Just a couple of months later, she redid one of her most popular LPs, 1989, as well. It has been out for less than a month, and three songs are in the top five on her Spotify account.

Then, we shift our focus over to The Boy. It seems every record is highly anticipated. That was the case with For All The Dogs. The same thing applies to the Canadian rapper’s top five. “IDGAF” with Yeat, “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole,” and “Rich Baby Daddy” alongside SZA and Sexyy Red, are hot right now. In fact, the first two tracks were topping the Billboard Hot 100, nabbing Cole’s first number one song.

This is the argument that many use for Drake to give him the greatest rapper of all time title. To some, that is certainly a hot take. However, you cannot deny that Drake has plenty of iconic tracks and albums. A solid amount of those land on one of his most recent tapes, Her Loss. The 2022 project with 21 has cuts like “Rich Flex,” “P***y & Millions,” “Major Distribution,” “Spin Bout U,” and plenty of others. With songs like this, it was only a matter of time before this collaborative record broke some sort of record.

That day is today. We have just discovered that it has just become the most streamed collab rap tape ever. It passes up notable efforts such as both Savage Mode‘s, and Kids See Ghosts, among others. However, easily the biggest competition on this list is Watch The Throne by Kanye West and Jay-Z. Her Loss has 2.7 billion streams, while Ye and Jay sit at 2.6 billion. That tape is seen by quite a large sum of listeners to be the best team effort ever. This makes it all the more impressive that an album that is just a little over a year old has already moved past it. In fact, it took only 372 days to reach that mark. Doja Cat Shatters Spotify’s Records History With This New Achievement

With this year’s run of new singles, the most recent of which (“Balut“) arrived this week, Doja Cat is on fire. Moreover, the Los Angeles artist built up a lot of steam with impressive rap performances, ethereal instrumentals, and a lot of social media promotion and hype. Now, we have a newly broken all-time Spotify record to represent her dominance and success in this new era of her career. The 27-year-old now has the most monthly listeners out of any female rapper in history with over 65.7 million. For those curious, the next MC in line is Nicki Minaj, who has about 61.6 million monthly Spotify listeners as of writing this article.

Fans likely remember that the Queen’s remix of Doja Cat’s “Say So” shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. That was their first No. 1 single individually, and the “Attention” rapper nabbed another one this year with “Paint The Town Red.” In fact, it was the first rap song to claim the highest spot on those charts in over a year. As if this story wasn’t already tightly woven enough, the last rap song to have done so was Nicki’s own “Super Freaky Girl.”

Furthermore, all this success and acclaim is leading up to Doja Cat’s next album, Scarlet, which die-hards have been waiting patiently for over a long period of time. However, that’s not to say that it’s all been peaches and cream when it comes to her fanbase and this album rollout. The Planet Her hitmaker lost a lot of fans with her public statements, such as speaking negatively on superfans, dismissing her past catalog, and her rumored relationship with controversial figure J. Cyrus. With these new singles, though, she proved that all of that can become moot if you continue to back it up with great art.

Still, we’ll see if that persists as a narrative leading up to Scarlet or if her extracurriculars catch up to her. It’s been a very interesting back-and-forth to witness, especially considering that these new singles are quite the sonic shift from past albums. The Canadian pop and R&B superstar continues to shatter some truly incredible records. A few months ago he broke the record of the most monthly listeners on Spotify for any genre eclipsing the 100 million mark. He currently sits at 112 million plus and that number will certainly grow.

In addition, this world tour he embarked on back in 2022 is the highest-grossing tour of the decade. It has raked in well over $350 million dollars in ticket sales. Shortly after, The Weeknd shattered the record for the highest single-night attendance for any show at the London Stadium with 80,000 fans. It is simply remarkable what the hitmaker has pulled off and he still has plenty more shows to go. But before the European leg ended the other night, The Weeknd snagged one more achievement.

The Grammy-award-winning phenom obliterated another show record after his performance at London’s historic Wembley Stadium. According to Live Nation UK, The Weeknd “broke Wembley Stadium’s record for sales with their traditional concert set up with the stage at one end of the stadium with 87,000 tickets sold.” This might be something that might not ever be done by another artist in the history of music. Meek Mill Says He “Always Thought” The Weeknd Would Pass MJ

The Weeknd just passed Michael Jackson as having the number one best-selling tour by a Black musician this week, with his “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour grossing over $350 million in ticket sales alone. He paid his respects to the late King of Pop when he eclipsed this monumental milestone. However, there was another rapper waiting in the wings to stake his claim that the Toronto R&B artist was always going to dethrone the 1980s musical legend.

Meek Mill posted on Twitter, saying that “I always thought [The Weeknd] was [going to be] bigger than [Michael] Jackson.” He congratulates Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. The Weeknd, for his achievement, with the apparent wisdom to know this was in the cards anyways. He proclaims in the Tweet that he used to hang out in the hood and dish out hot takes, like how Tesfaye looked like Michael Jackson out there performing. Seeing as The Weeknd was nothing but gracious and grateful for Michael, we wouldn’t say that he’d necessarily think the same way.

Of course, this claim would’ve been bolder if Meek Mill had mentioned it before The Weeknd blew the previous tour record out of the water. Still, it’s always good to see contemporary hip-hop artists dapping each other up, and Meek giving The Weeknd his deserved flowers is a wonderful sight. The two have collaborated a few times before, including the Meek Mill song “Pullin Up” from his 2015 album, Dreams Worth More Than Money.

Meek has been offering his opinions left and right recently. He discussed The Weeknd another time when the AI-generated song “Heart on My Sleeve” made the rounds. Artificial intelligence used The Weeknd and Drake’s voice likenesses to create a wholly original song. Meek Mill loved the song, listening to it on repeat and asking the duo to make some new music together. While he caught flak for boosting the AI-generated track, he still has a point: The hip-hop world could use some new Drake-Weeknd collaborations.

The Weeknd Respects Michael Jackson After Breaking His Record

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd (or maybe as “Tedros Tedros” from his rat-tailed character on HBO’s The Idol), is breaking massive records. The crooning R&B artist destroyed a previous tour revenue record held by the one and only Michael Jackson. The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour is now the highest-grossing tour ever by a Black artist. The current tour has raked in over $350 in ticket sales alone. Add in merch and concessions, and this tour is going to be one of the most financially successful music events of all time.

Michael Jackson held the record since 1987 when he went on his “Bad” Tour. Adjusting for inflation, MJ grossed $311 million during that time and ended up number two on the list of richest tours of the 1980s. Pink Floyd’s “A Momentary Lapse in Reason” Tour took the top spot. Flashforward to now, The Weeknd was aware of the impending record and quickly nabbed the highest-grossing tour of the 2020s decade. When he cruised right past the King of Pop, he made sure to give the late great musical genius his flowers.

The Weeknd Is On A Torrid Pace To Icon Status

“[My] king. [Then], now and forever. [Rest] easy,” is what the caption says on The Weeknd’s Tweet. A video from a fan’s perspective captured him on stage, singing his rendition of the Michael Jackson hit, “Dirty Diana.” Renamed “D.D.,” he sings it live as an homage to surpassing Michael’s tour record. He is still on the road, going international this year. The “After Hours Til Dawn” Tour concluded its North American stint back in September 2022. The multi-country tour will end the international portion on October 25th of this year in Guadalajara, Mexico.

As for the record of highest-selling tour of all time, that accolade belongs to Sir Elton John. His “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” recently concluded and pulled in a whopping $910 million over 320 separate shows. It’s tough to beat the most popular pop singer of all time. But beating out Michael Jackson is still an impressive feat for The Weeknd. He’ll look to continue his rampant cultural influence with the tour and the TV screen.

Riri’s performance was remarkable, and she exuded palpable confidence as she sang her top hits. The show began with a brief video before revealing Rihanna suspended on a platform. The tracks on the setlist seamlessly blended into each other. She performed classics like “We Found Love,” “S&M,” “Rude Boy,” and “Work.” Her performance concluded with a live band and two of her most popular songs, “Umbrella” and “Diamonds,” during which some fans speculated that she announced her pregnancy. This was later confirmed to be true.

Even after seven years without releasing an album, Rihanna continues to be one of the most influential artists in the industry.
