero film in 2023. He’s a recognizable brand, which is why he wants to make control over the distribution of his music. Namely, the use of digital streaming services.

Metro Boomin took a screenshot of a X (formerly Twitter) exchange on June 24. The screenshot was in response to a question about “industry math.” It broke down, in simple terms, how little an artist actually makes from an album when it’s uploaded to DSPs. “A fan needs to stream an artist’s music 20 times a day for a whole year for that artist to make $25 from that fan,” the tweet read. Metro Boomin not only co-signed the tweet, but made a big announcement. He told followers that these paltry streaming profits are partially why he’s going to stop putting albums on streaming. “This is why my next album probably be the last one streaming,” he wrote.

Metro Boomin’s Next Album Will Reportedly Be His Last On DSPs

The producer didn’t specify what his next album will be. The announcement could pose issues for DSPs like Apple Music and Spotify, though. Metro Boomin and Future dominated the Spotify charts with their joint album WE DON”T TRUST YOU in March. Forbes reported that the duo occupied half a dozen of the top 10 spots on Spotify’s U.S. charts. The biggest song, “Like That,” beat out the second place entry by an impressive 400K streams. This announcement comes a year after Metro Boomin decided to sell part of his publishing catalog to Shamrock Capital for $70 million.

Metro is mindful of his worth, but he’s made a point of avoiding “cash grab” trends. He spoke on the importance of maintaining a quality brand during an interview with Variety. “I feel like people can just tell I care,” he asserted. “At a time when everybody has their hand out — like, ‘Let me do this for cash; let me make a dance for TikTok’ — you can hear all the details and thought behind my music.” Only time will tell if the producer sticks to his non-streaming plan.

Drake Becomes First Artist To Hit 100 Billion Streams On Spotify

Drake has made history on Spotify by becoming the first artist to achieve 100 billion streams on the platform. He has amassed the figure with 78,140,542 monthly listeners after a highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar that saw him drop several popular diss tracks. They include “Family Matters,” “The Heart Part 6,” and more. Additionally, he recently teamed up with Sexyy Red for the single, “U My Everything.”

When Kurrco shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), plenty of his fans brought up the feud with Lamar. One user wrote: “Lmao [laughing emoji] man diss Spotify for now giving artist what they deserved, still couldn’t stop him from getting a billi [fire emojis] haters going hate.” Another added: “Drake gave a career to Kanye and Kendrick, metro and future and is too much above the Rap Game and it will never change until he retires, even these worst sounds are better than some of your favorite rappers here he just the goat  I don’t even need to justify myself anymore.”

As for the beef with Lamar, it began when the Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers rapper dissed Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” earlier this year. In the following weeks the two each fired off several diss tracks aimed at one another. “Family Matters” alone notched Drake 75 million streams. Lamar made waves when he went back to back with the releases of “Meet The Grahams” and “Not Like Us.”

Megan Thee Stallion Album Art Confusion Continues As New Cover Appears On Streaming Services

Megan Thee Stallion has been having a solid start to the year so far. Over the past seven months, she has dropped off three singles in “COBRA,” “HISS,” and “BOA.” Clearly, you can spot the trend here. Moreover, it was revealed recently that the artist would be dropping off an album called MEGAN on June 28th. Overall, the project is one of the most hyped of the entire year, especially since the artist is currently on tour right now. Fans are excited for this body of work, and there are some lofty expectations.

However, there has been one point of contention as it pertains to this new album. Overall, there are a lot of fans who have taken issue with the album’s cover art. The first cover that was shown off was a bit too avant-garde for people’s tastes. As for the second cover, it was much better, but some still couldn’t get over the “M” pasted in the background. Well, according to Pop Base, it would appear as though a third cover has appeared online.

This is the cover being displayed on streaming services, which indicates it is the official cover. As for the contents of it, Meg can be seen crawling out of an egg. Kendrick Lamar is on pace for the most successful streaming year of his career according to a new report from RapTV. When RapTV shared the news on Instagram, plenty of Drake’s fans took to the comments section with explanations. “I hate the people who started listening him after disses and act like they’ve been listening for years,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Drake single handedly revived this man’s career, as the biggest kendrick fan I love Drake for reviving his career and giving him his first #1 hit.” One more argued: “‘Where the drake fans at’ Drake literally gave him this boost. Jermaine Dupri Uses Sexyy Red’s Album Sales To Illustrate The Current State Of Hip-Hop And The Perils Of Streaming

Jermaine Dupri is someone who has been around the music industry for many years. Overall, he has lots of experience, and he has the resume to speak freely on the rap game and how the industry operates these days. In fact, Dupri was at the United Masters’ SelectCon conference in Atlanta recently, where he got to speak with Steve Stoute on the state of hip-hop. It was here where he referenced Sexyy Red’s album sales and noted that her numbers are indicative of what’s plaguing rap right now.

For Dupri, album sales are low right now, yet artists are still being hyped up and pushed to the forefront. “In the era that I came in the music industry, if you sold 28,000 copies, you didn’t get no other chance to walk in the building again,” Dupri explained. “N****s was not talking to you if you sold 28,000 records. It’s such a disconnect between people understanding the streaming situation and actually what you looking at. […] I came from an era where the numbers were 80,000 100, 200, 800, 900. This feels like it’s going backwards to me.”

Jermaine Dupri And Steve Stoute Debate

During the conversation, Steve Stoute offered a counterpoint. In his eyes, the low album sales are due to the fact that the streaming equivalents don’t make a lot of sense. You need 1500 streams to equal one album sale. That means 1.5 million streams is only 1000 albums. This makes it extremely difficult for artists to achieve the numbers that Dupri is talking about. That said, one has to wonder if the equivalent unit measurement will ever be changed. As it stands, some things just don’t add up.

Let us know what you think about this take from Jermaine Dupri, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that the industry is hyping up the wrong artists? How do you feel about the way album sales are counted these days especially when it comes to streaming numbers? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Eminem’s “Houdini” Earns Him Biggest Streaming Debut Of His Career, Steve Miller Pays Tribute

Eminem’s new single, “Houdini,” has officially earned the biggest streaming debut of the legendary rapper’s career. For the song, he sampled the Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit “Abracadabra,” which prompted praise from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on social media. Eminem dropped “Houdini” on Friday with a music video paying homage to his own 2002 song “Without Me.” It features cameos from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Pete Davidson, and more.

He’s been making headlines for various lyrics on the song. At one point, he references Megan Thee Stallion by rapping: “If I was to ask for Megan Thee / Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? / I don’t know but I’m glad to be / Back, like.”

Steve Miller took to social media to pay tribute to Eminem for the song. In doing so, he labeled the Detroit rapper a “timeless originator” who is “building something new on a long musical legacy of original artists.” From there, he bought up a number of other legends who influenced him including, “Les Paul, T-Bone Walker, Bill Doggett, Johnny Guitar Watson, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, the Beatles, Chuck Berry, Willy Dixon, Leiber & Stoller, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane & Miles Davis.” He continued: “There aren’t many artists who take the time or make the effort to stand up for themselves and credit and respect their influencers at the same time. Marshall Mathers you are an exception and on my short list of people who respect the art. To be included in your process feels good while I’m still singing and playing the music I love.
